this isnt really development related and should be posted in the android general section.
Do you have ABD setup? Or droid explorer?
If you have ADB setup, drop the browser.apk into your working tools folder then shift+right click on the tools folder, select open command prompt here and type the following (assuming your on windblows)
adb shell mount -o remount rw /system
adb push exactname.apk /system/app
adb shell reboot
Sorry for posting it to wrong section. I do not have ADB. I tried droid explorer but it did not work for my HD2.
what do you mean by it didnt work for you? Did it give an error?
I have windows 7 and I cannot install it. There seems to be some issue with droid explorer.
alright, I dont use droid explorer myself so not real sure..but all it does is gives you an interface for adb. Are you on windows 32 or 64 bit?
I am on Windows 64 bit. I got the old version working but When i connect my HD2 (in android), it does not recognize any devices. Thanks for helping.
Assuming your on windows 32 bit
go to this location
C:\Program Files\Droid Explorer\SDK
you should have a tools folder in the SDK folder?
If so, drop your apk into it and go back to the SDK directory. Then hold ****, and right click on the tools folder, open command prompt window here When it opens type in
adb devices
If that lists a number your good to go
type in
adb shell mount -o remount rw /system
adb push exactname.apk /system/app
adb shell reboot
EDIT : you posted as I was lol, Droid Explorer installs the same so the above commands should work.
Help!!
i been surfing the internet trying to find a way of how i can root my device. so far ive had on luck. i have tried gingerbreak but i don't think this has even worked. does anyone have any ideas of how you could root this particular device. if you have any suggestions or know how you can, i would be very grateful.
HOWTO - root PMP5080B
There is a way to root the tablet.
But it it does not root the runnning version, it roots the update image.
So if don't have the most actual firmware try this:
(maybe you can flash the firmware even it is not newer, but i don't know how)
Todo (Windows PC necessary):
At first load the latest firmware and unzip it:
h t t p : / / w w w .prestigio.com/info/product/downloads?NODE_ID=61101103718510974&ITEM=110706112617507776
Download the Wendal tool:
h t t p s :/ / docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B8h...RjZjFmODdiZTQ1
Then follow this steps:
1. Unzip the Wendal tool, you get a folder named "RK29xxImagetools_v2.1".
2. copy the update.img from Prestigio firmware download in the "RK29xxImagetools_v2.1" folder and rename the file to "wendal.img"
3. start "Runme.bat"
4. press "1", you get the message that you have to rename your file. Since you have already done this before proceed. The batch file starts, make sure you dont see any errors.
5. press "2" followed by "Enter". The rootet image will be created automatically
6. end the programm with "3"
7. in the "RK29xxImagetools_v2.1" you will find a file named "wendal-new.img", copy it to your SD card and rename it to "update.img".
8. put your SD card in your tablet, you will get a message to update your firmware
9. the tablet reboots, flashes the new firmware
10. be happy with your root access
Still having problems.
i have done what you said for me to do but when i rename the firmware to "wendal.img" and run it for some reason it keeps saying i haven't put the firmware in the folder when i have. do you know what how you can sort this out.
cheers
Did you unzip the firmware download?
Tried, tested & confirmed working
Just like to note that the software used will give you a warning about placing the update.img in the correct folder and renaming it even when it has already been done. You just have to press enter!
I have 5080B and i want to root it, but on ICS stock rom. Problem is, i cannot use wendal tools cause it can't add su and superuser.apk into /system ("no such directory") and even earlier i used to root gingerbread with these tools it is half-root - /system not rw, but superuser works
i saw update 2.0.2 from prestigio, pre-rooted, but i want to root this, newest version, 2.0.3
i have linux setup running and i tried mounting system.img but i can only add su, and nothing else cause there's no space...
also, how do i boot recovery from the device itself? i tried vol- and power key but there is an image of an 'destroyed' Android bot, no options there at all
Same problem - want root on Prestigio PMP 5080B
Just got a Prestigio PMP5080B running ICS 4 and want to root the tablet. I read from the preceding message that thhe method discussed here doesn't seem to work with it. Any ideas would be most welcomed here too.
By the way Hi!

The img file is for PMP5080B, so it won't help. Wrong thread, sorry
I have an AT&T Atrix 4G with system version 4.5.91 and android version 2.3.4. I am a Noob to the Android platform and researched this extensively on the web but I am still unsure about how to or if I need to Deodex my phone. I have rooted the phone using Petes Motorola Root Tools v1.05 (worked awesome) and downloaded several recommended apps for rooted phones. I want to use the modification to unlock the Webtop using the HDMI cable without the dock (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=980193). All web sites say the phone needs to be deodexed before performing this modification. Is my phone already deodexed? Do I need to deodex my Atrix? Is there an auto-deodexer program that will work for this phone? How do I back everything up before deodexing my phone (I use Titanium Backup app)? Any help would be greatly appreciated and sorry for being a Noob! I LOVE this Phone!!!! Might even have to get rid of the ole lady so I can spend more time with my Atrix 4G!!! LOL
Sorry I re-posted this here as well as in the Atrix forum to try to get some help. Thanks for understanding.
I have read this topic (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...=how+to+deodex) and because I am such a super noob with Android here is where I get confused:
I am assuming that when I first run xUltimate v2.2 my USB connenction should be set to none????? I do have USB Debugging and Unknown Sources enabled.
1. Unzip xUltimate v2.2, and launch "Main.exe"
2. If everything goes well xUlt should recognize the phone and make a connection. You now should see a list of options.
3. Run option 1. After option 1 is done, run option 2.
4. Now these well take a while. Run option 3.
5. IMPORTANT: After you have run option 3, you MUST navigate to the xUltimate folder and find "origi_frame" folder, and delete "guava.odex". It's a bad file, and interferes with deodexing process.
6. Now run option 4, and wait.
7. Exit xUltimate, and put the phone in USB mass storage.
8. Go back into the xUltimate folder and copy "done_frame", and "done_app", and move them to the root of the sdcard.
How do I access the root of sdcard and have the ability to copy them?
9. Put the phone in PC mode
I have never seen an option for PC Mode in my USB connection. Does this get installed in the previous steps or do I enable this in settings somewhere?
10. Open a command prompt, and do the following:
adb shell
su
stop
mount -o rw,remount /system/ /system/
cp /sdcard/done_app/* /system/app/
cp /sdcard/done_frame/* /system/framework/
rm /system/app/*.odex
rm /system/framework/*.odex
mount -o ro,remount /system/ /system/
reboot
Lol look you dont need to deodex jus do a search for nebtop download and install and it will emulate the webtop dock so it works via hdmi without a webtop and no mods needed.

I installed [ROM] [4.4.2] CyanogenMod 11.0 from here
everything runs fine, but i cant write files to the internal storage.
For instance if i start the gallery app it tells me "No internal storage available",another app tells me it "cant write to the cache folder" because the sd is full, mounted,or write locked.Root explorer sees all the files but cant delete, move or copy/paste anything.
Apps that save/download files like podkicker or reddit act normal when trying to save the file but after the download starts the notification disapears and the file is simply not downloaded.Apps that stream content work fine, like youtube,or the stream feature of podkicker.
I have over 2gb free space so its not that, and if i plug into my pc i can move and delete files no problem.I like the rom and like i said everything else seems to work fine.
Thanks in advanced for any help.

I'm having the same problem, with both CM11 and 10.2.0 on Verizon LG G2. Could it be a permissions problem?

Its weird because i can write to the root directory but not any folders in it.Root explorer and es file manager say that its read only but neither will let me switch to read/write.
I made a logcat from boot[at least i think i made it rite, never had to do one before]
But i cant post the link because i dont have 10 posts just add this rpqjxGhG to pastebin
This all also happens with external sdcards as well it turns out,i just tried to make a new file with the built in file manager on the external sd and it said it requires elevated permissions,
root explorer just says file creation failed.
I also get constant "unfortunately,Trebuchet has stopped" messages when doing any thing.
I have also tried terminal emulator for kicks.
I gave it su then tried
# mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock0 /system]
didnt change a thing
then i tried
adb remount
this said error: device not found
Im pretty sure its not my tablet as i can can go back to stock/stock root and write files perfectly fine, ive also re-downloaded the rom twice just to make sure it wasnt bad,and ive probably flashed it around 20 time by now all with the same result.
I hope someone can figure something out.

When installing the CM11 firmware, did your format/reset your "android+storage" in "format device" recovery menu?
Storage files should be /mnt/sdcard/ (internal storage) and /mnt/media_rw/sdcard1/ (extern sdcard).
I'm able to create files in both directories as well on the file explorer.
If you want to "unlock" the root ( / ) partition you have to use this one inside the shell:
Code:
mount -o remount,rw /
but this don't have some effects to the mounted storage files.

I was updating by putting the firmware file on the the device then rebooting and flashing the zimage and initramfs,
The reason being if i reset the "android+storage" dosnt that mean the firmware is deleted?
adb dose not see the tablet when its in recovery,it does see it when its on[am i doing something wrong there?],so i cant push the files, and if i export the data partition in windows a pop up and says it needs to be formatted before it can be used.so how am suppose to get the file to the device if i format everything?

I do not know what i am doing wrong but when i type adb shell ..all i get is BUSYBOX v1.7.2 (2012-10-19 CEST) built in shell (ash) Enter help for a list of built in commands ...
I did have ics blue v04 rom on my tablet that i was trying to go from to 4.4.2 ..
I did this before and had the write problem . any help you can give would be appreciated
Hello,
I have Lenovo S720 running on Android 4.0.4 that I recently factory reset because It has only few little internal storage (~1,4 GB), and cannot support many updating apps.
After I do that, whats left in the internal storage is about 500 MB of storage, the rest being taken up by the system (I suppose).
I installed Framaroot to root the device, then System App Uninstaller (ROOT) and ES File Explorer.
First, I try to uninstall any bloatware with the System App Uninstaller -> I didn't get much free internal storage.
Then, I use ES File Explorer to seek, which folder took up the most space.
-> One of the is /system/vendor folder.
-> So, I copied that folder to /mnt/sdcard/backupsys/ (or /sdcard/backupsys/ [little bit forget]), Thinking it would come in handy later.
-> Then, I (foolishly) proceed to delete the folder using the root privileges .
-> It took a moment until all of my app start crashing (including the ES File Explorer!).
-> I turned-off the device, and now it still stuck in the (what I think as) "bootloop" mode.
Fortunately I still can communicate to the phone using adb tools, which I have a little knowledge of. But, the pm and am command cannot function well.
Now, I'm only thinking about moving back the vendor folder from /mnt/sdcard to the /system folder.
But I encounter some problem:
1) I can't (& don't know how to) write to the /system
2) I can't (& don't know how to) read from the /sdcard
- command 'ls' inside this dir returned nothing.
Glad I have the "su" tools from the Framaroot. I searched on the Internet and it seems the problem can be solved with mount tools, but I don't know how.
ls -la tools on root (/) return:
(other dir)
root /system ,,,,,,,,,,other info,,,,,,,
system /sdcard ,,,,,,,,,,other info,,,,,,,
(other dir)
So maybe because I can't gain system account, I can't access the folder and read it...
I try to hard-reset in the recovery mode, but I can't select the options! (I can move the selector with volume up/down) but I cant click it with the power button!
The phone seems to be worse every second.
My main question is: can I recover my phone (copying the vendor folder back) using command tools on my development computer? Or is there any other ways?
I'm willing to install any custom ROM best suited to my phone.
Thanks in advance.
Hello,
Welcome to XDA.
If you have a copy of what you deleted or can get it from somewhere and you want to adb push your missing files and folders back to your device then you need to have the files you want to push stored on your PC and push them from there to the device. For instructions on how to use adb read through the thread linked below and go from there.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2141817
If you have further questions or need further help with using adb then you can post in the Q&A forum linked below:
