Recovering Contact photo - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a problem that i have looked and looked and can't find any answer for it so hoping some experts here might have the answer.
I need to recover a photo of my dog which although is set as profile photo the original on my sd card is deleted and i would like to recover it before i reset the phone back to factory.
My understanding of this is that the photo is stored in the database of android contacts which is why it doesn't show up in gallery or any other file finding or photo finding apps. I would love to extract it as the dog has passed away and it's one of my favourites of him.
Please can you tell me how to extract the photo or if i am wrong regarding the location can anyone help me find it and remove it?
Yours in Hope:good:

I'll be in your Google account if you are synced... I'm not sure... Haven't tried.. Ever... But just go to g+ check your photos there... It might be there...!

Back when google was trying to push their naming convention of splitting 1 word into 2 i ended up with 2 google+ accounts but the photo is not on either. I ended up with scotchmizzed and Scotch Mizzed which i hate but they make it so difficult to combine, just not worth the hassle.
I just know it's on this device and would love to get it off.. Thanks anyway:good:

It should be in the Google contacts (if you are synced).
If you can't find it anywhere, you can always take a screenshot of the screen and then edit the image to get only the picture.

This is what I've had to do and with a bit of cropping it's not bad but was wanting to know if I could access the original in the hope it was maybe a better quality. Thanks very much for the reply anyway.

How do I save a corrupted picture that still shows on wallpaper?

Hey guys I was editing my picture with a photo editior on the phone and when I saved it, it somewhat corrupted it which will not allow me to view it however the wallpaper, which I set it under, still shows the picture... is the picture stored in a cache ? is there a way how I can grab it from registry?
Hey guys which thread consists of alot of views on XDA? no one talks about touch pro and all these old phones... just views no comments... =(
Sorry, I usually wait for others to post about these things before I formulate an opinion, much less voice it.
I don't know for sure if this will help but can you open the picture on your computer? Basically, copy the corrupted picture to your microSD and use an adapter that works and attempt to open the picture up on your computer.

I have the corrupted picture , but when I try to open it says it can not open it and its 0kb...I want to know if its like a computer, where sometimes I delete the wallpaper picture but still using it and for me to actually get it I have to go to the windows folder and find it to copy it.. however there isn't much in the windows on the windows mobile.
But thank you R^7z, I never hear from anyone here... its the only forums that never speaks.. seriously!
I'm not sure about this but I think PPCGeeks may have a louder CDMA RAPH fan base. Either that or there seems to be more talking in the newer device forums??? I usually hang out in the RAPH/Android forums when I am on here but occasionally I do browse the newer posts.
Not 100% as to where the actual picture is stored if that is the case. I imagine if this was a stock picture, you could get it back with a hard reset. Additionally, I wonder if the photo editor saves it somewhere?
Well first off I'm glad to see that I had saved it to my computer so I do have back up, but I'll continue my search to where it does save it to... once again thanks r^72. Most forums are talking about newer phones, android espically lol but yeah I post it up on ppcgeeks asweel and got a few info but waiting for tomorrow for more.

Actual image time stamp

I know with music you can look at the mp3 file with a program to see exactly when it was created and also check to see if the they changed m3u data. Is there something out there for pictures?
Basically someone sent me a picture, but right now I'm questioning if they actually took just then of the object, or was there a time lapse and they're claiming it as recent. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Never mind. Google is my friend. This can be closed. I don't know if I can do it myself with this app. I don't see the option.
An exif viewer would probably be your best bet for an app.

Sounds like it may be a fat chick. She's sending you a pic when she was skinny.
No. I ask your mom to stop sending me pics a long time ago. But do send her my regards when you see her.
Exif app seems to work from the market. I was able to confirm that indeed the capture did take place during the event. The only problem is the program on the market is a little crued. Best option I've found thus far is to just use the program on windows. It's time consuming, but works.
Ok, found two apps that will show the exif details on your image. Both work great, but one is more vibrant with their color scheme.

4/29/2012 Sprint PIcture Delete

Hey there,
Had to pay my bill today online and I noticed that there was an outstanding message.
Message is :::
"Picture Mail online storage is being discontinued 4/30/12. It's important you move the pictures and videos you want to keep to your PC or to your favorite photo or social networking site before 4/30/12. Visit sprint.com/picturemail for more information." ::::
So, just incase you have any stored on there you might want to d/l them to a local source when you can. I already checked mine and lost a whole bunch bc it seems their doing it little by little. Was just giving everyone a heads up so to speak. Honestly, not really at all bothered by this as I didn't like the fact that all pictures messages were saved no matter what you ( the customer ) chose. If you ask me its a good thing. I didn't like big brother always knowing what has been received nor sent. LOL
Also, for those of you who didn't know, if you did have a picture message but made an accidental delete, you still have a chance to retrieve them now before it gets to late. ( if it was during the last 45 days or somn like that)
Anywayz, sure a lot of people received the message but just putting it out there for those that didn't. Hope it helps ...
Z ..........
Good find. I didn't realize I had a bunch of saved pictures on there. Now they're safe and sound on my phone.
Thanks!
Didn't realize that people actually used that. Don't think I even have log in credentials for it.
Where can I access this from my phone?
I had to look this up also as I have never accessed it before. I didn't have any photos on the site.
LINK
is there a way to see pics i received?
While none are saved unless you personally do it, it tracks every picture mail you ever sent or received for a few months.
I used it a lot since I flash new ROMs and sometimes forget to save the images.

just use your normal browser and if you do not have your login info, hit the " no send me password" and they will send it to you via text or email. ( not sure what you have set up for notifications) and then logon as normal. This is from what I've been told but maybe someone that needs to do this can confirm?
thanx,
Z ..........
I went on that site last year and it had pics I uploaded way back when I was using the Sanyo 8100 10 years ago...so yeah..while you're on a different OS and time where sprint uses mms..back then they didn't...so all those picture mail pics are there.

Video mail-Help

I've had the OG evo, 3d and now lte.
How do I send videos through text messages? It's a short video, under 20 seconds. I trimmed it to be short(video of my 3 month old laughing). I watch my father in-law with his iPhone, take a video and then text it. Just like our phone can compresses pictures, the iPhone compresses his videos.
My video is 9mb now, if can compress and send via sms.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

New to the EVO LTE
I hate to dig up and old post, but people were less than friendly in the E4GT forum at times and I wanted to provide people with the idea that I do research a little before I post:
I need to get videos from a friend who has the same device as me, EVO LTE no rooted, from phone to phone. We only see each other during Jiu Jitsu and these are videos of my last tournament so I would like to have them.
We have tried:
Bluetooth (My device wasn't found, I have been on MeanROM he is stock)
Email (Videos are too big)
MMS (same issue as email)
Facebook (he could post them to his wall, but then I would have to get them off of there)
NFC (I am no dummy, but I couldn't figure out how to work it, plus the file is most likely too large)
Any help would be appreciated or other troubleshooting would help also. I am really just looking to brainstorm if there is no direct answer.
Maybe upload to Dropbox, SkyDrive, SugarSync or some other type of cloud type service or maybe one of the free web based servers like Mediafire, Hotfile, Rapidshare, etc... Just a matter of how large the files are.

Yea that was my last option, he is so unsavy technically. But I have an account I thought if I just logged in from his phone then upload the particular videos, I was just concerned about auto-loading some of his other files.

The sms/mms app compresses automatically. When i send something too large i get the animated circle and a message that says compressing.

Only short videos that are taken from the MMS setting will send either way, so pretty much these listed above are the only options....

Error: File size is big

Hi..
I have recorded a video which i tried to send through Whatsapp but i couldn't because the size is big. Is there any APP that would re-size it or like send it into more than one file (partition it)?

Hi. It is really sad, you know, that such phone like I9300 is so popular. Why? Because it is given as the Christmas gift, Frist Confession, Hanukkah and plenty other occasions to the peoples who:
1. Are too lazy to find easiest solutions by themselves
2. Are too pathetic to recognize even that this is NOT I9300 specific question, but generic Android one
This is XDA forum, you know... in theory, developers, troubleshooting of the mess created by unusual actions like overclocking, customizations etc.
But, OK, if your mom in at work, your nanny is busy with her boyfriend, let me help you.

I am truly sad that you had to trouble your hand in writing all of what you wrote.
I have already used Google and found several app's but it wasn't what i wanted exactly that's why i asked. I am not very sure why ur sad to help someone who of course ha looked and searched before asking!
The form and this section is for people to ask, so why you are sad again?

Video Editor on the Play store is my only suggestion .Or take the video to PC and cut it .
As you say Google search found nothing suitable i wont mention any of the apps found .
jje
Well, I'm guessing that you bought this phone new, and as a result you have 50gb of free Dropbox storage.
Why don't you upload whatever video you want on your Dropbox account and then send the public link to who ever it is that you wanted to send it to?
All of this can be done directly though the phone, so it shouldn't be so much of a hassle.
In the even that you got this phone off the second hand market, you have (AFAIK) 5gb of free storage on Google Drive, which is also hooked automatically to your Gmail account, so you could also use that.
Just trying to be helpful, good luck on your Android adventure.
