Hi,
Trying to upgrade the firmware of S2 from KE8 to KF3. And at some point of time during download/upgrade of firmware, I am getting this error:
'Notice - F : PC fails to recognize the mobile phone'
It then asks to remove battery and restart. Tried this, but with no luck.
Can someone please suggest how I can get this done.
I am on Windows 7(64-bit)

i faced something similar just last week ,,it was Windows 7 causing this .,.when i tried it on Windows Xp it worked ,,,ma b u shud try same
Try changing the USB port the phone is pluged into.
Thanks for the suggestions. Let me try XP and the port change and hope that makes a difference.

Kies sucks, you can just odin on a stock firmware, see the thread in dev&hacking with the list of then all plus download links.

Thanks for all the replies. I could successfully upgrade using XP. Also the battery life has increased leaps and bounds after the upgrade. Very impressive!!!

hi everyone ... i have really serious problem with my gt-i9100g in usb connection mode when i try to connect to my pc its not showing any thing (just charging) am try all the ways before i post the thread (factory rest ..install and reinstall the kies and driver,format my laptop,, use another pc...*#7284#,,,usb debugging mode,,,usb storage mode ) i have done every thing and i am still stuck??????? am using GB 2.3.6 stock rom and i used another rom like superatom rom and kernel's (using mobile odin) flash it with stock rom's via(mobile odin) ???any ideas

but one thing can you access your usb through cwm.i am sorry i am trying to help i once had the same issue but i just rebooted the device and it worked fine.try this if it doesn't work uninstall the drivers and every trace of them and unistall kies and dont install it again then reinstall the drivers when you connect your phone.but i dont understand one thing why do you have kies installed anyway i never installed yet my phone works fine with my computer.last thing if nothing works then try changing your usb cable.

I think its hardware problem in the usb it self .....i used the kies o.e time on my life and thien the problem is starred ...i dont need kies the mobile odin do all job ..perfectly ...but some times u need the ****in kies ....thank u bro

Yes man i try 4-5 usb cables nothing happin....but somtimes when convert the pda ----->to modem the pc start to load some drivers but all of thiem unkown for the pc (thats only in modem mode )by hitting *#7284#..
Do i should vist the Samsung center ?????:-(

i think it will be best if you go to samsung center.if you cant fix the problem on your own then ask samsung center to identify the problem.one thing i want to ask when did this problem start and how.also do you pull the usb cable carelessly because it could have damaged the port.

I had this problem when i had upgraded to 2.3.6
You can solve this, first go to downloading mode and reboot by long pressing power button then go to recovery mode and reboot.
for me it solved usb connection problem.

what a serious problem you have i mean most of our suggestions would fix your problem but one thing i want to ask you were able to flash? then that rules out damage usb port.but if i find a fix i will tell you,see if you can identify the problem.but if you were able to flash then it is either bad drivers or damaged usb cable.
When th GB 2.3.6released its was working very good i used 1clickroot app to root my phone and start using the mobile odin app to flash Rom and kernels (from the phone itself )i think u know this app and it can root any Rom without need to any pc to do it ...am starting to think to send it to the Samsung care center ....this phone will made me crazy bro ....and thank very much man to try to helps in this phone issue .

My cell phone goes into download mode but the pc does not detect it and therefore I can not flash a stock rom.
Have you or someone thing of something like this....

I forgot to say that when the phone is on I can pass file and it detects by kies but when i go to download mode, dont succes anything. I try some tutorials to sgs and sgs2 (my olds phones) and nothing.

Nothing new my downloading mode is dead it dont connect with mi pc. tomorrow its possible I do a video about it for you and other members you see the problem.

Can you try it in another pc?
Anytimes usb ports have fixed to some drivers, you have a lot off tools in windows to identify and delete usb devices and drivers like USBDeview.

+1 This always works for me. Same device in different usb port force windows to start process to identify and fresh install (using preinstalled drivers off course).
Another tip, if you using frontal usb ports, try to use motherboard ports and disconnect any usb device except mobile.

I know it sounds silly but change the USB cable too, If its not working properly it will cause problems. And its likely to be overlooked...

The problem was solved trying my sister's computer. Now I go to download the last original firmware and flash it. I neves have this problem before but for the next time I and you know that the best is try to conect in another computer!

hi guys i flashed a samsung galaxy sii gt-i9100
on a smasung galaxy s ii gt-i9100G
now it wont go to recovery mode (CWM)
but can go to download mode but in my computer the odin doesnt recognize my device so it means i cant flash ROMs
now how can i fix this problem ?? thanx ahead guys

Make sure you have the drivers installed correctly, and make sure Kies is closed (even in task manager)

sir i closed it from TM and i have istalled the drivers correctly but it doesnt appear on odin

Go to www.sammobile.com and download a stock firmware for your device and flash through Odin. Then you can start over

My Samsung Gaxaly S3 isn't connecting to any of my PC, one with Window 7 with Kies and another with Window Vista without Kies.
I've tried three usb cables and I get no notification that a usb is connected, I've also tried in debug mode and nothing. BUT my phone charger does charge the phone.
Any help would be thankful.
(Reason to connect to the PC is so i can root it and reset binary counter)
stop all the background kies processes when you connect the phone in download mode to odin. try all the usb ports. use genuine samsung cable.

should be drivers problem.connect phone via download mode and wait till the drivers are installed. if that's not correct, the usb connection might be faulty.

I've connected to every operating system that i can get my hands on (windows 2000, window xp, windows vista, windows 7 and window 8 and also what ever the latest mac OS is). So now i have no idea what to do, I cant think its the phone since it chargers and i've tryed about 7/8 usb cables. So any idea ?
