That has to literally be the worst description of a phone I have seen. This would be the equivalent of walking into the mechanic to get your car fixed and you ask him, "Hey, can you fix my car? It's the one with 4 wheels." Not trying to be a jerk, but this is meant to be a community to learn and get some help, not a request line. I suggest you do some more research on which phone you have. This might not be easy due to the nature of cheap Chinese android phones that rarely have much documentation, but it's quite possible there is already a development community specifically for your phone (which also might have clones that use the same or similar software that could be used). But if that's something that you can't be bothered to do, then the amount of time and research needed to properly mod your phone probably is going to be more than you are ready for as well.

Nope. Not yet.
I don't see why it matters to anyone why someone wants this.
I want this too. I don't have to explain to anyone as to why I want it. Because, it is absolutely none of your business. If you don't know how to implement it, then don't post.
Lol. This is a public forum. Of course you don't have to explain why you want something. Equally, if someone who could help doesn't want to, because they suspect you're up to no good, they don't have to justify their actions either, let alone help you. Blessed be.

Touché. I'll admit it. The main reason I want this is to mess with my friends. Nothing actually detrimental. Same reason I like sms bombers, and caller id fakers.
But still, this would be great to add on to my list
This would be so awesome..just from a security standpoint to be able to show and explain to friends and family to not there guards down when it comes to cyber theft and to turn off your radios when not in use
I never quite understand answers like this. This forum is for the exchange of information, not personal opinions. People that think their some kind of 'ethics police' need not be on this type of site. This site is for the exploration, hacking and development of our phones. Rooting & custom firmware is frowned upon by security researchers and manufacturers alike, but because your into it, it's morally correct?

Yep, one man's "not needed" is another man's necessity. This is no less needed than say someone thinking they need a ps3 controller (or wiimote) working with their phone, but no one really complains about that.
here's a very legitimate reason for you so if you know how PM me
Hi,
A friend of mine has an older mobile with a broken touchscreen - the phone no longer has a SIM or a RAM card and is in "Music Sync" mode when it connects to a PC via USB.
They are currently in a court case and need to get their old SMS's off the broken phone - all the "forensic" mobile software out there (from $500 up to $5000!!!) require that the phone is in PC-Suite (or PC-Sync) mode. This can't be changed on the phone as the touchscreen doesn't work.
The only way to get to the SMS's is by Bluesnarfing, so if you know of a PC program or a WinMo 6.5 program that will let me access their phone PM me.
Thanks.
Why is there always that one person that offers no assistance, takes up bandwidth questioning your motives...
For those that don't know:
"Bluesnarfing is the theft of information from a wireless device through a Bluetooth connection, often between phones, desktops, laptops, and PDAs. This allows access to a calendar, contact list, emails and text messages. Bluesnarfing is much more serious in relation to Bluejacking, although both exploit others’ Bluetooth connections without their knowledge. Any device with its Bluetooth connection turned on and set to “discoverable” (able to be found by other Bluetooth devices in range) can be attacked. By turning off this feature you can be protected from the possibility of being Bluesnarfed. Since it is an invasion of privacy, Bluesnarfing is illegal in many countries."

Little bit of back story/lead up to my question. I'm a helpdesk geek for a company and all the technicians are getting ready to switch to a tablet device. I want to be able to (in windows speak here) make an image of one device and be able to flash it to all 65 of these things I'm getting (I'm assuming same device...but you never know). I'd like to do this as quickly and efficiently as possible.
My questions are...
1. If I want to do something like this am I going to have to root these?
2. What is a good program to make an "image" of these things? Should I image these things or try and create an SBF file and go that route?
3. Why didn't I ask for a raise when they told me I would be supporting so damn many new devices?
Thanx much

4. Why do you call yourself a geek? Please tell me your not in the Best Buy Geek Squad?
Sorry if I sound like a ****, but don't call yourself a geek then ask for help to set up your IT department because you were stupid enough to tell the powers that be that you were a geek and could do it for them.
BTW........I know I am assuming a lot, but it's pretty easy to do so given your OP.
BTW#2.........65 devices is nothing. That's a weeks worth of work for one IT individual to set up and integrate into the infrastructure.
BTW#3..............Ask for a raise when you know what you are doing!
How do you expect to get the right answer to your questions if the thread is totally OFF-Topic? You should look for another place. Definitely not the right place

Thats a big question for the Atrix forums, you may have better luck getting an answer in the xda forums that aren't device specific (since the devices you will be receiving are unknown currently). Maybe here.? What is it exactly you want across devices? apps? roms? nandroid?
Good luck finding an answer! And hopefully you get your raise! When I am at work later I will be thinking about you and all those tablets your getting paid to play with.
I never told anyone I could do this. Boss came in to me and said this will be your project. Since I'm not sure of the devices, I'd figured I'd ask here first. As to the geek...force of habit (no, I don't work for Best Buy). Was just looking for a little advice on which way to proceed.
Well it wont work creating sbf files as you cannot sign them. Unless of course you ask motorola kindly for the private key

When I assigned the project to you, I assumed you knew most of the stuff you were bragging daily. Oh boy, am I wrong.
I am also on this forum frequently. Looks like I know more about the stuff then you. I did think about a small raise and BTW it was approved. But now I am looking for ways to put the raise under my name.
Hey everybody,
I'm lookin for an app to remote controll android devices from each other, like teamviewer for pc!
Lot's of my (female lol) friends have problems with their phones sometimes and keep asking me, how can i do this or that and how does stuff work....
Often they wan't my help in a phone call and don't get what I'm telling them cause they don't understand the simplest things, or their phone has a diffrent look and it's hard to explain to them what they should do or lead them to the right menu or, or, or.....
So I am looking for a app witch works like Teamviewer, so i can see there screens and just do it for them via remote
I thougt I've seen something in the xda portal someday but don't remember a name....
Has anyone a suggestion for an app to do that??? Oh and it should work without root and easy like teamviewer (at least for the host)......
Thanks in advance!

I don't know of anything free and this ecosystem is still very limited due to the phone manufacturers (as I was told by the company I will mention). Most of the softwares require you to have a license with them and then add on Smartphone devices for support which can be really costly. The software my company was already using,ScreenConnect (sorry can't post an URL), just released a app for Samsung devices. I played around with it on my buddy'[s S4 for a bit the other day. Prior to this ScreenConnect could take and send a screenshot to technician but they couldn't remote control the phone. I'm really glad phone manufacturers are starting to open this up and I can't wait until they get it across the board. I don't have high hopes for Apple at all though. Allowing something like remote control is most likely beyond what they are going to allow for a long time. Hope this helps a little.

Look at this. The moderator has deleted several posts from me. Also I've been banned three times, just to complain about the problems found in the ROM and the bad treatment received by the company.
Never more Mediatek and above all never more UMIDIGI.
Sorry, but not knowing how to use a product is different from the product being bad.
I was going to answer you, but ... I'll just ignore you.
Not worth it.
That's fine. But in that thread all you've posted is that there's "problems" with battery, camera and Bluetooth. You've posted no details. Kinda makes it hard for them to help you. And, as an aside, there's not many other people reporting the same issues. That's a very long way from being "bugs" that affect all units/users.
Interesting, a whole thread full of users who do not know how to use their mobile and can not distinguish a bug from its clumsiness.
Luckily we have experts like you who know how to light our way.
Thank you for your valuable help.
I have an umi z and i definitiefly say "dont buy any umi phone !!!"
It's true ,my battery gets swollen after 3 month of normal using and you have no chance to get a simple answer to your mails to the support team.
On a umidigi forum a "developer " just talking bull**** to us customer.

I really love the fan boys who use the phone no more than to browse facebook and make calls. We posted the issues they are the ones who did not ask for details. Al they do is saying "oh, we dont have that problem on our testing devices". learn to read more or come earlier to read the deleted posts and maybe you find more about how useless umidigi is.
Just saying that if the vast majority of users aren't having those issues then you've been unlucky or there's something else wrong.

The vast majority does not know what a damn 4k is altough the processor supports. The vast majority does not now what Volte is and does not needs it because they dont know what it does. The vast majority does not use bluetooth as a principle. The vast majority has the phone to say it is deca core without knowing what that really is
I bought a Plum Gator 3 phone roughly 3 years ago, because as a rugged phone, it was described as being more durable than other phones on the market (which I now know is true, and its why I love rugged tech). Unfortunately, because of Google Play being bloatware, and because of Google itself being known to do some pretty insidious things, I now want Android off of my phone. I've tried looking up tutorials on how to root it, but its as if most information about this phone has disappeared off of the face of the Earth. Any help?

Missed the [developers only] tag when you decided to post here? Welcome to XDA but please read up on some rules first. The thread will probably be closed soon but let me give you a quick reply nonetheless.
Replacing it with what? A Linux distribution like that doesn't even exist for your device? Mind that you have a Mediatek processor, which has the worst support already. Let alone a brand that no one heard of and 1GB of RAM that would bring you nothing but trouble if it were possible to install something else. If you want to avoid Android, I'm afraid your only options are iOS (as if Apple doesn't participate in insidious practices) or going back to a Nokia 3310 (yay, Snake!) or similar.
Another in my opinion better option, is going for a device à la OnePlus, Pixel or Poco that has an established development community and patch the heck out of it to block out anything related to Google. You will not achieve this on your current device, ever. Sorry to disappoint ya [emoji52]

I was informed by a private message from some guy named Matt that my post was moved to Android Q&A, Help and Troubleshooting. Also, my answer to your question about what I'd replace Android with would've been Ubuntu Touch. Not to sound like I have blind arrogance, but reading your response made me wonder if it's possible to replace the processor with one that has much better support, and replace the ram with one that has more gigs? I understand that every piece of hardware has to be compatible with each other, and sometimes you're lucky enough to find replacement parts that are. Other times, it ends up being a waste of time and money. If it is possible, I also understand it will be more of a pain in the ass than it needs to be just to replace the parts and then see if I'm lucky enough to even root it, but if it allows me to be one step closer to accomplishing my goal, then all I can do is be cautious when seeing what happens. However, if, in your expert opinion, it isn't possible, I'll just dump it and use the Alcatel Go Flip 3 I bought yesterday as a back up phone.
