Like the title says, hows ElementalX treating your AT&T M8? I am considering installing for the undervolting option, but I'd like to hear from people already using it. Do you notice any differences? If so what are they?

I installed the kernel with stock options, no undervolting, just sweep-to-sleep. I haven't had it long enough to comment on the battery life but I have about 1.5 hours of screen time right now and I am at 60%, also have been unplugged for 9 hours...so quite a while on standby as well. I'm thinking the battery life will be close to on-par with stock kernel at this rate.
I really like the sweep feature, and also GFX on games are more smooth for sure. Not that they weren't already but I notice a small difference. Thought about undervolting in the future, but as the maker of the kernel states, you don't really need to overclock this device, its already super snappy

How is this possible lol? I would love to know how you're getting 2.5 Hours screen on time and 18 hours off charger. Do you mean 2.5 hours awake? or Screen on?
By the time I reached 3 hours screen time, even with the stock kernel, I was getting down to the end of my battery

Yes definitely - I guess I should ask if you're doing anything special? What ROM you're running etc. I got 3 hrs 15 minutes of screen time and 18 hours off charger last night and I was sitting at 8%. Granted I play games throughout the day so without that I would probably be getting somewhere closer to 4 hours screen time, but still that doesn't even touch the rate you're going which would be roughly 10 hours of screen time on a full 100% to 0% charge

Stock Everything. Unlocked Bootloader Via HTC Dev. Rooted. Twrp Recovery. Xposed Framework w/ Sense 6 Toolbox. I run battery saver setting on at all times because I have no need for full processing power and data should always sleep while the phone is sleeping IMO. But I leave Haptic on and don't have it auto reduce brightness.
Last I had charged My phone to 100% on thursday night. Unplugged and did not plug back in until Monday night. That's the most I have gotten so far. Right now I'm at 34.5 hours since charging with 56% charge left and roughly 3.25 to 2.5 hours of screen on. I don't plan on having charging until tomorrow evening, but i still have my mophie external just in case.

Ah, I think that might do the trick there...I have my screen on full brightness, data is on at all times, and I click off power-saver when it comes on because it makes my screen dark lol...I think those differences right there would settle the confusion on my part!
Thanks for sharing, I know if I ever get in a bind where I won't have a charger for a few days, I'll use the Pure+ Method haha

Lol. Sound great to me! You can always change the power saver setting to not reduce brightness and not reduce processing power. Then it will just sleep data connection and some background data. That could increase your usage by a couple hours most likely.
im happy with it.
i beleive i flashed it to over clock 2.7 (Cant remember)
37hrs of battery life right now at 28% remaining with 4.5 hours of screen on time

In terms of screen time I'm only getting around 2.5 hours on 30% brightness. I hardly use data, have background data turned off, no overclock. And this is on a full charge
Oh and I'm on the virtuous ROM for gsm evos.
Also I've been using CPU spy and I am getting around 88% of the time deep sleep.
Possibly a defective battery? :/

if only 2.5 hours then yeh definfinately might be a bad battery
i was only getting around 5 hours max on my stock battery and only solved my issue by getting an extended batttery(yeh it makes your phone big and stuff blah blah but it lasts me about 23hours now)
im not sure how to check for a bad battery
i would try to borrow a friend's battery if you have access to that

use overclocking....and a good kernel
i am using cleanROM 1.3 with silverneedle kernel. my phone says 1d 6h 26s on battery and battery is at 45 percent. data is on and i did pandora for about an hour last night. overclocking also sets your clock rate DOWN when your phone isn't doing anything. i tried cleanROM 2.0 and noticed an immediate increase in battery use, so i switched back to 1.3. gonna stick with a day and a half per battery charge and a quadrant score of 2600...... not the best but WAY better than stock and killer battery life

1d 6h, plus 45% left?
you really must not use your phone, like at all
using the phone requires the screen to be on (normally),and screen will not stay on for a day. It can sleep for a couple days though yeah
I'm also getting about 2.5 hours of screen-on time with a full charge on a completely stock evo 3d, not rooted, no s-off, no custom rom...
If I'm on wifi all day(and I mean 100%), I usually get 4 hrs of display time. If I'm just on the network, I get around 5 hrs. I'm rooted but I'm running the stock odexed ota.

Try this, the virtuous version. It will help with the battery life. But you need to be rooted and it should work fine on gsm.

Does he really have to? look at the little blue bar under the graph, it shows the phone was "awake" for quiet a bit of the time, BUT, he did charge it, the little green bars show when it is charging... PLUS, you can see where the graph actually raises, batteries don't/won't charge themselves. I had a friend do some trickery with an inductive charger, the phone wont see its charging, so it reports no charging, but PLENTY of battery, lol...

All that really means is that the phone is in constant use with the display on...not sleeping. I get that all the time when I'm using my phone pretty much from fully charged to almost 0%. Nothing out of the ordinary

heres a few screenshots from the last few days with various type of usage im just wondering if im seeing normal battery life
ive noticed that when im just texting for a bit or doing something else for a few min each percent seems to drop off pretty fast..i dont know if its because my last phone was in the 10 percent increments and im not use to it or if i have something draining my battery faster then it should
firstly this is what i have my brightness set to at all times dont know if its better to leave it this low or put it on auto..i dont like it to bright right now cause i have some eye issues
so the following 3 are with very light usage for the most part except for when i first woke up, sorry for the ringer toggle on the last didnt think there was a need to retake it
and these were taken earlier into the day but because it seemed like i was draining it faster and i would say this was moderate usage
if any other details are needed to really see if theres an issue please let me know and i will post
It looks fine for stock... Nothing out of the ordinary... Getting 13 hours and having 60 percent left is pretty good if you ask me... I have found that the phone will use the battery fast if I'm using it... But when it's idle it barely uses any battery which is fine with me...
Coming from a day one thunderbolt on 4g in its infancy where I would get 5 hours idle if I didn't use the phone... HTC has come a long way in 2 years

You have to remember that the screen is the biggest power draw. The more it runs teh more drained.
Also the more apps working in the background dont help. battery savers, loggers etc infact use more battery....

yea i think thats the lowest i can do on brightness without ruining the display all together at night when i use it in the dark alot and hit autobrightness it doesnt really change so thats really my sweet spot for light..other hours of the day i think auto would make it higher than what i have it set at
i disabled alot of apps today..i dont really have anything auto syncing only thing i have consistently going is push email
I've noticed that this phones battery lasts a long time as long as you are not playing games or watching videos. I have been browsing the Web and texting all day and I am still around 60%

Can you (or anyone else) figure out why the Kernel and Android system is using so much power?
Mine are both consistently around 21-23% battery usage, while the screen is doing 9-11% battery usage, with 3.5 hours screen on time.
Amazing screen!
If screen power usage is so low, the battery should be able to go for way longer than the 15-16 hours of usage I see.

I was always rom'd with CM, and it never made it to Night, like I said I got 4 Hours TOPS.
Truthfully, Touchwiz makes me want to puke.
I got my S4 yesterday, took it home and rooted it and charged it to 100%. Took it off, put about 2 straight hrs of screen time on it setting it up, messing around, benchmarking it, etc and was only down to 74%. That would mean almost 8 hours of screen time and heavy usage, which is pretty damn impressive for such a powerful device with such a great screen.

Today is my first day with the phone. It was 100% at 11pm yesterday and it dropped to 95% by 5:30am....not bad. Been using it all day at work reading emails, reading reddit, surfing some websites and it's down to 44% (it's 4pm now). It's had about 3 hours screen time too.
So far the battery life is much better than my old galaxy nexus.

This is a welcome change from the Galaxy Nexus. I'm usually charging it by 3pm on a workday. it's almost 5 and i have 35% left (that's after multiple reboots during the rooting process too)
I am at 1d 3h 8m 42s and 22% remaining.
3hrs of screen time.
45min of voice calls.
I have used it to take some pictures, check email, read some articles, and do facebook. I am rooted and have all bloat frozen.
I am very pleased with this battery life and cannot wait for AOSP roms.
I even made my TWRP backup in this charge.
This battery life is insane! I love this phone!
0.94% discharge per hour overnight after root. As good as my S3 now!
Here is a light usage, fully stock not rooted or anything. I have the CPU battery saver on because i notice like 0 performance difference. texted a bit, ebayed, facebooked and a couple other things mostly wifi, bluetooth and location services are on.
I was more pleased with the charger than anything, half hour adds like 30 to 40 percent last time I checked, which is awesome for how big the battery is in comparison with the s3, only drawback is that it doesn't charge very quickly on any charger but the one that comes with it and my car charger. So at work I don't even bother plugging in.
I couldn't stand how laggy my S4 was, so I rooted it and removed the bloatware ( and my God, was there a lot) and now, not only is it WAY snappier, but the battery life is unreal.
I am very pleased with battery life

Awesome first charge.. plugged in Friday when I got it and just now 38 hours later I'm plugging it in. 4.5 hours of screen on at 85 percent brightness.. here and there browsing.. some photos.. gps enabled turn by turn a couple times.. SIRIUSXM for 4 hours at least.. fell asleep both Friday and Saturday night listening to Art Bell.. so at least 4 hours. Outlook checking mail every couple hours. Tested a few games for probably a total of an hour maybe. This is about average use for me. I would say this bests my note2 and that's a lot to say. Will it get better after a few more cycles? This phone is a keeper... loving the knock on/off feature and I'm getting really used to the buttons on the back.
Good stuff man....lower that brightness a little and turn on autobrightness and you'd be getting even better battery life. Doesnt the constant 85% hurt your eyes?
That's awesome. Battery life was a big reason I picked up this phone, and it has yet to disappoint. I'm on Verizon, so probably couldn't get the Nexus 5, but even if I could I'd probably go with the G2 for the battery. I like a nice bright screen as well
I took the attached a couple if days ago. GPS off, mobile location on, 65% brightness baseline with auto on. Mostly web browsing, with about an hour of talk time, and 3 hours of audio playing via Bluetooth. The battery really is fantastic.
However, there is something that can get stuck and prevent deep sleep causing excessive idle drain. Its happened to me twice now. A reboot clears it up, but I haven't tracked down the culprit yet to prevent it entirely.
Anyhoo, pics below.

Ive found 3 culprits for idle drain thus far:
*backup* - disable backup/ restore in global settings
Nlpwakelock - disable wifi/cell gps assist in global settings, and history anf reporting in Maps
CarrierIQ - disable it as per instructed in the carrier IQ thread

Yes it's the 3a. I think i could get more SOT without gaming.
From full charge to zero, I could get about 10hrs of screentime consecutively browsing, but that's not how I use my phone. In 48hrs of 'normal usage' I get about 5hrs of screentime.
I do about 3-6 hours of BT audio streaming daily which is why there is a larger than normal screen off usage. Still nice average SOT. I have so many sessions because I try to keep my battery between 50 and 80% for longevity.
I get 8 good hours.
What does Android 10 Battery say? Screen usage since full charge? Also Full charge lasts about???
Mine says 1 day 11 hours of typical usage. I always charge at night so it has rarely if ever run out.

Worse, on the best day you can get 6.5-7 hours on the regular. On the XL it's possible to get 9-10
I got my pixel 3a a couple weeks ago and struggling the last week or so getting more than 3.5 or 4 hrs SOT. I did use GPS for a 2 hour drive home today but it's 3p and I'm down to 10%. Idunno what's going on.
Here is the other day :/

the app usage of 66% is a clue. maybe you got some crazy app eating up battery. if you have bluetooth and/or wifi scanning on continuously that can drain a bit. gsam can be setup to show which app is using most by doing the adb command. just select apps for the details if you have not already.

Check out the second screenshot in that link. I've setup this via adb and had that included originally but probably wasn't obvious

Here we are after factory reset and flashing the latest OTA from
https://developers.google.com/android/images
Still can't hit 4 hrs SOT. Not once. I really don't know what to do at this point. Incredibly frustrating with everyone else on this thread having MUCH better results.
GSAM is showing some pretty beefy wakelocks on that "RemoteSoundTriggerDetection" and "*alarm*", ActivityManager-Sleep, etc.
I bought it from Best Buy. Should I go up there and see if they'll replace (highly doubt it) ? Maybe flash a custom kernel?
screen on time is a function of what a person normally does with a phone. one way to get high screen on time is you could set display intensity to 25% and timeout to 30 min. if you need that number to be higher. just let the screen be on as much as possible. when you first got it did you fully charge it then fully discharge it then fully charge again? screen on time is about the last metric i ever think about. i don't understand at all why it's so important. i'd be willing to bet some users set intensity to 20% and time out to 30 min or always on and do very little else then they get s.o.t. of 8-9 hrs or higher and think it's great when it's a joke. that's the way i look at it anyway.

Not sure if you're replying to me but I'll answer anyway. Yes I fully charged it then fully discharged it then fully charged again when I first got it.
It's not the SOT that is so worrisome but the constant Android system and kernel drain on my device.
I'm getting worse battery life on my 6 week old 3a than my 2.5 yo OnePlus 5 which wasn't good to begin with. This device was lauded for having excellent battery life and I'm not seeing it.

It isn't that at all. I found using it for anything where the phone needs to utilize the GPU a lot, like gaming, drains battery substantially. "Light" workloads, like web browsing, using social media apps, streaming video, etc give you really good battery life. Once I start up a game, I see about 5-6 hrs compared to 9.5 hrs if I just stream YouTube, check the XDA app, email, Reddit, etc.
