Geez, that's a tough one. An app like that definitely shouldn't cause any issues like this. But if there is no recognition of being plugged in to the PC, there isn't much you can do yourself. It's rare that recovery and Download mode show up but don't attempt to load drivers. So in Device Manager, there isn't even an exclamation mark or anything? Another option, if you have access to one (or you can make a Live CD) is to try and use the program called Heimdall (like the Linux version of Odin) on Ubuntu or a similar Linux distro.
If you've exhausted all other options and there just isn't any sign of activity, then you might need what is called a JTAG service. Basically a special cable is soldered to a point on the motherboard circumventing the USB port and this will allow a special manual reload of the software and kind of shock the system back on track. Highly recommended by myself and tons of other XDA members: http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/

Thank you soo much for your help i have been searching and searching on what to do, so i took your advice and went to the site but i dont see the jtag for my smt311 will i be able to use the samsung galaxy tab jtag for my device as well i dont know which one will be support by my device as it have not been listed thanks for your time again God bless

I'm not entirely sure about the model. Probably best to just send them a message and see if they support your device. If they don't, then your only other option would be to attempt to use Heimdall in Linux.

[Q] Galaxy SII almost bricked please help.

I have a problem with Galaxy s2. Basically it started to drain my battery like hell.
It gets empty in about 10 hours.
Now when I want to flash the phone once again in order to get everything back as it was when I bought it I cannot. This is due to MTP connection activating itself as soon as I turn on the phone. And I cannot enable usb debugging due to that as it says that I have to remove the USB cable.
In addition my phone charges itself really fast about 2 hours. And when I try to power it on without charger plugged in it gives me charging image and yellow triangle with ! in it and thermometer aside flickering. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix my phone?
Have you tried using CWM to wipe all data + clear all cache, then do a fresh re-install?
Yes I tried it now. It still says my USB is connected when its not. And now it doesnt unlock my sim card.
Factory reset that dont work return phone to a service centre ..

Well thats the case I have voided warranty already. Wondering if there are any chances I could put old rom back before returning it?
Make a DIY USB JIG then flash it back to stock rom and have it checked.

Not sure what do you mean by DIY USB JIG but I cannot flash it because I cannot switch USB debugging on... Thats the case it shows me that USB is always connected when it isnt and when USB is connected it doesnt let to switch on USB debugging.
Route is source stock rom and Odin load stock rom into Odin enter download mode on phone and then connect cable and flash rom .
No download mode

Thank you all who have replied. I have now managed to get over the USB issue somehow but still something is wrong either with battery sensor or battery. When I power off my phone it switches on automatically and shows the thermometer and battery charge icon. Anyone else have had this problem? It also charges up to 95% and it bursts to 100% very quickly.
EDIT: Now I tried my friends battery and I did not get the flickering temp error and my friend didnt get it with my battery as well. So something now I'm totally out of ideas.
Service centre .

I am having the same issues here, wonder if the topic creator resolved this in any way? I am thinking of getting a new battery?
Just FYI wear a condom or something on your galaxy S II. As it turns out from service my phone supposedly has liquid damage which does not the warranty apply. I have to pay 240 euros in order to get it fixed :S
Hey Guys.
I had an S1 7 months prior to buying the S2, and have upgraded/fresh installed ROMS many many times over the past year. Once the S1 bricked during an upgrade and I was able to get it into Download Mode without using a micro-USB jig from instructions on this website. If my memory serves me correctly, it was a procedure something fairly simple like hold the Home, Volume Up and Power buttons continuously until the phone goes into forced Download Mode.
However, this procedure doesn't work with the S2 or I'm remembering it incorrectly, and I'm unable to find that instruction webpage again. Now my S2 is almost bricked showing a message I've not seen before, "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
So far, I cannot get past this message and Kies 2.0.2.11071_128 doesn't recognize the device nor that emergency recovery is needed.
Unfortunately Samsung programmers haven't been quite smart enough or forward thinking enough to make Kies work from behind a proxy which requires authentication (I live and work on a university campus and the only way to the internet is via proxy and authentication) and it has never shown in the past 9 months of usage that it needs to update itself nor finds any official ROM releases. Therefore I've been forced to use Odin and ROMs from here or samfirmware.com for my updates. Until now, there has never been any major problems that I couldn't get around.
Do any of you have instructions on how I can get my S2 into download mode so as to get Odin to recognize the device? It is not possible for me to make my own JIG here in Thailand as there is nowhere for me to go purchase electronic equipment and parts such as soldering irons and resistors. I am a computer engineer and could easily build such if it were possible to get needed parts.
Thanks hugely in advance for any help offered.
Just order a high from ebay

Well kiss my rosy red butt-cheeks! Speaking from personal experience as tech support, I know empirically to replicate something 52 times prior to asking for assistance. This instance shouldn't have been an exception!
Directly after posting this request for assistance, I decided to try Odin once again and DANGED if this time it found my device even with the "Firmware encountered" error showing. Odin stopped around 90% and forced me to reset my S2, but this time it went right into Download mode with nary a fuss. Now Odin just successfully installed KG6.
So if there is anything to be learned from this experience, either by other users with similar issues or myself, it is "if at 1st you don't succeed, try again and again and again and again."

Bricked i5500 after installing Rom Manager

Hey guys. So, I bricked my phone. I installed RomManager, then ClockworkMode through it, thus I knew that this phone is not supported. It wasn't there in that list, so I chose Commtiva z71 or something like that. My phone doesn't get in download mode anymore. Could this be fixed at home? I really don't want to take it to a service centre.
Please help me. Thanks!
There's a few people who have done this and I don't think any of them have been able to find a way to get it working again. I think you will have to send it to repairs, sorry

did you tried to download ClockWorkmodRecovery(cwm) than flash with odin multi downloader and then wipe data?
first step i found in solving this issue
i also flashed the same recovery through rom manager. i think i have found the first step in solving this issue. all now is that i need help of all of you guys.
All I did was removed my battery while still being connected to usb . After this i kept holding the option button (the button on the upper leftmost side) and with this being hold i inserted the battery. Now my pc recognised the device as samsung usb composite device and also the odin recognises it. but whatever i try my phone stucks at setup connection in odin. pls help.

no need to pull battery out and insert it back just insert the battery ,hold down the option key & insert usb cable thats it....but none of these gonna work you will need JTag to flash
You can even try JIG. Because, you've messed with recovery and boot partition but not the arm11boot (bml8). So, JIG (search Google, it is as cheap as $2 and you can even make one at home) can help you.
If it didn't, just search for JTAG services nearby your area. They'll charge you $20-$40 and your g5'll be alive.

That's not true, sadly. ROM Manager embeds a version of flash_image that will try to flash a boot image to bml8 if the device is not properly recognised. That's what happened for the OP, so a JIG will not resurrect the phone.
Oh...Sorry, I didn't knew that! So, final option left for OP is a JTAG flash.

[Q] Galaxy 5 brick problem

Ok, so like I was flashing my phone to Cyanogen mod 9 (using CWM port 0.6) and it went wrong. My phone is now bricked. When I try to boot it up now I get the phone to computer warning thingy message
I can get it into download mode and emergency download mode, but Odin either comes up with "FAIL."
I have tried every single thing on the web, NOTHING works (One click unbrick etc, etc, etc). Please help!
One thing that might help is One Click Unbrick, even after i've installed all of the software, reinstalled the drivers, won't recognise my phone!
Is there anything left that I could try???
P.S. On all the other similar threads, the things they suggest don't work

One click unbrick wont work on the galaxy 5 (i think ) and the best way to unbrick your phone is to use a JTAG or simply give it to samsung for repairs... Trying something which is not supported may worsen the situation ..

Not sure if I hard bricked my Note 2, what can I do now?

I'll start out that I'm new to android, been an avid blackberry user that just purchased my note 2. I followed the casual root application, and unlocked and rooted my device. I went to install cm 10.2 mod on my device after wiping the device in development mode then proceeded to install from sdcard and it failed. Now my device will not respond to either download mode or development mode or power on in any way (including using a charger and removing and replacing the battery). I'm kind of stuck and not sure how to approach the correct solution to get my device back up and running. I did make sure that the cm mod I downloaded was for my specific device. Is it possible that maybe the root/unlock method failed and thats where I went wrong when installing the cm mod? I also get no response when the device is plugged into my pc. So its not being read by odin currrently.
Since it appears I have hard bricked my device, not quite sure what steps I can do to recover. I get no power to the device in any situation, I've read online about jtag, if anyone could point me in a direction it would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
Sorry forgot to mention this was a verizon branded note 2

connecting to pc does your note responds or pc shoes something
remove your battery connect to pc and go to download mode by pressing the button combo if odin shows a port
and you are connected then you are saved if not I guess its tym for service center
anyways try
P.S be sure that you have latest drivers installed on pc and use the original usb cable for conecting

Thanks for the reply sangalaxy, like I mentioned the phone does not respond at all for download mode, not recognized by Odin or showing any power when connected to a charger. Hence why I was thinking its hard bricked.
I'm not sure if I can send it to samsung, since I bought the phone off craigslist.

yea sometimes it will not recognize anything and will not show on screen but will work silently
did you tried connecting it to pc without battery as I said and go to download mode by pressing buttons may be odin will recognize
if not you don't have any choice but go to samsung
Your right I didn't fully read your post to try those instructions, unfortunately it didn't work but thank you for the help. It is definitely appreciated. I think I have found someone off eBay with a good reputation for jtagging android devices that might be a solution.

Re-Installing Android on a Samsung Tablet - Go easy on me!

Hi
this is my first post here, so please go easy on me. I am an electronics engineer by trade but pretty old school stuff, although I am familiar with flashing microprocessor based systems. I'm not a complete fool.
I have a problem recovering a Tab 4 SM-T230. It is stuck on the initial page showing "Samsung Tab 4".
Only way to power down is removing the back and disconnecting the battery.
From there I can enter recovery mode but Master Reset doesn't cure it.
So I have Odin 3 installed and have the correct BL, AP, CP and CSC files ready to upload.
In device manager it is showing the tablet is connected and the drivers are okay.
The problem is, there is nothing showing in the ID:COM tabs in ODIN.
I've re-installed the drivers, unplugged/plugged, still can't get it to connect.
Any Suggestions? Am I going about this completely the wrong way?
I know it would probably make sense to just buy another tablet, but this one fits a modified holder used in a specific application, so replacing the tablet suddenly creates an engineering issue as well!
Many thanks in advance
Kevin

Try a different PC.
What version of Odin are you using? You need to use a version that was released around the same time the tablet was new to the market. Your tablet is from 2014 so you need to use Odin 3.09 or Odin 3.10.
