So guys i bought a samsung galaxy s3 i9300(it says) but it has 2 gb ram and i'm worried which one it is because i want to update and root it. any help will be much appreciated. Also i cant send a long sms which is very annoying
Thanks
Either a 9300 rom was flashed on a 9305 phone or the phone is some kind of odd fake. What does the sticker under the battery say?
Tapped with Tapatalk on my GT-I9300 running rooted and debloated stock 4.3.
i think sticker is on the back of lcd panel and i recently replaced it (it broke) everything seems to be fine except wifi signal strength. Camera quality is as it should be. once i went to the shop for a flip cover and i9300 cover did not fit and he told me that it is a Korean set.
Oh. Then i have no idea
Tapped with Tapatalk on my GT-I9300 running rooted and debloated stock 4.3.
Have you any idea how to update it to 4.3 (currently on 4.1.2)? I checked for updates through mobile and it says your mobile device is up to date.
Unfortunately no, if it is a Korean variant i don't know which firmware is for you

Lol,it's as strange as the HTC One which my friend just got.
Believe me or not, that HTC One has touchwiz in software department, red hardware buttons,5 mp camera.
I lol'd.
Sounds like a Chinese counterfeit (both the s3 and the one). Where did you buy it? Did it sound too cheap?

Just open the back cover of the phone and capture a picture of it and post it. It'll be more easier for everybody to tell which variant it is.

Go to Google Play, search for "phone INFO samsung" - it wil tell you model, imei, ROM version, CSC and few other details (including, presumably, if it is a fake or not).
Ok guys I found out My model its SHV-E210L. Its 4G LTE but is it International? I mean can the service be used anywhere? And also if i install stock 4.3 rom will it be in Korean?
Thanks
There is a thread in general for your model, you can't use i9300 firmwares.

Going by the feedback available on this forum, maybe only 2-5% of S2 owners had this problem.
guys, I need more replies, there are many phones which have it, how can it be 5%?
Mine have it but i think its not an issue since most of device with the latest screen development have it

Is is possible to flash a NOTE 2 rom in the galaxy S3?
NO
considering how long you have been on xda (longer than me) you shouldn't even ask this question.

Flash Note 2 ROMs on a Note 2 and SGS III ROMs on an SGS III.
People have been getting into trouble flashing ROMs made for the international Galaxy S III on their American/Canadian Galaxy S III's, so no, flashing a Note ROM on an SGS is going to be very painful and cause damage.

Yeah ofcourse its possible. Just that you might brick your device permanently and make it completely unusable.

Chuck Norris can even flash Note 2 ROMs to iPhones!
Yes it can be done but here is what you need:
Note 2 ROM
Odin (mobile Odin is fine)
USB jig
Samsung repair centre number
Bin bag to throw your phone in
plenty of tissues to wipe the tears
Hope that helps

a 42mp camera... the 8mp sensor just vanished into thin air and pureview
replaced it... why was i even waiting... in the morning after playong with symbian
on my galaxy s3 i plan to install iOs6 to see what it's all about !?!?!
:silly:
K now this is going to be one funny thread to watch for replies
《swagged from aokp》
and i did it... i used super glue in recovery to merge the ios and android... this is frankenstein rom rc 0.9beta... i need testers and a counter to show me the number of devices i bricked... a dream come true !!!!

i take no responsibility what so ever if your phone does not burn, melt and teleport to moon... you will succeed those stuff if you are really persistent in flashing imaginary rom a 100 times over and smacking your phone on the floor real hard...

On a serious note, no pun intended. The feature i'd like ported to the S3 is the split screen multi-tasking. It should allow you to do more things at the same time. The problem for the S3 with this feature though is the 1GB of RAM, but the I9305 solves that.

Heres a vid of it in action.
Chuck Norris can, not only unbrick iPhone into concrete-not-brickable Galaxy S3 , but can symbianize Windows 7 into androidlike icecream sandwich with jelly beans inside covered with gingerbread crumbs.
Hello all.
My friend has one of the first prototypes made by Samsung, apparently there was only 100 of these beauties made. Its actually quicker than mine on benches and yet it looks identical.
Anyway, the problem is that they can not get data when I flash a custom ROM, WiFi is fine, calls and texts are fine but data is a no go, and for whatever reason it defaults to virgin mobile? (I have no idea)
I have entered the right APN for t mobile. I've tested the sim in other phones and it works fine, does anyone know what it could be? I've even tried different radios with no joy.
For whatever reason paranoid android works perfectly.
I know its a prototype phone but its also her personal phone too.
Any help would be appreciated.
I don't have the phone with me but whatever info you need I can get you.
Cheers

The solution would be to sell the prototype and buy ten regular S3s

I can't make out the text on their image. I have replaced mine a few times and had trouble with a Rev 2.3 board - if I recall, there were problems with the speaker and signal reception was very bad. My original was a Rev 2.2 and when I got one of those everything worked perfectly.

Ah but I still love my S2
Had serious thoughts about sticking with it, but the siren call of the S4 was too strong!
Do contact the vendor. This is a key question in whether the part is actually compatible with the phone - the model number is insufficient - so if they know their stuff they should help.

My sister currently owns the S4 zoom and would like to use the Galaxy Gear with it but it is still running Android 4.2.2. I'm looking to root the Zoom to Android 4.3, preferably a slim rom, so that it can be compatible with the Galaxy Gear since Samsung has not released an official update or estimated time frame either. I've been researching how to root the Zoom as well as what roms are currently available and apparently support for the Zoom is very little.
Has anyone tried a rom that allows compatibility with the Zoom yet?
the s4 zoom is a phone with no market or future.
there are no developers to work on that phone.
I think it's a shame that the zoom has no future as it's a great device, albeit quite niche. Here's hoping that Samsung do eventually update to 4.3 so it will be compatible with the gear.

I agree it is quite a shame, I have the S4 and use the Gear and my sister really wants to use the Gear with her Zoom. I think the Zoom is a awesome device. It's designed for a very niche market and it seems like that market is being neglected. Samsung did mention when 4.3 was released that it would be coming to many of the Galaxy devices and the Zoom was included in that list, but there's no info on when to expect it.
With kitkat confirmed for the Zoom C105 does that mean Galaxy Gear will now work with the Zoom S4?
I see the latest firmware 4.2.2 has gear manager app on the system. Does this not work then?

What instructions did you follow? The ones from the Gear itself on the startup screen?
Did you connect via NFC and the phone automatically went to the Samsung app store to download Gear Manager??
Just followed the instructions in the gear booklet. Turn on nfc and blue tooth on your phone. Touch the gear cradle to the back of the phone and just followed the on screen instructions.
Just read the the booklet and all will be fine

Thanks for replying, I saw your post in the other thread too.
This sounds good, can't wait to get hold of the S4 zoom now... I just hope that I like the shape and feel of it!
If your into photography you'll love it. I had a note1 which seems massive compared now. But got used to the Zoom s4 very quickly. And with the gear, you don't have to keep pulling your phone out of your pocket to see what the alert was.

Great tip I was waiting patiently for 4.4 as I had no idea it would work on 4.2.2. Thanks a lot!
Doesn't seem to be much reason to upgrade the s4 zoom to the k zoom now the gear works with it.
