What would a broken glass have anything to do with unlocking the bootloader? If so, then shame on you HTC.

My thoughts exactly. a second rep told me to go back s-on with the bootloader saying locked and I will have no issues having it repaired. He also said that the screen alone is never changed, It always includes the mainboard.

Wow really? I would call again and talk to someone else. That is BS. Developer edition has the advantage plan and comes with unlocked boot loader. I would point that out. If they say no, ask to speak to their manager.

You can lock your boot loader and to turn s-on on m7 is
fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
I don't know if this works on m8, try at your own risk or see if anyone else has tried it.

Just out of wonder, what was your scenario when you cracked your screen? Did you have a case? How high? Concrete?
Dot case , 3 feet and a 1/4 inch rubber floor over concrete. I can't believe it cracked. Its a one inch crack from the right side to the bottom of the screen. I probably dropped my m7 30 times in the year I owned it without a problem.

I believe there is a S-On feature in Hasoon2000's all in one tool that takes you back to S-On. When I was looking through all the features it has earlier today it seemed like it has everything you need to basically revert back to stock as if you never messed with the device. link to thread --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2699065

I seem to recall "re-lock bootloader" as being one of the many great features of the toolkit.
I used the toolkit and relocked the bootloader, went back to s-on. The phone still says tampered and relocked in the bootloader. The problem I'm running into is, I want to return the phone to AT&T store. I have clicked to reset the device from settings, as well as from the bootloader and the phone does not restore it just boots into teh bootloader showing tampered and relocked. I think this is because the know the AT&T rep will restore it and see it. Anyone know of a way to fix this?

Sounds like you didn't flash the stock recovery.
There is a guide on how to lock your boot loader without it saying relocked in the m8 forums.
You would need to soff, unlock boot loader, flash stock rom and recovery, boot into twrp "don't flash recovery" and root your phone, relock phone the proper way, remove tampered label, go back to s-on, use supersu to remove root, then factory restore.

I have the 32g AT&T version and I rooted it Friday night. Ran the AIO toolkit and didn't seem to have any issues. But I've noticed in Bootloader above where it says "Unlocked" it also says "Tampered". I have never seen or heard of that before so I don't know if it's normal or not. But I'm having other issues as well. Any backup I have made won't boot. Every single one says "MD5 mismatch". I've flashed a few ROMs and about half of the time any Rom I try won't boot. It just goes into bootloop. I always wipe and do everything as it's supposed to be done. I even had a few freeze my phone up in the middle of flashing. A fee time with AndRev 7.0 (in Aroma) and also with the AT&T specific ROMs. I don't know if I e done something wrong or what. Has anyone else had these kind of issues? Is the Bootloader saying "Tampered" normal? I only have a few days left of being able to return this for another one so I'd like to figure it out before that time runs out. When I am able to flash a Rom successfully they typically run pretty smooth. I just flashed TWRP from CWM to see if that's the culprit so I'm hoping that's it

Tampered and development is normal if you are unlocked. If you are new and don't know how to flash roms, don't blame developers.

Here's a quick rundown:
Unlocked is shown when you unlock your bootloader via HTCDev.
Tampered is shown when a nonstock boot.img is flashed. Thus, when rooting a nonsecure boot.img is flashed.
For those questioning flashing. ALL International ROMs can be flashed on ATT Ones. You can flash any ROM normally through your your custom recovery of choice. There is zero need for flashing a boot.img in fastboot as we are able to do so via HTVDev unlock.

Yes, but your bootloader will say relocked rather than locked.
install one of the stock odex roms found in our dev section.
using a root capable file manager like root explorer or ES file explorer in root mode
delete su binary from /system/xbin and SuperSU.apk or superuser.apk whichever one you're using from /system/app
install the stock bootloader found in the international forum in fastboot
also in fastboot relock the bootloader with fastboot oem relock command
This will give you a stock phone with the bootloader saying relocked. I'm unsure if tampered goes away.
This is the only method to restore back to stock until we get an RUU for the phone.
Once we have an RUU you just relock the bootloader in fastboot then run the RUU.
Is there any idea when we will get RUU?

Nope.
In the past there were leaks of current RUU's but HTC sealed them.
Sometimes, when there's an update, HTC will release the new RUU on their website.
Current;y I think the only official released RUU is the Dev edition one, which you can't use.
I'll just wait for the RUU to come out.

Yes, with the ES file manager. I got it to finally delete, or so it said, when I rebooted it was right there again, it's like it's possessed. I even tried to take care of it with terminal emulator, but that was a no go too. I have never seen anything like it.
Flash a kernel without write protection on /system. You'll be able to remove it then.
Ya, that would work wouldn't it. I'm not worried about it since this phone is mine, all mine and it is way a keeper. I don't mind it being there since I will have a use for it down the line. These other folks trying to get rid of it, just trying to help them out a bit. Probably shouldn't dive in head first if you plan on ditching the device, me I love this thing, my 3rd HTC. Still weird that it takes so much to delete it, but I guess I never really tried this hard before, it's just one of those why can't I do this moments that leads to hours of dang it, I will win, and come out knowing more than I did before.

Once I re-locked the bootloader the phone fails to boot. Everytime I restart the phone it enters BOOTLOADER mode... Tried several restarts with the same result... I had to Unlock the bootloader in order for phone to boot into rom... Any ideas on what may be causing this?
EDIT: Trying to go back to stock using AT&T Stock Rooted ODEX - 1.26.502.10 ROM found in the dev section.
We may be unable to run anything but the signed firmware with the bootloader relocked. I hadn't thought of that. If that's the case, until we get an Ruu, we can't go back to stock with bootloader relocked.

What if someone takes a dd dump of their stock system partition?
Could copy that to sdcard, boot twrp, use adb shell to write it back to system then fastboot to flash back to stock recovery, then re lock bootloader.

Can you boot into a rom as normal, or are you stuck at the bootloader screen?
If you're stuck at the bootloader screen, then I would find a way to unlock your bootloader (try HTCdev, hopefully it will still work) and then flash a recovery, a rom and then finally a kernel. You might need to run a stock RUU before you can re-unlock your bootloader.

Your bootloader needs to be unlocked to be able to flash a recovery; it must be locked to run a RUU. If you don't have the stock recovery on there then the only way I can see forward is unlocking with HTCdev.
If it's failing, you need to post some output as to why. Copy and paste the error text, or better yet, take a screenshot and post it here and people will be able to help you more.

Why are you wasting your time when you don't even understand the basics? This is another example of people that jump straight in without reading. Then expecting the community to clean there mess up......
For your bootloader to read "relocked" you must of unlocked and locked the bootloader atleast once. Why can't you remember how you did it?
Your best bet it to search your email for the unlock code HTC sent you the first time you unlocked the bootloader, download and flash it, then flash a custom rom.

Are u sure it's never been rooted with a custome recovery or did this happen while trying to root/soff? Because what ur saying doesn't add up. I had a similar problem awhile back while trying to flash a Rom. It kept failing over and over. On my last attempt the recovery crashed and somehow became corrupt. So I was stuck with hboot and had nowhere to go. I ended up fastbooting a new recovery & downgrading hboot to the one compatible with the only RUU available.
You need to downgrade the hboot and then RUU. Then you can moonshine.

The link ThayIO provided is basically what I did.
If you are unlocked the command is: fastboot flash recovery (drag & drop the recovery image into the command window) and press enter.

Sounds like you guys are screwed. Had the same issue and claimed warranty on the device. Until a new RUU leaks i think you are stuck having to go the JTAG route. I dont think theirs any other fix unfortunately
Flash stock hboot, then ruu

like i said i am unsure on the exact details. it just doesn't make sense that i can't use my bootloader and then my fastboot commands are pretty much useless.. if i only had a way to flash in a recovery or the stock hboot it would work
Your only option is to achieve s-off. You can't do anything in fastboot without it. Until then your SOL
