Has anyone been able to take their stock note 3 overseas and been able to use wifi calling?
If so, the address setup, was it an issue?
Thanks in advance.

I do believe it says it doesn't work overseas when you set it up but haven't done it ... says standard cdma rates apply

According to Sprint: http://newsroom.sprint.com/blogs/de...lable-for-samsung-galaxy-note-3-customers.htm
"Unlimited voice calling and messaging on Wi-Fi: All domestic calling and messaging is FREE (standard CDMA international rates apply for international calls)"
Those international rates vary by country but are quite expensive: http://shop2.sprint.com/assets/pdfs/en/support/guides/services/worldwide/Worldwide_eflyer.pdf
Yes i see if you are calling overseas.
But im wondering being abroad and calling the US as though you were here in the States.

I think they will be able to tell that you are not in the States and will charge international rates, but we won't know for sure until someone tries it. For myself, it works on my home networks but I haven't been able to get it activated on Denny's Wi-Fi, so calling on an international Wi-Fi might be even more challenging.
A VPN relay through the US should work too.
Sent from my SM-N900P using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I don't think sprint can charge you if you have international calling disabled. I have mine disabled and I can't even place call... this would be my arguing point in case of charge but no guarantee. Just in case disable your location / GPS and give it a shot with VPN. Place short call, wait 24h, login to sprint and check is there any charges

Just buy one more sim card for your device to make wi-fi calls. Local prepaid sim cards in every country you visit or MTXConnect data-only sim card for visiting Europe.

just a trick to make max allowed connection from 1 to 8 on gsm/umts network mode
make sure you get 3g network as this doesn't work over 2g connections
just make network mode and select network to automatic
and open mobile hotspot setting>manage devices>device limit
you 'll probably get 8 devices selections

umm....its not a trick, its built-in, in the OS.
Here in the US, the carriers (Sprint for the Photon) control everything about their phones and tethering is one of the features that is locked. They (all) want money from customers and hence force customers to buy a tethering plan.
Fortunately for us, rooting solves the problem.
Not to mention that Airtel will be reporting your data usage to Sprint as an international partner with them. That's the only reason you're even allowed on the Airtel network - because you have an active Sprint account.
You will be billed for data usage and airtime, at international rates without an international plan or a prepaid sim, you better believe that.

I appreciate your knowledge.
plz note that motorola photon's new update included 3G UMTS hotspot functionality for a single Wi-Fi enabled device .
release notes: www.motorola.com/staticfiles/Suppor...RN_Blur_Version.45.3.6.MB855.Sprint.en.US.pdf
so I got it working from one device to 8 devices after switching network mode to automatic.

Please explain how you are getting this for free and how this applies to us? If not Sprint (who provides access and billing to these technologies *outside the US* using the "native" sim card), then who is your gsm/umts provider?

It will not work on Sprint network nor wherever sprint coverage is available as on switching network mode to automatic it will connect to sprint network.
I am using it in india on airtel gsm sim card and "airtelgprs.com" apn for internet connection.Mobile hotspot's data connection is using my airtel's apn which is deducted from my gprs plan.I am using over 3 devices connected from my photon for a month now.
I am able to do this only after updating it to the new ota update available aka 198_6. In the updates release note mobile hotspot over 3g for 1 device has been revealed.you will get device limit as 1 on swiching network mode to gsm/umts. but when u make the network mode to automatic you 'll get device limit as 8 while you are still on 3g gsm network.

Hey guys,
I'm traveling to Greece for our honeymoon and want to be able to use my cell phone without paying Verizon's crazy international rates. I'm running Scott's CleanRom on Verizon. Can I simply buy a Vodafone prepaid Sim, pop it in, click add APN, add all the appropriate info for the access point, and then all good to go? I read imnuts post regarding this but am a little confused. Hopefully someone can help! Thanks in advance.

That is correct. I recently did this with a Telus prepaid SIM, and worked just fine. Granted, I was using Beans18, but your method should still be correct.
In Greece right now and did just that! I only had to add an apn for data use. Really loving that I can do that with this phone.

What provider did you get the sum from? Do they have a data only sim?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
I'm using my-q which apparently is now owned by wind. I'm not sure if they do. But with my particular prepaid service you can add Internet bundles online so technically you could just use the money you put on your sim to replenish your data instead of adding more minutes.

It won't work either for one of two reasons
First it works strictly thru tmobile SIM card , even tho you get tmo lte
Second the WiFi calling error means that you have to add update 911 address under your My T-Mobile account and then it works
I don't believe using a metro SIM In any tmo Device will get WiFi calling ever ,mainly cause it's alot to do with the tmo sim service the Main reachable service is still metro towers that's why .

I am wanting to set this up too. Metro PCS has good service in my area but they said they're having trouble with the GSM phones connecting to their 4G LTE network. T-Mobile's voice and text work great where I'm at and my brother is on Metro with one of their CDMA phones and his service works well. I literally just got my HTC One today and so far at my house I'm only getting 'G' which I assume is 1x or Edge service correct? When I reboot the phone and it initially connects to 4G and then drops it. I'm wondering if I take it to Metro and have them put it on their network if the 4G will work better? I wouldn't think it would impact it that much though. I have 30 days to try it out before I lose out on being able to return it and I'm all about saving money so switching to Metro is a big deal to me but I need my 4G too!

I'm no longer in Metropcs CDMA or Their Ericsson LTE network. I'm now on T-Mobile Gsm and LTE network under Nokia but with Metropcs Account. 2 different networks, so that means when you where on MetroPCS cdma and LTE you where on their original lte footprint with Ericsson lte sites, tmobile is planning to unite Metropcs lte with tmobile Nokia lte. But it will take some time.

Thats kool it is something you could have done setup from phone at home in 3 minutes tho...just sayin...
Glad it worked tho.
So to sum it up your saying you get actual tmobile WiFi calling with a actual metro 4g SIM card in a tMobile device ?
Not the same WiFi calling as my metro but I mean the tmobile exclusive WiFi calling .
That's very weird that that works using a metro SIM ..cause it's suppose to be a tmo sim cars thing also that has a lot to do with how it works .

Based on your "Stupid AirRave" comment, I'm guessing that are you looking for VOIP service for your N3?
Before you proceed, check the internet connection you plan to use to see if it's up to par.

If it passed then check out some options here:
