[Q] Installing ROM with latest Android version - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hi,
When I first got my Verizon Galaxy Note 2, I joined the bandwagon and unlocked my phone.
Now I want to upgrade it to the latest firmware ROM, but I was wondering how I would go about doing this.
Currently, my android version says its 4.1.1. Do I just download a firmware for 4.3 or 4.4 and it would work? Or do I need to update the firmware first? And what's the best way to go about doing this?
Also, if someone could also recommend a ROM that is stable I would really appreciate it.
I'm sure these questions are asked millions of times, but reading them didn't really help me understand... Maybe I'm just too new at this stuff. Thanks again for all your help!

If you want stock and unlocked ...read this thread. It has all you need to know. It has the firmware and ROM you need and good instructions. If you want custom...there are many out there.......

Thanks for the reply!
Just one question to clarify.. I would need to install the firmware first using odin, then install the deodex using the TWRP?

Yes, the firmware is needed to have working Wifi. Good luck!!

[Q] Want some information to start

Hello,
I've recently owned razr and I wanted to know some information before rooting/installing roms
- I'm confused about the bootloader as I've read that the bootloader must be unlocked to be able to install new roms however, I've read some guides for noobs where there was nothing written about bootloader.
- Is it possible to reinstate the warranty state ?
- My razr now is on ICS 4.0.4 can I install JB roms by the same way as ICS roms ?
I've searched for answers but I didn't get accurate ones so forgive me if those questions were answered before
Thanks in advance.
you can flash roms with locked bootloaders. just install recovery

Root it on ICS and use OTA root keeper on play store backup root before u do any update to Jb. For what I understand so far don't have any success JB root tools yet. And all the Dev working hard on it right now. Sorry for my bad English hope this well help you up.

I didn't mean official ones. ex CM Can I install it on another slot beside the stock (ICS) rom using safestrap ?
Also, would the warranty back if I deleted a rom that I've installed, back to the stock one and did a full unroot ?
For what I know when you start root your phone your warranty will gone. SS v3.11 for what I test out CM ROM can installs it on slot 1.it won't touch your stock ROM. For BMM you can install it on system 2/3/4/5 and so, you can active that slot at setting before you go in recovery and flash your custom ROM.

[Q] Root SCH-I605MSAVZW Samsung Galaxy Note II (Verizon), 16GB Developer Edition

Bought the Samsung Galaxy NoteĀ® II (Verizon), 16GB Developer Edition.
Wanted to keep my unlimited data plan.
It is already unlocked, what is the best way to root it.
Model number: SCHI605
Android version: 4.1.2
Baseband version: 1605VRAMA4
Hardware version: I605.06
Thank you.
I don't know of a standalone root app. In the past there was the exynos cpu exploit app but that was for an older Verizon rom. Of course you could flash a rooted stock ROM like beanstown106's either odex and deodex rooted stock ROMs. Or you could flash a custom rom with root.
The good thing about beanstown106's roms are that they don't affect the bootloader. They won't lock it some other stock rooted roms will.
Ridin' a Note 2 blast

You could try it and see, other than that the only thing is the exynos exploit.

Would I be able to return it to its original state, if there is a problem?

If you have the original firmware I would say yes, there is even a possibility that you could use the alternative or root66 firmware, Roms, to get back to stock.
The S3 Dev edition had no problem getting back to stock using our Roms or even using any of our Roms and radios even though it's stock firmware was different. Im oretty sure the only thing that'd happen though is it would say process failed, it shouldn't mess your phone up.

This purchase may have been a mistake. what good is an unlocked bootloader, if there is no way to root without flashing?
I am contemplating returning it and taking the restocking fee hit.

New Question - How do I upgrade to 4.2.2 Firmware on Rogers HTC One?

I'm on 4.1.2 currently - Stock - But haven't received the OTA update yet. (My carrier hasn't pushed it yet, sounds like its still a month away)
Is it worth unlocking the bootloader, putting a custom recovery on and flashing a 4.2.2 rom? (Android Revolution as I want the stock experience) Just for the updates 4.2.2 brings?
I've used 4.2.2 on other phones I have (Xperia ZL Stock and Nexus 4 running PA 3.5) so I'm aware of what the stock upgrades are, but what does 4.2.2 bring to the HTC One over 4.1.2? Any improvements?
I want to try Android Revolution but have been hesitant on doing so - I have a Rogers Canada version of the HTC One LTE (Same as AT&T). Am I able to flash International roms like Android Revolution on my phone and maintain LTE?
I am S-ON, but I understand Most roms still use the Stock Kernel correct? So how would I go from 4.1.2 Stock rom to 4.2.2 Android Revolution as far as flashing? Do I need flash the boot.img first? (Doing it with S-ON is what I'm implying, yes I know there are S-OFF methods currently)
Update: I'm now S-OFF, Rooted, Unlocked Bootloader and on Stock 4.1.2 Rogers ROM.
NEW QUESTION
See Post #8
4.2 bring some improvements like native eqs and lockscreen widgets all you need to remember is 4.2 changes the file structure so it is best to backup and wipe before going to it all you need to do is follow the op for arhd and you will be alright

And you only need to flash the rom you don't need a boot.img at all

Thanks for the confidence haha.
I unlocked bootloader, Flashed CWM Touch and S-OFF'd using the Revone method.
I didn't realize S-Off was so easy.
Rooted as well.
I work very early (5am) so will try flashing rom tomorrow.
Is there anyway of upgrading the firmware from Rogers to the newest UL? Any help here would be appreciated.

I think there's a file in the firmware you can edit but I just changed my cid to HTC__001 and changed it back afterwards

What about the one having Stock Rom (Not Rooted) ? My CID is Roger_001 and currently running 4.1. But I haven't received OTA on my Phone yet. Does this make any difference if the phone is being used in other country ?

Android 4.3 Unlock Bootloader?

Hi all,
I looked around and it seems to me there is currently no way to unlock the bootloader on the Verizon Note 2 w/ 4.3 Jellybean installed. I have my phone rooted, but I would really like to install CM. Do any of you know if we're getting closer to a method to unlock the bootloader? Is there already one? Will we never get one? Just an update is all I'm looking for. Really appreciate all answers. Thanks a lot!

Actually, that downgrades your phone to a version that still has the unlockable bootloader, it doesn't unlock the 4.3 bootloader. Granted, that the end point is essentially the same, it is a different methodology.
My actual bootloader version is I605VRALJB (4.11). I unlocked long ago with Adams original method...pre Casual...lol. So being able to go back to the 4.12 bootloader would be a good thing for people stuck on 4.3 and locked bootloader. It would allow the flashing of ROMs and custom recovery...the end goal...as you mentioned, but ...true it is not a 4.3 bootloader unlock....lol

Check it out, they can do it and what a great job they do. I just got mine back from then and it was on 4.3 OTA with locked bootloader. Now I'm on 4.1.2 and unlocked bootloader. Just flashed kitkat and TWRP . Josh will treat you right.

You will not be able to flash a recovery. Only people with the old MDK boot loader can.

My recommendation to you mate is that you root using the desktop version of king root, replace it with SuperSU, install flash fire beta, then install Strang5Litre ROM. Probably one of the best most stable Roms (and the only one out there at the moment) Everything you need is in the general section
