Well excuse me if this is in the wrong section. But this problem is present in every phone with kikat. The during call dialer is horrible. I can't search for contacts and I can't remove a number! How is everyone fine with this, also is there any workaround...
While in a call push the home button. Call is moved to notification pull down and you can do what you want with you're phone.

I downloaded dialer one from the market. no lag, EVER. and no silent call issue.
Can you have dialer one set up so when you press the phone button it comes up and just have dialer one be default

OK my droidx there was a phone icon in the recent call log and I believe the address book that I could tap to call the person. With the gs3 I have to open up the contact first and then hit the call button. Anyway to make it call directly from the contact list?

swiping to the right on the contact will call , to the left will open messaging.
I'm pretty sure this is on by default... if not you will have to enable it.
Oh fantastic that works great. Is there a post with other such tricks?

Nice find, thanks!
It pauses for about 1-2 seconds which is a little annoying - seems slow, but it's definitely better than clicking everywhere!
Is there any way to get the ICS dialer on here? (rather than using something like Go Dialer)
Looking for a sms app that can allow to Quick Compose a text from any screen. Handcent has the feature, but doesn't work with ICS Phones since the search button is gone. Any suggestions?? I REALLY REALLY miss this feature

Launches the sms app. Not quick compose.
Quick compose should launch a box in any app that allows to create the message and send it. Handcent did it flawlessly.

in 1Tap Quick bar, there's an option to add a CREATE NEW SMS, which you could find in ITEMS/OTHER. the icon is a white envelope. This icon launches the default sms app you are currently using, and directly goes to IT"S create new sms message window. but i guess that's still not what you want.

Thanks for the help. I sorta found a solution with ChompSMS. There's an option for quick compose that leaves a box in your notification tray to quick compose a message. I just hate having stock, Handcent, and ChompSMS sms apps in my phone.
Not perfect but it will do for now.

Yea i know that. However that "search" mechanism does not activate quick compose in any of the sms apps.

I'd like to find a way to have notification similar to MIUI where you can respond to any text you receive from within the app

OH s*** my bad I didn't notice the year ?*
I'm using CM9 and during a call, there are no options to mute, hang up, hold, or anything else in notification tray. This is the one thing I loved about the Samsung variant of Android. Do I simply need to install a dialer app from Google Play to get this functionality, or is there a feature in CM9 to enable this?
Can anyone help me get this functionality? Thanks in advance.
What would be the point all those buttons are on the in call screen in ICS?

If you are multitasking outside of the phone app while in speaker phone, isn't it pretty quick to pull down the notification tray and click the phone so the phone app opens (which has all the options), then just switch back to what you were doing? Doesn't even take 5 seconds to go from browser to phone, back to browser...
Although it would be a nice feature, it is not a necessary one.

No offense, but I didn't ask what you thought was necessary. I just want to see if anyone knows how to get what I want. I don't know why people are trying to talk me out of this
