so as you can see this account is very important for me...!
before that update everything was working pretty normal
things that i tried to solve this mayhem are:
clear app cache of playstore app

cleared data & app caches of gogle play services

get a root app uninstaller and uninstall playstore and install it again the latest version?

If you have adaway installed, disable it and reboot then open play store it should fixed. Even if you don't have adaway installed then install it, disable it, it should generate standard host files and that should fix play store. I've had this issue on Energy ROM while using VPN's.

Really weird problem and solution. I've been using Adaway for sometime and have never had issues with the play store even though I have several additional host sources added to my host file. I never had a problem before that either when I was using the "Mother of All Host files" adblocking host file I obtained from a thread here on XDA. Really weird and strange that's all I can say.

@Odysseus1962 it's not Adaway that causes this issue, its some other apps mostly VPN and market apps(mobogeine or 1mobile market etc) that adds a line in host file which causes play store to say "No connection" or can't connect to server while adding Google account. You may re-enable Adaway after disabling it should work with no issues.

Thanks for the clarification. I don't use VPN and the only other markets I use are Fdroid and Amazon, so I haven't run across this situation yet. But it's always good to know something like this should I ever have such an issue. At least now I would have an idea where to look to troubleshoot.

Thanks But Unfortunately Didnt Work So I'm Stuck.
You can try removing your account from your device and then sign in again. I get this problem quite frequently on my Note , and Sgs2. I believe removing your account from any Android device requires you to format it.

Uninstall the updates of the Play store from "Manage Apps". Or replace your current "Vending.apk" from system/app with a 2.x version of market . Then everything should work. Don't worry, it will be updated to Play Store in few minutes.
go into settings select apps then look for market select it n clear data, iftht still dont work u can just download the file apk from the internet

Wakelock woes

Alright, I've tried several remedies none have yet to fix my problem.
First off, does anyone else have a huge Wakelock with gtalk.async.androidendpoint? I'm finding this info out using better battery stats.
Here's my info :
Hboot 2.27 (global Leak)
S off
Rom newts one xxx 6.0.2 (happens on all roms)
Ok, so to rule out the obvious, I've tried freezing gtalk, then stopping Google locating services.
I've also tried this with and without restoring apps/data after flashing a rom.
When doing so, I always do a full wipe.
I've read up on it, some people said it had to do with the proxy on apn settings, so I made a new apn with the same info, data came in, but didn't fix my Wakelock.
Is this a known problem? I see many posts in other forums about it, but it seems its not happening to everyone.
Any help would be appreciated

There seems to be a few people with this wakelock on the internet and no real consensus on what the cause or fix is.
What I can tell you however is my girlfriend's Nexus 4 had the same wakelock issue and I realised it was because her work's Wifi network's network filter was stopping Google services from successfully syncing and it was just trying again and again and again causing the battery to drain. I told her to stop using that wifi network and the next day I checked and the gtalk.async wakelock was gone.

Hmm that might be it, I am using wifi provided by the college (I live on campus) its super fast, but I know some ports are blocked because Google Now won't work on it.
However, I tried disabling all syncing services and no dice. It's like Google just keeps trying even when it's not supposed to sync

can you freeze google services apk and see if that helps. if gtalk is blocked from making a connection then it could be the wake lock retrying to many times.

So far so good, freezing Google services framework did the trick, at the cost of Gmail and play store. But that's fine I'll just defrost when I need it.
Thanks for the replies guys

No problem. I've opened an Issue on the Android Google Code page to see if it can be brought to attention. Doubt it but worth a shot I suppose!

yep, so the service in google framework is calling out to make sure gtalk is connected. when your school block the connection it puts a pause on it and will request again when any type of connection change is detected. i cant remember but have you tried signing out of gtalk when not using it?

I don't use gtalk, so it's just frozen. But that by itself doesn't resolve my problem, strange lol. But yeah freezing Google services framework does.

it auto signs into your gmail. go to the app and sign out. then freeze it. should stop the framework request
I believe the GTALK_ASYNC process handles a lot more than just GTALK, a lot of Google Services are reliant on it so freezing it will cause a lot of collateral damage to Google apps and other apps that leverage services like C2DM.

it syncs for all gapps. what i was trying to do is see if you can just get that part of the sync portion off.
OP can you try this. navigate to system/apps and rename the gtalk apk to .bak reboot the phone to recovery, wipe dalvik and reboot. let it boot like normal and see if you have the wake lock without having to freeze googles framework.
this should stop the phone from ever knowing gtalk was installed and remove the wake lock problem.

oh, if gtalk is not on the phone. just do the dalvik wipe and reboot.
it would be the same thing as i instructed above just you would have the apk backed up.
:fingers-crossed:
Alright tried the wipe and reboot, but it still has the wakelock problem. I am really just satisfied with freezing and thawing Google services framework for now lol

Play Store 'No Connection' Fixes

1.Clear data and cache of Google services framework and play store. Reboot.
Or
2. Remove play store updates.
Or
3. Remove and reenter gmail account
Or
4. Install an older version of play store. If it is installed as a user app the convert it to a system app with the system/app/mover.
Link requires aptoide

You can use titanium to move apps to system and v.v.......an app that has a solid reputation and comes from the playstore.
No offence OP, just making a relevant point
i have had lot of weird problems with play store while running aosp roms sometimes rebooting or reflashing helps but anyway havent had problems on stock rom

Adaway

Is adaway down? Last few times I tried updating it has failed. It started happening after my last flash I don't know if it is something I did or not
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
I think Google is doing away with ad blockers from the play store. You can still download and update them, but it has to be through that developers website...
I have the app installed it is the actual host download that keeps failing. Should I uninstall and get another copy of it
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
Probably.... If it's not working for you and there are other apps that will replace the hosts file. Sure why not
Google adaway. Click in the link in the results for the open source project. There is qr code there to scan for f-droid which is a market for free open source apps. Install adaway from f-droid, the newest update will install hosts from the four sources without fail.

Google Play Store bad manifest

Since about Monday, when I try to update several applications in the Google Play Store, I receive the error message "Package file has a bad manifest" when it tries to install the update. I have never seen this message before. Can someone advise on how to fix this error?
Very much a +1 here
This appeared randomly a few days ago and applies to some installed apps and also to new apps such as San Andreas.
Very frustrating.. If anyone could help us it would be greatly appreciated.
I would suggest you to go to applications and uninstall Google play updates... Later Google play will auto install to the latest version

I'm having this problem too. Been researching it and other people experiencing it have bad internet connections, and I just tested my connection too and it's terrible so must be caused by corruption. Gonna try again on a better connection.
