[Q] Need Support - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello , i have a question, i have an samsung galaxy s3, it is loaded with
googy max kernel 1.7.3
android 4.1.2
basebandver. i9300ceemg2
but recently it acts wierd
the phone de-charge pretty fast, even when connected to charger or usb device it decharge if phone is on,
on full charged battery you see it de-charge pretty fast like 1% every 10-15 mins,,
i can't charge the phone while its on i need to turn it off in order to charge the battery
what i have done sofar is
swap original charger to an other one
changed usb cable
resetted the kernel to stock
but none helped sofar,
could this be that the battery is broken? or that there is an process that takes alot power im not aware off? or is charging firmware related that the firmware encountered a bug ?

Could be a number of things causing your problem...I would suggest making sure you are on stock rom and kernel and install one of these apps >> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.asksven.betterbatterystats << PAID or >> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gsamlabs.bbm << FREE. You can monitor your phone to see if any app is draining your battery ( would give it at least 24hrs to test) then if it is a app you can uninstall or delete that app.
It sounds like to me it could be battery or hardware problem especially with you returning to stock and also discharging while plugged in..

Then you need to return to stock to see if the problem is still there if it is then most probably hardware issue.

Give it a try it nothing to lose and (don't forget to backup your data) use a battery stats software after you have reset. If the problem is still there and its not any apps that are causing you problems flash to stock to be 100% sure it's not software....

Wipe both (backup contacts and data first) but if it is draining that fast most likely hardware or battery (suggest new battery first)

Hard to say.
Could also be a hardware issue.
I recommend to flash back stock ROM with stock kernel.
Maybe you have to wipe data (do factory reset).
Then check again.
Good luck !

You've already done the extreme of reinstalling a stock ROM and performing a factory reset. I'm also assuming you didn't install a bunch of apps before the problem started, though.
My advice would be: go back to stock ROM again, factory reset, and SLOWLY reinstall your apps. This will help narrow down what app could be causing your issue. (if it is an app)
No bumping threads after 54 minutes. Not cool. People here aren't at your beck & call :-/

sorry for that ,but this site is my only hope
i tried ..i put the stock rom without any apps installed.but i had the same problems..by example when i want to delete a widget from the screen the phone stucks a few seconds, and the came to normal..the home button had the same delay and the proximity sensor works with the same delay, when i want to close a call ,stays a 5-10 seconds to light up the screen..i dont know, what is with him,i m disperate
..and what is strange,by example when is on charge ,the home delay dissapeared, works normally, but the rest of the problems remain
comeone..nobody knows anything about my problems with phone?
1.send it to Samsung for warranty.
2.get your money back from "friend".
I think i had similar problems with you previously, even worse maybe. Battery shows charging while cable is unplugged. Some of the time it pops up a warning message "Unstable Voltage". I did the same thing as you, flashing roms, wiping x " i forgot how many times", factory resetting X times and so on. What solved the problem for me was ;
-> i took out the battery
-> left phone untouched for several days
-> put the battery back -> charged till full
-> wipe data, factory reset, wipe battery stats, wipe cache, dalvik as well, FIX permissions
-> flash latest stock rom ( 4.0.4 at that time )
-> reboot phone
-> root again ( flashing stock rom loses root ) using CF-Root
-> reboot to CWM recovery
-> wipe data, factory reset, wipe cache, dalvik as well, FIX permissions
-> flash PA (Paranoidandroid ROM - please follow the instruction from OP post) via CWM
->wipe data, factory reset, wipe cache, FIX permissions
-> reboot phone
-> wait for apps updated and then reboot to recovery and FIX permission for the final time and VOILA!!
The phone works great up till this moment. Not sure if you gonna solve your issue with the way i did it but might worth the try. Nothing to lose anyway it seems as you were hardcore-ing flashing roms and wiping data and such. Good Luck!
Certainly that i hope this will be able to relieve you of the unnecessary distress.

i tried to do all things that you sayed to me,without to leave the phone with no battery several days..dand nothing happend, the problems persist ..i dont know ,i dont have a guarantee, and the cost may be high, thanks anyway

Your friend clearly sold you a dodgy phone. You should demand your money back and use the phone to beat him until he pays. That is my diagnosis and clearly the answer to your "problem".
today after wipe everything and flash de jelly bam rom ,custom kernel etc..doesnt work at all,but i removed the battery for 30 minutes, and when i put it back and openned it ,everything works very well..just a calibrate, and clearly now have no problems..how long it mentain,i dont know, but even now i dont know what it had .. mistery
so,what are you thinking, what is the cause?

Battery High Temp, Fast Discharging, Charging Error

I know there has been a million posts about this issue and I tried all the solutions. Different roms and kernels, factory resets, changing usb, battery calibrations through different methods all with no effect. In frustration I was ready to toss my s2 in the garbage but before I did I decided to try something else (links below) since I figured I had nothing to lose.
It works!! for me anyway. I removed the IC. Didn't replace just removed and my phone now works perfectly. Charges, doesnt overheat. I was reaching battery temps of 80C within a few minutes of turning the phone on before. It was even overheating while turned off! No more warnings or charging paused. So if you have nothing to lose and are ready to toss your S2 like me try this.

When I was on ICS my phone ran without any problems.
I can't really remember but I think I had installed an app and it started making my phone go crazy. So I went to AOKP JB 4.2.2 and started having the high heat problem again.
So I removed an app that I had Vault and set playstore to update over wifi only.
I put the Siyah kernel. I did flash a few other modems and I had the same problem. I flashed current modem and all is fine.
Wipe your cache and dalvik cache too.
Try downloading your modem file again.
All I can say is that my battery can now last 3days (in 2g mode no data) but when I do turn on data it does not suck my battery down in 15 minutes.
*I did click on HSDP option and then turned it back on and off and back on again.
1. I would start with a clean basic ROM. Don't just wipe but format everything 2 times.
2. try different modems (I think this is where the problem is)
3. new kernel or different kernel
This phone is working great now.

[Q] Continuous reboot on Xperia logo

Hello,
My Xperia Mini started to reboot continuously and the only way to stop it is to remove battery. I think this have something common with battery, because after this happened battery charges very slow (about 5% per hour) but when I plug the charge cable it works fine.
I tryed to flash another rom and kernel but this doesn't helped.
Before that happened it was another issue, when I was turning on the phone battery sometimes was showing 100% (after restart it was fine).
I have unlocked bootloader and root.
When this reboots started I was staying under the sun, can it be caused by overheat? Does anybody know how to solve this problem?
Thanks.
This continuous reboot is called bootloop. You may have installed an incompatible mod before or well, something just happened. This should not have anything in common with battery. Reflash your choice of rom then wipe dalvik cache. If still doesn't work, wipe data.

I already flashed another rom with kernel (inlcusive stock) and wiped dalvik cache, also made a hard reset and formatted the flash card but still no luck . I think is caused by bad battery becase when is plugged it works fine, it's like battery doesn't charge anymore (it doesn't get warm) and always shows 100%. I will try to replace it and say the result.

hi,
I had the same problem with my mini pro.... the problem was a faulty battery.... maybe its the same for you... (here I'm referring only to the 100% battery problem... not the bootloop)

If there is problem in battery then phone wont even boot to get in bootloop
& BTW GOOGLE is solution go there

[Solved] Battery % indicator stuck.

Hi,
I was using my phone as tether (usb).
I unplug my phone And some times later it shutdown showing 0% battery's boot screen. I know that was wrong.
So I plug in phone, reboot And immediatly see that phone show 20% charge. After 2 hours, phone remain at 20%
I use it all the Day And battery's indicator don't drop.
Battery stamina is the same as before.
Apps see it as "good"
I try to reflash previous And stock rom, Wipe dalvik And data.
Nothing change.
Phone remain with full life battery but at 20 %
So I don't know the real %
And I don't know if Quick charge drop or not. This May be dangerous.
Any idea / solution ?
Thanks to read
Try this,
Open up the phone app, and type *#*#7378423#*#* . You will get into the service menu. Go into Service Info -> Factory Charging. What % do you get?
Required level 50%
Present level 20%
Factory charging unfinished
Please connect the charger ( or Factory charging is going on, Please. Wait)
Sent from my E5823 using XDA-Developers Legacy app

how many sony telemtery services do you have disabled? diagnostics: sonymobile.devicemonitor and sonymobile.phoneusage give info to sonymobile.support and also to What's New and Lounge... when I had disabled permissions for support, i couldn't see any usage data until i opened Whats New and Lounge permission to storage and phone... this was when I was experimenting which apps i could disable without root and not cause the settings menu to crash
another thing to try is [Power + Vol Up] cache clear
When you flashed the Stock ROM again, did you leave (if you got one) the custom kernel on?
I would strongly suggest you completely flash the device anew with flashtool including the kernel.sin, even temporarily locking the bootloader. If it's still stuck then it's not a software problem and the battery controller might be wonky.

Yes I leave the custom kernel.
I had add a new battery, and all works fine now.
so I think this is the battery's controler that is dead .

Update to MIUI 9 to fix battery drain issues

I'm current using stock MIUI 8.5.8.0 ( locked bootloader) . I'm having battery issues ( drains 20-25% overnight ).
I wanted to know if updating to MIUI 9 would fix the issue.
If not then to what version shall I downgrade to because I started having this issue after I updated and I don't remember the version which did not have any battery issues.
It probably will, even a factory reset will fix your issue(I am assuming it is a software problem not battery issue).. But instead try to find the cause of your problem.. Use cpu spy to check whether ur phone is entering deep sleep or not.. if its not check which app is using battery from power use section in phone settings.. if u are unable to get useful data from that then i may suggest rooting ur phone and using wakelock detector(If you dont want to do that a factory reset will most probably fix ur issue..)

Factory reset didn't fix the issue . "android system" is at the top of power use and I did try wakelock detector ( granted BATTERY_STATS through adb ) . deviceidle_maint seemed to be on the top .But I don't know how to fix it .
I suggest to use 8.2.10.0. It has good battery backup.
Actually I cannot compare to 8.5.8.0 because I only use it for a couple of day and then I moved to Global Developer ROM.
Right now I used MIUI 9, and I think it has good battery backup too, but still better 8.2.10.0.
BTW, if you want to downgrade, you need to unlock your bootloader.
You can find tutorial from here or here
