I PROJECT IS ON HOLD UNTIL MY TRUESMART ARRIVES. THIS TOOL IS CURRENTLY ONLY PARTIALLY FUNCTIONAL. DO NOT USE IT YET.
Hey guys, this is the official thread for my Omate TrueSmart Root Tool. Using it, it will automatically (and with one click) root your device, install TWRP OpenRecovery 2.7, and install Lokifish Marz' EnSec Security Patch. It will also soon be able to backup and restore entire roms via images.
Version 1.0.0 only contains the Root and Reboot into Recovery functions, and recovery is not yet included. The next iteration, 1.2.1 (many iterations between the two already) is almost complete, and will include all of the above functions minus the return to stock buttons. Those will likely be their own app, due to the very large file size required.

Only if you installed EnSec. If you decided to shave the +150MB of bloat and installed Operative then you're all good.

I've just installed EnSec I believe. Operative is the ROM that's available, right? The only bloat I've shaved off myself are the apps I don't use using titanium backup.
EnSec and Operative are MODs. I don't have a ROM out.

Sorry, new to the TS scene. I'll look into the Operative mod, thanks.
Good news. The tool is about 90% complete. All functions are there except for the "return to rooted stock" function, and it'll be easy. The bad news? It's now a 639Mb download. -.-
Thinking about taking out the return to stock function. That's about... 600Mb of that.

Maybe make the return to stock function a seperate tool?
That's a good idea. I may do just that actually
Sent using XDA-funded carrier pigeons
EDIT: I should be able to get that done tomorrow, I hope. Working on some other things tonight, then I'll get back to working on this.
Ok, so scratch the last. Slimmed down version sans-"return to stock" button is here:
TrueSmart Root Tool Version 1.2.1
It's an alpha build and I have no idea if it'll work or not. I need someone to test that is courageous and knows how to restore their device if something goes wrong (with SPTools most likely). It's only around a 40Mb download this time, so if someone is brave, try to test out all the functions for me. Download a stock rom before testing though, just in case. As stated many times before, I don't have my watch yet and I'm flying blind here.

This is a really good idea-I had to do this yesterday and it was a pain in my A$$
I'll try to have it done tonight. The tools are all there, I just need to build it.

EDIT: Also, 2 downloads above so far. Any news on it yet? Does it work as it's supposed to?

Hi,
I am willing to test, however, any chance you could put up the version that would allow me to go back to stock?
I have the EnSec + Operative 20140318 loaded now and would really like to go back to stock before testing the patching part of your app.

Well, I'm not positive it will work. That would also need tested, but I'll work on building it right now. You should be able to use the SPTools before testing though, as you can always return to stock that way.
Also, can I get a sticky, since people are downloading this, and it will eventually be an integral tool? I'd appreciate it. Updated OP as well. Moving 1.2.1 to alpha release, but still no feedback from anyone.
Now added to [INFO] Everything sticky in the Root section.
Also ran 1.2.1 with the following errors "chmod is not recognized..." and rm is not recognized...". Just a heads up.

I noticed that the Gallery behaves weirdly when it encounters an empty album (from Picasa). It hides the empty albums but still occupy the space in the grid, sometimes it stops other albums from loading and makes it impossible to go into those albums.
All is ok after deleting the empty albums through Picasa Web Albums.

With all of the nightly's and RC1, it takes FOREVER for widgets to load and for SU to grant root permissions to many if not all apps.
Very nice to see this thread as I have been running nightlys for several days.
The latest seems to be the best (122010), very fast, great carrier signal reception. So far I haven't had any fc's. Not a single issue so far. Good job on this one.
Ditto on the SU permissions problem.
Other than that, great battery life, speed and oh my how I missed all of the Cyan goodies when I defected to try another Froyo build.
Thank you Cyanogen and all of the other devs involved in this project!
can i just do a thrid [dammit im 7th] poster thingy ... gonna give it a try !!
Oh, I only did a wipe when I first went from 5.8 to the alpha 1, after that I haven't had to do a wipe.
I am having trouble running Metamorph with this version of CM. It is saying that I either do not have a SDCard in the phone or that there is not enough space. This message appears right after Metamorph is opened. Tried wiping it and even verified that I have over 60mb of space on the phone (metamorph says it needs at least 20mb). Can anyone verify this error? I know there are those who have installed blackbar morph successfully so any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Netlocation has been a pain in my arse ever since Alpha 1, will post a log when I get back to my computer. It will only find my location over wifi, not network.

Anyway, I filed a bug report when I was still on RC-1 about the SU set on boot things, and I starred a report about exchange.
I'm not getting root access anymore, even when manually opening apps (10min after boot). Rebooting doesn't solve it. Are more people having this issue, if so is there a fix for at least getting manual root access after losing it?
EDIT: nvm, got it after 15min of waiting.

Technically you were third, you could start your own topic and be first poster, although I fail to see why this is entertaining.
Most of the nightlies seem to be pretty stable, I'm running the current one and all seems to be ok. Cross-flashing from MCR breaks things horribly but that's not all that surprising. There's still a fair bit to be added in by the looks of things but most of it seems to be pretty stable. Just make sure to keep a couple of generations of Nandroid backups as one of the builds a couple of nights ago broke a few things fairly badly and I had to revert.
Froyo with a little WD40 in the gears!
Presenting WD40M0D! This is my first rom, so I still need feedback. (feel free to let me know in this thread)

I think the only difference is the new gmail app.
Oh ok I'll look around, see what feels "new".
Has anyone flashed this yet? I'd love to hear what you guys think. Is anyone having wifi issues?
(updates with 720p and LeoParts should be live tomorrow or monday, as well as trackball wake)
FRF91 based on?
I love stock rom with root only and base mods, so your is good (except bootanimation.zip, i love default one).
It's a fresh build based on the latest AOSP source, so it should have all the FRF91 goodies.
Thanks for trying it out!
If you want a stock bootimage: adb remount, push this to /system/media, then reboot.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/sjxpzpi2hc9809x/bootanimation.zip
I just happen to love the color yellow
Update script fixed. Uploading now. Huge thanks to leonnib4 for gtalking with me at 5am Paris time!
ATTENTION! To fix SuperUser.apk, follow these instructions:
Download this: http://www.mediafire.com/file/9n9s33c81qgzabj/sh
Code:
adb remount
Code:
adb push /path/to/sh /system/bin
Code:
adb reboot
To test if it worked, type in terminal:
Code:
adb shell
I'll add this to my update.zip and upload after the weekend. Gone camping
is this as close to stock froyo rom?
also, do you think you can do one with nothing on it? just stock with all the necessaries and tweaks? and normal boot animation ?
It's pretty damn close
I think Geo411m's froyo is a better bet foor you, but it isn't aosp. It's basically the same tweaks as mine, but in a modified stock FRF91 package. Stock feel, good tweaks under the hood.
flashed yours, but i get problem connecting to wifi, keep saying obtaining IP.
Also, it won't save my APN

Geek For Me is proud to present:
Fresh Evo LTE 5.3.1
for your Sprint CDMA Evo 4g LTE!
Changes from 5.2.1 to 5.3.1:
Updated source to latest 2.13.651.1
This take it from Android 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 and updates it to Sense 4.1.
Re-applied all of the usual tweaks. See below for what those are and for thanks/credit. I’ll add in another special thanks to O.M.J
There are radio updates with this OTA. I recommend installing them. You can get those here. That is not my zip but I tested it and it works as expected.
NOTE: When you first boot this it will have the original button mappings and the “menu” bar will be at the bottom. Make sure you go in to settings > display gestures buttons > recent apps button > and set it to either the 2nd or 3rd one. this will remove the bar and make the recent apps button function as menu and as recent apps. needing to hack the system up to remap the buttons is no longer necessary after this update. you just have to make that change once after it boots.
Not every mod in this rom is outlined here if it was done in a previous version. Check the full change log here: http://link.geekfor.me/freshltechangelog

Why am I getting FC’s on gmail/market/voice search/whatever?
FC’s can be a common issue when /system/app contains an app that you already have on /data/app. So if you get a FC on gmail, the market, or something similar, then it can generally be fixed 99.99% of the time by either wiping that particular apps data (Settings < Manage Applications < All < YOUR APP < Clear Data), or going in and uninstalling it which will actually force it to use the one /system/app.
Or, of course, can be fixed 100% of the time by doing a full data wipe before installing! I have verified this rom as 100% FC free (at boot at least) so if you have issues, it’s your particular setup.
What version of Android is this, it says 5.x?
This is version 5.x of Fresh Rom. The Android version is always in my change log and unless it’s tagged as a dev rom, will always be the newest official OTA, or possibly a beta tag for a leaked OTA.
What is the difference between /sdcard and /sdcard2?
/sdcard is the internal storage on the phone which is about 10gb and /sdcard2 is your actual sdcard. If you copy the rom.zip to the internal storage then it flashes a whole lot faster. To do that you can copy it over from TWRP (by mounting internal storage) or with your phone booted up select “Media Sync” after plugging in the usb as opposed to “Disk drive.”
Why can’t I flash the radio/firmware images? I get an error or it just doesn’t work.
You MUST be s-off in order to flash them.
Why is the “menu” bar back? How do I get rid of it?
When you first boot this it will have the original button mappings and the “menu” bar will be at the bottom.

I always listen to the community as a whole and if enough people want something then I will generally add it to my rom. So feel free to ask. However if it's something that only a few people want then I request that you do it yourself and submit a mod/theme/patch for the others to use!

Install Notes: This update does not require a data wipe if you are on a stock-ish Sprint/Sense rom. If you are coming from another rom then a wipe may be required. Always perform a nandroid backup before flashing.
Donors: No change from the version you received.
I just want to use this spot to thank the community as a whole for the work they’ve done on this phone. Fresh Rom started with the Hero and through the Hero and the Evo it was “every man for himself” type of work. Starting with the Evo 3d and now especially with the Evo LTE, most people out there are sharing how they’ve done their work. This not only helps other people out (such as myself) but makes work much faster to modify new updates as they come out from Sprint/HTC. Thanks to the whole US customs BS and then wirefly taking forever, I got my phone about 2 weeks after a lot of people. This is also the first ICS-based rom I’ve done any work on. So I just wanted to give a sincere thank you to all the other developers out there.

I'm not sure if you saw this post but you want to leave linkify and just change the build prop.

In the stock build prop those lines are in 2 places so make sure to change the one at line 20.

I545 ALL-IN-ONE TOOL ROOT + RECOVERY INSTALLER
**READ READ READ AND READ AGAIN**
DO NOT RUN IF YOU ARE ON NEW ME7 OTA UPDATE!
This tool was created to simplify the rooting and recovery installation on this device. The rooting method used is the same method already posted in this development section. I just put all the resources into a tool and provided easy to follow instructions. The root process is not a one click. You must read instructions in tool window for each step of the rooting process. It is very straightforward and easy to follow, but you must follow the instructions exactly. Once rooting is complete all other steps are one click features including recovery installation.
Make sure you have latest samsung drivers installed. I recommend downloading Samsung Kies, It will automatically download latest drivers for you. Make sure unknown sources is checked and USB Debugging is enabled or the tool will not see your phone. Also make sure you do not have any pw or pattern lock screen enabled. As soon as you start step 1 check your phone screen. You will see a prompt to authorize your computer. Select ALWAYS ALLOW. This is the cause of the majority of errors. Also the usb cable that came with your s4 is recommended. If you are having issues with odin recognizing your phone check drivers and try using a different usb port. If using a desktop I recommend using the rear usb ports. Prep step (#2) removes install-recovery.sh and KNOXAgent.apk from your phone. These have been known to cause unwanted errors.
If when rebooting from recovery you are prompted with a message advising root may have been lost would you like recovery to fix it? I have always chosen NO and had no issues.
I do not offer support on either recovery or any rom you flash after this process. Check their respective threads for any and all information. Links to both recovery threads are included as options in tool.
I've included latest CWM (credit OUDHS & Shabbypenguin) and TWRP (credit Team Win). The rooting method and kernels used were provided by sextape. The step by step root process from open1your1eyes0. The motochopper exploit was created by the legendary djrbliss. Also a big thanks to djrbliss for Loki, without which none of this would be possible. Make sure to find these fine folks and give thanks, money, beer, your first born..... whatever you see fit.
I'd also like to thank niv3d, an21281, CraziiChief and all of my other testers. I'd also like to thank my wife and kids for leaving me alone while I worked on this. Mirrors are ok, just pm me the link to list in the OP.
Hope this makes someones life easier.... Have a nice day!!!!
Instructions:
Download zip file
Unzip on desktop
Connect phone with USB debugging enabled
Click RUN_ME (inside unzipped folder)
Pick option and go!!

I tested this utility a few hours ago and it works great! Just make sure to follow the directions and give it time to do every step, very easy!
Complete newb question here, and searching didn't turn up much.. Seeing as there is no Bootloader unlock yet, theoretically you should be able to just revert to stock and unroot and no one would know you were ever rooted/ROMd, right?
If I completely missed a post that explained this, sorry.. I searched and didn't see it.
Yep. Just Odin back to stock and you're done.

To unlock the Dev Options menu, go to Settings -> About Device and scroll down to the "Build Number." Now, tap on your "Build Number" five times, and you should see a toast notification pop up saying "Developer mode has been enabled." Back out of the About Device menu and you'll see Dev Options back where it belongs, so you can turn on USB Debugging and whatever else you want to.

It was a small thing in the top left corner of the screen, I could only see with the screen off. It looked like glue or a tiny hair under the glass. I was mostly just worried it was going to get worse over time. I didn't even notice it until I was putting a screen protector on (you know how impossible it is to get rid of all that dust). Free replacement through Verizon though because it's a defect.
Well....It's finally here folks! The long awaited ZV8-Lollipop!

See Post #2 for addons/additional files
See Post #3 for Install/Rom issues
See Post #4 for modems, rpm/tz partitions, and info. - as of 2-26-15, I would recommend NOT flashing the rpm,tz partitions. If you haven't then don't worry about it.
Anyone can use this as a base to build from. Just give credit.
Make sure you back up your EFS and current ROM first!!! - If you don't know how to backup EFS, look in the FAQ.
What is has:
Bone stock and rooted
Modem and Kernel are included - the Modem doesn't seem to be backwards compatible. It works, but shows as "Unknown"
Install instructions:
1. Flash this in TWRP - MAKE SURE YOU CLEAN FLASH THIS!
In TWRP, select Wipe>Advanced>then select cache, dalvic, data, and system. You can wipe internal and ext SD. BUT MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR FILES FIRST!! And don't wipe Ext SD with TWRP. Format it FAT32 on a computer.
2. Flash Rom
3. Profit!
After install:
Go to Settings>System Updates> and update profile/prl. You can also go to "Activate this device".
If you do not have Wifi Calling
You will need your MSL number and do the dialer reset. So in the Dialer ##786#. This will wipe your int SD!! And everthing else, so you will be starting fresh.
Bugs:
None that I know of.

Additional Files/Mods
I've combined mixer paths with a fixed build.prop. - Flashable - If you don't want both, then just remove it before flashing.
Mixer_paths are VERY LOUD!! - You have been warned!!
build.prop changes:
1. persist.splitwindow.support_all=false - true
2. ro.lge.qslide.max_window=2 - 8
3. dalvik.vm.heapsize=36m - 512
ZV8_Mixer_build
SD_Card_fix Flashable in TWRP - If this doesn't work, Some people are using an app from the Playstore to fix SD issues. SeLinux Changer, and set it to permissive.
EXTREME_ZV8_mixer paths - I AM MOST DEFINITLY NOT RESPOSIBLE IF YOU FLASH THIS ONE!!! Use at your own risk.
Install/Rom Issues Read This
Modems and rpm, tz partitions
Modems and rpm, tz partitions - FLASHABLE
If you guys need the modems for any of our Roms, Here they are.
Modems Folder This is the folder that has all the modems. Choose which one you want. It also has Apn's from the past.
The KK and L modems don't seem to be compatible.
RPM and TZ PartitionsTo be used with the corresponding modem above.
These are kind of up in the air, and for now are considered Beta. Although I have been using them with no issues.
History
After doing some reading in the International Forums, Cloudya recommends that we use these 2 partitions for a better Lollipop experience. I can't find the post now, and I have know idea what he meant. But I figured we could try it out.
Read here, near the bottom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57541255&postcount=428
Make sure you use the corresponding modem for these. - It SHOULD still work fine, but just be warned.
The ZV4/6 seem to work better for us
ZV8 rpm, tz partitions
ZV4/6 rpm, tz partitions
Hell yea!
Flashing now! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Thanks for putting this together. Can't wait for the deodex. Will the stock zv6 volume mods work with zv8?

The deodex might take a while. I looked at it briefly and it's quite different from past Android versions. But I will be making one shortly. Next project, actually.
I don't know about the volume mods yet either. I'd say for now don't use anything from KK. This thing is all new and very different.
Is there a way to get msl without calling sprint??
Great work, again, @engine95 is root baked in, or no root yet? Sorry, don't see it mentioned yet.
