[Q] SPRINT NOTE 3 unlocking,rooting and experience advice,PLEASE !!! - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Hello guys
I'm from Europe, but I'm planning to get Samsung Galaxy NOTE 3 from USA.I have been reading a little bit on the forum on USA models. My friend can get me NOTE 3 from SPRINT carrier, for not much money..It has unlocked boot loader, not too late updates and I can use it here in Europe with European SIM card(I think). Other carriers have NOTE 3 (like VERIZON and AT&T) but with locked boot loader, and from I have read,VERIZON makes updates last on their phones....
Can you please tell me your personal experience with SPRINT'S version of NOTE 3,so I can decide whether to get it or look elsewhere?
And if you are asking why do I want to buy SAMSUNG NOTE 3 from USA and not from Europe, the answer is because I have someone over there ,who can get it much cheaper for me.
Is there a way to unlock the phone for free here on the forum and easily root it in some safe way?
And will it work on European frequencies including 3G and 4G ?
Thank you in advance

I'm pretty sure you can't just insert a European SIM card into it. It won't work. Can someone confirm this?

Sprint has to unlock it and it has to be on a sprint account for 90 days before they will

So then, maybe it is better to go with T-MOBILE's NOTE 3,instead of Sprint. If there is no possibility of unlocking the phone e.t.c..maybe then I will have problem with frequencies here in Europe as well....

Best unlocked Samsung Galaxy series phone

Okay gang, I need your help. I'm new to the android landscape (note was my first android device) and was asked by a good friend of mine to find her a phone.
She's looking for a Unlocked Samsung Galaxy series phone that she can use here in the US as well as be able to swap a sim card and use for service in Italy when she visits.
So two questions. What device do you all recommend, and where is the best place to procure it?
Thanks in advance!! I know this is a galaxy note forum, but couldn't think of a better group of folks to field these questions

Agreed. The unlocked Nexus $399.99 is the best choice for now.
Sent from my AT&T Galaxy Noteā„¢ - please forgive any typos
Here's a list of frequencies used by country:
http://allworldcellphones.com/gsm-frequencies-list.htm
Italy uses GSM 900 and 1800 frequencies which is supported by the International Note as well as the I717. I didn't see anything about LTE or HSDPA related figures, but I only looked for 3 min and clicked the first link.
My suggestion would be for her to determine what she wants in a phone. Does she want to take notes? does she want a small phone? As long as the phone has the proper frequencies, she would be able to use it in Italy. Most AT&T phones have the capability of running 800 and 1800 as well as many others, but verify by looking at the specs before buying. If she has a US carrier in mind (like AT&T) she can buy one of those subsidized and pay an unlock fee from a site (cheapest I've heard of was $8) and will probably save money.
If she wants to buy a phone outright I'd say look at the galaxy 2 series. From what I hear it's a great phone, a large community here (if she feels the urge to mod it) and can pick a new unlocked one for about 400.
Hope this helps a little.
any international unlocked phone will work. the international gs3 wouldnt be a bad bet. n7000 as well. you just wont have lte. I would not recommend an at&t direct phone because it will not be unlocked. so sim flipping could be an issue in italy.
International Galaxy Note, Galaxy Nexus, or wait for the Galaxy S3 to come out.

Sprint Galaxy S 3 (USA) vs international galaxy s 3 question

Here is my issue. I am currently in the US. I might teach ESL overseas in Korea in January. I am not sure which phone to get. Will the USA one work over in Korea? Will thew international one work in the US?
It could work but Sprint has the radios locked.
Would developers be able to get them unlocked?

They propably can but the intl one supports more radio frequensies and is assembled to work worldwide so I'd buy it in any case rather than us version.

The international one works in the US flawless... just not on all carriers... it works the best on AT&T if you want to use it in the US and get 4G(HSPA+)
You can use it on T-Mobile but you will have to settle for EDGE(2G)
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
It would work on most carriers which uses the international frequencies.
Not just AT&T for US. Works with Rogers, Fido, Telus, and Bell Mobility in Canada for instance.

Just a side note, HSPA+ is not 4G. It's still 3G. LTE/WiMax is 4G.
so which companies will it work with 4g/lte? Will it not work with Sprint? Anyone know any deals for the international version?
Sprint (and Verizon) is on an old CDMA network while the majority of the world is on GSM, you know, operating with a SIM card. If you're set on travelling, it's better to get any of the GSM-variant, that way, you can just pop in any sim card from any major carriers all over the world.
I currently have a photon which has a sim card slot in it. So the Galaxy s international wont work on Sprint? Damn I want to keep my SERO plan lol. So where can I get an international verison from? Also would I have to pay full price for it?
Does the photon has an active sim card in it? I'm assuming no. I've never used a dual-mode phone before (nor am I familiar with how they operate on different networks), so I dont know the ins-and-outs on how to get it activate for a GSM carrier.
Damn, now i have a headache just trying to figure out how it works to have an intl GSM phone on a network that is predominantly CDMA whom happens to offer a dual-mode phone on their network
Call sprint problem solved

The SIM in the Photon is just for roaming. Sprint does not use SIM cards - even their LTE phones have them embedded rather than user-accessible.
As the Sprint Galaxy S III is not a 'global' phone - i.e. does not have both GSM/UMTS and CDMA radios - do not purchase it if you have any intention of using it outside the US. CDMA is no longer a global technology.
Confuses me a little that people spend so much on devices without checking what networks they support. Ho-hum.

T-Mobile S5 on AT&T network??

The Note 3 and few other devices from T-Mobile can pick up AT&T LTE signal, can the S5 do so as well? Where can we get the device unlocked?
Edit: I have found a website where I believe you can unlock any gsm Galaxy S 5 (I haven't tried it myself but others have) here is the site
http://www.theunlockingcompany.com
It should work without any issues. The cost is $41.99 USD.
Edit 2: This website has been confirmed to be working great

Yes it absolutely have all AT&T LTE bands, as well as HSPA/GSM ones. Just needs to be unlocked.
Is there a way to network unlock the phone right now? I was going to switch back to ATT today but I might use my Jump on an S5 before I go.
I believe cellunlocker.net should have that unlock soon hopefully...

As of today we are no joy.
T Mobile makes you wait 40 days before they will release the unlock code. And it's $760 total.
I too want this answer -- I paid $660 plus tax ($720) to get mine yesterday.
I bought from TMo because I had read that they aren't locked and the sales person told me the same -- well, it seems that it is. Called Tech Support and they said they can't help me because I don't have a TMo #.
I'll go back to the store today -- unless there's another option.

Has anyone tried to use Samsung Secret codes to unock it? I am not sure if this works for the S5 or not, but there are steps you can use on the S4 that allows you to unlock the phone using codes - See this thread for steps - (careful - I am not positive this works - I don't know what the downside might be if you screw up - but it might be an option - or possibly something similar? )http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2283068

Does anyone know if the Tmo S5 have the exact same bands as AT&T S5? I am wondering because in Chicago, AT&T has LTE-A and wanted to make sure the Tmo version would also have this if used on AT&T network. Thanks in advance.

Carrier Aggregation is only enabled on AT&T S5 variant. As far as individual AT&T LTE and HSPA+ bands, they're all present on T-Mobile variant.

No, I checked a video from samjpullen on youtube, he is fairly known youtuber and he recommended the site. Here is his video:
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=phOSUUIM2W4
He is in the UK but I did check the site when you choose Samsung and then choose galaxy s 5 it asks you which country and what carrier. When I had the T-Mobile note 3 I didn't need to activate it to unlock it.

Nice. I did check multiple unlock sites and several of them had the T-Mobile S5 listed. Didn't want to buy it without knowing if it would work though. I also know some people at T-Mobile so I'm going to see if they can do something for me as well. I just want the phone already, lol.

Sprint Note 3 unlock for Att (Gsm)

I got a Sprint Note 3 from craigslist. Everything works. Got a great deal on it.
Now i want it to work on the Att network which i know is GSM and Sprint is mainly a CDMA carrier.
Well, i read the thread on the UICC unlock and it looks like that phone can work on GSM carriers after all.
I am not a Sprint customer so i can't get it "Internationaly Unlocked"
What way can i go about it? CAn i only flash to other CDMA carriers?
What route can i go. Will there ever be a GSM unlock?
It can always be flashed to boost. Pretty sure there's some threads floating around about it.

Could you provide us some "flash to boost" link/tutorial?
Here is a start
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmvCpR45LKA
start reading this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2593305 all your questions have been discussed there
The short answer is "no, without being a Sprint customer and having Sprint unlock international GSM, you will not be able to use the GSM portion of this phone"
not sure why you bought the phone in the first place, sounds like this is Sprint bad ESN phone - an expensive paperweight unless it was cheap and you want to use it as wifi only device. You might be able to flash it to some prepaid cdma carrier like boost mobile, But that is not trivial. and boost is also subsidiary of sprint, so if the phone is reported lost or stolen on sprint, not sure if it will be ok for boost, probably ok

If he got it internationally unlocked and followed a thread here he could use it for att and tmobile.... vzw won't let other carriers phones on their system just like sprint won't ... it can be flashed to cricket and a couple others but mostly I guess there is no way for him to get it unlocked because sprint has to do it and the phone has to be on a account in good standing etc

I highly doubt it. The least fuss way is to buy a phone for the carrier you plan on using it for. If it is possible, you'll get better network performance if you buy a phone for the specific carrier you're planning on using. I've seen this same question with so many phones over the years, it isn't even funny. You're not going to easily try and save a few bucks by thinking you can buy a phone for a different carrier and be able to easily port it over. You'll end up wasting lots of money for futile hopes. People think everything is interchangeable, it isn't.
