Adfree is the better addblocker for me and works great on my SM-G900H

The most power anf lite apl is AdFree https://www.google.ae/url?sa=t&sour...QQFjAA&usg=AFQjCNHpbNTjF86O16ax_l-Vo4CPh0Deqw

Does it blocks ads in all apps?

Is there an ad blocker that doesn't require root?
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

AdFree is definitely the best one. It doesn't need to run an app in the background to work.

Adfree and adblock plus have an issue with embded YouTube video

adblock-plus doesn't require root, and can block ad from both web browser and app via both 3g/4g and wifi

Adfree works good too!!

Does Adfree just populate the hosts file like Adaway?

if the phone is rooted try this. Blocks ads without breaking apps ( youtube still works ).

Adaway is open source and does exactly the same thing. I prefer open source. Adfree is not, i can't see how one could be better than the other beyond the politics of software. They both use the hosts file, so it's moot.

Anything Free for unrooted phones ?
You probably can't do it for non-rooted phones.
bcz there's 2 ways i know how
1) add free
2) root explorer and manually edit hosts.
both require root.
Yup all the ones I know require rooting as well......... root the phone
Flash this file, rooted or not. Bingo!
EDIT: by that, I mean throw the attached ClockworkMOD Recovery update.zip on the phone.
A revert flashable would be good for people that do that and dont want to root.
Thanks. I couldn't remember the name of the app. Thanks!

Hide root?

Got one app (barclays mobile Banking) which won't install if it detects root. I've seen a couple of xposed modules which hide root but comments say they don't work. Anyone know of anything?

Nah, i only know about the same Xposed modules that you mentioned. Have you tried some of those though? Maybe one of them will work.

Yeah, will try them I guess. Which one do you use? I'm looking at RootCloak if youve heard of it?

I'm not using any, but I've only read about them. Is RootCloak the on for Xposed?

I don't know if OTA rootkeeper will help you. It's the only app I know that hides root, but I don't if it works on the Ultra or not.

You have to choose the option to temporarily unroot, which allows apps such as Sky Go to work. Once you have finished using Sky Go, and similar apps, you can unhide root and have full root privileges again.

Unfortunately doesn't work with barclays mobile Banking app for others info. Don't know what procedure they do to check root but it seems pretty thorough. Shame.

O use SuperSU to hide root on my Tablet Z. Works fine.

[Q] Any workaround for MMS and Adblock Plus?

I would like to have Adblock Plus, but I must have working MMS for work.
I tried to modify the build prop, but I can't get it to work properly.
Anyone have a workaround for this?
I use AdAway, and have no problems with MMS.

Ad away is on the viper rom. Have no issues with MMS here with that either

Yes. You can search Fdroid and it will come up. Once it is installed you have to choose download and apply. After that you need to reboot (don't let the app restart for you.) Every time you dirty flash a Rom you will have to do this again or it will not be applied. Other than that, it runs great.

Uninstalling System Apps after finding alternatives

As the title says, I've found some great alternatives to my Messaging and Phone apps and would like to know if I can uninstall those apps and only use my alternatives?

Depends on the app. Just freeze it first and see if it causes issues. If it doesn't then delete it to free up space

I'll give it a shot. Thanks.
EDIT: Freezing the app disabled the actual call functionality from the entire phone, even from the user app PixelPhone Pro. Is there no way to disable just the stock phone interface without disabling it functionality?

You can disable certain components of apps using root. Like, if you don't want to see the default messaging app you can disable that activity. In your case, you can disable the dialer activity and it won't show up in your activity drawer, it also won't be launchable from other apps either, yet the rest of the app is still fully functional.
