[Q] m7 tampered and relocked - AT&T HTC One (M7)

hello everyone!
new guy here... i have searched, but I don't know exactly where to start with this phone.
basically, my friend bought this phone, and wanted to install some fancy schmancy app, that i guess required it to be rooted? he did something to the phone, don't know what, he doesnt know either.. he just followed directions he found online. it worked, for about 6 months, until all of a sudden it kept rebooting constantly. he needed a phone right away so he bought a moto X, and gave me this phone bc its useless to him.
now I have it, and am trying to recover some info for him off it (some notes and email addresses), and then I would like to make it into a international version, so I can use it on my travels to Europe this summer.
its currently on the fastboot screen, and it says:
***tampered****
***relocked****
m7_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT - 1.55.0000
RADIO 4T.20.3218.13
OpenDSP v. 31.120.274.0617
OS-3.17.502.3
i have a tmobile HTC One myself, but have never rooted or messed with one, i would start from 0. i searched, but I got a bit confused, so I just wanted to see if I can save this phone. thank you all!

So I'm thinking that your friend went through the process of rooting his phone by the usual way...
Unlock bootloader > install custom recovery > flash a super user tool.
Seems like he wanted to return the phone to "stock" but instead of doing the process in reverse just simply relocked the bootloader. Which is probably why it's boot looping now, doubt it just started happening all of a sudden.
If you want to put an international Rom on the phone I suggest just unlocking the boot loader again. Though be warned unlocking the boot loader wipes the phones data so your not going to be able to recover your friends data.
There are plenty of guides in the HTC One forums on how to unlock the boot loader.
In order to do it your going to need the unlock code for the phone, which your friend must have received from htcdev.com you'll have to get it from him.

Sorry it took so long, but I finally managed to make something happen.
I followed your advice, and unlocked bootloader. After I did that, the phone tried to restart and after the HTC logo, the screen just goes black, and stays like that. I can see the screen is on though. I can restart it, by using power + vol down button, which makes the back and home buttons flash when I press those buttons.
is that what should happen?

wait nevermind.... i wasnt pressing the right button, so I wasn't going into the boot loader. slowly figuring it out... haha

opinion
in this cases be carefull avoid brick your HTC ONE unloke bootloader again an follor straight instructions and everithing should go otherwise

alright so I have a question for you guys...
the phone was an AT&T Phone... if i flash a Tmobile rom on it, and unlock the SIM, could I take advantage of 4G here in the US? I want to use it in Europe this summer, but now my wife wants to use it as her daily...
basically where im at now, as of a few days ago, i unlocked bootloader, installer TWRP, now trying to figure out what to do next... slowly learning the ways of rooting here.. you guys are of great help!

If you're on a stock rom, you could go to att website, then click on your phone and choose sim unlock. I believe it is an 8 digit code. For the 4g part, I don't know for sure but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Hi there, I attempted to unroot and go back to stock after encountering tiny bugs while using my HTC One M7 but I ran into some problems..
this is exactly what my htc one says on the bootloader:
"Tampered
Relocked
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT-1.55.0000"
How do I go back to stock from where I am?
I would really appreciate any help, the camera started showing that common purple haziness a lot of people have seen and I really want to send my phone in for repair... and the warranty expires on June 23rd 2014.

Does your phone work / bootup?
if so just copy this rom to the phone and reboot to recovery and choose install
find the file and flash it ... choose to do a full wipe in Aroma if you want a fresh start on the new sense 6

[Q] Bricked Evo3d (soft bricked) and Im Stuck!

Hi Guys,
I feel strange, in that I have been rooting phones since the g1 (and literally every other android device on tmobile & sprint since then) and I've never run into this:
I was running Eternity rom, but wanted to send the device in for a warranty repair, so I followed the available instructions to take my Evo3d back to stock. Everything seemed to go fine, except that now the phone will ONLY boot into the bootloader.
I did re-lock the bootloader as per the instructions here on xda, so now at the top of the screen i get:
Relocked
Security Warning!
and S-On ( i was never s-off)
Does anyone know of a way to get me back up and running? Btw, it was the PG86IMG.zip ruu 2.17 u flashed.
Im in a big jam here now...no phone for work purposes

im going to say a bad ruu re unlock and start over i dont know if its on xda too but on scotts roms site it has info to lock without the re locked showing good luck
I am having the same problem, but I found a way around it. If I boot the kernel through fastboot it will boot up. (You'd need to re unlock). My hboot doesn't really work anymore..

Im not even sure at this point how to re-unlock it. i am wondering if i should have flashed to an older ruu though.
How do I extract the kernel from the ruu? or is there a download available? I have searched....just cannot find it.

flashimage gui is able to do it inside android, im guessing it stores it in a tempory folder, let me see if i can find the temp folder where it stores before rebooting to flash it...........brb

The security warning is because you are using a custom rom so will not be able to use the RUU through the bootloader.
What you need to do is download the RUU_Shooter_S_Sprint_WWE_2.17.651.5_Radio_1.06.00. 1216_signed.exe from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24268786&postcount=209
If you then run that exe while your phone is in fastboot and connected to your pc it will factory reset your phone and put you back on stock rom and kernel.

[Q] Can someone help? rezound reboots randomly then stuck in boot loop after rooting

Hello,
I tried searching for a similar problem without luck so sorry if something like this has been posted already. I have an htc Rezound i just got recently after upgrading from an original rooted droid. I decided to unlock it using the HTC dev method then tried perm root using some of the stickies. I rooted the phone (or at least i think i did) and got the superuser permision. Now to the problem, every so often the phone would reboot on its own. After that reboot it goes into a eternal boot loop. the only way to stop it is if i go and remove the battery and reboot it again. This has been going on for a couple of weeks and i cannot seem to find the problem any suggestions would be great.
my phone currently is S-on and im ataching some screenshots phone info.
Thanks
I would start by doing the HTC Dev unlock to stay s-on and unlocked to root, otherwise you will have issues sooner or later like these. Stock rom rooted without htc dev is kind of pointless since you can't back anything up. Re-run the stock RUU and htc dev unlock then root it.

I see the point, now if i understand correctly you are suggesting I run back to a Stock version and redo the entire HTC dev process again? Or can i try and flash a rom and see if it solves the issues?

Sorry, I didn't read very well lol, just look for one of the stock rooted roms, and flash that in recovery.

help bricked/locked up

EDIT: UPDATE .... i managed to get the phone rebooted .... held the force reboot buttons for literally over a min in desperation.... not i need to fully unroot and start from scratch but am having trouble with that still.... can anyone help me either (A) get s-off ... or (B) get it so that i am completely unrooted so i can start over from scratch to get s-off????
Ok folks, i am officially stuck.... its been quite awhile since i have really asked for help on here but i am stuck in a really bad way!!!
Here is how i got to where i am
Just bought my brand new EVO LTE today and went to root it using "[ROOT] RegawMOD EVO 4G LTE Rooter | Updated 06.13.12" from this section!
everything seemed to work great and it said everything rooted properly.... I love Clockwork mod recovery so i then flashed that and it worked properly to or so i thought! so i went to create an origional Nand but it would not work, so i decided to flash TWRP back instead and do that way. when going into the bootloader it said "Tampered" as expected, but it still said S-on so obviously not a proper and correct root.
So i ran RegaMOD again as it said in the instructions, but it would never get passed the HTCdev part, it would just say "sucessfully logged out" and sit there forever and do nothing. So after a few tries of that i decided to unroot and start over from scratch. I could not find an unroot method for RegaMOD so i then went to the other root method "How to Root HTC Evo 4G LTE! [Windows/Mac/Linux] - by Zedomax" in this section and saw it had an unroot method which i followed to the letter! did full unroot through SuperSU and then downloaded the stock RUU from that section for my phone with the proper version number.
everything seemed to be running fine went to the black "HTC" screen and everything was going smoothly.... then the update failed and my phone stayed on the black HTC screen. my computer prompted me to recover which i could not really do as you can't pull the battery on this phone. So i then tried to update the RUU again except this time it did not list a current software version, only the one i was updating too.... it failed again 2 more times!!
when plugged into the computer my phone displays the black "HTC" screen
when plugged into the charger it displays the following screen info (bootloader look)
*** TAMPERED ***

just one thing, s-on or s-ff has nothing to do with root
did you relock your bootloader before running the RUU?
And now we see what happens when we blindly click stuff without an understanding of what we're doing. I hate to be a douche (and I'm not usually) but this is EXACTLY the kind of thing you should NOT do with a brand new phone without intensive study. While the one-click root methods are convenient as hell, their major shortcoming is that they don't allow people to learn what they're DOING when they click that batch file...which leads to problems like yours.
As mentioned above, you need to relock your bootloader before running the RUU.
Also as mentioned s-off and root are completely different...and frankly you don't need s-off with HTC's unlock anymore.
Get your phone back to the bootloader, plugged in via USB to your computer.
Install adb (you should already have it, I hope) and type fastboot oem lock from a dos prompt (command prompt).
That relocks your bootloader. reboot into bootloader and you should see 'relocked'.
THEN run the RUU and start over....and this time please read and understand what you're doing rather than just blindly doing the 'cool root thing'.
no, i did not re-lock the boot loader.... didnt know you needed to, not used to that on the OG EVO... how do you go about redoing that? I always thought S-OFF was an important part of root..... the main reason i looked and noticed it was since i flashed clockworkmod recovery and wanted to go back to TWRP i read on their page that "You must be S-OFF or have taken HTC's unlock to use a recovery on your device!" I guess that since i used HTC unlock i could flash, but either way, should i need to go back to stock for any reason, could you please tell me the proper steps?
Thanks a million!!!

Wasn't being hostile and I'm not offended. It's just there are entirely too many people who haven't been paying attention to what they're doing and get upset about it when it all blows up in their face.
And for the record every phone is different. I've rooted my last 4 Android phones, 3 evo's and the hero, and root was different on each one, with different potential problems. Being excited is great. But you need to take the time to learn what you're doing, first.

Oh and before I forget: Don't use CWM. Unless they've fixed it in the last couple of days it breaks your /misc partition, which is quite probably what caused your issues in the first place.
Use TWRP. After you have root/unlocked you can download goomanager from the Play Store...it will install it for you.

[Q] Need help with ICS updation on Unbranded HTC AMAZE in pakistan

hey,
I bought HTC amaze 4g in Lahore, Pakistan. When I bought it, it was locked with S-ON and gingerbread v2.3.4 running on it. I waited for few days so i can get an ICS update through OTA but it never happened and there were slim chances that it would happen. Since i bought it here in Pakistan so there was no carrier attached to my phone so my stock ROM is not made for any specific carrier.
Now i have unlocked the phone (HTC BOOTLOADER METHOD) and then rooted my phone as well. So far its working fine with the stock ROM and everything. Now i want to update my amaze to ICS. i have read so much and tried to find some suitable way to achieve this but failed.
Can anyone guide me through this whole procedure with same case scenario as mine?? I have been sitting infront of the laptop for like 2 consecutive days and i have almost lost all hope to see my amaze running ICS ... so if anyone can help me out with this regard i would be very thankful ...

There's no unbranded RUU for the Amaze, so there isn't really any ICS update for you. The only thing you'll have to do is pick the T-Mobile ICS RUU and go on from there.

Thanks alot for your reply. But that is exactly what i want to do and being not able to do ...
Actually let me put my case more appropriately.
1. I want to update my phone to ICS but then again don't want to loose my warranty (which right now is lost as the phone is un locked and rooted). So before going to update my OS i would like to make sure i can un-lock/lock and root/un-root it? un-lock and rooting part is done now its the reverse mechanism i am seeking help with. No custom or stock rom has been flashed on my bootloader so far.
i have CWM recovery installed on my phone i have made a backup of my phone through it, which i saved on my pc as well as the phone storage now that would be my stock roms image please correct me if i am wrong?
2. And then in the second step i would like to update my os to ICS for that reason i had visited this thread
[Collection] HTC Ruby/Amaze 4G Stock ROMs (RUUs & OTAs)
Thread By: krook6023
and from here i can download the RUU you are talking about right? But wouldn't the software build or kernel version difference make it un successful updation?
if not then i will download one of those RUU's but guide me through with the next steps actually required to update it currently the phone is Un-locked, rooted and S-ON.
I know i am being too naive about things but this is my first android device and i really don't want to mess it up but that doesn't mean i haven't done research i have been reading stuff but as long as i don't get it done once by my hand i think i wont be comfortable doing it, hence require guidance.
Thanks in advance.

I know i am being too naive about things but this is my first android device and i really don't want to mess it up but that doesn't mean i haven't done research i have been reading stuff but as long as i don't get it done once by my hand i think i wont be comfortable doing it, hence require guidance.
Thanks in advance.

put the RUU into the root of the sdcard, it must be named PH85IMG.zip to be detected so rename it if it isnt.
turn off fastboot if its on (find it yourself) power off the phone and then power it on by holding pwr and down on the volume key
OR turn off the phone and then pull the battery, replace and power on using pwr and volume down. Then you will see the menu and choose fastboot it will check the RUU and take a long time then it will say press a key to flash the update, do it. wait a while. even if it seems to take a while dont pull the battery. when the phone boots do the setup and then in google market get ES file explorer and use it to rename the PH85IMG.zip to PH85IMG_1.zip or something so it wont detect it and start the long RUU check if you just want to get into the recovery.
I leave the RUU on my sd card just renamed cause ive had some funny problems and this can save your ass
hope this helped,

Thanks alot for your reply. Your reply seems to be about the second part of my question which was to update the OS to ICS. But before flashing the new rom i would like to know the steps required for the first part of my question so i can safely revert back to my original stock rom if something bad happens... Just playing safe you know....
If you can help me in that regard as well that would be wonderfull...

Hey,
Well i can help you with unlocking bootloader but i haven't done S-Off mine is still S-On. For unlocking your bootloader i am attaching this word file for you which contains all the steps that are required to unlock your bootloader.
And yes everything on your phones internal memory get wiped once you unlock the and reboot your phone. But things stored on the external memory wont be touched they will stay intact. So before unlocking do make a backup of all your applications and store it on your pc and later on put it back on your sd card and download the recovery software you used before to make backup to do restore this time... Hope that would help you.
Isnt your method for 2.3.6? This guy has ics. I have the same tmobile one I simply used hasoon tool to unlock bootloader install recovery and root. Havent done s=off yet. I dont see the point of s=off and supercid yet. Still confused as to if I need them or not

Hi,
Well with regard to just unlocking bootloader the method i sent him would work just fine whether it is ICS or GG. But to install recovery and rooting you need extra steps which he didn't asked for and yes you can do that with the hasoon all in one tool kit.
Can you tell me how you got s-off is wire trick the only way? If so youtube is blocked how can I get that video

Well daniyal i haven't done S-Off yet as i wrote in my previous posts and what i have read in the articles and discussions its a little cumbersome method to achieve that since i haven't done it myself. For youtube part if you want to use youtube you can download and use hotspot shield. Just download it and connect it and it will allow you to use youtube. I hope this helps you.
Also studying in Pakistan and a question does your phone have tmobile logo? If so then do the ph85img method mentioned earlier (don't worry it won't mess up your device) and you don't really need to s-off if you use 4ext recovery which is the best imo. Right now I am on vacation (back in us) but I come back first week of january if you still can't figure this out or feel too scared just call me up (I will pm you my number) and I can walk you through it on the phone quite simple (and if you want to s-off and I can help you with that too) would do it personally if you were in karachi...

That will be great whenever you are back. I used titanium backup to remove most tmobile bloatware but would prefer someone to help me out soff and flashing the tmobile free rom with ics

Well this is great to have some to talk to in person. It would be doubly great if you could help out with the original questions i posted in the start of my thread. Thanks.
If you want to update it to ICS, most likely, you will have to S-Off it, as there are probably no RUUs that will work with your phone's CID.
It would be helpful if you told us what your CID was. To obtain the CID code from your phone, use the included attachment, extract it to an accessible location, and then boot your phone in FASTBOOT mode, not the BOOTLOADER mode. After you boot in there, plug in the USB cable to the computer.
After you've done that, double click on the file, CID.bat
Let the command run, and then go in the folder where you extracted the files to, and there should be a file called CIDNUMBER.log. Copy the result and then post it here.

Anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there is a RUU you can use with that CID.
It *IS* possible to have the phone update to ICS, but what is *NOT* possible (as of now, because of no RUU for your CID), is to have the phone downgrade back to GB if you need it for warranty purposes. In this scenario, it's an one way street.
You have 2 options really, to leave your phone as is, or to S-OFF the phone in order to update the phone to ICS.

In either case to update to ICS or to get the locked (not relocked) status back with S-on for warranty purposes i need to do S-off isn't that right?
Well for now my amaze is unlocked and rooted so warranty is out of the window and i cant get it back to locked status it always says relocked so i would like to move forward and then with the help of guys like you i would like to get back to original stock if possible.
so whats the next step for me to get my phone to ICS? If i have to do S-off whats the easiest way of achieving it and after achieving it what are the next steps to perform upgradation?
I have a question. I have s-on and rooted my phone and installed twrp while having unlocked bootloader. I want to install 4ext as someone told me thats better on here. Do i have to uninstall twrp or I can just use hansoon tool to install 4ext and it will over right twrp?

[Q] How to Unlock Relocked Bootloader?

Hi there guys, I rooted my HTC One a couple of months ago. But now I want to go back to stock. So I watched this tutorial video on how to unroot my HTC One and got to the part where I'm supposed to relock my bootloader.
I had to stop the process because the application he recommended wouldn't run on my Windows 7.
So, I'm stuck with a relocked bootloader and S-on.
I thought about converting my device to Google Play Ed but realized that I may not have the right skills for that just yet so now, I just want to go back to stock 4.3 but when I selected Recovery, it showed "***Security Warning***" right below "***Tampered***" and "***Relocked***".
After 2 restarts it disappeared but I'm scared that it might appear again.
I really want to just go back to stock. I've looked in the past threads and didn't find a solution on how to unroot specifically for relocked bootloaders.
I would really appreciate some help please.

Did you use rumrunner to s-off? Are you using a patched/modified hboot? Whatever method you used to s-off, you have to use the reverse of that, or you could brick your device. The answer to your question lies in the method you used to s-off your device.
I'm not saying this is going to help you, but I did a simple google search when I did this, and this helped me:
http://androidforums.com/internatio...stock-revone-moonshine-s-off.html#post5918438
It says it's S-ON though.. Do I Make it S-OFF first then unroot it? I thought it would be S-OFF because I rooted it. Should i try rumrunner to turn it to S-OFF?
