I have been running Galaxy Nexus 4.2.2 with Googles Apps API17 under Genymotion, and so far most apps run without problem. Recently I decided to try Android 4.3 and 4.4 OS, so I started a couple of Genymotion devices, followed the guide on installing ARMS translation and Google Apps, and installed those. So far it looks like the installation worked, but whatever apps I tried to install, I get this error "Your device isn't compatible with this version". So far I have not been able to get any of the apps I was running on 4.2.2 to install on 4.3 or 4.4 device. Does anybody have this problem with Genymotion devices, and happen to have a solution for it?

So I acqired an Acer Iconia A500 tablet, and I kinda want to restore the OS on it.
You see, the OS ended up being a demo version of Android 3.0.1, somehow without Andriod Market/ Google Play store.
Does anyone have any ideas? Do I need to root (please no GingerBreak, I already tried and failed)
I'm posting because the last time I tried to "fix" a tablet I bricked a Kindle Fire
So, what I would like to accomplish:
1) replace the OS with a new version of 3.0.1, or 3.1, or 3.2
or
2)replace the OS with a newer version of Andriod (4.4, 4.3, even 4.2)
but most importantly,
3) get the tab to have Google Play Store so I can download other apps.
I'm very much a noob when it comes to dev for this kind of thing.
And I need help, because I don't want to brick this one like I bricked my Kindle Fire (which also ended up being a demo device).
Thanks in advance!

I had my Kindle Fire HDX 7" rooted with towelroot, full google play store etc. Then Play store updated a little while ago and google stopped working. I decided to try to revert to stock fire os, so I did a full factory reset. I have since tried to update the Fire os from 13.3.2.6 to the latest - 13.4.5.3 but I get a parse error every time. I have downloaded the update both direct over wifi and also to my PC and then through USB - no difference. I suspect some remnants of the rooting process may be at fault, but I don't know where to look. The root folder is empty. Any help would be welcome, thanks.
Hey people,
I have a big problem and I am a big noob what contains to software, hardware is my thing.
Lets get straight to the point......
I have rooted my device(Kingzone K2) with Kingroot on Android lolipop 5.1.
the first time i tried to root it would not work because my phone had a unknown version of android or something like that, so i reported that to kingroot and a month later they made it possible to root on my device.
now I have rooted my device but I started up my phone and all of a sudden my phone was reset to factory setting.
I thought it would have been a accident with android devicemanager.
And up following I wanted to download apps and stuff but it gave me the error that Android.procces.media was stopped.
And the apps wont download I tried everything to download them, also camera and gallery wont work for the same reason.
So can someone please help me with this problem.......
Thanks.
The 5.0.1 Android unrooted tablet was sent to a service lab, where it came back from having its motherboard replaced, when for some reason its OS was downgraded to Android 4.4.4. Since then some apps do not work, such as TV apps (that worked fine before) - the tab cannot play movies and shows on those apps, although those apps are supposed to work on Android 4.3 and so on. Moreover, since then I cannot update my OS, tab saying that I have the latest version (which is obviously not true) and when going to the Tool Kit saying that "An error has encountered when installing the recommended incremental update pack". Factory Data Reset did not do anything. According to the Root Checker, the device was not rooted, although it seems to me that the lab has messed with my OS. What do you think? The lab says though that my OS is "beyond their control" and that they could not have touched it, just replaced the motherboard with an original one, suggesting me "just to wait" for the update to come out, which I am sure will never happen. Any suggestions how to solve this? Do you think that the lab has messed with my OS or what do you think happened here? Thanks a lot, guys!
Can anyone answer that?
Can anyone answer that please?
Hello, i have a problem with samsung alpha on 4.4.4. kitkat. When i try to use google maps, if i click on directions and select car, application will crash. If i select bus, it will sometimes crash. If i select walking, it will never crash and normaly show path. If i upgrade application, it doesnt crash but instead locks up and heats the mobile phone a lot.
What i tried so far:
1) gps on/off, tried using only wifi/mobile data
2) tried all 4 versions of 4.4.4 for my country, first and latest update
3) it works fine on 5.0.2, though i want to remain on 4.4.4
4) tried resetting gps
5) tried rooting phone, uninstalling app completely and reinstalling it, doesnt help
6) tried like a 100 different stock roms from different countries and couldnt get a single 1 to work, they all fail or go into infinite boot loop
Please help me with my problem. I really like this phone and would hate it to leave a bad taste because if this 1 problem. Btw, the only roms that work for my phone are on the link below. I tried other links from my country (branded ones, not opened ones) and nothing works. I want to remain on stock rom btw.

Google maps does the same for me. It hangs when I click on 'directions'. I have a Samsung Galaxy ACE4 SM-G357FZ with Android 4.4.4. It started happening to me a few months ago. I thought it was because my phone has only 1GB RAM, and I removed or disabled every app that I don't use regularly, but it didn't help. I switched to Sygic GPS. It is better than google for walking, and it works OK for driving, but I miss not having the bus and subway schedules on google maps. I don't have the option of updating to 5. As far as I know, the last update was a Jan 2017 security update of 4.4.4. I have a Nexus 7 tablet. Updating it from Android 4.4 to 5 made it so slow it is useless.
" though i want to remain on 4.4.4"
why?
Try the workaround posted 7/6/19 here: support.google.com/maps/thread/9075511
Or reverting to previous version of the app posted 2/17/20 here: support.google.com/maps/thread/3592231
