my rom became odexed? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How is my stock 4.1.2 ROM became odexed? Can any one who has more knowledge on this give me an answer?
I did not install anything new and i did not run any scripts e.t.c.,last time it was "deodexed" about a week ago when i was playing with systemui.apk and framework-res.apk after my phone stuck on bootscreen i just recover using CWM.And since then i only used the phone for calls and web surfing

This is normal in a stock rom.
You have a custom stock sammy rom?
If so what rom do you have installed?

Getting mods on stock XXELL4(H3G)

After playing around with ultima rom and a few others I found out that my phone was slow in the Internet and really I like stock twiz
The only problem is I also like the stock jb lock screen abd was wondering if its possible to have stock XXELL4 from my network but root it and have these mods?

Just root your stock ROM and install whatever mods you want (that are compatible with LL4).
edit: For example, Jkay Deluxe framework (in the Original Dev section) has a stock JB lockscreen option.
I tried but some said I have to delete the system.oexde or something I did that rebooted and the notification bar disappeared

Oh sorry I forgot about that. You need to be running a deodexed ROM for several of these mods (I flash nothing but custom ROMs so I just naturally assume the ROM is already deodexed). You can download stock/rooted deodexed ROMs from this forum. Example threads are here and here.
my current baseband is i9300NELK2 build number is JZO54K.I9300XXELL4
how do i match this which is the csc modem and pda

Google now deodexed?

I want to flash Google now, which I have done before on a custom rom. It says you must be on a deodexed rom. I'm thinking of going to Santod's rom. Do I really need to be on a deodexed rom to flash Google now?

Yes, it needs to be deodexed.
I have 4 versions of the stock rom posted, two of which are deodexed.
As well as 7 other custom roms I have made available, all of which come with Google Now already cooked in.(not the stock ones of course)
Thanks. Your awesome. Are all the roms on one page with ics? Or a different location? And only the stock ics roms need radio flashed, correct?

Modifying stock rom

Can I insert framework-res.apk and systemui.apk from another rom into one of the stock ones or does it need further modding? I want to go fully stock, except I like the systemui and framework of another rom. This is just for my own enjoyment as I am not planning on releasing a rom.
If i understood you correct: You want to put systemui.apk and framework-res.apk from lets say CM10.1 into stock rom lets say LSS. In this case you will have to mod it since CM10.1 is based on 4.2.2 and LSS is based on 4.1.2
ps. correct me if im wrong

Not exactly, sorry I wasn't clear enough.
I want to copy those two files from a modified stock rom (say neatrom) into a stock rom, both based on 4.1.2

Then try it but before you do it i suggest you to backup your systemui.apk and framework-res.apk and try it!

A modified stock rom is usually deodexed so just copying and replacing won't work, you will have to reodex it, generate and flash it via a signed zip file(Basically a major pain in the neck) or if you are using using a deodexed stock it will be easy as copy pasting.

thx for the info. Is there any way to easily deoxed it? I was planning to grab one from sammobile, so it would be 100% stock.

Easiest way to deodex for me is to rebuild the tar file in android kitchen and by using the deodex option in it.
I think the non-lite version of NeatRom latest is just a deodexed stock rom, basically installing a deodexed rom is better, as it's easier to mod, the only disadvantage is the slower boot time(usually only after wiping the dalvik cache).
Edit : I won't advice you to use kitchen unless you have basic scripting knowledge or something about building roms, just search around for a pure deodexed stock rom, which should be easily available.
Edit :100% pure stock is odexed and unmodified, since you're planning on modifying one of the major stock things(framework and system ui?) why not just flash something already available?

Hi avipriya!
I'll explain this to you. The thing is a build.prop has a property which describes in which Region the phone is, meaning in which country the phone is. For eg. GB=Great Britain & IN=India. Now when you were flashing the Stock ROM, system files were being added. BUT build.prop was not added as it contained important info of your phone. Technically you shouldn't really worry if you think of adding the Stock build.prop and removing this build.prop as apps anyway find out where you are. So you should search for stock build.prop for your phone on google. And then replace it with your ROM's build.prop! :good: Helpful? In that case you could press the thanks Button.

i suggest u reflash the stock rom, just to be on the safeside..

So if you want your phone to be completely how it was before then use "odin" to install stock untouched OS. You should simply search for it on Google. I previously owned a Galaxy Y so I know that odin works for most Samsung devices. You'll have to download the latest odin tool compatible with your device and stock system files.

And you could press the thanks button if I helped.
Useless
Even though we flashed stock rom with odin, build.prop not change..

If you're still on HC, its best to upgrade to stock ics first.

That's correct. Stock ICS will give you the correct Bootloader required for the custom ROM you wish to to flash.
Cheers.
