I've received a message for a software update. When I attempt to install it using the <About Device_Software Update>, I get a pop-up saying my device has an unauthorized update installed. Use Samsung Kies to install new update.
Anyone else getting this error?
I'm rooted using CF

Can we use Kies to install the update with Root or do we have to flash back to Stock first?

It's not an error. Rooted devices don't get OTA's

You can use Kies to flash, or download the .tar file and flash via Odin...that way you don't lose your app data.
Once you flash the new update via Odin, just re-root using CF-Auto-Root

Where can I get the .tar for the new update?
Sent from my SM-G900T using xda app-developers app
If you have G900TUVU1ANCH that is the newest available version.
I don't think everyone got this update from G900TUVU1ANCD right away.
Probably just a delayed update to that.
That one should be available through samfirmware.com
Ya I am on that version but I got a ota notice last night but couldn't take it because I am rooted

That's strange
I'm not rooted and says I'm up to date when I check.
Not sure what that would be then. Either that or a glitch in the matrix.
Mine says it's been modified in an unauthorized way, even though it's practically bone stock. The only thing I can think of is I have developers menu unlocked. Any ideas?

I'm not rooted, but I did turn on ART. I changed back to original, still custom status Turned off Dev Mode (even though the application is still there) and still no luck. Restarted multiple times.
What is ART? If I may ask

Hello, is there a root method where it doesn't interfere with the bootloader, so you still get official update, but you can run root apps.

Rooting will not prevent at OTA update. This has been addressed, many times.

how can I check and verify current ROM version on the phone? What is the stock ROM shipped with the phone. Is there a name for it? I've rooted my phone by using ROM Manager app. What I don't understand is under ROM Manager/Check For ROM updates tab, it says "Your ROM is not set up to receive OTA Updates. Please contact the ROM developer!
I'll jump the bridge if i didn't get the Froyo when it's available OTA. Please Help. Thanks.

I just bought a used S4 and as expected the seller reset it to factory settings. Now, when I checked for updates, there was a system update that I downloaded. However, my phone cannot install the update. It reboots and starts the update. I see the android logo but then it says error and the phone reboots. I then get a message that says the update was unsuccessful. I am coming from the rebound and don't know what issue the S4 has.

You can download the stock firmware and flash it with ODIN. That would likely fix the problem. Just make sure you use the same baseband version that you're currently on.

If your deadset on installing the newest update you can try odin. It doesnt have to be the same firmware tho. You can upgrade from mdk to me7, you cant go back tho because of it being blocked. Be warned tho me7 only has root capabilites. No custom recovery. Theres a thread in the devopment section with the me7 files posted and theres a guide in the same thread on how to do it as well.

Same issue with update, only I lose data
I used Odin to go back to stock MDK, then when I take the update from Verizon, it fails as OP states and I lose data. No 3G or LTE. Have to erase everything in the Odin back to MDK stock to get it back. Any suggestions? Not in too much of a hurry, but concerned that I'll never be able to get to the new radio and firmware.
Update: I lose data when I set up Wi-Fi the first time after restoring. Had data when phone first booted in setup mode, then after setting up Wi-Fi, goes away. Must have some mucked setting somewhere.
I tried to check for an update on custom ROM and got the ur device is modded and can't get updates. As expected but I also get the same message when I restore to stock rooted. Will I need to unroot to receive the update. Never had a problem accepting an update b4. Lost root of course but that's it. Anybody wanna chime in? Thanx in advance.

You can get OTA updates when your phone reports back, in Odin mode, with "Official" for both Samsung and Status
in short you will need to revert to stock ROM and recovery and wipe it 2-3 times like @FLBoy1991 said

And once rooted, it won't download. I even tried unrooting and that didn't work. Wifi calling will be key for me, so I may have to install the official download and go without root.

The prior update activated all the LTE radios in the Mega (3 I think). This update may have tweaked that code for performance and/or connectivity.
Has anyone noticed LTE data connection errors with NA7? I am going to try and flash back to MK1 because i have had no LTE data after upgrading to NA7 ... ive flashed NA7 3 times now and done several ##RTN#s still no luck
keep getting the error "unable to establish mobile data connection ESM - x EMM - 15"
I got LTE with 2 bars in my area when I didn't have it before the update. Doesn't work with kingo root either. Continues to say "NeedRoot". Hell, the phone seems slower too.

use the update guide (found here) and install it with ss. if not you will loose root and there is no known 4.4.2 root method for the gs4. if you dont care about root flash the mk2 odin file (found here) and take the update.
Thank you so much
