Any KK NC5 Odex hotsopt? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Guys,
Is there any Odex Hotspot MOD available for KK NC5?

It's not free but it seems to work. READ INSTRUCTIONS IN DESCRIPTION LINK FOR CORRECT SETTINGS. Also, it's a good idea to reboot, after using and disabling properly, before using phone as normal. Check out "WiFi Tether Router"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.snclab.wifitetherrouter
Also, you need root.

There is a rom (fre3 for NC5D) in the dev section that has Odex framework and has working Hotspot mod.
Aside from that rom, I'm unaware of any standalone, flashable, native Odex Hotspot mod.

Please guide me on how to install that rom. I updated mine to nc5 and rooted. I couldn't find a native odex mod either hopefully developers would make it soon.

Does anyone know if a flashable mod for the stock rom has been release yet?

Ylla26,
I have written a comprehensive post on installing custom ROMs. Please see that post for information. Since you already have NC5, you can skip step #3. Step #4 is not required, but I'd recommend it anyways.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
Hope this helps!

Guys you need to keep looking and search on the forum. All the questions are already answered you just need to look for it instead of asking for it.
Step by step: You don't need to root your phone in order for this to work.
Get your MSL/SPC number using the app from this link: http://tools.flashingtools.com/SPCUtility.apk
Dial ##data#
Select Edit
Put your MSL # and click OK
Scroll to bottom and select More
Scroll to bottom and select LTE APN Settings
Got to APN2 LTE internet
Go to APN type
Add ,dun at the end
Now it should be default,mms,dun
Got to APN2 EHRPD internet
Go to APN type
Add ,dun at the end
Now it should be default,mms,dun
Go to Settings
Change Hotspot to ON
Done. It should work now.

There are two other methods you can activate the Hot Spot. Check the following posts:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=54148182
and/or
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53723731
Read the second method on this post, you need to have your phone rooted then you just change the telephony.db file with the one posted. There's 5 pages on that post so make sure you read them all before ask a question.

First off most all credits to Fresh aka flipzmode for base and tweaks(Fresh Evo 3d 4.2.0)
I love Fresh roms been using them for ages and I finally decided to do my own with correct boost mobile mms, native voicemail notifications fix etc so here it is.
This is an alpha but should run just fine as I have been running it perfect.
Although this is an alpha i take no responsibility for how it affects your phone.
FLASH Responsibly and at your own risk.
changelog 0.1
Removed system apps
-Phone.apk
-vtt-sprint.apk
-Sprint_InstallerNC_v2_1_0.apk
-SPCSCorp4G.apk
Replaced stock Phone.apk with patched evo voicemail notification fix for boost see here for more info.
Correct Boost mms settings/url set
Added following apks
-com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup.. aka Titanium Backup
-mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser.apk aka Dolphin HD browser
-org.lsartory.cachecleaner.ng.. aka cache cleaner NG
-wifi_tether_v3_1-beta11.apk
various minor tweaks such as
-changed default browser url to google from sprints power deck

1. via adb see here

2. thanks to louforgiveno for this
louforgiveno said:
Yes you can as long as the rom is deodexed. You can use a root explorer app, copy phone apk to sdcard, then use a root explorer navigate to the apk copy it and paste it to system/app. Once you do that youll get an error message, do a battery pull restart root explore back to the system/app folder find the phone apk and change its permissions to match the other files in the directory and restart again. You'll be good to go after that....It's a few more steps than the adb method but it works 100%

there is no boost radio uses same radio as sprint as it uses sprint network and towers
the prl should be the same but u would have flashed that from your "donor" phone already prior to this
also if your phone is flashed mostly like ha secret and esn meid is "correct" dialing ##32823 then data profile>menubutton> restore will reboot and handsfree activate it and setup those values for you
go sms is useless. all u have to do is type ##DATA# (##3282#), hit edit mode and type in your "MSL". navigate to advanced and change the "MMS Server URL" to "http://mm.myboostmobile.com". i have had my evo 3d since its release and have never had a problem sending or recieving pics.
What doesnt work
-WIMAX/4G (Boost Mobile doesnt support it)
since boost mobile uses sprint towers can we roam sprint towers for the wimax 4g signal with a custom prl ??? now that will be a hot hit for many xxx

WiFi Tether on Rooted OTA VRUAME7

I rooted my OTA VRUAME7 Verizon S4 but can't seem to get wifi tether to work. I've tried both of the newest Wifi Tether for Root (3.3 beta 2 and 3.4 experimental 1). Changing the device-profile to S4 doesn't help. It will start up and say "started with errors." Checking the log results in a "no log file" error.
I also hunted around with SQLite Editor trying to find an entitlement check, and came up empty (to use the built-in mobile hotspot).
Has anyone successfully figured out how to WiFi Tether on a rooted OTA VRUAME7?
Thanks in advance! :good: :good:
To add the hotspot toggle:
Download app => Click Me
Got to => Settings storage
Click => settings.db
Click => system
Search for "notification"
Highlight => notification_panel_active_app_list
Click the edit "pencil"
In the "value" section add "WiFiHotspot;" anywhere you like...
Restart phone
Note: Make sure your list ends with a semi-colon
If you see the warning screen, just hit home.

Bypass T-Mobile Tethering Restriction?

I've seen it mentioned in a couple of threads, but haven't found a definitive answer or solution yet. Has anyone managed to get a working hotspot hack up and running to bypass the T-Mobile upsell page? The existing method of using SQLite Editor to edit settings.db doesn't seem to work for me. I love this phone, but really miss my hotspot from the Note 3.
Any help is certainly appreciated.

hmm. That seems to be what I need but the Tutorial makes the assumption that I have the ability to navigate to the proper system files and edit them. I tried and using windows explorer, I cannot find the system folder. If you could, would you make a Noob Guide TuT so that us Non-Devs could have WiFi Tethering? First your phone needs to be rooted, then you need to have ES File Explorer installed on your phone. You can use ES File Explorer to edit the file in the system folder.
1. Open ES File Explorer
2. Pull up the Menu for it (hold down the multitask button for that)
3. Tap on Tools
4. Turn on Root Explorer
5. Tap on Root Explorer on the left side and go to Mount R/W
6. Make sure all of the settings are set to RW, tap OK
7. Up top tap / that should take you to the root of the phone,
Now you should be able to follow the instructions from the previous link i sent you to Jovy's TuT. Make sure to also edit the one above the Tethering APN and enable it to be editable.
When you click on the file it opens it up in read only, you have to hit the menu in the top right corner to edit the file.
Be very careful and only change what he tells you to change. I would make a back up of the file and place it somewhere you know you can find it.
Once you have enabled the APN and saved the file restart your phone. Once you are restarted navigate to where the APN's are. System Settings, More Networks, Mobile Networks, Access Point Names. Once you are there click on the top right corner and tap Reset to Default. That should pull down the new settings so you can edit your APN settings.
Then follow these instructions.
Need to change your APN, simply navigate to Settings > More > Mobile networks > Access Point Names. Select your T-Mobile APN, and scroll to APN protocol. Change this to IPv4, and then save your APN
I think that covers everything that I did.

Just a heads up, buddy. I flashed TWRP via Odin (from our root thread) and then flashed the Omega v1.2 ROM for the International S5 (there's a thread here for it, I can link you if need be). Hotspot works fine out of the box!
Plus, you can also have the pleasure of saying you tried the first custom ROM for the S5. Everything appears to be working as well, so I'm gonna stick with this. No CIQ, no Knox, Hotspot is a go.... I'm a happy camper now!

Correct. Once you hit your limit on the account they throttle you. I blow through 19GB average a month and the 5GB limit really upsets the Kid in the backseat when all she gets from Netflix on the iPad is <Buffering>
There was a fix with the S3 that avoided the throttle bottleneck.

Hopefully someone makes a rom with this on it Unrestricted Native Tethering + Evade Data Cap Throttle + MORE!

I'm only set for 2.5gb a month, but I'm on a business account also. I tether all the time and go way past the 2.5 most months, they throttle me down. What your saying is that they won't be able to monitor the Hotspot?

Have you all tried Wifi Tether Experimental. I'm not sure if that requires a custom kernel or if it will work with stock.
Someone will make a rom with Unrestricted Native Tethering + Evade Data Cap Throttle + MORE! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2057344
Then you get free Tethering from data lte not Hotspot data

I have been using WiFI Tether Router for a long while now. It gives you unrestricted tethering. Make sure to read the instructions for T-Mobile phones on the developers Web page. https://sites.google.com/site/wifitetherrouter/home/device-configuration it works great as long as you are rooted. I use about 120GB a month with 2 AT&T phones tethering off of me at work. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.snclab.wifitetherrouter

First your phone needs to be rooted, and then you need to have ES File Explorer installed on your phone.
7. At the top of ES File Explorer tap / that should take you to the root of the phone,
Now go to System, CSC, and open customer.xml
When you click on the file it opens it up in read only, you have to hit the menu in the top right corner to edit the file.
Be very careful and only change the things below. I would make a back up of the file and place it somewhere you know you can find it. What you are going to change is in bold.
<ProfileName>T-Mobile US LTE</

<Auth>none</Auth>

<Editable>yes</Editable> -------------------Change to yes
<EnableStatus>enable</EnableStatus>
<ProfileName>T-Mobile MMS LTE<

Save the changes and reboot
Once you are restarted navigate to where the APN's are. System Settings, More Networks, Mobile Networks, Access Point Names. Once you are there click on the top right corner and tap Reset to Default. That should update the APN, you can now go in and verify that under T-Mobile US LTE the APN protocol is now set to ipv4. If the change didn’t pull over you should be able to edit it and change it to ipv4;
These are the Wifi Tether Router Settings from the developer below. Make sure that your WiFi is turned on before you start the app.
For Samsung Galaxy S5 using this config
Interface wlan0
Method 3 - HostApd
Encryption wpa2-psk
Channel 1
Drivers nl80211
"HostApd Patch" <- UNCHECKED
"No Firmware Reload" <- UNCHECKE

This is the one i use for Chrome - User-Agent Switcher for Chrome

[MOD] Unlock your native hotspot app

I have shifted my focus and will no longer support the mods in this thread, please see http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...apps/app-gs5-native-hotspot-unlocker-t2980905 for my latest work to unlock your native hotspot. Thanks for testing these as they came up and all of your input.
**NOTE**
This has been tested by a few people in the original thread with success, your mileage may vary. As always, you are responsible for your phone, and it's warranty.
**PREREQUISITES**
1 Your phone must be rooted, I have followed the guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2696537
2 You must have a custom recovery installed, I have used the one from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2697762
So here is the step by step:
1. Make a backup
2. Download the appropriate zip for you rom version. The three letter code in the filename should match the last three letters of your rom version. Odex version is for odexed roms, deodex version for deodexed roms.
3. Flash the zip and reboot.
Thanks to @Scolias for jumping on the zip creation so fast, and being the first one to test the modification (other than me)
**UPDATE***
For the original mod version:
If you update your PRL you will need to reflash and reboot:
Thanks for the heads up @Y.G.
**UPDATE 2***
Added Icon in Notification panel, Thanks @eyecon82 for providing the SQL data for Notification panel. Also added some SQL to try to enable bluetooth and usb tethering, let me know how they work. Download and flash version 1.2 for these updates.
***Update 3***
Since it has already been pulled into a DeOdex for our phone, and the same modification used on the s3 KitKat I figured I would post the services.jar files here too. You need to be on DeOdex for these to work, and note that the latest DeOdex available for our Sprint S5 from @sleshepic already has this built in. These are mostly just for reference, and so all the hotspot downloads are in one easy to find place.
ND2 Services.jar - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2714478&d=1398719510
NCB Services.jar - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2716739&d=1398822075
Rename the file to Services.jar for your baseband version, backup your old copy and put the new one in. Using the Services.jar survives PRL updates and does not require the usage of the previous mods.
If anyone needs it I can post the changes in the smali files here, its pretty simple though using grep in tethering.smali, it involves setting a var to 0x0 from 0x1, in the tethering.smali by the dun_required string.
***Update 4***
Big thanks to @rocket321 for helping me out with odexing. I have made a flashable zip that uses services.jar instead of modifying the APN. Flashing the new version will remove all APN modifications from the previous versions and install the new services, jar for odex or de-odex versions. Currently I have only built for ND2 roms, if there is any need for NCB let me know and I will work on it. New files attached below, just flash from recovery and tether . Enjoy and if this helps you please give thanks, and don't forget to thank @rocket321 as well.
Anybody making ROMs feel free to incorporate the files below, otherwise they should be able to be flashed right on top of the rom, assuming there are no modifications to the services.jar file in the desired ROM..
***Update 5***
Added NCB zips, built jars and odexes using my new tool modStudio
***Update 6***
Added NE5 versions to downloads, big thanks to @crawrj and @townsenk for making them
***Update 7***
Added NI3 versions, need testing the size of the ODEX package has shrunk and I am not sure why. Please let me know if you guys notice anything weird, so far so good for me but YMMV. Added back new dynamic way of adding to the notification panel, again let me know how this works out.
***Update 8***
Added new NI3 versions for testing, make a backup before testing JIC
***Update 9***
Cleaned up OP a little

@miked63017 Just a heads up. If you update the profile or PRL, the hotspot mod is overwritten and you have to flash it again to unlock it.
Worked for me too. Thanks a million, this was the only thing i missed from my GS4.
@miked63017 for the Moto x native hotspot could be allowed by an xposed module. Is it possible to incorporate the settings changed by your flashable zip into an xposed module?

Sprint will sometimes push a PRL update in the background if there are issues on a cell tower caused by your phone dropping and blocking a connection to quickly. So if you notice the hotspot not working, I would just re-flash the hotspot mod. Just in case sprint did a PRL update in the background with out you knowing,
Flashed this and can confirm that both USB and Wi-Fi tethering work. Thanks!

I am sure it could, but I have never worked with xposed. If anyone has please feel free to include this in a module, but I think we need to get an apk modded for it to work, not just a sqlite hack. What is the status of exposed on the s5 anyway?

That module actually works on the S5 if you use SQLite editor to add the build.prop edit to a file outside of the build.prop (since for some reason, the line was moved).

I took a quick peek at the volume mod for the s4 and I don't think we can do it the same way. Thats not saying it can't be done but...
Also, you might want to post this as a question in the Q/A section, it will get more attention there since this thread is related to the hotspot not many people will look here for ideas regarding audio mods.
