Download .10 ICS firmware, install its kernel only, use root button in FlashTool
Then, optional but very recommended, reflash kernel only of the ROM you're using... and make a TA backup if you consider getting back to 100% original status important

mgyun.com/vroot.. 1 click and your phone will rooted (working on LB/UB)

i think you shouldn't, it maybe bricked ur phone
1. Unlock bootloader via SE bootloader_unlocking_relocking (run as admin)
2. Flash kernel as you like (with the same app)
3. Flash RoM with Flashtool
And this?

Not sure, but just use downgrade upgrade method, it's simple and it works and ics firmware on these xperia devices is unrootable without downgrade or flashing a custom kernel...

[Xperia S]Root Question on 6.1.A.2.45

OK....now that we have a new ftf file(6.1.A.2.45)....some of us had a clean instal with wipping everything! And we lost our root acces!
The question is...How can we root the new firmware on unlocked bootloader? The old methods work olso for this firmware or we must wait for a kernel with root acces?

Yes...but the Advanced Stok Kernel doesn`t have the old ramdisk?
I understand that in this version(6.1.A.2.45) the ramdisk is newer and we get more free ram with it!By installing the Advanced Stock Kernel don`t we also install the old ramdisk?
Have you tried the method described here?

A clean install for any new rom i think is recomended if you want the full optimisation of it!The question stands still...How do we root a clean install of 6.1.A.2.45 ?

you can flash the stock kernel via flashtool. It will retain your root.
So leave the box ticked for kernel?

Thank you. This method works.
Just to recap, fastboot flash adv stock 14, then reboot normally until home screen. Reboot into fastboot again and flash stock kernel.sin from FTF. Root is retained.
But you'll lose CWM won't you? Even tho you'll be rooted?

Offcourse you will, and guess we have to wait for it for a little while. But for now, the root access works good for me =)
Flash whatever you need while on adv stock 14 before going back to stock. Then wait for adv stock 15
You can try this, I have not tried it though:
CWM for Xperia S/Acro HD

[HELP]Stock ROM

Hey XU guys!
I have an ST25i and I need a bit of help.
I am running an unknown ROM that I don't know how to fix. If any of you have...
-An Xperia U ST25i
-Rooted
-CWM installed
-Stock ROM and Kernel
Can you...
Go into CWM. Go into advanced. And do create firmware.zip and send it to me. I need it back to stock and PCC and Flashtool won't work.
Thanks!

Well my problem is that I am running a ROM that is not stock
I would like to revert back to it so I may get OTA updates.
In Pcc it said my phone was already updated.
And I cannot install Flashtool. I tried to use it to root my XU and it never worked.
PS what is sus?
Thanks

Yes but I now know what from it was. Its called Infinity Smooth Custom System ROM, and as it says in the title, it was only a system ROM, which didn't require a new boot.img to be fastboot flashed.

I could do that but I was looking up if there is a way I could relock the bootloader and restore it with PCC?
Sent from my ST25i
I think you can re lock. Not too sure how it works tho. There are definitely guides around tho!
If you're keeping the phone for yourself tho I'd keep it unlocked and just flash cm9. It'll be far faster and smoother than stock
Sent from my Android 4.2.1 Xperia S
Couple of things.
First of all thanks for all of your help.
Secondly, I am keeping it for myself, but I'm a tad concerned about installing a custom ROM and Kernel.
I have heard of CyanogenMod and apparently they offer a near stock experience. But as Flashtool is not working for me, if I fastboot flash the boot.img then would that mean I could never revert back to stock?
Sent from my ST25i using xda app-developers app
Yea you can always revert back to stock. But I promise you'll never want too. Lol. If you already have cwm then all you need to do is download the cm9 zip and flash in recovery (following instructions in the thread as to what to wipe)
As for flashtool, have you installed all the drivers from the drivers file?

Unlocking bootloader :
Issues:
1) Sony will charge you for repairs if you brick your phone and take it to them as your warranty is void .( Work around available ref. relocking bootloader)
2) DRM (digital Rights Management) keys are lost forever , i.e. Track id and Download music info wont work ( Work around available :highfive: )
Benefits :
1)Total control over your phone !
2)Can install FXP Roms ! (super fast !)
3)Can change kernels to optimize battery
Hope this helps
Bravia Engine works in videos (stock Sony movie app, MX Player HW mode) but doesn't work in photos at all. At least on Sola, don't know how it is on P.

As far as i know, with an unlocked bootloader, you cannot use pcc or sus.
Apps like track id,download music info in walkman may not work.
Bravia engine will also not work because you would lose your drm keys forever.
