[Q] root and recovery question - AT&T HTC One (M8)

My phone is a day and I'm looking to root. I didn't notice a root method in the dev section...maybe I missed it. I did find this in the general section. Is this what we are using for root?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2705418
Also, could someone link me the correct recovery. I'm not lazy, I do look...just want to make sure I grab the right stuff. Thanks

That is the correct link. Easiest way is to use hansoon's tool. Follow the steps to unlock bootloader, root file and recovery are included in the tool. Just make sure to research what you are doing BEFORE you start, and read ALL directions. Happy flashing!

So i am doing the process of rooting again and when i open revolutionary exe and its asks for the generated key. I go to the website and generate one I put it in and its coming back as invalid. Is there anyway to fix this? Please help.

You're probably mistaking an 0 for an o, or a 1 for an I or something. I suggest copying and pasting.

I've tried that nothings happening.

What do you mean nothing happens? It won't paste, or still won't work after you paste?

If youre already s-off you dont need the tool anymore. Just flash the root zip if using stock rom and flash a recovery...

Why can I find the root zip?
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
Just flash a recovery and then flash the su zip from recovery. You can easily find it in the developers section.
Here is the recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192077
Here is the SU: http://goo-inside.me/superuser/su-2....fgh-signed.zip

Installing the recovery and Su apk doesn't root my phone. I need the exploit I think.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
The exploit just gives you s-off. If the recovery installed and the su zip installed then you are good to go. You may want to try flashing the engineering hboot in the developers section.

Updating firmware: how would I go about it?

I'm running the latest CM10.1 and was wondering how exactly I could update my firmware to 3.16 with the new touch panel version (which I hear is much better and more precise) how would I update it? Would I lose root and have to reroot? Would it wipe my ROM?

Look here:

You do not need to unroot your phone, and you will not wipe any data from your phone. You must be S-off to update firmware, however.

Just to be sure, I would just download the whole zip, rename and flash? I was thinking I would have to delete the recovery file it gives for the stock version them flash?

Download the file you wish to flash. Rename it PJ75IMG.zip (make sure you don't have an extra .zip extension on the end or it will fail). Put the file on the root of your external SD card. Reboot to the bootloader. If the bootloader doesn't look for the file automatically, select the option to reboot bootloader. Follow the on-screen prompts to update, then reboot once you're done

[Q] Help needed to ROOT 6435LVW

Hello,
Sorry to start this thread because I have read many but can't find the actual help to ROOT this device Verizon HTC6435LVW.
When I go into bootloader I see this (Image: Bootloader)
and when I try to install recovery got this;
(Image: recovery error)
Can someone tell me where to unlock my bootloader or how to root this device.
Thanks in advance.

Before you can send a recovery you need to unlock the bootloader and achieve soff. Like mentioned above the website linked is a one click program that will unlock and turn the device soff. From there you can flash a custom recovery and then flash the newest su zip found on the su website and you will achieve root.

Make sure to use the DNA specific one or it won't work. Let me know if you run into any issues and I can help you out. But it's pretty self explanatory. Follow the directions and profit. Good luck.

[Q] kindle fire hdx root

hello im new in here.. I buy today the kindle fire hdx 7 from a radioshack store that was closing in 80 bucks i want to root it and istall a android rom because i dont like the amazon one ..but this tablet is old and come with this version 13.3.0.2 and have an update ready to 13.3.2.5 im scare to update but i cant find anything to root my version any help ?
Try to remove the update before it installs by erasing and registering the kindle. Then, read the twrp thread and other threads in the dev section.

Usually. You can roll back if you need, but not if it updates much further.

Here you go. Start here. You will probably need to roll back first. All of this is risky. I suggest reading a lot before doing anything rash. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2986004

You are still okay, but either turn off WiFi or disable updates now. Use towelroot and the HDX toolkit to do so. If you leave it on WiFi much longer, you will not be able to replace the native is with an alternative build.

i root the hdx and have SuperSU install and disable the ota from the toolkit .. but when I try to use safetrap does not work what could it be I still in the same version
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Free mobile app
I am not sure. I know little about safestrap. But, be careful. I do know people who have bricked devices troubleshooting safestrap. You can still use an alternate recovery, and I recommend that highly
