Hi,
I've just installed the WP8.1 Developers preview and would like to know if it's possible to turn off 'Live Tiles', specifically the contacts tile, but any other tile as well, (or all tiles).

basically, not possible... only if application have settings for own tile...
It's possible if you remove all live titles. And there won't be a 1st page.only app list.

Okay do this
1. Open app drawer and slide or touch to widgets and scroll down to the Yahoo! News widgets.
2.Once you place the Yahoo widget on your home screen click on any news article within the widget.
3.Once you do you'll get a selection of news on the top you'll notice an light sliver color status with the settings and refresh.
4. click on settings and select the country settings to the country you live in.

I'm sorry at the moment there isn't a fix the only closest thing you can select is the Brasil (Portugues) i'm sure your already aware of that. But if you like the ticker animation you can try using this app called NewsFlash!

You get the same animation ticker like in a widget with news feed support on your home screen.
I have a Samsung I9305, with I9305NEEBMA1 4.1.2 firmware installed. I wanted to activate facebook lock ticker but it doesn't have that option in lock tickers, only "News" and "Stock". Any solution to this? Which 4.1.2 original firmware has this option, and would work in Portugal? Tried Facebook reinstal, same result...

Any idea how to change the icons/Tiles of apps? There are some apps which don't adapt the design color for their icons, so i'm searching for a solution for this "problem".
unfortunately i dont think you can dude!!!
There is no solution to this problem. Part of it is that especially if the App has a live tile it constantly creates new Image files that are set as the foreground of the tile. Some Apps use a transparent Icon background which lets the tile color shine through but others don't. With full unlocked WP7 devices it was possible to overwrite the default icon but quite often that also broke the live functionality.
So all in all the previous answer is accurate and there are reasons why that is not going to change anytime soon.

wp 7 themes is the app ur looking for. its just a beginning, however in circa 1 month will be some huge update, pro version will be released and i dont think it cost us much

author of app make tiles icon in that way and you cant change it...

I have installed Tile Launcher on my TF300T, and i'm looking for Windows 8 Tiles in HD (500x500 would be great).
I have found some thread about windows tiles, but all tiles are too small for Tile Launcher.
Can you help me to find them ?

When you create a new tile, you can set an icon, but this icon is just a little square inside the tile
You can also set a brackground image, this image will completly fill the tile.

One more thing : is there any solution to remove icon in order to keep only background image ?

Yes, hold the icon, click edit tile, tap icon, tap no icon.
As the title says, there's any app/widget that allows to display a live tile of images from gallery (or any other path) like the one found in launcher8?

Well, I am looking for the same thing this past few weeks because Im totally craving the sliding live tile animation on a desktop. And Im glad Im not the only one
I searched for live tile widgets and the only thing I found (which was not even like a live tile) is the Animated Photo Frame Widget. This however is only a slide show widget. But because I cant find anything else, I used the free version of this.
haaay.. I hope that someone would just create a live tile app or widget that is exactly like a Windows Phone live tile

For NFC specifically, I tried to add NFC tile with 'nfc' ... however, does not work !
I'm sure this worked on Android 11 but does not seem to work on Android 12.
