camera===your sd is full????? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i flashed my a13 tablet t730 mainboard all things goes right but i can't take a photo with the camera it said your sd card is full???
any help or idea

What did you flash?
Sorry, have to ask... IS the SD card full?
Does your camera app have Settings to change storage options?
Did whatever you flash edit the mounting of internal / external storage?

the sd is not full
the camera hasn't any option for storage
and i didn't edit any thing when i flash it it's an .img by livsuite

Odd. Haven't seen a device that wouldn't let you save pictures to external, if it supports them. Have you tried another camera app to see if it is the app or it's something odd with the rom? Also, clear the data and cache of the Camera and Gallery apps in Settings > Applications > All and see if that makes any difference.

i did all the things u told and more ...the thing is that this rom is not the orginal one my tablet is 8g and when i flash this rom via livsuite i checked my internal storage it's only 4g is there away that i can manag the internal storage??

Depends on the device and what you put on it, but might make more sense to use another rom or the original one because most likely all the issues are linked.

Internal Storage Question

From what I understand, the 8GB of internal storage on the DX2 is divided into 2GB for apps, 4.3GB free to do whatever with, and the rest for Android. Right now out the 4.3GB of free storage I have ~800MB unused, which implies I've used 3.5GB. However, when I connect my phone to my PC and scan the contents of that 4.3GB of free storage, it shows that there is only 2.2GB of data on there. Where is the remaining 1.3GB and is there any way I can access/delete it to free up space?
I thought around 2gb was set aside for application storage.
I have no idea how much stuff u have on ur internal storage but u may want to move storage for pictures and.music to external storage..u can just move music files and the DCIM folder to external sd card and reboot which should free up some space...also try clearing cache from stock recovery to see what that frees up if u have never done that...
also in camera app settings to make ur pics store directly to sd card there is a setting for that so u don't have to manually move them...
Hy Drippis Welcome to the forums,
First off let me say if you want to solve a problem with your phone if you follow what ashclepdia says you'll never go wrong he has a great deal of knowledge on these phone's.
Second I never liked this type of labeling system for the storage on this phone.
Third a short explanation of the storage on our phone's.
Our phone has the following, according to VZW and Moto:
- 8GB of internal storage. This breaks down as 2 GB secure memory and 6 GB of usable memory.
- 8GB of external storage which refers to the removable SD card behind the battery.
In the 2 GB lives the Android system files and installed applications with most of their associated data. Some programs are accustomed to using the "sd card" which I will get back to in a minute. You can look at the status of this 2 GB in 2 different ways: 1. Settings - Storage - Application storage, "Available Space"; 2. Settings - Applications - Storage Use - All - Application Storage (on the bottom of the screen).
The 6 GB can be viewed by: 1. Settings - Storage - Internal Storage; 2. Settings - Applications - Storage Use - Media Area.
When you move things to the Media area, you are taking a portion of the installed app from the 2GB and moving it to the 6GB, which is similar to the way in tho older phones, you moved apps to the SD card. So, the question is why do we move apps to the SD card? In older phones there was far less "internal storage" and you would literally run low on memory for apps. New phones have much more space, so unless you are installing lots and lots of apps, it shouldn't be a problem.
With our phone, they have included internal, hard wired, SD Card-like storage, which can be used, mounted/unmounted, just like an external SD Card. The Media Area is simply a folder on this remaining 6 GB area. In some cases, this is automatically done by some apps, for backup purposes or caches.
Hope this is of some value 2u..

These aren't the droids you're looking for.
Thanks for the responses. Although informative, they didn't answer my primary question so let me clarify. Not enough storage isn't the problem. I've already set up and moved all my pictures, movies, music, etc. to my 32 GB external sd card. My issue lies with the 4.3 GB of free-to-do-as-you-please storage on the internal sd card.
Out of this 4.3 GB
I've used 2.2 GB
And it says I have .8 GB free
Which leaves 1.3 GB missing
I guess I'll boot into recovery and wipe cache to see if that does much.
Not sure if this matters with regard to this issue, but I had been running P3's pre-rooted GB since I got this phone and earlier this week I flashed Eclipse 1.3 (loving it). I did wipe data before applying the zip.

I CAN say that if u are running 1.3 eclipse on p3s GB u are on the wrong kernel and that may cause some problems ...
not sure if that's what's causing this issue for u or not. .
also when on eclipse the sdcard and internal storage are flip flopped. to see what space u have on internal storage go to settings>storage>sdcard....that is ur internal storage space when on eclipse....
bootstrap does not recognize that flip tho fyi....
my first recommendations is getting on the 2.3.4 kernel by sbf to 2.3.4
if u flashed 1.3 over p3droids rooted gb then u are still on 2.3.3 kernel ..
which can cause issues...since any eclipse 1.0 or later needs u to have the 2.3.4 kernel...only way to change kernel is sbf or OTA update.
there is a sticky on how to sbf in this forum...don't be intimidated...it is very simple...follow instructions ...
edit::: how bout a screenshot of ur storage setting screen and also ur about.phone screen.((screen shot er (or er2) from market works just fine))
Look in a file manager and see if you have a file named ".trash-1000" or something similar. If you are viewing your files on a PC, it will be a hidden folder. See if you have any files in there. When you delete something it creates a .trash folder and keeps it on your storage device like the recycle bin does on your PC. I think its supposed to "empty" itself but may not have. If you have files on there, you can just delete the whole .trash folder. Just a thought.

[Q] Completly wipe phone...

How do I Completly whipe my phone? I've cleared the cache, and done a factory reset, i've re-flashed with Odin to the stock rom, and yet, when I reboot, and go look under "My Files" , there is still crap there from before ( Most notably, 4 or 5 diffrent folders for Go Locker, Go STore.. etc ).
How do i clean this thing out for a 100% restart?
are the things your seeing on an external SD card?
No. The Directories are ( And i'm ommitting quite a few here, just to give you the idea ).
Android
Application
bluetooth
camera360
...
...
DCIM
external_sd
...
...
...
etc ad nausium..
So since i have the external_sd mount there in the middle, this must be the internal right? WHen I select the external_sd directory, that does contain my external card, and that's fine. I expected that to have stuff on it since i've not formatted it yet.
My DCIM dir still has all the pictures etc in it as well.... ( which I would not have expected since I did a factory wipe, yet there they are too ).
Any idea?

He's saying he wants to wipe his internal SD because it has all his app data from previous ROMs/installations (such as stock). He's probably going to a new ROM and wants maximum storage space and getting rid of all the leftover trash.
Exactly. Just want to make sure the wipe is complete or previous issues will just haunt me.
Look in those folders they should be empty.....The phone creates the folders upon turning on (by factory),,those are the essential folders needed...check it out let us know...they should be empty
They all have stuff in them, and many are not from the os. GoLocker, GoLauncher, etc all have dir's there with data in them, all some , those in particular, i don't have loaded. I've not re-loaded anything yet.
Try going here; Settings > Storage > Format USB Storage
Thats the ticket Thank you.
Or in cwm recovery, go to mounts and storage, and format sdcard

Can doing this cause any unwanted and/or unexpected problems?
Nope. It just wipes sdcard storage, like you just took it out of the box

I think I'm confused about erasing external sdcard storage and/or internal storage.
"Formatting USB Storage" is which one of these?
And which storage location can you get yourself into trouble with "wiping/formatting?
Maybe neither?
Thank you!
Neither as far as I could tell. I did both. The SD Card is just that, your external memory card. The USB is the "user" storage on the phone, so nothing critical there either. Wipe away safely
Neither as mentioned. As long as youre doing it do from the storage settings from within the stock rom's menus. It only wipes your user data on the external sd and internal storage, if you chose to do so. You may lose any programs installed/moved to sd card also.
Going into CWM youre opening yourself a whole 'nother can of worms. I highly do not recommend going this route if you are not 100% sure of what youre doing. You can seriously render your device useless, aka brick (a term used too lightly).

Incorrect.
All you could do in cwm is wipe the os.. In which case just button combo into recovery and flash a ROM.
A Brick is missing or corrupted bootloaders. you cannot format bootloaders in cwm.
And avoiding something because it could be dangerous...instead of taking the maybe 5 minutes to understand what's happening add ya know, actually learn something is just not in the spirit of xda AT ALL.
Read. learn. Try. Share.

[Q] Incorrect storage data.

Hey
my phone (running CM9) thinks that I have 0.90gb free out of 11.36 of total storage space.
I actually have about 7Gb. ( I can see it: apps+pictures+downloads+audio)
something is wrong...
anybody has any idea how to fix?
thanks!
READ THE FAQ's on the ROM's thread....
this is standard on CM9 and AOKP. go to storage under system settings, tap the menu button and change the storage configuration to "use internal storage".
I know I dont care for this either. It also causes issues will some apps that look for a standard file system, and are unaware of the /emmc folder. But I find both CM9 and AOKP ROM's far superior to others, so I just put up with it
Thanks dude but the thing is that it's already on "use internal storage" but yet the issue persists....
Plug phone into PC. Backup all data to PC. Format SD card. Put data back on. Profit. Well at least it seems to have helped some. I don't use external SD cards but I've read this fix has worked.

Hey dude.
I don't use the external sd card.
the problem is in my internal memory
K. Same solution, using internal storage. Take everything u want to keep (pics and vids) off then wipe that thing clean.

problem
i have a similar question, my i777 send me the error: E: can't mount /emmc/ , and that happens when i try to enter to the internal sd, not load my OS, also not work the reinstall os, i also install the previews os version same issue, use cwm 5.0.2.3 and that is the only way i'm able to access the recovery-

Can't do squat w/out SD card inserted!

I have an issue that may be caused by an upgrade that occurred before I bought the phone on ebay.
When I got the phone I think it was on the latest RUU and stock ICS rom.
I've flashed a lot of roms however I almost never took out the mini SD card, and since I have taken it out before several roms ago I've noticed this problem: I can't save screenshots or cam shots unless I have the external mini SD in!
If it matters I'm on 4.2.1/wildstang kernal 3.0.16
You need to change where the camera stores pictures. The setting should be in the camera app.
But, storing pictures on the internal memory can be risky. Flashing can wipe your memory.
yeah just change where the camera stores pictures, it should be on the camera settings
i don't see where this location setting is. This also doesn't solve my problem: I can't function without having a mini SD card in the phone at all times? Seriously? What if I downloaded an app?
I'm gonna try a few tests actually and see what happens.
Well your OP just mentioned pictures and screenshots.
Please tell us the ROM you are running.

What exactly is your issue.
What if you downloaded an app? What does that mean? It would go to your internal SD, mine don't go on my external when downloaded. Aren't you trying to use the phone without an external SD?
Why would you not have an sd card anyway? If you're running any AOSP based rom, it becomes the default storage.
You can swap the storage around in /etc/vold.fstab so that the internal storage is marked /sdcard if you're using an AOSP rom.

camera

anyone know how to get the pictures to go to the ext sdcard, all my pics go to the internal card, and i can't find a setting in camera app to change it.or at least i can't find it??
cm10-forgot to mention that.
I think the only way is to use the SD card swap. Of course that will make everything save to the SD card by default, which might not be what you want.

Well it's no big deal to to move them. they move ok to ext sd. but i could of sworn there was a setting for that in camera, unless i'm thinking of a different phone or rom or whatever.
edit: i see in the next update an update for the configuration of storage in camera, so?
For me, Camera Settings - Storage - Storage Card stores all the pictures onto the external card, running stock, albeit rooted, ROM.
