If there are bubbles coming out, then there's water going in. The thing that really worries me is that they are coming from the charger connection. Where that water went, god only knows lol.

I would say no for a few reasons:
1: The SIM card tray and the MicroSD card tray do not appear to have any seals, and I think water can get in via the eject hole.
2: As above, the earphone jack isn't sealed, nor is the USB plug.
3: The iFixit teardown doesn't show any rubber seals or O-rings. It does show very well-fitting construction with glue used... but I don't think anything there is watertight so a dunking will get water inside the device.

Screen residue

I have found a residue about the size of a quarter on the bottom right side of my screen. I have tried removing it without success does anyone have any ideas on what this could be and the best way to remove it? This isn't a screen protector glue it literally appeared out of no where and creates a ruffness to the screen but it has no signs of scratches anywhere on there.

Have you tried using a rubbing alcohol or lense cleaning wipe? Did you put your phone near anything that may have spilled on it or left of unattended near untrustworthy folk?

Yes I tried rubbing alcohol and no and no
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
is it melted,? sounds stuiped I know. but my wife left a curling iron by her phone....
Try Goo Gone
Have you tried acetone? I'm not sure it'd be safe to use on the phone but you might try a q-tip on a small patch to see if it makes a difference? I find acetone usually works in times when alcohol doesnt. Just be careful.
I think I will take it in to the att store today Ans see I'd they can help at all.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
When I need to remove residue - such as from tape or stickers, either denatured alcohol or paint thinner will work. Where one doesn't work, the other will. Forget rubbing alcohol, most of that stuff is heavily watered down, usually by 25%.
Here's a tip, not phone related. Ever get gasoline on your hands and notice that washing with soap and water won't make the smell go away? Use a little paint thinner first, rub it all over your hands. Then use soap and water. There won't be a trace of odor left.
No offense, but the last thing you should be doing, is using chemicals of any kind. The phone has a warranty, so let AT&T handle it. The last thing you want, is chemical damage on your Note.

Anyone have any water proof suggestions?

I'm gonna be heading to the beach a lot this summer and I dont wanna put this phone somewhere on shore. I wanna keep it with me at all times. Anyone have something to protect against water?
I would avoid the beach at all costs. Between water and sand it's just a deadly combination for a cell phone.

I just went out on my seadoo rxp this past weekend with evo in tote. Went out in long beach harbor california. Was gonna settle on otterbox small case for 20 bucks but stumbled on a waterproof case down at Walmart for 6. It held registration, wallet, keys, and of course the EVO. Stayed dry all day even through my extreme play.

The exposed surfaces of the phone become what is called hydro phobic (literally "scared of water" but really just repels water). Like how water beads on a waxed car. However, so repelling of water that water can't get through cracks less than about a millimeter or so at close to surface pressures. Your phone has no holes that large but mic jack and USB, and while water goes into the big holes, it can't get past the smaller cracks inside them to get to circuitry.
That's the theory anyway. I'm still not going to try. I just stick my phone in zip lock bag whenever it might be exposed to water, like around the pool or in my sweaty pocket while mowing. Screen still works great, just follow usual precautions about sharp objects near phone (no keys in pocket).

I've used ziplock baggies fly fishing in waders and canoeing a handful of times. Works great for me, except not perfect for taking pictures... Touchscreen works fine through the bag...

Dumbest way you've broken your phone?

This is just a questionare in hopes that I'm not the only idiot who has done something retarded unintentionally and broke their phone. So I somehow thought that putting my phone under my halogen desk lamp on max would generate enough heat to remove the air bubbles from my newly installed ZAGG screen protector as the instructions say "heat will speed up the process." Well after about 20 minutes or so i picked up the phone and damn near burnt myself it was so hot. Dismantled it as quick as I could and let it cool for 45 minutes and of course melted the screen underneath the glass
Dropped my blackberry 8330 2 feet on fluffy carpet and cracked the screen in multiple spots pretty bad. Nothing before hand.

I sent an old Samsung flip phone on a journey through the washer and dryer late one night. I woke up wondering where my phone was and found it when I went to get my pants out of the dryer. Only phone I have owned that met an accidental demise that was the fault of a human or animal, it also led to my first smartphone, Treo 600.
I've never broken a phone. I tend to take really, really good care of my expensive toys.
The wife did wash and dry an LG env, but it never skipped a beat and still works to this day.
I placed my EVO 4g on top of the fridge in a rush. I didn't realize my EVO was half way on the freezer door till I opened it. Fell face down and shattered the s#&t out of the screen. I kind of deserved it for putting it up there in the first place.

I came in here to post this. The only time I've dropped a phone in the last 5 years is my wife smacking my phone out of my hand (on accident). She can be a klutz sometimes.

It didn't work right away, but after I let it dry out a bit, it worked again, but there was some significant issues with the phone. 3G didn't work at all anymore and the screen looked like it had a mountain picture burnt into the screen. Lol...

Something else to consider...don't crack the screen

http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/HTC+One+Teardown/13494/1
Just read this report from ifixit. They say it gets the worse repairability score ever! This means it will be nearly impossible to repair if you crack the screen and you'll have to keep insurance on this beast. I fix phones all the time so this is important to me. I feel it affects the long term value of the phone. HTC is making phones that look really good no the outside but the inside is designed to be a disposable device. I've got a problem with that. How do you guys feel about this?
You're really late.... There are other topics about this already.

What screws? They got the screen off and then a layer of foam padding, then found no other way to get the PCB and everything else out without pulling it out and damaging some of the plastic seating in the process.

OEM HTC Droid DNA Charging Port Rubber Cover

I know a few people have pulled theirs off on purpose. My puppy chewed mine off and it irritates me not being there now. I had been looking to replace it and found this:

$4 is cheap but it costs $18 to ship it.... has anyone found them for sale anywhere else?
I would email HTC first, they might send you one... I just needed a usb cable because mine broke and they sent a cable ans wallcharger!

If you want it bad enough.... I ripped mine off cause it was falling off anyway
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
I'd say it's not worth it at any price. It's just going to fall off again. Pretty much everyone I've known with one whether they liked it or hated it it still fell off soon or didn't function well anyway.
I always try to play nice with my phones. I hated that cover from day one but as always played nice (didn't rip or cut it off) but the day it fell off, I picked it up and put it in original box I also kept. My HTC incredible 1 and my HTC thunderbolt both made it till next upgrade with out that cover. Reminds me of those port covers on the older dumb phones that never really had a purpose but to make the port weaken over time, then go bad and phone quit charging. Not worth replacing at any price. But good luck to you if you really feel you need one!

I bought a used Employee Edition DNA and the owner ripped off the USB cover and did not mention it...
That site was the only one I found as well, and at first it was OOS but when it came back that shipping definitely killed it for me. Granted, it is shipping from Korea I believe, but it isn't worth it to buy a black USB cover... if it was Red I might have just sucked it up...
They may fall off "easily", but I have no use for the USB port right now anyway since I'm using a wireless charger... there are always ways to work around the USB cable to transfer files as well. Not sure why so many people look down on people who want to keep their flap intact...

I agree that it does get in the way... so much in fact that I did not want to use a DNA until I got a wireless charger =\
I'm just a bit OCD with my phones and given that the back is red, and then there's a sudden black break along the bottom with the missing USB door... just looks off to me.

It may depend on how you rip it out. Mine was already removed, but it seems to be cut and the rubber end in the phone is staying put and does not make any noise. I'd take your cover if you do get rid of it though

I would like to know if it really does keep water out as well, it says the phone is water resistant, but could that little plastic piece really hold back anything? FYI mine has been taken off as well so annoying to use i just said screw it and ripped it off one day. Haven't looked back since
For those of you that have replaced this rubber port cover, how easy/difficult was this process?
To replace the cover, you have to take off the entire back. The little port cover isn't held on by anything though, it just sits between the phone and the plastic backing. Unless you're an expert at taking unibody phones apart, it's not worth it because I broke the waterproof seal strip during the process. It was glued on.
Looks like you can get one for $6.80 here w/ free shipping
