I am running Kaos Froyo 35-1. I have tried different options, but I can't find a nice widget that lets me add contacts to one of my screens where I can click the picture and it calls the number. It always brings up the options for text, phone call, and mostly their details.
The original HTC widget did this, and I checked out the Launcher Pro People widget..and nothing quite works.
I am doing this for my kids in case they need to call my family members and don't need a course in Eris development 101
Any suggestions or apps to try?
check out Scrollable Contact Widget.
its a two click option, shows pictures of your choice of contacts (starred or category), once you click the persons name it asks you call, text, email... you click one of those and it goes.
nice app, could be tweaked to work faster though. but the best one i've seen. It requires you use ADW or LP
I've never tried this particular widget, nor do I know the developer, but ran across this over at AndroidForums awhile ago, and your post reminded me of it. They do have a free version so you can try it out and see if you like it.
http://androidforums.com/application-announcements/116453-new-speed-dial-widget-sign.html
I use "Contact Widget". It's free on the market and works great.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/br.livroandroid.widget.contatos
I don't believe it works with facebook sync, but I don't use facebook sync at all anymore anyway. "SyncMyPix" (also free on the market) will grab all your facebook photos for existing contacts and add them to your google contacts. You can do this once and remove the app since all info is updated to the actual google contact. Or you can use it to update periodically.

You're looking for a shortcut, not a widget
Look under shortcuts, not widgets.

Very simple in Froyo. Find a blank space on your phone and long press. Choose custom shortcut - press "select activity" - scroll down and pick "DIRECT DIAL". Next choose the contact from the list that pops up with number you want and press it. It will then add a 1 click dial icon to the home screen with picture.
Be sure to pic the correct contact and number from the list. For example if your kid's phone has "Mom" as a contact with a home/work/ & cell number when the list pops up to choose from you will actually see 3 "moms" listed with the three different numbers.
Hi,
I started recently making my own themes as i found there isn't enough themes in my taste on themer/mycolorscreen application/launcher.
I have on question though. how do i change the text for unread email? It is connected to my gmail, ut even checking another box in the mail options i have no luck so far. So help me get an answer please. I watched all videos but i might have missed it somehow. (see screenshot for explaination (and yes i made it all red because I am not ready to share my work with the world just yet))
Love this launcher!

Changing unread email count from gmail to other email
As far as I'm aware, this CAN'T BE DONE! It's a limitation of Android, not Themer. Android links itself to your gmail account, and it will only report unread emails in that account, not any other. The two ways around this are:
(a) forward all your non-gmail messages to your gmail account by adding your hotmail/yahoo/whatever account to gmail (you can do this within gmail on your phone, or from your PC). This is the 'elegant' solution but it does mean that ALL your emails will be a the mercy of Google
or
(b) as you're building your own theme, just find the simplest widget you can for yahoo/hotmail/whoever, put the widget on your homescreen and use some clever masking (such as allow overlapping widgets??) to display only the numeric character. Not sure how you'd go about changing the font size.
You might want to look at Tesla Unread which displays unread emails on little badge icons, or browse xda's main Android forums for info on email count widgets.
BTW, I'm no expert so please don't ask me anything technical - I've just researched this problem before and I remember some of the replies I got from clever people.

Not exactly what i mean. this must be a limitation by themer as the word personal comes directly when i add "missed email". it simply says personal. even when changing the inbox/outbox/whateverbox of my gmail to anything else then the personal one it will not change the text and i can not change it elsewhere. i feel this is a themer issue and not from gmail as i can recall that with other themes it says email/ missed email

Hi mcwurth,
That's Themer Everything Widget right? When you add the Email item, it shows Personal by default. To remove it:
1. Select the Unread Email item (that one you added).
2. Tap the "Unread E-mails Style" option at the bottom - Select Unread E-mail Settings.
3. Scroll to the bottom - Deselect Show Label.
Alternatively you can use Themer Zooper Widget, which allows for much more flexibility. Hope this helps!

Introduction:
The purpose of this Xposed module is to change the layout of the Grindr cascade to a more flexible configuration of either 2, 3, 4 or 5 columns. You can also fake your current location for privacy purposes or to view profiles of guys in other cities.
A few years ago, Grindr decided to switch to a larger, 3-column thumbnail layout which made sense when phones had smaller displays. Phones these days often feature larger displays, so with this module you can change the layout to allow you to view more thumbnails on the screen at one time.
Please note that each release of GrindrMod is specifically tied to a particular range of versions of the Grindr app. Each release will be guaranteed to function only with the specified versions of Grindr.
This release is compatible with Grindr versions 3.0.10 - 3.24.5*
*Skipped version 3.24.4
This release is NOT compatible with any other versions of Grindr, including older ones!
Features:
Custom location picker with favorites
Optional persistent statusbar notification
Launcher icon
Selectable 2, 3, 4 or 5 column grid layout
Individual control over notification sounds
Instagram links now open directly in Instagram app, if installed
Retain chat history from blocked profiles
Option to show social media icons on the profile bar
Changed layout of the "send location" button to be of a more reasonable size
Send on SHIFT+ENTER in chat text field*
Optional GPS Accuracy overlay on cascade
Darken the bottom button bar in chat view
Double-tap to clear text field
Map overlay option on cascade**
Profile view history***
Option to re-crop current profile photo
Chats maintenance function****
Border highlight around cascade profiles of ALL active chats
Option to delete photos sent by other users (long tap the photo to delete)
Received photos indicator in the chat inbox if user has sent you photos
Undo the last cascade refresh by long-tapping on the center tab (Grindr mask)
Sort chats by favorited profiles (long-tap favorites icon WHILE in inbox view)
Chat search function (long-tap the inbox tab icon while viewing the chat inbox)
Filter inbox by online users (long-tap on the home tab while viewing the chat inbox)
Got rid of all nags requesting "high accuracy" location mode
Received photos indicator (camera icon) option for chat inbox (tap on icon to open received photos)
Option to set the minimum GPS accuracy level (i.e. use coarse location instead of fine location)
Backup and restore chats to Google Drive or local storage*****
Option to disable "Fresh Faces"
Option to replace "Fresh Faces" with Profile History (long-tap a profile to clear the history)
Option to disable sending Taps on single-tap (Prevent sending accidental taps)
Sort Cascade, Favorites or Explore page by online users
Unsend chat messages***** (Grindr 3.21.2 and up ONLY!)
Show distance in Inbox view (this can be disabled in module settings) (Grindr 3.23.0+)
Disable Explore tab (ONLY for version 3.23.0. Does NOT work on any other versions!!)
Long-tap social media icons to display username and copy to clipboard (Grindr 3.23.0+)
Sort inbox by distance for users who show their distance (Grindr 3.21.2+)
Filter inbox by users who have sent photos (Grindr 3.21.2+)
Disable automatic deletion of older chats (Grindr 3.24.1+)
Disable smooth scroll to top for chat inbox (Grindr 3.24.1+)
*For those who use keyboard gateways (i.e. WifiKeyboard) pressing SHIFT+ENTER will send that chat message eliminating the need to tap
the send button within the app itself.
**Tapping on the GPS Accuracy text will display your current location as an overlay in the upper-left corner of the cascade.
***Long-tapping on the favorites tab (star icon) will show a list of the last 20 profiles you have viewed. Long-tap again to return to the normal favorites view. If you view more profiles while in history mode (from the chat inbox tab, or cascade tab), pull once in history mode to refresh the profile history cascade. Long-tap on ANY one profile in profile history view to clear the history.
****Double-tap the chat inbox tab to bring up a dialog giving you the option to bulk-erase one-sided chats before a certain date. You can also clear ALL chats at once.
*****Chats backed up to Google Drive are saved in GrindrMod's private appData folder, and should be available on any device running GrindrMod and logged into the same Google Account. If your device has multiple Google Accounts, you will be prompted to select which account you would like to use for backups. Each backup is uniquely identified by the device's Android ID and the Grindr profile from which it came. Only ONE backup per device, per Grindr account is allowed. Each new backup will overwrite the previous backup for that device only! The only time you will see multiple entries in the backup list, is if you are using the same Grindr account on multiple devices. You may restore the chats from each device, as long as it is for the same Grindr account.
Restoring chats is always a non-destructive operation. No chats are ever deleted on the target device! You may delete the Google Drive backup by long-tapping on the backup entry in the restore list.
Please note that the backup files are automatically deleted from Google Drive once you uninstall GrindrMod.
*****Long-tap on a chat message to "unsend" it and replace the chat body with "<-->". This works for all types of messages (except for taps). For location messages (maps) you must click just outside of the map (to the left) in order to unsend. Also, the user MUST be online for unsend to work correctly. It will usually require at least two attempts to successfully unsend a message. An unsend attempt will be marked as successful upon the receiving of two successful "delivered" statuses.
NOTE: This module does NOT unlock any paid features!! It does NOT allow you to view more guys than what your subscription allows. It merely fits more profiles on the display at once by increasing the number of columns in the grid.
Works for both free Grindr and GrindrXtra.
NOTE: Please be sure that you check the build# found in each update post and that it corresponds to the build# of the version of Grindr you have installed. Often times a beta with the same version name will have a different build# than the final release and therefore will not work with this module!!
If you find my work useful, please consider donating by clicking on my donation link to the left!
Enjoy!
I welcome any and all suggestions for new features you would like to see in future versions.

This time I used filter of 3C Toolbox, I filter "indr" and "xposed"
The exact time of the crash is 17:18:30
Mine is crashing when accessing options too. Galaxy S7 Edge on marshmallow.
Fantastic!! Works great with no errors
UPDATE:
Download: GrindrMod 2.2.
CHANGELOG:
Completely redesigned layout
Added favorites for custom locations.
Fixed Instagram link to open Instagram app directly if installed (bypassing the browser).
Misc. bug fixes.
NOTES:
To delete a favorite from the list, simply long click the item.
This update *should* fix crashing on some devices. As usual, please report any bugs or suggestions for future versions.
2.2 now works on Galaxy S6 without crashing.
But I cannot figure out how to select a custom location before sending?
Also, Get Direction button is too small on received location. I can only read GET in it, and that is cut off too.
Now working perfect on Samsung Galaxy Note 5, congratulations

Hey everyone. A few weeks ago I bought a xiaomi phone (Redmi Note 4) running MIUI 8.1.6.0. One of the first things that I wanted to enable was the hide sensitive notification on lockscreen. What I mean is that when the device is locked you get a notification on the lockscreen and it shows the content of the message. For example If I received a WhatsApp of my dad it would show Whatsapp from dad: Buy bread. What I wanted was to hide that it was my dad and the content, so it would show 1 new whatsapp message. For some reason you can't do this from MIUI settings, but after browsing the deep web I found a way to do this, and MIUI does have this feature but it is hidden. What I found is that If you download the app called Floatify and acces the help section and click on “Disable native android notifications on lockscreen“ it shows a MIUI menu that lets you choose beetween: Show all notification content, Hide sensitive notification content and Don't show notifications at all. This is what I was looking for. This keeps on working when you unistall floatify so it is a miui setting for sure. MY REQUEST IS: Could anyone please create a simple app or shortcut to acces this settings? I think it would be easy cause you would just have to see how floatify does it and copy it. This is a very requested feature on the MIUI forum but xiaomi just tells you to disable notifications themselves, so many people would be grateful. Thanks. Contact: [email protected]
Hello there!
You could try if the desired settings menu is in the list of shortcuts in the QuickShortcutMaker app found here:
>QuickShortcutMaker<
Alternatively you could also try the Hidden Settings app:
>HiddenSettings<
Good luck!

Hey thanks bro it actually works.
How to hide hide contents of locked apps only? There is a guide, http://c.mi.com/thread-170007-1-0.html?mobile=2 although why this option is not present in note 4 MIUI 8.2 I don't understand. Any help?
This is already available on Redmi note 4 (MIUI 8.2.10.0). Have you tried Settings>system & Device>Notification and status bar>App notifications>whatsapp and switch off lock screen notifications. There will be no need to download third party app.
This is a tutorial on how to do that
If anyone is still looking on how to do that, I just did a tutorial step-by-step on how to hide the notification's content. Here's the link en.miui.com/thread-913531-1-1.html

I am using MIUI version 8.5.4.0. To hide sensitive notification,
GoTo Settings -> LockScreen & Password -> Advanced Settings -> On the lock screen, Choose "Hide sensitive notification content"

I had completely forgotten about that and since I upgraded it's been bugging me for weeks! Thank you!
Is there a way to show ONLY the sender for whatsapp notifications but not the content, like in the iphone 'hide sensitive info' option ?
The given options here work but I would like to know the sender for all messages to choose if I want to unlock the phone to see the message or not, depending on the sender.
1.Open settings
2.Open app lock
3.Open app lock setting(click on right corner icon)
4.Open hide content option
5. choose the apps
And enjoy

Are you the same guy who made the old grindrmod?
How this work?
It's good like "old" version?
So far works great, thanks! Is there anything new we should be aware of coming from the other version?
A couple of things :
- I do notice that not all profiles with chats have the orange border.
- would it be possible to add swipe across screens (I think previous version of app or mod had this)?
Thanks and great job!
Everytime it's opened, it can't get a location as 'I have no Internet connection' apparently, when obviously I have.

The mod introduced that far before the app did. One might argue that they took it and monetized it from @GrindrGuy. Does this mean that if the app starts mimicking other features introduced by the mod to monetize from them that the mod will just start taking them away? Nah, I'm against this move... You and GrindrGuy ultimately decide, but I wanted to share my two cents.

If you want to get "super technical" about it, this feature was introduced years ago in the original app but taken away around v3.0.
EDIT: Since I do not have Grindr Xtra, if someone would like to actually send me screenshots of what this feature looks like, I may be able to re-work it so that the module provides a similar feature that is not a direct replica of the paid feature.
I found a bug.
If i see a fresh face and hi back, module ask ne to "undo last refresh"

Oh, wow - didn't know that! Here I thought @GrindrGuy was the genius behind it!
Don't have Xtra, but something to bring back that function making it different enough might be to have a little circle with counter in it: currently app gives you a yellow circle with the number of new messages. You could play with that idea: just a yellow dot if there are viewed messages, or include the number (?).
Along the same lines, I have a suggestion: In my area you often get a few users who don't upload a photo and you just see the generic black profile pic with no user name. Would there be any harm / Would it be possible to give those profiles a random name (user1123) so as to know which user is which?
I'm still used to swiping left/right to switch between profiles and inbox. It's annoying you actually have to tap on those now. Dunno if you can revert that behavior.
Say you're chatting with someone and you want to go back to "nearby" view. you have to go back and then tap on "nearby". It might be interesting to have that navigation bar with nearby/inbox/favs persistant throughout the app, with it autohiding and showing back up when you scroll down. This way there's an easy way to always go back to home, and we also always see if there's a new message notification.
Another suggestion I had way back when was to further customize this navbar: for example, I'd love to order it to have first favs, then nearby, then inbox, and being able to swipe between the views. At this point it might also be nice to have the option of having the navbar either on the (new) bottom or (old) top.
Sorry for the long post! Thanks for your efforts, and it's also fun to think about UI design like this!

That's actually how the GrindrMod feature used to work, by "hijacking" the unread messages count to always display the yellow border regardless of whether the messages were unread or not.

That's a really good idea.

I'd rather not alter the UI to that extent since there may be some underlying reason for them changing it in the first place (one person suggested that the toolbar was moved to the bottom in order to encourage accidental clicks on the banner ads).

No problem. Thanks for the suggestions!
From today Grindr crash after some seconds, but no problem without the module.
How can I send a log?

Looks like the app attachment was removed from this thread? I'm running 3.24.x or something just so Grindrmod will work. I'm being told when I open Grindr that I can only use that version for two more days until it is mandatory that I update to the latest version. At which point grindrmod will not work.
So, I'm looking forward to an update =_=

Thanks! I didn't know it was a whole new app there. The links to it seem dead in the xda app with the xposed modules.
@GrindrGuyNYC, is it possible to amend the photo viewer activity (when tapping on a profile picture) to always show the Android soft-keys? Every time I tap on a profile photo to open it, I have to swipe up to show the soft-keys to go back. Starts getting annoying really fast. Thanks.
PS. GrindrMod isn't listed on Xposed module library when I check in Xposed Installer (I use the one by DVDAndroid). I had to go to the repo online to download and install manually.

I see it just fine in the official Xposed Installer.
@GrindrGuyNYC I'm on oreo 8.1 with systemless xposed.
The module won't show in notification bar even if I choose show always.
Another bug (on nougat too, with "standard" xposed) is if I swipe or open a new profile module ask me to undo last refresh.
