Is it at all possible? We want to put non-button Views in our System Bar. We do have system keys for our specific tablet.
One of my friends tried doing it with no success, but I assume he was looking in the wrong places. I don't know what he knows about the process, so I can't say what we've tried.
We're using Android 4.2 .
I guess I should also mention that we've tried this app - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cygery.customnavbar.demo though we haven't been able to find any info on how he got it to work.
bump?

Hello guys,
I have been reading this forum for quite a while and found a lot of useful information here.
So, first of all thank you to all the guys who put some hard work in developing those programs to make our lives and our smartphones better!
So here goes nothing. Just got this LG Optimus LTE phone some days ago.
And it is packed full with apps I don't need and that Docomo prevents us to remove them. Thanks to this the batteries goes bye bye even faster than expected.
So I would love to get root access to get full control.
like: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1376233&page=6
I read some threads, followed some methods -like 4 or 5 different ones- but nothing worked so far... Anyone who had success in that matter?
Really want to get an Optimus LTE (L-01D) but need to know I can root it first.
type this URL in your browser: i can't post links yet. logsoku.com/thread/anago.2ch.net/smartphone/1324176244/
these guys seemed to have tried everything. Scroll to #45, doesn't look like the Japanese version can be rooted.
they tried a bunch of things as well but to no avail.
I'm just curious, but the reason why I want to root it is so that I can get the nook app on it so I can read. I was able to use VPN to download apps on my HTC Desire HD, but when i got the Arrows Tab LTE, i wasn't able to use VPN to get the Nook app. is it possible with the Optimus?

I don't use this app, so that would be a tough question to answer.
Thing is, since docomo pretty much installed and configured the phone as they liked -with a crappy Home, slow as hell, that can be changed though- I am wondering if they would charge you extra for tethering.
They might have installed something to check on that. But this is just a random guess.
After a lot of research, I found this thread:
h t t p : / / houchi.net/products/l01-root
I tried and I successfully managed to root my phone following the instructions.
Heads up, it's all in Japanese BUT, if you just download the archive file and read the content of the files at the root of the folder with a text editor, you can just copy/paste the different instructions to make it work.
If it's too much trouble for some people, contact me and I will try to put the instructions somewhere else in english and with the Mac version of command line (really the same as for Linux).
Did not have time to have fun with it yet, but I removed some of the crap that the carrier bundled with the phone.
I will still have to look why it takes forever to start comparing to a Galaxy S for example (4 minutes is way too long...).
i tried and not successfully, only install Supper Use. You can explain for my by English, more more details
superuser wont work without root, try gingerbreak?
Hello XDA,
I was wondering if there was a way to achieve full market access other then using the CM7 rom? Do any of the other roms/rooting methods under "nook tablet android development" do this? Can anyone confirm?
Thanks for the help.
Root, install gapps, and voila--market access.
I do have market already on my tablet however I know there are some apps that dont show up in the market, I usually side load apps on that dont show up but if I were to just get them from the market it would be much easier and convenient.
Change build.prop to look like nexus S that mod is in apps & themes section, still wont give you all access but its the best you can do. Also if you're outside the US download market unlocker from android market.

You need to edit the build.prop for that. It's not very hard, but can be a little tricky. Search around (here or on google) and you'll find good instructions on that. The following thread links to quite a few helpful tips and tricks for NT, and editing build.prop is one of them:

Good luck, and let us know how it goes!
Thanks for all your help everyone. I should have done the smart thing and looked at the Intro/Newbie Thread. I was able to modify the build.prop, looks like Ill have to stick with it for now, not exactly what I wanted but its a start. I shall just have to wait till the new CM7 is released.
Hello!
I have been looking for it some time and I couldn't find anything specific.
I know that is not possible switch between 2G and 3G in a stock ROM except from Settings.
But I also know that some CyanogenMOD have a button than can switch in the status bar.
Why isn't possible switch between 2G and 3G using a widget or an app (even being root!)? Why is not possible emulate the Settings button? Is not possible even recompiling some parts of Android (and making an apk or something to install via Recovery)?
I know the short answer "because Google doesn't allow it", but I'm looking for a technical one.
Thank-you very much.
Thats a rather advanced feature, and most stock ROM's are set up for noobs. They dont put that feature in there because they dont expect the majority of users to use it.

So, is it possible to make a custom STOCK rom that allows a widget or a program (like Tasker) to switch between 2G/3G?
Where could I find more information about this topic?
Thank-you very much for your answer and your time.
SOLUTION
I was able to do it in my stock rom by following this guide
give him a big thank
This is propably easy for someone but im a noob.
Im trying to create an apk to android with AIDE.
I need info how to make the app show my normal ui. I mean that it runs on backround.
Any coding help is appreciated. I tried googling but could not find anything.
I want to hide the statusbar with my app.
I tried googling but i suck at googling.
2hrs and no help.
I've been going over the android sdk for the past year to find out if there is a way to change the network type(2g/3g/4g), in phones with root access. However I couldn't find any way to do this.Asking around, someone told me that I could do this using reflection,by calling a method on a phone instance.Looking through the source code,I did find a setPrefferedNetworkType(); method in the Phone Interface, inside the internal telephony package. Is there anyway I can use this to solve my problem.I can't seem to find a way to get an instance of a class that implements the interface.Or is there any other way to do it entirely? Please help :crying::crying:
If u are rooted why not use Xposed?

Not clear on exactly what you are trying to do... The settings to switch to different network types should be built-in. They are on MOST phones. This is a useful app for other situations where you can't access those settings:

I don't think you guys got what I was talking about.I know that there are built in settings to change it.But I want to build a widget that makes it easier to switch between networks. So I need to know how to do this with the api.
