Hi everybody,
I will be receiving my truesmart this week and like many others, I want to use it for outdoor sports with bluetooth headphones (biking for me )
What is the best music player app that can be used with the omate truesmart? Basically, I need it to work with the small screens and it needs to support playlists. My favorite for my phone is playerpro. Does anyone know how that app works with the truesmart?
Thanks for your help :good:
Try Fusion. It has playlist support and gives you Shoutcast support as well.

There are several free ones that work well:
-Apollo (CM music player)
-Google Play Music
-Google Music Player (try the old versions like 3.0 or 2.0)
-MX Player
By far my favorite, though it is paid, is AMP Player.
In the end, doesnt matter much, as the built in speaker sucks and bluetooth connections fail halfway though each song. Hope BT connectivity gets fixed now that Loki and Omate have access to the Mediatek source code
I just spent a nice 3 hours driving with my TrueSmart feeding KCRW Eclectic24 through to my car audio system via Bluetooth using TuneIn Radio Pro and my 5gig T-Mobile sim. The only cut-outs were due to gaps now and then in the T-Mobile network. The Bluetooth connection never failed once.

PlayerPro is my Truesmart default music player. It works fine :good: .
I received my Truesmart yesterday (yay!) and have tested out both the player pro and fusion music player (Thanks Lokifish-that is a great player and I had never tried it). Here are my results:
Player Pro: Music player works great, but there is no menu button on the truesmart or in the playerpro UI. The menu button is needed to pull in the playlists I brought in from my phone.
Fusion Music Player. When I installed this on my phone, it auto-loaded the playlists I had made in playerpro. When I installed Fusion on the Truesmart, it could not find the playlists.
Has anybody had success with pulling playlists from their phone into their truesmart with any music players (especially if it is one of the two mentioned above)? Also, has anyone learned if it is possible to remap the truesmart buttons so that they can pull up a menu similar to the standard button on almost every android phone? Omate should have included a menu button-this was a poor oversight on their part.
Menu in Player Pro (and other apps)
Hard swipe from the left margin of the phone brings up menus often for me (apparently including in Player Pro).

You are correct-that works perfectly
Edit: Playlists worked fine once they were in the right place, and after installing the Ensec enhanced security the bluetooth seems to be working great!
Thanks to all the developers working on getting this product functional. I'm a noob and my only experience with this stuff was playing around with the HP touchpad.
I tried Google Play Music but on the first startup you have to choose a google account which is not possible because of the low screen density. Is there any workaround for that?

Yes, you have to root, install xposed framework and change dpi for that specific app to lower than 120 with "app manager" module. 90 dpi works fine for most of these resolution problems.

Received my TS yesterday. It is the 1GB EU version. Could you link me to the correct root instructions page for that model? Wasn't sure about rooting because it looked as if the model ins't supported so far?

Hey guys I've been using player pro on my Android devices pretty much since release but It's getting to the point that I would like to see what else is out there. I've heard power amp getting kicked around these forums a lot so what's its like does it live up to the hype and if you have used both which is better?

Power amp all the way, the best graphic equalizer out there, with pre-amp as well
Poweramp all the way.
Functionality is superb .
Only gripe is album art, 99% of them have art on Windows media but only about half come up correct the rest just pick randomly.

I never tried Player Pro..
All I can share here, I tried default google player, default music player from samsung galaxy s3, and also jetAudio plus, no one can beat PowerAmp, for me..
I purchased the license, and never regret that..
U should try the trial version..
I'd pay at least double again to keep using power amp.
Power Amp for me, as it has the ability to keep the screen alive. So when I'm driving, i can glance at the handset in the cradle and see what's happening.
I like PowerAmp and I think it's the superior player overall, but I use PlayerPro for one particular reason - You can set it to only list your music by Album Artist in the library, rather than Artist, which is great if you have mixtapes and compilations.

playerpro has got a nice damn ui
playerpro +ics skin + dsp pack >>>>> Poweramp > Apollo > Stock > Others
poweramp 4 T W use it since i got my first droid!
Poweramp is an extremely well build music machine and uses its own build-in amp. + skins..
Playerpro has an easy UI and got an external dsp manager(dl. via market) * skins
Both perform very well and its a matter of taste.
Neutron is another music player(maybe the best) but very clumsy UI and hard to set up,because its has so many options..
My favorite is poweramp

I use Mortplayer!!! it has great options!!
Poweramp has the ability to read my mind...just has an awesome shuffle! just wish it worked like it use to for me. since flashing all these JB roms, dlg4 dlh4 dlh8 & li1now, all my playlist i create keep getting erased-or all the songs in the playlist are removed from the lists. very frustrating. have been searching xda for days. have no fc or issues otherwise with PA.
Hi!
I have a question about these two players and also Winamp Pro. I was using MortPlayer till now, but now it's time to change my player. I tried Winamp Pro, it's great but sometimes I find it slow when browsing folders (I have a 32 GB SD card full of music). SQ is great.
But the most important thing that I want to know is which of those uses the least resources (CPU and RAM)? I have Xperia X10i with ****ty stock gingerbread (2.3.3) (is not rooted) and I have problems with twitching, which is just going on my nerves.
Thanks
I like poweramp and I bought it a while back, though I seem to prefer a more clean/basic player. I think I like Google Play Music as a music player.

with power amp you can select different buffer sizes which should stop skipping(I presume that is what you meant by twitching?!)
I tend to go between the two. I prefer poweramp but player pro is very good - I might well go back to playepro for a bit.

Yes. Sorry, I'm not a native english speaker so I'm using google translator very often My music skips when I have less than 100 MB free RAM, and sometimes it skips all the time, but mostly on screen lock/unlock. I'm currently playing with PowerAmp and I think that I will use it as my main music app. I set the priority to highest and enlarged buffer size so no skipping for now. I will try it for a few days and probably buy it.

The sound in Pro Player is a little bit strange, while listening on my hi-fi. I gave up from Winamp Pro because I get force close very often. And PowerAmp seems to use less RAM (28MB) instead of WinampPro (34MB). But one question; poweramp doesn't have exit, so when I stop the music and "exit" from player, it's still in running apps taking 18MB !??? Is it possible to exit power amp so it's not anymore in running aps? I don't want my player to run in background while I don't use it!
EDIT: double fail! I came from Google and didn't see that this topic is for Samsung. Fail 2: I forget to turn on DSP in Player Pro. I think I will use it for now. Thanks!
Hello,
Please help me to find the music player I'm looking for. My requirements:
- A clean playlist (no artists, no genres, no album arts, no ratings, no lyrics, JUST FILENAME)
- An equalizer
- To be controlled by the handsfree button (play/pause and next track by double-click. More clicks - highly appreciated)
The closest to this idea of mine, which I was able to find, is tiny player. I liked it a LOT, but it doesn't have any equalizer...
And I have tried so many other players and they are TERRIBLE, especially starting with winamp, which I like so much for
PC!!! The Android's version is absolutely not acceptable for me!

Hello and thanks for your answers. But all of them are connected to Cyanogenmod.

Please recommend a normal installable app.

Hello and thank you!
I gave it a try today and it doesn't work at all :-/ It didn't show me even a single folder !!!
I see the message select a folder or whatever on the top and everything below is black!!
I'm gonna send an e-mail to the developers to report this bug.
Trying to download this, I found another player - EZ folder player free. It works very
nicely with my headset button, but it doesn't show the playlist and doesn't have an
equalizer...
Actually it makes me VERY SAD and VERY DESPERATE - WHY all the music players
need to have a huge icon showing NOTHING in the center and wasting the whole screen ?!?!?!?!
WHY there can't be a program, showing the playlist, as Winamp on a PC and 3 buttons
for play/pause, next and previous song? IS IT SO COMPLICATED ?!?!? And an
equalizer, of course!! Come on, guys, this is Winamp from 1993 !!! And in 2012, this
doesn't exist anymore !!!
My device is Samsung Galaxy S2 with ICS (4.0.3).
OK, regarding Music Folder Player - I can not see folders only with the paid version of this app.
I have also tried to install the free version and it works. I have also installed Music Volume EQ:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=hr.podlanica&feature=search_result
This is a MUST have app!! It has an extremely nice bass boost function and now listening to
music is a really nice experience on my SGS2.
So, back to Music Folder Player - this is the player, which I will be using for now. It is by far
not perfect, but it seems to be quite working. Major disadvantages:
- it plays folders only at one level - if you have a folder that contains mp3 files and subfolders
with more mp3 files, it will play only the lower level folder. If you select some of the subfolders,
it will play only the subfolders, but never the parent folder. REALLY annoying, but not fatal
- It writes media information files to EVERY directory with music
- The equalizer does not change almost anything and it is practically useless. But this can be
solved via Music Volume EQ, so it is a really minor problem.
But it is a very customizable player and I like it a lot! Nevertheless, I am more and more
convinced, that the perfect mp3 player for Android does not exist yet
Although, there a some players in the style I like - Music folder player, EZ music folder
player, tiny player, etc... There must be also more of them. Please suggest some...
Come on, guys!! No other cool apps? I can't believe it...
I am using kamma's folder player. It supports rom's native equalizer app. UI can improve a little but pretty much suffices what I need.
Best Music Player
hi,
Try this one i am sure you would not search for anything else.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.omichsoft.player
It supports Playlists, folders, genres, artists, albums and songs list.
Supports device internal equalizer.
shows itself on the Lockscreen.
and all this for an installation size of around 350 kb.
difficult to justify some (most) paid music players against this one.

i have been experiencing random pauses while listening to music.
it can be with any app (stock player, google play, tunein, winamp and deezer) and at random times.
i experienced this with my old htc dhd but headset blocker fixed it on that.
i dont think it the headphones socket as this has happened when my phone was sat on the kitchen worktop while i was cooking.
i have tried many roms also but im currently back to stock but rooted (although it still does it when it was unrooted as well).
i have done some reseach into this and have tried a couple of things like uninstalling google listen.
if anybody has any other solutions it would be very grateful as i ride my bike to work and stopping to play music every couple of minutes is really annoying.

I think what mahall1988 & I suffers from (well me for sure anyway) is a permanent pause state, not just a temporary one that occurs whilst the phone receives a notification and then restarts.

I was wondering if there is an app that can tell me what is using any services for sound
I can think of three things:
a) your phone audio jack/connector is dirty. You said you think this is not the case, but this happens way to often to be dismissed just because the phone was on your kitchen table when it happened. Try cleaning it out, (for example, follow this tutorial: http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Clean-a-18-3.5mm-Headphone-Jack/ ).
b) your phone is extremely short on memory. Maybe caused by an app that you use on all your tryouts? If your phone suffers from this, Android sometimes kills even the apps it shoudn't.
c) an app causes the media to pause... this is easy to rule out - install a fresh copy of any ROM and don't install any of your apps.
Just my $.02.
you probally have the motion setting on to mute sounds when phone is turned over if its in your pocket it will. i turn it off if going out while got music on. when you get a call and turn it over it silences the ring stupidly it does the same when listening to music.

Ruddy annoying ain't it.!
Like you say try another player and hopefully this will solve it for you
Unfortunately the pause issue occurs for me across multiple players Inc tune in radio. I also have motion control and voice commands disabled. Now installed a dual boot siyah kernel so I can run a clean cm10 rom install on second time to see if it is an app or at least narrow the possible culprit down. Will report back on this thread with any findings that may help others?

Same problem here -> stock player pauses without any reason. Turned off the mute motion function but problem still persists.
I had this for a long time. Have not seen it since I got 4.1.2. (with Poweramp)

...glad 4.1.2 solved the issue for you
I experienced the issue from ICS all way up to 4.1.2 (including 4.1.2) on the Stock ROM for International I19300. I then rooted and changed to NeatROM to see if that solved anything, that did not solve, so I changed Kernel to Siyah, that also did not solve.
I then installed a clean CM10.1 on the 2nd ROM of Dual Boot Siyah Kernel and that DID solve the issue. I installed only Poweramp andran it for over 4 hours today and not experienced a single pause. Booted back into 1st ROM and pause occurred within 5 mins!
Now all I have to do is figure out is the cause of the pauses due to a certain app?........should be fun !

Maybe we find it out faster if we all (who have the problem) post a list of installed apps.

EDIT: Froze all the above apps using Titanium Backup, was all hopeful after I got one hour pause free use......then is paused and paused again several times after
There MUST be a reason why some of use suffer from this, just need to suss out what the heck it is !

... Thanks for the reply shorty_blitz
I have tried that using a contact cleaner spray on a jack plus got the air compressor on it, but that also failed to clear the fault for me, but may help others
I see where you are coming from - a particle may be shorting out the contact points, causing the phone to believe a headphone remote has requested player to pause music. But the problem does Not occur on my second ROM running CM10.1 with only power amp installed extra to default apps.
......... The search continues
My gear s won't control my music on the slim echoerom...
If anyone knows the specific apk to get it working that would be great.

Mine worked with google play music for a while then stopped, haven't looked to see if a restart will fix.

I started using a custom rom and I'm guessing that's what's broke it. Pretty depressing cause I like to change my music from my wrist....
I'm gonna have a look through the full rom and see if I can hazard a guess at the app that's missing
There's a new app that controls music playing on the phone and it has 4 different methods if one doesn't work.. It's called Musiccontrol on my watch
I can't play music on my phone either try reset still no luck it worked twice when I first used it but now nothing

I returned the watch. ...
Worked out the there is an app which crashes. It happened the 2nd I used titanium backup to uninstall some apps so I'm assuming something I was uninstalling was breaking that feature.
Just my advice
Feel like an idiot but i just discovered the toggle between the gear music player & phone music control.. The app i mentioned works too, but no need for it obviously
Did anyone hear of a fix for this?
My Gear S Music Player worked a few times, but will no longer control media on my Galaxy S5...
I installed the Ultimate Music Control app and that seems to work... (but no longer have a working widget)
Fixed my Gear S music controller problem
i had the same problem for days. Its a problem with the widget. Just go to the actual place where all the apps are (swipe up) and scroll down to the music player and tap it. I guess it just kind of restarts the widget because as soon as I tapped the app the music started playing again and the widget refreshed with the album artwork. Got my Google Play music working again too. Hope this helps.
still works, just hidden
I may be late to the game, but I just got a Gear S today. It took me a while (and a few apps) before I figured out that the Media Player on the Gear S has a second remote function. It can be accessed by pressing the 3 vertical dots on the bottom right of the display...if you don't see it (or the controls, just tap the screen). After pressing the dots, a menu will pop up with Mobile Device and Gear choices. Choosing Mobile Device puts the Gear into remote control mode for music on the phone (works great with Pandora, but no album art or like/dislike functions), while choosing Gear gives control of music on the watch.
holy cow! I even bought this app called beatObox for this purpose... wth, my Gear S supports this all along... Gear S Mustic Player (as a controller) works with PowerAmp it just doesn't display the album art.
Ultimate fix for the stock music control apk all you do is tap 3dots on right top side, click mobile device, tap screen 3 times or so, tap play periodicly until music plays and skips and boom there you go. Works with any player, just no artwork...
I have been a longtime user and fan of PowerAmp. It has been the best music player (IMO of course) up to this point. Well it seems
as there is only one developer that manages and writes PowerAmp. This has resulted in loss of functionality to certain degrees, and form
with using PowerAmp on any Android version 5x and higher. Apparently the developer has bitten off more than he could chew in a reasonable
fashion, leading to no updates from a V3 Alpha form in over a year. So all there is in stable form is V2 that works on Kitkat and below versions.
Using V2 on a newer Android version 5x+ results in losses of quite a few functions, but still usable in ways. This leads me to my question...
What are you using for a non streaming music app? I am looking for superb sound feedback, Edge screen functionality, and adjustable parameters
to tune sound feedback such as Hi-Res to take advantage of onboard DAC functions. All feedback is appreciated, as I look forward to your responses.
Thanks much!
I'm still using PowerAmp
PowerAmp is still my app of choice. The alpha can work directly with the HD capabilities of the Snapdragon 835.

PowerAmp. It does what I want and then some.
Hell yeah, poweramp since release here. I'm wondering why I lost the hi-res output option though coming from the N4 to the N8 though? And I used the same apk.
I've been using Media Monkey for years now. Tried and bought them all for android and always go back to Media Monkey.
PowerAmp - Nothing better
+1 PowerAmp
GoneMad Music Player
I used PowerAMP for many years, but switched to Stellio. It's a much better player in my opinion, lots of customization and the UI is so beautiful.
I've been using Rocket Player. My use case is probably different those others, though. I'm a long time iTunes user and have Apple Lossless music. Rocket Player can play those.
Blackplayer EX forever

Neutron.
Lots of actually usable setting options... like MX Player but for audio. The claim to be for "audiophiles" brought me to it.

BlackPlayer EX is the most slept on app..... #GOAT
I am using both poweramp and the Samsung player from the app store. I like the way the samsung player integrates with the phone perfectly. It is strange that it is not pre loaded with the phone but I guess Google is trying to push theirs.

Wonder why hi-res isn't available, but was on the note 4?
Was a long time PowerAmp user but for some reason, which I can't recall at the moment, I was encountering an issue which lead me to try JetAudio.
A year later and JetAudio is my player of choice. I still use PowerAmp on my Shield Tablet but for everyday use, JetAudio never fails to impress.
Only caveat is that all of its sound plugins, excluding the default one, require you to purchase a license but you can try them before you buy.
What is the name of that music player
