[Q] WhatsApp battery consumption - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I recently got my HTC M8, brilliant phone and the battery is pretty good. However checking the power usage whatsapp seems to be consuming up to 25%. Is there any way that this could possibly be reduced? maybe by killing the app when not in use? any help would be appreciated.

Standby current and identifying problem processes.

Those of you using a battery app, what is your usual standby battery drain? I have been having some issues lately trying identify what's killing my battery on standby. I get pretty decent battery life using the device, but it seems to drain quickly on standby.
I am seeing 100ma+ with Wifi on, after turning all radios off and rebooting I can get it down to ~20ma or lower. It seems in the battery usage screen in settings that "Android OS" is using a lot of the battery, but it's hard to tell what actual service or process it is. Is there anyway to pinpoint the exact service or process munching the battery?
Thanks.
I'm no expert on this app, but Betterbatterystats might give you some useful information.

Thanks! That actually helped me narrow it down, it seems to be the "locationfriendservice" part of google maps, and a quick search indicated that this is a big problem for lots of folks.
It's possible I just had noticed it before when I was all stock, so I was thinking it was a result of a new kernel or something.
I have done what I can to mitigate the battery-hungry maps processes and will see tonight if I can retain better battery life (was losing like 10%+ in 6 hours on standby!).

Wakelock preventing deep sleep...any clues?

Hi,
I recently downloaded BetterBatteryStats to get an idea of what processes are running on my phone, and how I could potentially improve battery life. What I found this morning is that a wakelock is keeping my phone active for large amounts of the phone battery time (up to 60%...sometimes more). This seems to be preventing deep sleep, and perhaps better battery life.
I'm a newbie to Android, so please excuse this potentially ridiculous question....but could my push email (exchange using touchdown) be causing this wakelock? The actual wakelock is called PhoneWindowManger.mBroadcastWakeLock.
Any info would be most appreciated!
By the way....I'm running an SGS3 with stock ICS.

[SOLVED] Background Data - Flattens battery

Hi Peoples,
I have a Mini Pro SK17i the phone has been absolutely fine for 6 months or so but now the battery is flattening in a matter of hours. This appears to be being caused by the background data, I use y5 battery saver and I've noticed when I get home my internet connection is being rinsed by my phone which causes the battery to flatten very quickly. The phone is also getting hot in my pocket presumably as it's constantly transferring data.
Now I'm presuming this is a particular app that is causing this as it wasn't like this from new.........the only thing is I haven't installed anything for months but this problem has appeared!
I have tried installing Watchdog Lite but no apps are reporting as being bad.
Is there another way to find out what is causing the problem or do I just need to bite the bullet and rebuild my phone?
It's incredibly annoying that I have a phone that I can't use!
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
I think is a Battery Problem. Anyway, you should try installing a custom ROM, and if you can a custom kernel too. If battery still drains so fast, then it´s a battery broblem and you would need to buy a new one
Finally found the problem.............it seems K9 Mail had got itself in a knot about something and was using 100% CPU hence the battery dying real quick.

[Q] Tracking power hungry app

Hi all,
I am actually finding the jelly bean battery life pretty good now and its screen on time is great. However I believe there is an app of some sort starting up and causing the phone to stop sleeping. I have turned off Google Now and maps reporting location, and also used better battery stats (although still learning) and the stock battery stats and I can't seem to figure out what could be waking the device. I used to get 7 hours without losing a % today after about 3 I list 2%. Just would like to track it down and maximise the battery life of I can.
Thanks in advance,

[Q] Help resolve Battery Drain issues?

I am currently running an (Aosprom on my Galaxy S2) and the battery life when i installed the Rom was decent, however over time it has declined significantly and i can't find out why/how? :-\
The battery itself is an original SGS2 ( tested with an Volt/Amp meter and works well, so the battery itself is not at fault) . I always keep turned off GPS, the Cpu gov.is always set at Ondemand, i keep all wifi/3G turned off (95% of the time) and the screen is always set at AutoBrightness... (i'm a long time android user and know how to preserve the bat.life)
Like i said, i cant figure out what is drainig the bat.so much. Anyone have any ideas? Maybe some kind of an advanced battery app or idk? ...
I am fairly sure some app is to blame.
