If anyone had HTC One X, holding onto the Back button instead of tapping would kill/close the app currently open at least as of 4.1, however on the Z2 holding onto the Back button doesn't do anything
And the Task killers/App closers on play store I've found on don't really work, even the "Close All" doesn't completely close the apps, only Force Stop when you go into settings of individual apps. Which is really silly because the Z2 packs 3GBs of ram, sometimes you find it's down to about 1GB free
Is this just something that'll be addressed by the modding scene once we can strip out all the shovel bloatware? And yes I have the TW D6053 Z2

To close an app press the back button to leave or hit home to go home
Press the recents key and swipe it off the list, it will now be closed and kept in the ram for a tiny bit and removed if you don't open the app again
The force stop in the settings is normal, you can still hit the button if an app is stopped already
Ram is not an issue, ignore it, Linux will automatically clear out ram if needed, most of it is usually cached files anyway
Bloatware can cause these issues but you can disable these bloatware apps from the settings , you can uninstall with root

Assuming you rooted and unlocked your phone, did you have trouble updating to 17.1.A.2.55?
It says Could not verify and I get the feeling I have to relock bootloader just to update it, do I need anything else? I'm redownloading flashtools right now
i am rooted and unlocked
with a unlocked bootloader you cant use Sony PC companion
i use flashtool and any avaliable FTFs to update
i had no verify issues

Ah, there's no FTF out for the TW Z2s yet, I try to relock my bootloader through flashtool but the phone won't start, I guess I can't update to 17.1.A.2.55 yet
Holding back on the one x wasn't enabled by default, it was an option in the developers settings, which was taken out in a later build. It's certainly not on mine any more anyway yet I did have it at some point. I don't think it's really needed on the later android builds to be honest. App handling has become a lot better

Bit odd to find an One X user in a Z2 forum haha, I think I stopped updating around early 2013 because mike's Android Revolution HD stopped updating, it was something like android 4.0 but nonetheless, I guess i'll just either wait for a mod or something, there's still some apps that won't close on their own on the Z2

I've had wave launcher on my phone since gingerbread, now I'm on I'VE and everytime I try to open the app itself to change some settings, it keeps giving me the message that it stopped working. Although it works when restoring my backup from titanium after restarting. I have no idea why I'm not being able to launch it through app drawer.
Anyone else having this problem?

Maybe it's having compatibility issues with ICS? I saw a comment on the app (not that we can really take those as gospel) from a gnex user saying it wasn't playing nice with ics.

I have the same problem in my Galaxy SII with official ICS 4.0.3, the first times the app is active and I could go to the settings from the notification shortcut but when the app closed i couldn't opened anymore because when I try to open from the app drawer (that is the only way to active because the shortcut in the notification isn't there) it's always giving me force close.
The first times the wave is active when i restarted the phone because it was configured to open in startup but after two or three restarts it didn't activated anymore.
I tried everything I have installed all previous versions of wave launcher and the only that didn't give this problem is the 1.5 version but this version doesn't support widgets.
I don't understand why such a great application didn't receibed an update in 9 month, I hope the developer isn't dead
Sorry for my english.
I'm from Uruguay.
The only problem i had was the app would force close when launching from the drawer. So what i did was, i cleared the data, restarted and started from scratch again. of course the app still force closes when launching from the drawer and before, i hid the notification icon so there was no way to get to settings. Now its back and everything is working exept the only problem o had before, i have changed the settings and the apps i wanted to put are there. I can access it from the notication easily.

Have you tried Swipepad? I remember it being similar with Wave Launcher.... It even has more shortcut available (up to 12 I think)
I haven't used it for a couple months after resetting my phone though. So, I don't know if it works with ICS
waved launcher force close on ics
Me too.. ref: v1.8.1
Same force close problems.. Once I managed to get it up & running (that was the first & last).
Now I can't even get it to install, "unfortunately wave launcher has stopped"..
YES DELICATELY NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ICS (like most fancy launchers like ultimate faves pro

the stock launcher will not lag on its own, check for background cpu utilization with os monitor app and disable those apps .

Another thing to consider is whether you've got power saving on or off? If it's on and CPU power saving is turned on, the CPU runs at 800mhz rather than 1400mhz. This will show a noticeable difference in smoothness.

i just wanna share how i got rid of the lag and home respawn issue on my sgs3... i'm not saying it is a fix but these are the only things i did that work for me... there is no harm in trying...
1. disable double tap home button to activate s voice.
2. disable s voice using application manager
3. reboot... and after 3 days, no lag or whatsoever... but there was always the home respawn thing when i'm running a lot of apps on background...
4. uninstall facebook app... this app seems to eat most of the memory... reboot... now, i don't need to close any program running thru task manager... i check it and see 12 apps running but never had a respawn.. all is well now... i don't even think of rooting flashing a rom now... everything just seems to be running so well...
**i know some of you would say that it's not an option to uninstall FB app, i for myself would love to use it but i'd rather have a lag and respawn free sgs3 and use the FB desktop mode... but then again...that's just me...

That's probably launcher redrawing, and I've noticed it happening a couple of time on mine too. It's pretty much Android that kills the launcher at one point, which it shouldn't do, so I guess Sony will have to up the priority of the launcher in an update.
I believe I read a post somewhere here that mentioned a way to temporarily fix this issue, but I'm not sure if it was @hamdogg or @blueether

There is a way using build.prop to keep the launcher in memory, but with android 4.*.* it is anyway so that won't help. You could try it, but theoretically it shouldn't help.
Add the following line into your build.prop file:
ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1

That's not even close to what i thought the problem was. Have you updated to the newest Album version (which was released yesterday)? Also, try using QuickPic or something to set your wallpaper. Lastly, go to Settings -> Apps -> Home -> Clear Cache and data (this will clear all homescreen widgets, app sorting etc.)

You could make the "OOM" (out of memory) higher. Several root apps give the opportunity to do this. You could also add an exception for the launcher in one of those apps.

Thanks for the update. This exactly same thing happens with my note 3 neo. I also use S-View Cover. And whenever I keep the phone idle for some time and open cover, there is restart. I haven't observed this restart in any other scenario.!!
I also cleaned cache and uninstalled many applications, kept only few apps which are necessary, so far it didn't restart let me keep testing it!!
I also checked on the net and found that many Note 3 (Not Neo) users have reported similar issues, they talk about many solutions, but not sure if they will really work on Neo 3.
Will post if don't observe any restart after this.

Make a factory reset or two. When I was flashing a rom on my old galaxy s1 I used to wipe 3 times before flashing. Just wipe once , let it boot and wipe again

In Recovery, wipe cache partition and reboot. Check if that helped
