Hey guys,
My Nexus 4 screen+digitiser are dead (I replaced the whole phone with a Moto G because it was nearly the same price as repair). I changed recovery from TWRP to CWM, installed a stock ROM but now I'm stuck. I can't set up the phone without being able to touch the screen, can't add a bluetooth keyboard without touching, can't remotely control with ADB without touching (to confirm the request), and I can't remotely install anything because I haven't added my Google account yet (clean flash of stock ROM).
I've tried to Google this but have had no luck, do any of you guys know if there exists a flashable VNC or other remote software which I can just stick on the phone, and then be able to VNC straight in (without confirmation) to control the phone and get it set up?
I wanted to set up the phone as a desktop computer for the kids (MHL-HDMI for the monitor, bluetooth keyboard and mouse for control, speakers in the headphone jack for sound).
Thanks for reading my question guys and any ideas you may have!
ı need flashable VNC. Did he find anything in 7 years? .S

Yesterday i was chatting away on the phone , and realized i wanted a solution that would let me control the phone from the pc.
I installed droidvnc server but somehow it doesn't work, it automatically stops the server as soon as you try to connect to it.
So today i thought of another solution (besides buying a bluetooth keyboard), which is to emulate a bluetooth keyboard in software installed to the pc.
I have searched this and apparently it isn't easy to do. I have a bluetooth dongle on my windows laptop, but this isn't enough since i would need to emulate the proper hid profile.
Is this possible? Or do you know of another solution?
This sounds like some Xzibit 'Pimp my Atrix' type mod. Yo dawg! I heard you like to input text on your device while your talking on it but cant see; So I installed an emulator on your laptop keyboard so now you can type on your laptop while you type on your phone while you talk on your phone but cant see!

Dude WTF. i'm not looking for a headset.
I want to use my laptop's keyboard as the phone's keyboard over bluetooth.
In linux, there's a program called hidclient that seems to do this. I want to do this from windows. Basically i want a virtual bluetooth keyboard.
Well I was trying to make you laugh but I guess no luck..
Have you tried the "Phone Portal" app in your app drawer? It will allow you to send sms and such via your computers keyboard.
Hi all,
I've got a broken screen so it doesn't even turn on anymore. I've reflashed a stock ROM, got it to boot up and I can plug in and see it via MHL. I want to use it to play videos etc through my TV as there's no other use for it. I've already got a replacement S3 to use as my main phone. Problem is the touch screen doesn't work for me to get through the setup and install the required apps. I could probably use a bluetooth keyboard/mouse or even physical using otg but I don't think that is possible using MHL. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Scott
mmm you could borrow for a BT mouse/keyboard and install TeamViewer QuickSupport, after that you should install TeamViewer 7.0 on your PC and since then you will be able to control your phone using the PC so you will not need the BT mouse/keyboard and you will be able to install whatever you want.
What do you think?

Yeah something like that was what I was thinking but as the screen doesn't work and it's on the Android setup screen when it's first turned on, I don't know how to pair a BT keyboard and mouse / install TeamViewer. My only thought would be a custom ROM with TV installed and configured and flashing it via ODIN .. but I don't know enough to create my own custom ROM
Thanks! :good:
Maybe I'm wrong but, when you plug the MHL adapter, it automatically mirrors the screen to the HDTV, doesn't it? I don't have it yet but I think it does, perhaps other could shed light on this issue

Yeah I've got an MHL adapter and it just mirrors the image so that's fine. I hoped the touch screen would still work even if it doesn't display anything but unfortunately it doesn't so I've got no way of controlling the phone, despite being able to see the display on my TV screen :crying:
You could set up everything you want on your working S3. Make a nandroid backup. Then flash that to your non-working phone.

I've got an option in my tv set that allows me to control the phone with the remote controller.
Check your tv.
i found it out accidentally in mine.
This option is called "fun link" in my tv set.

Hi
I have tried searching the net, here, and everywhere else.
I am unsure if I am even searching using the right terminology.
I have a A501 and a SGSIII.
I want to mount the Tablet in my car and then have the ability to remotely (Bluetooth preferable, but if I have do it WIFI that is ok.) control my phone, which may be in my pocket or in my bag.
So basically have the tablet display my phone screen.
Be able to stream the music from there.
Use Data (Maps and other Internet based things.)
So, is it possible?
I know there are "Mimic" head units available.
This is something similar, but would prefer it not to be handled via a cable, and just use my current tablet as the external screen for the mobile phone.
Regards
I have an unmodified Galaxy S3 (I9300) with the latest Samsung ROM (4.3?).
The phone is encrypted because my employer insists on it before I can get email etc. However, when it is encrypted and I connect a Bluetooth headset with music controls (FF,Rewind,Play, Pause), none of those controls will work. Volume up/down works and phone controls work, but not audio.
I have tested this on an unencrypted phone (my own with a factory reset) and the BT headset works. I also tested it on an HTC phone which was encrypted and that works too.
So, I either buy a different phone (why? other than this, there is nothing wrong with it), or I change the ROM to one that does not have this limitation.
So - my question is - which ROM does not have this limitation? Has anyone ever tested this combination of features?
Thanks for any advice?
regards
Alan
PS - I have blown ROMS before now - mainly on a Nexus 10, Nexus 7 and TouchPad.
Ello XDA, got a problem I'd like to put out there, My S4 screen broken until i can afford new one I acquired a gear S to play with. Tried odin but there don't seem to be any pre-made OS available for install. (essentially bypassing pairing) As you know Gear S requires Bluetooth pairing can be used as a standalone device only . So I thought ok I get an emulator tried bluestacks and Andy they use way too much PC power so swapped to Droid4x 0.10 managed to get a compatible gear S app working on the emulator. Purchased a mini USB bluetooth adaptor and although took an hr found drivers for windows 10. I know the bluetooth device is working as red light flashes when bluetooth w10 settings is running a scan . so i put my gear S to visible mode and my PC to visible mode and nothing happens. it just sits there on a scanning loop like it just can't find the watch at all.
I know you lot may say just get ya screen fixed download Samsung Gear S app problem solved however I do like a challenge a work around incase ya phone does break and you no longer can use your watch So any of you successfully managed this or am I at a lost cause Thanks
