I remember on my lg g pro I could use the remote application without internet connection but for some reason Samsung won't let you use the remote without connecting to the internet for a cable show schedule update. What if we don't have internet , why would they limit the use of the ir remote... Anyone have a solution to using the remote when you have no connection ?
Who is your cable provider?

I dont have wifi and it works fine. I Posted a screen shot. Is this what your talking about. It's just asking to use your phone data to use the remote. Press OK and follow the setup.

I did many searches but can not use this feature. I wanted to communicate with my laptop, more research without success. I tried to download the file to another phone, which also has this feature, but there is the option to send, as in the other device.
Example: open the file regenciador => send => wifi direct. This option does not appear. But in another cell appears if it is sent via direct wifi.
I'm using a JJ's Hybrid ROM 3.0 with support for direct wifi.
found that source code, but I can not use.
https://github.com/android/platform...tree/master/src/com/android/settings/wifi/p2p
nobody knows an answer. Nobody knows how to use this technology to help me and help others? no direct communication between wifi and pc / laptop / cell phone ....

I do not know if that application will run. I do not know but I want to understand "linking" my device directly to the notebook using wifi so direct, that is without any connection with 3g/wifi. My research then without success.

Hey all, I have been looking everywhere for an app or method to remotely transfer files to AND from my android device from my pc, without the restriction of having to be on my local network wifi. I'm beginning to think there may not be one available, although I can't see why not.
Any Ideas?
If all you need is file transfering, try an FTP server.

Dropbox?
Pocketcloud, or teamviewer used with dropbox can accomplish this. Remote access your pc, copy file to dropbox, and download to sd card. A little tedious, but works for me.

Those all sound like they need WiFi, sounds like he's look to use Bluetooth? I mean you got to use something.
Agreed that dropbox or similar cloud storage may be your best bet. Just set up the desktop client to sync to a folder on your computer, and to go back to your phone, you can use a program like Dropsync, which offers two way syncing between phone and dropbox.

I wish somebody could get sshdroid or quicksshd to work over 3G or 4G, but I don't know enough about VZs network. If that works for somebody, then let me know.
One could use Tasker to maintain a VPN connection. I use VPNRoot.
Team viewer now can control droid remotely.
A phone as a PPTP server would be ultimate.

Hey guys, I need to pick your collective brains. I had an HTC a while back and when I connected it to my computer it gave me an option to "share computer internet connection with phone" and I'm needing this in my life at the moment... Essentially I am unable to connect to the WiFi network nearby with my phone but apparently my laptop's Wi-Fi radio is bigger (and stronger) and able to establish a connection. I know it's archaic but I'd like to share that connection with my cell phone. Is anyone aware of an app that can do this or a way to work this out? I also have a tablet I'd like to do this with as well. Any and all help/advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

It depends on what items you have... Do you have a router?? If so, do the following:
Open Network Connections by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, clicking Network and Sharing Center, and then clicking Manage network connections.
Right-click the connection that you want to share, and then click Properties. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Click the Sharing tab, and then select the Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection check box.
Once this is done, hook up your wireless router to your PC, and go ahead and set it up. Choose an SSID that is unique and not a cloned name of the connection you just shared. Once this is done, connect all your wireless devices to the newly set up router. The PC will read these connections, and port them through your WiFi that you are connected to.

I would recommend taking a look at FoxFi and if your rooted Wireless Tether for Root Users. Keep in mind depending on your carrier handles tethering you may have to change some app settings, for tethering to function properly. Let me know if you still have questions.

Are using the wireless hotspot or USB tethering feature of Foxfi? Make sure that your in a location where your phone is getting a strong data signal as well.
Hey, my problem is the following: I have internet on my PC, not on my phone, no, I don't want reverse tethering, I just want to be in the same connection!
The problem is the connection on my PC goes away if I do that!
Halp!
Use Connectify s/w and create a wifi hotspot. For this you will need Wifi dongle for your pc.

Doesnt work on my device, no one of the reverse tethering stuff works!
There's a s/w called 'Android Tool'. It works on rooted device only and requires xposed. You can try that if you're rooted.
Search in the xda forums or if you wish I can mirror it for you.
