[Q] Tasker Music Controls - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm trying to create a profile that will wake my screen for a few seconds when I control music through my Bluetooth stereo. I've tried Tasker's built in music controls as the beginning of the profile along with Secure Settings to wake the device, but nothing happens. Any tips? I feel like this is really straightforward, but I'm missing something.

[HACK] CarDock Notfication/Media Volume

Hi.
This is my first try at a hack for android. Been readin java previously so i know the basics.
I think there are others that would enjoy this "hack" aswell.
So to the hack i want to make.
Remove notifications while in Car-Dock playing music.
Remove the 25% volume thingy for media volume.
These "features" are incredibly annoying.
If my N1 is in the car dock the media volume goes down to about 1/4.
My notifications go on top of the music. While my N1 is in the car dock im quite sure i would notice a incoming call / sms / email. So there is no actual need for a sound.
What i want to do is remove the lowered volume and all notification sounds when in car dock.
I already removed the car home screen becose its utterly useless.
But this didnt affect the volume as i thought.
If anyone wanna help out with this it would be greatly appriciated
You could use the app PhoneWeaver to fix both issues. It has a car dock trigger and you can turn off all the notification sounds. Also allows you to specify a level for the media volume.
I tried one of these previously.
It removed the sounds. BUT it still muted the music for the moment the notification was supposed to play.
So it didnt disable the notifications. Only muted them.
i would actually like to have mine lowered like you describe, it always seems to crank up the volume so much so that it distorts the sound when i dock it and it is then not adjustable through the settings or through audio manager pro.
I'll have to check out phoneweaver, i emailed audio manager pro and they said there was no plans to set up profiles automatically triggered by docking the phone...
the way i deal with this is i have two home screen shortcuts for audio manager pro that sets all audio and mutes notifications and another that sets it back to normal
holy crap...6.99 for the app, perhaps ill wait to try it out
Ill get to work on this project next week when i have some time.

Automation (Tasker, Llama, Locale, etc.)

Is anyone using automation apps to improve your tablet s experience? Please share any relevant tips you have.
I just used Tasker to fix something that's been annoying me about the tablet s. No matter what I set the volume to, the key click sound stayed pretty loud. I created a tasker profile to change the system volume whenever media volume changes. The buttons on the side control media volume. Now when I turn the volume up or down, the key click changes too. If anyone is interested, I can post the profile for download
Edit: Media volume goes up to 15. System volume goes to 7. To get the desired effect, system should be set to half of media
I did not know tasker works without root. Thanks

[Q] Media volume stays muted?!

It doesn't seem to matter what the volume is set to, my media volume (almost) always has a slash through it and doesn't play media sounds (games, music, etc). I'm not sure what causes it or how I can fix it. The phone seems to do it randomly.
It hasn't always been this way, it comes and goes. I've watched Netflix and heard the music to Tiny Tower which both use the Media volume. Restarting my phone has shown to help at times but so far it always comes back. I'm hoping a firmware update can fix it.
I have no audio apps for monitoring volumes and none of the Motion settings that would affect audio are turned on. I keep my phone on vibrate 24/7 but still wish to have the media volume work separately than the ringer volume. I have (self-taught) experience in rooting, applying mods, general android app development, as well as every day usage with the android OS and this has me incredibly annoyed that I can't figure this out.
How can I explicitly mute/unmute my media volume?
Stock, no root, Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III (SPH-L710) Android 4.0.4 Hardware version L710.14
Do you mute/ vibrate from notifications - I can imagine that will override the sound settings. Set ringtone to zero and media to desired level?
No, I only ever change the volume through the volume rocker when I'm in an app that uses the media volume. I also never change the volume of notifications, they're muted and set to vibrate. The only volume I ever use or change is the media volume.

[Q] App to Bind Ringer Volume and Notification Volume

For the life of me I don't know why Samsung continues to build this way, but it is what it is. I use to use Quick Settings on my other phone but now the linking option is greyed out. I tried another app that is called Volume Control, and it kinda works but seems to be overridden by the stock changes. Has anyone found a solution to this simple but really annoying 'feature'?
I've always felt you should be able to bind media volume as well - or at least make it jump to silent when you go to vibrate or silent mode.At least you can get to it quickly with the settings icon when you change volume. On my Incredible I always had to go through the system options to bring down media volume to prevent noise before starting something.
I dislike the volume binding, the ICS leak for thunderbolt was bound together and it was annoying. I like to have only my ringer and alarm on when I sleep, I don't want to be annoyed with emails or texts. I always used Audio Manager Pro which you can create custom profiles and schedule those profiles.

[Q] Audio Book Player controls

Hi
I inherited a Samsung Galaxy 4 player from my daughter. I want to use it primarily for listening to audio books and have installed smart audio player for this purpose.
Earlier I was using an old Windows Phone. On that device if I turn off the display or it turns off after the specified interval, when I turn it back on the audio player controls (play/pause control primarily) are visible on top of the screen saver making it easy to pause or resume.
With the android device however, this is not the case. If the display goes off when I turn it back on (using the button on the top right side of the device) I am presented with a screen saver and an instruction to sweep glass to unlock. There are no audio player controls visible.
Is there anyway to bypass that initial screen, i.e. not have it display at all? Since more often than not I would have been in the audio player app before the display turned off, at least I have direct access to the controls.
Let me know if my request makes sense or you need additional information.
Thanks
