Been a while since I opened XDA so naturally I wasn't able to stay upto date with the latest updates, and I found that this thread was really outdated and unorganized so I will make a whole clean over.
V12 Is released, fixing permissions and the fuss to get weather to work, the original developer made a new thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735764
Check it out and thank the developer.
He cleaned his thread and made a clear guide. I will try to keep up to date and update this thread if any news come up. So Far this only works on 4.4 .
Have fun,

There seems to be an issue with the port, somehow when I flash the zip, the network seems to be lost. so there is no signal after you flash the zip. Looking for a fix now.

For the moment I am not interested in getting the weather to work, but for those who are interested here are the instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51617592&postcount=607
Download weather.apk from here :http://d-h.st/l8M
Using a file explorer or ADB, copy it to /system/priv-app/ and set file permissions to rw--r-r or 644. I won't give instructions on how to do this, as there are already many guides that teach you this!
Go to Add Account in Settings (System Settings) and add the HTC Weather service as an account.
It should now be listed alongside your Google Account, etc. in Settings, and the Weather icon should have updated in Blinkfeed.
To enable the weather and clock widget at the top of Blinkfeed, set Blinkfeed as your default homescreen by pinching out, and dragging Blinkfeed to the top where it says "Set as default".
Thanks to @usaff22

UPDATE: v10 is out, Twitter is working fine, files are cleaned , you don't have to remove or edit the zip for signal to work. I think it will not clash with the carbon rom files so i think you don't have to worry about the freezes..

This is a theme for chrmhoffmann's CM9 rom. I based it on 0.5.3, but it should work on any version. it makes you tabet look and feel more like the Win 8 Metro UI.
to install:
flash the included zip
download desktop visualizer from the play store
download a file manager, I prefer ES Explorer
download and extract the MetroUItiles.zip to an easy to navigate place on the SD card
download ADW launcher, and copy adw_ex_settings from the MetroUITiles folder to the root of your sdcard
go into ADW launcher and click restore settings
open up desktop visualizer and use these settings for best effect:
ouch Effect : None
Default Vibration : On
Text Colour : Doesn’t matter as you shall be deleting the text for each tile
Background Colour : Transparent
Widget Usage : Deselected all apart from 4x4 as this is the only one you shall be using
Next place a 4x4 desktop visualizer widget on your homescreen
click on it, and when it says select image click it, open your file manager to your metrouitiles folder, and click on categories for a category, or the size you want for a specific app, and select it
under app to open select none for categories, or corresponding app to open for the others.

I will as soon as I have time. Ive already been doing a lot of work on my Evo, learning rom development, and most of my work and learning isnt on XDA. but ive been thinking of switching over to the nook tablet as my main dev device, and this will get me started. Ill start with adding this into a rom, then porting over sense if I can.
I have recently got back onto the development scene, and might try updating this for the newer ROMs we got now. Anybody specific ones anyone wants?

Are you talking about the one above, or the one I emailed you? The one I emailed you is V1. I did it as a two step process. If it flashes fine, then I can move onto step two and finish the port for you Nexus 7. If not I need to start all over again. Also the flashable is only a small part of the theme, the main thing is the widgets you want to setup following either the guide in this post, or brobots website. Just replace the flashable zip with the one for your device.
Hey Guys, I found this from the Galaxy S3 thread linked below,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1898262
So I wanted to test this out in the new Omega Rom for Note and it worked perfectly. The transparent widgets fit the screen well and have no issues. So this should work on rooted stock roms as well.
I want to give my credits to kashortiexda for posting these. Files can be downloaded from the links below
Accuweather Transparent
FM Radio Transparent
Music Player Transparent
Instructions:
1, Download the required apk file and copy them to your sd card.
2, Use a root explorer tool and browse to the system/app folder. Mount the folder as r/w
3, Rename the apps, for ex., AccuweatherWidget.apk to AccuweatherWidget.apkbak
4, Copy Paste the transparent apk files to this folder and set permissions to rw -r -r. Reboot the phone
5, The widgets can now be used. Please make sure that these widgets are not there on the homescreens before replacing to avoid FCs.
Enjoy. Hope you like it guys. Thanks
Funny! Just today I was thinking how much I miss a transparent weather widget. With the WeatherWall wallpaper I really didn't need a superimposed image to spoil the effect.
I can confirm that it works with stock (rooted) ROM.
Thanks. :good:

Hi, as I mentioned, this was posted by another member on the S3 section. And I was curious enough to test all the transparent widgets on the Note 2. Unfortunately, the ones that worked were these 3. The SPlanner made no effect and clock packages kept force closing. I will keep testing to find a suitable one and will update my thread if i do get it. Cheers
Great job my friend !

Hi there, just a simple request please. fnut kindly provided me with his Rosie apk including settings menu options, landscape Rosie and no app labels. It worked perfectly on my device, however it wiped my other Rosie mods.. transparent nav bar and 5 x 6 app drawer.
For some reason all the landscape Rosie mods lag a lot on my device and I'm not to fussed about having it.
Really all I'm after is the no label Rosie, I tried replacing the Rosie_shortcut.m10 file from fnut into my own Rosie but it crashes it on boot up with a 'HTC dialer has stopped working' error.
Any ideas what's up? I can attach my Rosie apk if you need it.
Thanks again for the lock screen mod.

Makes the BBC Weather widget have a fully transparent background, which can look much more pleasing overlaid onto your wallpaper.
This is my first attempt at an Xposed module, so a bit rough around the edges internally - please go easy on me! :fingers-crossed:
It has two settings:
1. Hide/show the background of the BBC Weather widget.
2. Hide/show the "BBC Weather" logo, in case it clutters up the artistic balance of your homescreen.
Requirements:
Android 3.0+ and ROOT
Xposed Framework
BBC Weather widget
Install Instructions
1. Install the Xposed installer app
2. Install the Xposed framework (using the Xposed installer app)
3. Install the Clean BBC Weather Widget module and reboot the phone as instructed.
4. To tinker with the two (!) options, activate the module using the Xposed installer app (or find it in the app drawer) and use the Settings menu.
Due to my limited know-how, the settings don't get saved until you exit out of the Setting screen, and they don't take effect until the BBC's widget is restarted. That can be done either by restarting your launcher, or rebooting your phone if your launcher can't be restarted easily.
The source code is at the project home page on Google Code. The project name is clean-bbc-weather (sorry I can't post links yet).
All the best!
Paul

I have created a mod using the VRTheme template to allow several of the stock HTC widgets to work on other launchers. I have only tested this on my rooted, but stock AT&T M9 running the 1.32.502.31 ROM.
To use this mod, you have to have Sense running on your ROM and the widgets already need to be installed. This mod is only designed to modify the widgets so that you can use them on launchers besides Sense Home.
To make this work, I decompiled the above apk files and dug around in the manifest to try and figure out what was preventing them from showing up in the other widget pickers. I figured out that for each of the widgets, there was an xml folder that controls aspects of the widget. In these xml files I found a line that was: htcControlFlag="1" By removing this from the xml or changing it to htcControlFlag="0", the widget is now free to be used. I recompiled the widget apk files and then just removed the modded xmls and put them all in this VRTheme template.
If you try this mod, please be sure to backup your system partition first. Also, ask any questions and I can elaborate on this thread later. Or add more of the widgets.
I would love some feedback from people running the international versions.
Updated 7/20/15: I found that the Android 5.1 version of the rom requires a new MOD. So I renamed the original one to reference the 5.0.2 ROM and the new one to reference the 5.1 ROM.
Updated 8/16/2015: I am told that the 5.1 version works on the older 5.0.2 ROMs. I have not verified this myself, but others have.
Change Log:

Hey that's great, but I think Venom Roms already have this in them. I used to run Venom on my M8 and I could use these widgets in Nova Launcher. That was actually my inspiration for figuring out how to do it.
Updated the OP to add a new MOD for the 5.1 ATT ROM. I am still not sure if these work on the equivalent international versions, so if anyone tries it please let me know.

Using your mod I am now able to use another launcher.
Thanks again.

So did the mod I made with the 5.1 files actually work on the 5.0.2 ROM? If so, that is great news. Because I couldn't get it to work the other way around.

V1.2 is up with the calculator widget included. It takes a minute or so for the widget to fully appear, but it works once it shows up on the screen.
Thanks for you work! :good:
