Hboot os is blank - AT&T HTC One (M8)

I had s-off and unlocked and am trying to get back to stock. I had flashed a gpe ROM at one point and used my twrp backup to get back to stock. Flashed stock recovery, locked and went back to s-on. Is the backup the reason the os doesn't show anything on the hboot screen? Should I just flash the stock ROM again instead of a backup?
Everything on the phone works fine except that.
Thanks for the help.

yea , I did that a couple times and it didn't work. The firmware ota would leave an os but after a rom flash it was gone. I ended up using misctool and writing it myself.

Flash the stock at&t hboot os will show again.

Where can the stock AT&T hboot be found? Is it part of the system dump?

Not sure if anyone bothered to upload much of anything "stock" for the AT&T software build,if referring to the nand I uploaded then no that is only recovery, boot, data and system

Stock rom and updates? will it work

my phone is rooted and i just put the stock rom on it (Shooter_S_Sprint_WWE_2.17.651.5_odex.zip) after having a different rom my question is when ICS update comes in 2 weeks (for sprint users in the usa) will the update work and be applied? or will i just get an error?
I believe you will also have to relock your bootloader and install the stock ruu which puts the stock recovery on.
I recommend that you wait until a dev comes out with a custom based off the ota. It will be more awesome.

That Sucks is there any way I could go back to stock stock so I can update threw HTC when released
Sent from my PG86100 using xda app-developers app
NEVER EVER take an update when you are rooted. Every single guide to rooting tells you this.
There is no need to relock to take the update when it comes out. Just wait about an hour, and someone on here will have a flashable version of the stock rooted rom. Flash it like any other rom, simple as that, no need to worry about bricking.
Well I don't really care about it not being rooted any more

Just find the stock RUU for your phone.
Depending on whether your CDMA or GSM and what carrier.
It shouldn't be hard. Just use the search.
Then follow the instructions to flash it, make sure you have the stock HTC recovery and relock the bootloader.
Your phone will be stock!

Ah, no problem, you should be fine.
When flashing the stock RUU, if done properly, you should automatically get the stock recovery.

[Q] Revert back to stock ICS

Hi everyone,
I'm currently on Viper Amaze 1.7.0.2 and I'd like to know how to revert back to stock ICS. My phone is on tmobile, s-on, unlocked bootloader, hboot 1.93.0002 and 4ext recovery. I want to go back to stock ICS because I need wifi calling. I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1617644 but not sure which file to download and what to do with it. Thank you.

But you need to be s-off to flash that rom. I tried to s-off my phone once and it got stuck. I don't want to risk it again.

I dunno why all of you get this.. Its cuz your boot.img didn't flash.. Do like this flash the Rom and reboot into the recovery again then a small pop up will come saying turn on smart flash bla bla say yes and give it 10 sec and reboot your phone.. I kinda remember something like that

DNA with no active service issues

Not sure what to do on this one and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'll start from the beginning. I was on m7 not having many issues and wanted to try some 4.4 roms. Went to flash beans, did full wipe etc and couldn't flash because of not having updated cwm. Was working and didn't want to mess with it too much so said nvm ill just restore back to m7 and fix it later. Md5 didn't match and couldn't restore at all. So I just rebooted and planned on starting over on m7. Once that kicked on I had no Google services at all. No gmail, play store etc. But I think (not 100%) that I still had service on the device. I downloaded cm10.2 and flashed gapps but once that booted up I had nothing. No data, wouldn't activate the device, only showed the number as all 0's. I have since flashed back to m7 to see if that was the problem but now that I'm back it's still not working at all. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm running to vzw to get a new Sim tomorrow just to cover all my bases. Thanks guys.

No I haven't. That's a good idea though. Once locked is it terrible to unlock again or just as easy as the first time?
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
In development section, there is a flashable zip to lock and unlock the bootloader by Scotty. Be sure to plus rep him for all his work.
If you are s-off, it would be simple to install a custom recovery and re unlock again after you ruu.

RUU back to stock, get service on stock ROM, then clean flash Viper. Once that works then try restoring your Viper backup.

Do I need S Off to flash stock rooted roms?

Hey I don't have s off. But I have a problem with updating my root binaries. If I were to flash a stock 4.3 Rom would I need to have s off first ? I tried using a Rom last time and it didn't finishing installing. So I bricked. Sorry. I'm sort of a noob about some things.

your phone was not bricked ...you had a windows 8.1 pc and could not fix it that's all.
S-off gives you the ability to flash firmware and RUU for any version including downgrading. You don't need s-off to just flash roms.

Awesome. Once its odexed I can dirty flash then?
Else I was just gonna wait for viper to update to 1.58 and flash that or worse comes to worse flash stick recovery and take the OTA but I know some have been having issues with that and the OTA would only get 40% done and fail because of some xml file differences

If you have a stock rom backup you should be able to take the OTA no problem. You just can't have anything modified in the system partition, if you do it will fail.
I just restored my untouched/unmodified stock backup and flash stock recovery and got the OTA from system updates.

I reflashed the stock recovery for the OTA, but my rom backup already had some of the bloat taken out, and other apps updated. For instance, when I tried to run the OTA is said that Kindle was not as expected, since the update was integrated into the system rom. Would I then have to wait for the odexed version of your stock version, and then have the OTA included anyway?

Shoot xposed framework had to be flashed from recovery since i still have write protection on and it needed to be a system app.

The word "firmware" is rather generalized and can apply to any type of program code flashed to a device. Don't feel dumb, because the term "firmware" is sometimes used on XDA interchangeably with the word ROM.
But their are other times when folks talk about "the firmware" (such as in posts 5 and 6 above) to mean "the other modules that are included in the 1.58 OTA aside from the ROM". I haven't looked at this particular firmware zip, but they can typically contain: hboot, kernel, radio, WiFi, media and possibly other modules.
These other modules are typically not needed to run a particular ROM. But it might be argued, if they cared enough to change them, there might be something in there worth installing.
Personally, I'm rarely in the practice up updating the firmware packages, and have only rarely seen it make much difference.
