Please help my brothers in my (lenovo) device :( - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys ......
My device is Lenovo A208T running by Android 2.3.5 .... the problem is have sparate letters in Arabic I used this method ( framework.jar takes care of shaping texts in android on all texts except Gmail and the browser, while libwebcore.so takes care of shaping texts in the default Browser and Gmail app. This patcher will attempt to get you Arabic support in both of these files.
This should work with all Android phones sporting Android Froyo or Gingerbread with the exception of MIUI ROMs as they are closed source and I can’t work with that. )
I apply this patch for this file (framework.jar) and when I Put file output/framework.jar in my phone at /system/framework the superuser says root browser need root permission to replace when I select allow the device automatically restart it self until this moment please help me for god sake :crying::crying::crying:

[MOD] Full Arabic Support on Nexus One - (Update Feb 14 - ERE27 & ERE36B Success)

UPDATE Feb 14: And because its FEB 14, here is the updated Arabic files that should work on ERE 27 and CM5 Beta 5 (and hopefully future releases as well): http://arabicandroid.googlecode.com/files/update_nexus_mt_signed_ERE27.zip
I can also confirm that it works on ERE36B as well.
Thanks Ayman.
Note: mirror is also available on my site.
UPDATE Feb 4: <IMPORTANT> Please don't update for the moment if you have moved to the new Google update!
I can confirm that the update file is no longer working, please don't install it if you have updated your phone with the recent update from Google. Your phone will freeze while booting up at the Nexus logo.
The only solution for now is the half solution which I wrote about a while back. Its only about replacing the font and getting the Arabic letters unconnected.
Please visit this link: http://dumpytips.blogspot.com/2009/09/easier-fix-for-half-solution.html
There are instructions in there on how to install the font via an update file, or through the adb commands if you wish.
UPDATE Jan 22: Newer update file in links below.
UPDATE Jan 21: Thanks to Ayman, we can now read Arabic virtualy everywhere in Android 2.0 or N1 in our case via a newly introduced library file. I tested it in Gmail, SMS and Browser, its working perfectly (in Gmail, email titles are not OK though). Ayman, you deserve a medal.
I have updated the image file with Ayman's recent updates. Please see below for the download link. Everything else remains the same.
Jan 20 original post:
Hi All,
This is a different approach to enabling Arabic on the N1 in the browser and the gmail client by utilizing a signed image file I created for this purpose.
Your phone has to be unlocked and rooted. You also have to install the custom recovery image for the N1. You don't have to download the SDK.
After that you need to flash my update.zip file and you will have all the necessary files on your phone to view Arabic correctly.
If you constantly try different cooked firmwares this file will help you quickly restore the Arabic settings. Just flash it immediately after you flash any modified firmware based on 2.0 or 2.1
The contents of the image is only two files: one font file, and the excellent libwebcore.so created by Ayman (Link: http://code.google.com/p/arabicandroid)
Without this file you will not see connected Arabic letters on your phone. So big thanks goes to Dr.Dev for his work
You can download the image file from my blog article on the same topic:
http://dumpytips.blogspot.com/2010/01/arabic-on-nexus-one-almost-complete.html
Hint1: For unlocking and rooting the N1 visit this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=612858
Hint2: For installing the custom recovery image visit this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611829
Below are the modified commands to install the recovery image based on the file you download from the link above (in Hint1). You don't have to download the SDK at all.
Code:
Copy recovery-RA-nexus-v1.5.3.img to a location where fastboot can find it.
Boot your phone into fastboot mode (power on while holding the trackball)
Connect your phone via usb to your pc/mac/...
fastboot-windows devices (to make sure that fastboot "sees" your phone)
fastboot-windows flash recovery recovery-RA-nexus-v1.5.3.img
Cheers,
-Gus
Thanx abunch mate !! Sounds great ! I have been waiting for someone to come up with this
I flashed it and IT WORKS very well
Nice work !
Thanks Weees.
Please download the new image it has Ayman's recent updates.
Ghassan,
Thanks for putting all these files together. and thanks for your nice words.
I'll upload your file into the project's page.
Regards,
Ayman Alsanad.
Hi Ayman,
My pleasure.
A few points:
1) I used the libwebcore.so.android2.0 and not the recent one (libwebcore.so.android2.1) because Arabic in the Gmail client was not displayed correctly (reversed actually) with the recent file (though SMS and Browser were OK)
2) I tested with libskiagl.so and without it, the results were the same. I noticed the file was there in the original android distribution and that you included it, so I have re-added the file.
3) Email titles while in the list of emails in the Gmail client, is still showing incorrect Arabic in both files: libwebcore.so.android2.0 & libwebcore.so.android2.1
Keep up the good work.
Thanks,
-Gus
Hi Ayman,
I noticed you have update the file again. I can confirm its working (the reveresed Arabic is still there in the Gmail client). Thank you for your dedication to this project.
To all,
Please check Ayman's site for the latest zip file. I will only keep a mirror on my blog. All credit to him. Links in the first post above.
Thanks,
-Gus
Hello everyone and thanks for the effort you are putting behind the project.
Before I root my device, does it support Persian as well as Arabic? I mean do you only included Arabic fonts in your project?
Thanks
I can include a persian font for you in an update file. But I'm not sure about the libraries. Anyway isn't it similar to Arabic? There is no harm in rooting I guess you can afterall download apps that do require root like the excellent N1 Torch.
Try the image file and tell us what happen, then we can see how to help. Always take a nandroid backup first so you can go back if required.
-Gus
Right to Left
Thank you for the update file. It is great. Right-to-left seems to be supported only in the browser, not SMS, right?

@alishankiti
In the Browser and the Gmail client Arabic is RtL. SMS is stil LtR at the moment.
This is very impressive, thanks Ayman and Ghassan.
What's next? Calendar? In the agenda mode, it's Arabic, in other modes it's "reversed".
Can we edit a file(s) to Arabize the system settings and menu strings?
Is there any reason why Google shouldn't include this in the next update, 2.2 / FroYo? It's really a shame that we have to root and void warranty just to arabize Android.
--
Just an extra tip for users on additional arabization, I've tried morelocale2 from the market, which allows setting locale such as ar/SA. This will get the time and date on the status bar in Arabic, gets the news and weather widget in Arabic, and a few other things here and there, such as filenames.

Hey There....
I just flashed the latest v4 update and its working well, except for the Email subjects in Gmail.....the letters are messed up. But its no big deal !! This is still a major milestone
Thanks to you and Ayman for cooking this up !! Great work guys !
@tamarian,
I'm sorry I'm not aware of any files to customize the menu settings. I remember on the G1, when I used to change the locale, I would see some items in Arabic just like morelocale2 (maybe more stuff). As I said earlier as well, root is good for installing hacks and apps that wouldn't be possible without it. Like Nexus One Torch, and now the recent multitouch hack on the stock browser from Cyanogen.
@Weees,
The email subjects are actually reversed. But as you said its a major milestone anyway to get Arabic in the body of the email

MyTouch 3g
Hi, i have a rooted myTouch3g running Manups Eclair 2.1. im wondering if this will work since im running Android 2.1
Update: I just went ahead and tried it, and its working, thank you soo much
Thank you guys. I really appreciate your efforts.
Just a heads up, if you installed the new N1 update (ER27) + superboot, flashing update_ar4 will not work, I had to NAND restore. Waiting for an update or instructions from our android gurus.
true, i think the webcore is not compatible with the new update thats why the phone refuses to boot up u have to restore from back up or reflash the system
I have the updated fonts for this, but is there source available for the rest? I'll merge it into CM if you'd like.
Would be great cyanogen!

Android uses your storage card. To go back to wimo you have restart you device.
When you want to update android: Download the files and over write the existing files.
Once installed Android, I can enter to Android, and Restart my device, I can go to my Windows mobile , So I want to Android again, How can I do? Need to install Andriod again????
does this work on the NEON?
Boot manager
I think there should be a boot manager.
ther IS a bootmanger:

Kernel Panic...
I had a kernel panic during the haret booting. then said..."Rebooting in 3 seconds..." then it freezed. Help.
@nik2208:
Do you have linux or programming experiences?
@rhombus:
I did not test it on the neon, just on my nike 20keys, you could try it and let me know.
@ebautista:
Do you use the zimage in my package? Try using another zimage, maybe the latest on the vogue project page works.
For the data connection i found that ppp is not invoked because i get an error that says that only root can run /bin/pppd, so maybe the data connection does not work becase pppd is not invoked, i will make some tries to check that.
@m0rph3us
both
Very good, i am working on the data problem, first of all pppd had permission problems so i fixed that, pppd is now called but it fail when it tries to create a pid file becase it says that the filesystems is read only... do you have icq or msn so we can se what we can do next?
@12432
i think this time is different: the installing procedure tells that the process is going to overwrite the rom..
the old android version used the storage card like a guest..not this one..
@12432:
Dont choose to install it on the nand, choose sdcard partition or image files... Android will be installed on the sdcard and winmo remains on the nand.
You did a great job man, got it running on my HTC Nike, and it performs better than other android ports ( looking to speed and connectivity ). The only downsides at the moment, is that i can't activate XT9 dictionary while writing a message, and the camera functionality ( every port had this for as far I know, so can't blaim you ).
So my question to you is, do you know any way to enable (Dutch) XT9 on this rom? I got the device running on Dutch language now, but in the dictionary-settings, there are no known words, whatsoever. Since I don't know if there is any way to browse my storage card ( didn't see any explorer or anything ), i can't install it like a cab or anything.
Would be cool if i could get it running, would make it a wonderfull android port
I have an old android 1.5 with data working, it can help you for the data on 2.1 ?

Ok guys, big step foward, i am connected succesfully to the internet, but dns does not work, this means:
- If i open the browser and type www.google.com no page is displayed
- If i open the browser and type the ip-adress of www.googl.com, the page is displayed
so there is just a little dns problem, maybe tomorrow i am able to solve it, even the 3g icon on the top is not displayed...
why am I not able to install the os?
after the choice "install" the procedure starts formatting..
then, and after a lot, a message tells
"can't umount /data: invalid arguments" and goes back to initial choice list..
After installation process when you are back in the list choose fix permissions, then back In the list choose quit than wait...after a few minutes Android. Should start

[Q] Working Ad-Hoc for Gingerbread 2.3.4 - is it possible that nobody can solve it?!

Dear friends,
I have searched tens of forums and googled requested for a days,
but I didn't have chance that find any answer
And it seems that nobody speak so much about that problem here,
people are in race for newer and newer firmwares,
is it possible that nobody can't find the way to solve that problem and succeed to modify wpa_supplicant to work on new Gingerbread 2.3.4?
I can't belive that I have 500€ phone witout possibility to use ad-hoc WiFi at my home
Download this file - http://www.mediafire.com/?ap3alfyf2asu1ca
Disable the wifi...Copy-paste the file in system/bin using root explorer... reboot the phone...done, your phone running KG1 can connect to ad-hoc networks
oops.. i just tried on KG1. Didn't connect to an adhoc network setup with WEP.
I even set the properties of the file like:-
owner: Root Group: shell along with proper file permissions.
Still no working.
Huh, god knows, maybe it depends of type of installed ROM.
Galaxy S2, Lightning ROM 2.2, rooted, exchanged downloaded wpa-supplicant with original without changing any owner properties using Root Explorer and Mount R/W and R/O option,
and - it works, after reboot, sure.
I heard that gingerbread 2.3.x does not support ad-hoc wifi but froyo 2.2.x supports it!!!!
There is a file in the sticky thread. wtf it works fine. Im using it on M250S - 2.3.4
delete the file first ,than paste the new file back ,reboot
guys, is there any conclusion from this thread? i'm getting desperate too

This is the conslusion-
Use this file- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15773095&postcount=44
Working on stock KG3, Litening(all versions),Villain(all versions), others i didn't test...
I tested using Bzeek wifi hotspot creator on windows Vista, if you can't connect to WEP, try Bzeek, its open network but password is needed to use it
I have the LG Optimus 3D and I wanted to use my old WinMo phone as an ad-hoc server. I searched a lot and finally found the solution:
First of all you need a rooted device.
Go to Market and install "ZT-180 Adhoc Switcher". Run this program everytime you want to connect to ad-hoc.
The device acting as server needs to have its SSID to "AndroidTether" and require no password.
Don't forget to revert back to "infrastructure" mode after ending your session otherwise you won't be able to connect to normal hotspots.
There is no guarantee that this will work on all devices. Just try and see...

2. Please post the link for rooting.
3. After rooting, install the GApp, version for 4.2.2? And then we can go for anything, like Nova launcher?

When the phone reboot, after you renamed the file, gapps are automatically installed by the phone.. You don't have to use recovery mode at all !!
And for now, i'm not sure that CWM is available for this model... I think i saw it on a chinese forum but when i translate it's too messy and i have to be registered on this forum to download it so... we have to wait that someone make a post here in english with th e CWM in download...

Okay, I see the point, we just install portions of Google apps we need, starting with play store, the any thing you need.
I do hope we'll have CWM, or at least hardware ways to boot into download and recovery mode.

We'll get Kikat firmware on this phone for sure, we just have to wait from Huawei to rolling out this version.
It's not portions of google apps as when you do this procedure i explained, ALL the gapps are installed automatically on the phone.
Basically, Huawei made a script in the phone for not allowing these apps to be installed, but when you rename this file, the script is no longer available, then all the gapps are installing after the next reboot !

The only deference is the directory:
/ cust / channel / charm_china_l / xml / ( charm_china_l not charm_china_u)
and i use the command as su
mount -o rw,remount -t rootfs /cust
because when It try to rename the UNSTALL_APK.XML I take the error "Read-only file system"

X1 undetectable by the PC
I have GApps Syncing quite fine without rooting, except the contacts sync which is missing from the sync list. I see your steps are very straight forward, but unfortunately my X1 is not recognized by the PC, although I've installed HiSuite from Huawei website. I've also tried to install Huawei device driver for X1 from this site, but still unrecognized. Accordingly GeniusRoot is unable to detect and root my X1.
I'm Win 8.1 (both 32 and 64 bits), and I've tried to do all these procedures with Compatibility model for Win7, run as administrator, yet the X1 is till not detected by the PC.
Also USB Debugging is enabled in Developer Options.
Any idea what's the reason for this?

A file explorer that supports the administration ROOT rights (root explorer, es file explorer , etc. . ) Available on Google Play Store
There is nothing very complicated , just follow the tutorial :
Open your file explorer supporting the rights adminstration ROOT
Go to the following folder
/ cust / channel / charm_china_u / xml /
You will find the file UNSTALL_APK.XML
Rename it to : UNSTALL_APK.XML.OLD
This is done !
Restarting the Huawei Honor Mediapad/Honor X1 , applications will be automatically downloaded and installed on the phone and you will have access to all Google services including synchronization of contacts !
*
WARNING: by doing this manipulation, future updates will no longer be compatible with the device and you will have to rename the file UNSTALL_APK.XML.OLD to UNSTALL_APK.XML to update the device. Otherwise, you can make a copy of the original file that you can keep safe somewhere on your phone or computeur.
If anything goes wrong that's your entire responsability !

I can't delete the file as well the error says unstall_apk.xml cannot be deleted

OK I managed to figure out the solution
Used Root File Manager to rename and voila!! Renamed the file, restart device and got all the Google stuff setup on the phone
Now there is this second problem which is a big pain in the arse
I can't add a second Google account on the phone to get all my contacts..........
Under settings -> accounts -> add account -- there is no option to select "Google" !!!!
Have anyone also face this problem and is there any solution??
Thanks in advance for the help
Guys, you do not need root or tricks to install Google stuff.
Open the Huawei app market. Search for Google. Click on the big Google banner at the top of the page. You get a dedicated page of Google stuff. There you have download links for play store, all the Google apps, and if you can figure out a little Chinese, calendar sync and contact sync software too.

I can confirm this is true. I did a search for "gms" rather than Google - tap on the big link you get at the top of the results page, which takes you to a page of all the Google apps and services, and install everything! (You can always uninstall what you don't need later). No root required, and everything is syncing properly - calendar, contacts, tasks etc. Super easy.

Have you got Google Contacts Sync in your list of downloaded apps?

Danny here's how to fix it, and u don't need root
if u have rooted and edited the unstall_apk.xml, best is download and flash the stock ROM first:
http://consumer.huawei.com/cn/support/downloads/detail/index.htm?id=20241 (click 立即下载 on the right)
u can also ignore it but all preinstalled google apps will become system apps, and if u've deleted some huawei bloatware u might not be able to OTA update latest B006 firmware
All the Google stuff can work perfectly even can add multiple Google accounts. Best thing is, u don't need root. Here's how:
1) Go to app centre - all - brand and look for the one with 谷歌 (sorry I've updated app centre and it might be different if u haven't update)
2) Download 联系人同步服务, 日历同步服务, Google Playstore, Gmail and Google plus. The rest can be downloaded from playstore
3) After install, open either playstore or gmail and sign in
At this stage, Google is already setup properly with contacts sync just it cannot add multiple Google accounts. Workaround:
4) Open Google plus. Settings - add account
And voila. The phone is perfect now
There's also an OTA update for the LTE version which updates your phone firmware to 7D-503LV100R001C233B006
Cool new features includes double tap screen on, some control over notification flash light for messages and background battery optimization :good:

BootLoop after changing fonts with Fontmanager - on a Android 4.4.2 THL 5000 device!

Hi!
I live in a unacessible part of Brazil, here the internet speed is up to 5-10kb/s... Very slow!!
Yesterday I tried to fix a problem with the system-fonts, because my device never displayed de emojis on the notification-bar, on instragram-profiles, on sms-chats and etc.
I have rooted my Thl 5000 with the Kingoroot apk, so I was able to change system files if I would like it.
With the apk Fontmanager, from the same developer as RomTools and etc, I made a backup of the fonts before changing something. I have them on the SD cart.
The problem now is that:
After trying to fix the problem of the missing emojis with the Fontmanager installing new fonts and rebooting the phone there was no sucess, the emojis still were displayed as a little box.. I thought a while and then I copied the fonts from another device where the emojis were being displayed correctly, deleted my original fonts and pasted those fonts from the other device into the "Fonts-folder" ... Okay... allright until here... :crying:
Then I rebooted my phone, because I thought that it would install the new fonts then...
when it booted there was and is a BootLoop. Oh No!
What can I do?
I haven´t an good enough internet to download the 450mb big original Rom an needrom.com... Nowhere in the city here the internet makes it possible..
Flashtools I have already downloaded. But is there any way to paste the backuped Fonts-folder into the system-folder of an device that is stuck in bootloop without much knowhow?
I would be very, very, thankful for every help and advice I could get from you and this community!
Thank you! I won´t change a systemfile without the knowhow again..
Chris
