Try Google Voice + Groove IP... Works brilliantly over wifi on my wifi tab.
BTW- Please refrain from posting non-development threads in the development section. This belongs in Q&A.
Google Talk with Video is working well.

I really like my android as is, I am able to do most things I was not able to do on my G1 with out even rooting, such as the multitouch and what not.
I am getting a Toshiba Thrive tablet in the mail in the next week or so, and I know my evo 3d is capable of being a WiFi hotspot, so that technically I can connect my tablet to my phone and share its internet connect. What exactly do I have to do to get this working? I am familiar with rooting, (Rooted my G1), but is that a particular ROM or something that I need to use to get this working?
Thanks,
MostHated (M374llic4)
Wrong section for 1 and most of the sense roms have the hotspot unlocked. Or you can root and use a tether app.
Im yet to find a rom in here for the 3d that doesnt have hotspot unlocked or a preloaded hotspot app that works. Just a FYI, your thread will be moved and you may get a not so kind repley from a mod about posting this in a dev section.
Check out the fresh rom its very stock not mutch changed and it has hotspot unlocked
Use stock deodexed rom and flash beats with hotspot very good but if u want 4g hotspot use wifi tether.
What ROM's come with a WiFi Hotspot / Tether APP:
MIUI comes preloaded with Hotspot/Tethering located in the Settings under System.
I believe releases of WARM ROM come with a tether/hotspot app as well.
Other ways to tether your internet connection
Aside from a ROM that has a WiFi tethering application built in, there are other ways to give your tablet an internet connection.
If you do not want to flash any ROMs or do anything that tedious, then you can download:
Barnacle WiFi Tether https://market.android.com/details?id=net.szym.barnacle&feature=search_result
Wireless Tether for Root Users https://market.android.com/details?id=android.tether&feature=search_result
WiFi Tethering https://market.android.com/details?id=og.android.tether&feature=search_result
Any of those above applications should work with any root, temp or perm. So as long you have Superuser installed and allow them to access it.
If you need additional help, feel free to message me for a more in depth explanation.
Cheers,
StrumerJohn
P.S. Post in the right section next time so you don't get flamed
Woah, people being nice in a thread posted in the wrong section? Am I in bizarro world?

I don't know why people believe there is such a rule when no such written rule exists here, unlike at PPCGeeks, they actually have a written rule stating no question threads are allowed to be posted in the dev section. people need to relax and be more helpful and stop trying to be the posting Nazis, although everyone in this threads response was nice.
I do apologize that my post was in the wrong place, I assumed with it being e development board and all that the question was somewhat relevant to it.
I was wondering if there's a way to make google market think that I have an android 2.3 device. The reason I am asking thisis because google market blocks a ton of neat appear from my book tablet. I am guessing that google market sees my device as an android 1.4 device.
First, this is development, not general or Q&A. Second, the market does recognize it as 2.3 - that is not why some apps are missing. I recommend you go to the Apps section and find the thread about modifying your build.prop if you really want more apps to show up in the Market. I just side-load anything I cannot get directly. Either way, there are going to be apps that will just not run because of the way B&N has modified Android.

It contains no development, so has no place in the development section. Please refer to the read before posting for guidelines.
I've been asked to do a set on Instagram live this Saturday.
At first I thought I could find some RTMP work around, but unfortunately anything of that ilk doesn't support sharing the screen in the broadcast, and the presenter wants to do an intro/outro and put it on their page, so I need that.
I can't therefore use outboard gear/Logic to make it sound decent, which is OK if you're just talking but for playing music it's a bit poor. I might have to just accept that, but before I do the question is...
Is there any way to add reverb/eq/compression to the microphone in Android for use in Instagram live?
Please post in the proper section questions go in the q/a section. Please review the rules below before posting.
Hello all,
I am interested in writing an Xposed module to enable all Android audio recording apps to have the ability to record all types of audio regardless of if a given app tries to block it, and including phone calls. Is this the appropriate way to handle the goal here? I believe I have tracked down the function calls in the Android API that need to be spoofed to achieve this, but I am still struggling. If I share what I have so far, would it be appropriate to ask here? I am not even sure if Xposed is the right way to go about this. Perhaps it should be done using Zygisk?
Thank you.

Hello.
I would like this!
Why just audio? What about video too?
What automated recording? I like it for VoIP and videoconferencing.

I apologize for the error. Even though I have been an XDA member for a while, I'm not one of the most active members, and therefore sometimes still struggle with navigating to the proper forum when asking questions. Thank you for pointing this out and correcting it.

Well, for video, there's really nothing that needs done that isn't already available in other Xposed modules. The only reason video recording would be blocked by an app is if it sets FLAG_SECURE, and there are already several Xposed modules that override it. Here is the one that I use on my phone: https://github.com/VarunS2002/Xposed-Disable-FLAG_SECURE
As for automated recording for VoIP and videoconferencing, that is outside the scope of what I would like to achieve with this module. Ideally, what I want this module to do nothing more than allows audio recording apps to access audio streams that they would not normally have access to. I am not sure if this is feasible though. Currently, all apps that have the ability to intercept audio streams that are not accessible through the Android API are closed source. The community needs an open source solution, and I would like to provide that, but I need help.
So, does anyone have an interest in this? Unfortunately I am kind of at a dead end until this is sorted out.
I'm very interested in this, but I'm not a developer unfortunately.

Thanks for your interest! If you know of anyone that is experienced with Xposed module development and would be willing to help me out, please pass this along to them.
Hello all! Is there still nobody with an interest in doing this?
I'm interested in this project as well, for change of that outdated VoIP recorder, but don't have any knowledge about it unfortunately, we have to somehow make more people know about this thread

I think that would be very useful!
Is there any way to make this thread alive and bring some developers? With new android versions upcoming and new devices, we won't be able to use boldbeast voip recorder anymore, and there's literally not a single alternative app to it, even cube acr isn't that good, can't record discord, skype, zoom etc..

I'd love to invest time in this again, but unfortunately, my personal life is packed with other things that are limiting my free time to further investigate this at the moment.
