Help..CWM recovery not working - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

PHONE GETS STUCK ON SAMSUNG's LOGO..
When I go into recovery mode it shows this:
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
Warning: No file_contexts
E: can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
Moreover when I try to to install zip from sdcard or external sd card..it's shows the following:
E: can't mount/sdcard/
To resolve this issue I tried flashing to stock firmware from sammobile using Odin v3.07.
But it shows failed every time..
NEED HELP ASAP!!!

Your partition structure is damaged, possibly due to nand memory failure.
Try flashing the rescue firmware (search in general forum) but make sure you follow the guide as it also includes a pit file.

Recovery Issue

First off, I flashed everything as normal, followed instruction for flashing Blitzkrieg to the T and everything went fine.
When the phone first booted I had issues with installing market apps because I guess I was ridiculously low on space, but I'm not sure how. I resolved that using the Format USB Storage and lost all my data, which was expected and everything works fine now.
Now I'm getting errors in recovery, which are stated below:
E: Can't mount CACHE: recovery/command
E:Can't Mount /dev/block/stl11
(File exists)
E: Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
E: Can't open CACHE:recovery/log
E: Can't mount /dev/block/stl11

Because of this error, I'm now unable to make and restore nandroid backups and such.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
Just odin back to stock

So go back to stock and follow the same steps as before?

Odin back, then follow instructions carefully when flashing gingerbread roms because they are a little more tricky to flash.
In the blitzkrieg rom install instructions, he offered two ways to flash it. Which method did you use?
I used the bootloader method while on project v and the 1.2ghz kernel for gingerbread. Although I could not get heimdall to work right so I used odin instead and everything worked fine.

CWM Recovery - E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command

Last night I decided to install ClockworkMod Touch Recovery 5.8.0.2. I downloaded the image file from this link:
http://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.0.2-shooter.img
I then used Flash Image GUI from the Play store to install the recovery. Everything seemed to work just fine. I was able to boot into recovery and the touch features worked.
Today, I created a backup using ROM Manager and it appeared to complete properly. However, now when I boot into Recovery, I get these errors:
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
I've tried re-flashing the regular (non-touch) Recovery using ROM Manager and it installs, but I'm still getting the same errors when I boot into Recovery.
I can boot my phone normally and everything works just fine. I just can't do anything with Recovery anymore so I'm stuck on this ROM until I find a solution.
Does anyone know how I can fix this?

So based on that post, you're saying my issues lie on the SD Card, and not the internal memory?
Yup

I ended up fixing this by following the steps outlined here to return to 100% stock:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193540
I then ran the Revolutionary tool to get S-OFF and manually flashed ClockworkMod Recovery via Fastboot.
I'm now back in business!
Glad you got back up and running.

what do i do if i have this problem with CWM root but its the internal card?
Hi guys, I have this problem too after following this guide: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zdhyDky2MI
I've also read this issue is present on stock roms only, but I'm wondering if this could be a potential issue for mounting the /sdcard and use it.

[Q] Unable to download off market, unable to mount /cache partition

Hi
I have searched and read through most solutions and nothing has worked. I even tried a few which corrupted my sd-card, twice.
When booting into recovery I get this response:
E:failed to find "cache" partition to mount at "/cache"
E:failed to mount /cache/recovery/command
E:failed to find "cache" partition to mount at "/cache"
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:failed to find "cache" partition to mount at "/cache"
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
E:failed to find "cache" partition to mount at "/cache"
Can't format cache or mount it through recovery. I haven't bothered trying to download anything from the Play Store in a while, but when I do try now I get a response saying, "Insufficient space on device."
I have tried clearing the Market cache, wiping Dalvik cache and even factory resetting the phone. NONE have worked.
I would appreciate any help at this point :/
I thank you for your time.
Flash a full ftf with flashtool
Sent from my Xperia Neo V using XDA
Can't say I haven't tried that :/ Did it again anyways, still no help.
Did the stock from flash OK? If it did there's nothing wrong physically what rom / kernel are you using
Sent from my Xperia Neo V using XDA
Yeah it flashed okay. I used the MT15i_4.0.2.A.0.42_Global firmware, stock kernel.
So far it's only Cyanogen that doesn't flash to the phone, and as I said, the Market that doesn't work.. and I really need to get something from there
Thanks for your replies.
I would download a new copy of the rom, reflash stock so that you know your partitions are good, boot it, flash another kernel that has recovery, check its working then try cm again.
Sent from my Xperia Neo V using XDA
Downloaded .62 firmware. Booted fine.
Loaded a kernel with Recovery. Still have the problem.
Even tried FXP125 CM9. Doesn't boot.
Thanks for taking the time though. Really appreciate the help

[Q] help cant reinstall packages

trying to reinstal packages on my samsung vibrant it says cant mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0) (invalid argument) E: cant mount SDCARD:update.zip installation aborted. need help plz
Have you ever encountered the Encryption unsuccessful screen on an ICS ROM , aka the EU bug? I have seen this error before, your internal sd could be corrupted. Read this and see if you have had similar problems http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046360.
Edit - If you are on the official T-mobile 2.2 ROM then the update.zip will not work, you must first flash back to stock 2.1 with Odin or heimball.

[Q] [HELP] (Desperate) soft bricked INTL GT-I9300 after encryption error with CM 11

UPDATE: After five days, I'm sending my phone to service centre. Tomorrow, they will tell me what's the status of the device. I'll keep you posted and again, thanks to all who replied this post.
Hello everyone,
Yesterday my GT-i9300 with CM 11 was bricked after giving an encryption error. Now it stays in Samsung Galaxy logo screen.
After rebooting in recovery mode (CWM 6.0.4.6) it reads:
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_install
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_install
I tried to wipe data/factory reset with no luck. Here's the message:
-- Wiping data. . .
Formatting /data
Error mounting /data!
Skipping format...
Formatting /cache...
E: format_volume: make_extf4fs faild on /dev/block/mmcblk0p8
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_install
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_install
Formatting /sd-ext
E: Unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]
Formatting /sdcard/.android-secure...
Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure!
Skipping Format . . .
Data Wipe Complete.
Thus, I get an error when mounting /efs /system /cache and /preload /data and as a consequence, I cannot format any of the partitions.
Finally, I thought connecting through Odin and getting back to stock rom firmware was the solution, but everytime I try this, I receive an NAND WRITE START FAIL error.
I'm guessing I'll have to use a .PIT file to repartiion but it is impossible since ODIN can't even start a WRITE on NAND. I tried use adb shell instead and repartition with heimdall with no luck.
Please help. Everyone knows what does it feel to see your phone like that. This situation is really stressing :'(
Thanks in advanced.
PS: My phone has no longer warranty coverage
Sounds like nand memory failure, if the rescue firmware from general forum doesn't work then you'll need a new motherboard.

Yes I also thought that. I believe there has something in relation to having the phone encrypted (Actually, CM11 encrypted the filesystem). Doing some reading, I came in to this link that might help -> https://gist.github.com/L-P/7285035#3-obtain-the-partition-number-for-userdata. The problem is that right now, adb shell cannot grant me root permissions (strangely, yesterday was working fine).
Thanks
