I have the above watch. I ordered the pre-rooted dev edition, but guess what? Omate sent me the standard edition (as well as leaving out my accessories)
Is there a way to root this version? Or any ROMs?
Any advice or info for this edition would be appreciated

I also bought 8GB/1GB, 2100 version and I have no idea if I received what I paid for. I don't know how to check amount of free memory. I see in "storage" that I have 4.9GB free. So maybe it is an 8GB version but 3.1GB is used by firmware? It is strange btw, because I have just flashed it with new firmware and on my PC it had size only 300MB.

Well I think the other option is 4Gb, so if it's higher it seems likely it's the 8Gb edition? I had the same thoughts lol

What is the ROM version on your watch?
There is no prerooted Omate.
Only 4.9GB free space. Nothing new. Take a look at a 16GB Samsung, you get about 9GB free.
Root. Not yet, I've only had a copy of the 2100 firmware for about 24hrs and no 1/8 2100 to test on. This is requiring I go through the firmware line by line to root and patch it.
EU 2100 1/8GB here too, storage (Phone 1.27GB, Total Space 4.91GB) so i think this is 8GB version but curious that system and OS took nearly 4GB spaces.
Developer Edition - Omate_TrueSmart_20140328.182336_V2.0
Root checker checked the watch is UNROOTED
Need to wait for Loki security patch for EU 2100 version.

From their kickstarter page (and my confirmation page):
Omate TrueSmart DEVELOPERS Edition | Same package as Standard Edition + SDK, Developers Forum, Developers Support, ships Rooted //
You mean the page that also says;
1.3Ghz Dual core (no 1/8 is 1.3GHz)
IP67 water resistance (was never even tested correctly)
Sapphire Crystal Glass (nope just a spray on coating if even that)
Companion support for iOS (BT doesn't even work right yet much less companion mode)
Play Store (not according to Google)
20+ Premium Clockfaces (only if somebody else does it for them)
and the list goes on.....
Ignore what the KS page says and trust the guys that exposed almost every one of the failures on Omate's part and have been working to fix what they can for everybody else.
Lol they're an amazing company! I emailed them today, we'll see what their response is...

I have just received my developer edition in the UK 1gb/8gb. Internal storage says 1.27gb and total storage. 4.91gb with 4.89gb available. I have side loaded play store and put on several google apps. I assume this is normal. My only problem I seem to have is when I take a photo it doesn't store it in the gallery or dcim folder. I don't have so card fitted, never needed to before when storing photos. Am I doing something wrong. ?

Omate really fu**ed all up...
It's amazing how they did this scam and it's scam, nothing less...
CPU 1Ghz instead of 1.3, camera 3mpx scaled to 5mpx - they can't say they didn't know that in the beginning, that was planned and that's scam.
I'm willing to take my watch and shut the fu*k up but if I preordered watch - I would be very mad right now.
KS is KS and that's nothing new but to but something advertised and receive something totally different??!
But OK... @Androidandy
Mate, you have 2100 version?
How could you sideload without recovery - is that even possible using only ADB?
How did you install market?
Loki just said - no root method for 2100, so no recovery...
Or we have unlocked bootloader and we can flash custom kernel? Hahaha....frickin' sources..

No need rooted to install PLAY. Just download Play apk and install. Mine is developer edition but UNROOTED, so went to get PLAY apk download to TS and click install. Dropbox won't work tho. (Can't get to login page)
You really want your personal info on an unsecured device?
@loki, i don't understand what you mean. I thought unsecured is only apply which Clicking Link, Browsing website, and downloading stuffs. (I download the Play APK from the link you provided (AndroidPolice). I haven't used any browsing, downloading apart from that APK, not even login Gmail, FB, etc). Correct me if i am wrong this still relevant to personal information security, or we should pack the TS and put back into box?

Man,,, who are you kidding?!!!,,,
the SGSII 32GB version is discontinued by SAMSUNG (Some say because of its high price)..
Anyway I think it's just a 16GB version with a 16GB or 32GB SDHC card...
Please Mr. downwiththebanksters stick a 32GB SD card into it and show the total 64GB capacity of your phone either through some pictures or video clips so that we can silence all these windbags once and for all...

...and then you woke up ! lol
I'm often astounded at the vitriol that is slung around here sometimes. To quote Linus Van Pelt (the only one who I actually KNOW, and am willing to acknowledge, said these words), "I bring you tidings of great joy." and you slag me? We're all in this together people. The Palm community would have never gotten so vicious as this thread. People calling me a liar...honestly. I do thank those who had the grace to defend me.
I think those thugs should take a look at my sig. I had smartphones while they were in regular phones. I had one of the first of the first 10,000 run of BB 850's (google it). That was in the last century kiddies!
I took a long time dealing with Taiwanese people to get this and then was late for work, so had no time to upload pics. Will try to do it now. Some of us have lives.
It was "Made in china by Samsung"
I want to see if someone asks me for/ needs this potentially unique ROM. I haven't attempted root, but have read the howto thread once, so I can't go to system/etc/asound.conf yet. I can't browse there in Win7, but might jam it into my Linuxbox when my son wakes tomorrow as what DAC it is a burning question for me too! I would also like to find out if it's Eynos/Mali. Where could I find that short of a teardown? The telco said it is Exynos/Mali.
It cost me $NT22490 cash today, which included the next 11 months free service (NT$1049/mo) of the 2yr contract(unlimited 3G/HSPDA, 400 sms, 30mins voice).
I bought the 32 because I didn't want to spend the extra NT$2000 to get a good 32SD, so sorry that pic won't be coming for a while, by then noone'll give a bienbien.
The ?!?!?!?!?!!!!?four!?!??! is the exact same emotion YOU are having, except I'm lucky enough to have it in my hands. Yes I'm shocked that Taiwan got it first. As for whether I photoshopped this....do you really think I would waste my time to get the goat of what are seemingly graceless individuals?

I went to settings>software update. I was forced to give Sammy my email and birthdate, and then it checked for an update and said "No update available." Sorry, dunno if that is KIES or not. If not please tell me specifically what to do.
Samsung does not provide OTA updates yet. So updating your firmware can be done through Kies , an app that you must install in your pc, it's free to download from Samsung official site. With this app you can sync your phone with your pc through usb cable.

Is there actually a Desktop application for this that integrates with Finder/Explorer? It seems like you have to upgrade and pay a monthly fee to use the official one on Mac/Windows ... which kind of makes 50 GB useless.

Looks like it could be OK, but really would prefer something official. It turns out you can just mount it as a network drive https://support.box.com/entries/20359428-does-box-support-webdav-or-ftp-connections. This seems to work quite well, but since it is a network drive it is noticeably slower than SkyDrives implementation.
There is a max file size of 100 MB, so this doesn't actually seem to be that useful as a backup solution. If you are just backing up your phone then this is probably OK...but the other free solutions like Dropbox seem like better alternatives.

So, this particular xda-noob got a MediaPad 10 FHD on a trip to China. The nice version, with 2GB of RAM and 1.4GHz clock, not the tuned-down version soon to be released in Europe.
I have plenty of questions, like will I be able to put international firmware (i.e. including Play Store etc) on it, but first things first:
Should that device be discussed on this board? Or should I wait for a separate board for the 10 FHD?

I flashed more than that. I downloaded the "world wide" firmware from the Huawei website and installed it, according to the instructions. Now I have everything I wanted (calendar, contacts,…) and more (all the apps I've installed on the phone) Yay
No rooting, no tricky renaming of files. Thanks, Huawei, for not making an effort to make my life complicated! Now… what is the reason our Chinese friends don't simply download that firmware instead of the Cinese one? Maybe they can't get a Google account, so all this beautiful stuff is useless to them?
Anyway: I'm sorry to say that i don't have a lot of questions at this point. What's a noob to do if everything works out of the box.
BUT: when questions eventually do emerge, is this the board for them?
Cheers,

CMW recovery and custom ROMs
Does the CMW installation and CM10 guide as described in this forum which refers to the mediapad 7 works for the mediapad 10 as well or would it brick the device? Since both pads called Mediapad I would recommend to open a separate forum for Mediapad 10 and Mediapad 7. Furthermore the official Android release from Huawei does not have google apps installed. Could you please release a guide how to flash it onto it? Thanks guys

hi martin,
I've purchased 3 10 fhd recently. one for myself, one for a friend in berlin, and the last is for my wife. Since we have to use those google staffs I flashed the international firmwares for all the 3 mediapads. But as far as I know there are quite a lot customers in china would like to stick on the stock chinese firmware for several reasons.
1. the development of the chinese firmware is more active. you will get more updates in this firmware.
2. you can still root the chinese firmware and install google staffs onto it.
3. anyway, the experience of accessing gmail, gtalk, youtube as well as facebook and twitter are either difficult or simply just impossible. so for most people in china it's pointless to flash an international firmware. It's impossible to get non-free apps from google play in China mainland as well as in Taiwan because the payment in such areas is not supported.
And there is another firmware for Huawei devices, the Emotion UI, a.k.a. EMUI, which gets tons of fans in China. This firmware is said to be one with special tunes and optimizations for Huawei devices such as D1 xl smartphone, P1 xl smartphone and, of course, the 10 mediapad. Right now there are a lot of fans of this firmware calling for a ``natively-rooted'' version of it, in this way installing google's staff would become easier.
Anyway, I also find this 10 fhd is quite a good choice. It just cost 2700 chinese yuan (~400USD or ~300euro) for the WIFI/2GB RAM/16GB ROM version.
If you are really looking for some interesting staff on your new toy, please think about installing or compiling full-functional linux for it. Right now I've compiled a gentoo linux for it, with x-window. It works as well as on my laptop.

Firmware S10-101u
Today I spotted a newer firmware on Huawei's website, and proceeded to install it. Only to find out afterwards that this was for the 3G version of the tablet.
So: for the wifi version, you want the one called S10-101w, for the 3G version, the one called S10-101u. Using the 3G firmware on a WiFi-only tablet gives an error message "Failed to update modem" that will sit on the screen and not go away.
Skype
I recently tried to use Skype on the MediaPad 10 FHD. Two problems:
1. Video didn't seem to work, neither sending, nor receiving.
2. The microphone volume seems to be so low that it's unusable.
(I've found posts about problems with Mic volume for other android devices. All fixes seem to involve rooting. Anybody tried to root a MediaPad yet?)
Google Maps and Google Earth navigation
Another thing that doesn't work as it should are the gestures for rotating in Google maps and both tilting and rotating in Google Earth.
I can tilt in Maps by sliding two fingers next to each other up and down. I can rotate by sliding two fingers above each other left and right. But the expected rotation gesture of doing circular movements with the fingers doesn't work.
In Earth, neither the tilting gesture nor any of those two rotating gestures work.
Some mobile phones seem to have this problem, possibly if they have bad multitouch support. I remember reading in some form (which I can't seem to find now ) that there are some kernel configuration variables that these gestures depend on.

According to Huawei:
You will be attracted by the brilliant games.
It also has the simple quick applications.
With touch screen you can have ultimate experience.
I always enjoy my visits to Huawei's web site
But does anyone know whether it is possible to flash new firmware without completely resetting the tablet. Reconfiguring Wifi access, mail accounts, beginning World of Goo from level 1, etc. Had that twice last week.

The easiest way is to install the "worldwide" version of the software, instead of the China-specific one, which is on the tablet if you buy it in China. That will not only give you the familiar set of Google apps, facebook, etc., it will also remove chat apps, browsers, games, etc. that are specifically chinese.
Go to Huawei's software download site find you device in the menus, and find the firmware for your device. S10-101w for the WiFi-only version, S10-101u for the one with mobile connectivity.
You will get a large zip file, which takes a long time to download. China is far away.
You unzip it and follow the instructions in the PDF. The English is a bit funny, but they're entirely understandable and accurate. No point in repeating them here really.
The only thing you might want to know before you start: you will have to copy the files for the update onto a micro SD card that you plug into your tablet. So you'll need a micro SD card. No micro SD card, no update. And (unless you do the download with the tablet) you need a way of writing to that card with your computer. So you might need a micro SD -> SD adapter.
Oh, one more thing: the process pretty much wipes the phone. All installed apps are gone and have to be reinstalled. Wifi access and mail accounts etc need to be set up again.
I don't have a 10 inch media pad but the 7 inch one had fast boot, which allowed flashing files directly from PC to tablet with nothing but a usb cable, no micro sd required.
Maybe that works here too?
Maybe it works. Starting the MediaPad with Vol+ button pressed gives me a "Enter Fastboot mode" message. The fastboot program on the computer didn't recognise the device however.

Hurray! With the firmware from 21.11., both problems are solved.
More or less. Maps and Earth work as they should. In Skype, video with the front-facing camera works, but switching cameras makes problems. And the microphone is louder, but audio is really disappointing quality. As also witnessed by the audio recording app.
Anyway, in total the advantages outweigh the problem of having to play World of Goo from level 1 again.

For what it's worth, I bought mine on a trip to the PRC, and it came witha NEMA 1 plug. I suppose you got the same. Two parallel flat blades. This is originally a North American standard, which might make it easier to find an adapter. It seems within China, a bunch of different standards are in use.
The Wikipedia article on power plugs and sockets is a good resource b.t.w.

Hi, ordered my Pad 2GB/16GB/3G at Aliexpress dot com. Very quick delivery from China to Germany within 5 days.
But the Power adaptor is the China version....
My Pad is rooted already and I can use Ad blocker, remove some Software I dont like and so on.
But the Firmware needs some optimization. Not all works perfect ....

Okay so I got this Monster M7 tablet as a gift, its actually pretty nice, at least compared to the cheapo that I did have that barely ran anything without imploding, considering its a value tablet from Monster of all companies its amazingly stable after a firmware update. Thing is I cant find any information about rooting the darn thing, its not a huge deal except I would love to clear out of some of the preinstalled apps because the thing does have a funky split storage system that's really limiting.
Its running android 4.1 if that's at all relevant.
there are many tut for root in xda, you can try once
like framaroot
root

I bought two of these for my wife and I. We love'em, but the memory issue is getting a little annoying. Another gb would be a huge help if you don't mind sharing the instructions.
Thanks!

I am not able to post outside links, since I am a newbie. I sent you a message with the instructions. I am working on posting 10 comments so I can put the instructions here.
feel free to share the instructions, as I volunteered to test them for Monster and take no credit. Obviously I am not responsible for anything that happens to your tablet, nor is XDA. But this is a fairly safe update. I installed it on 4 tablets with no issue. I should be getting another update to test in a couple weeks from Monster and will share it when I get it.
Hopefully someone will be able to figure out how to root it, so we can remove the bloatware.

Just got those myself after sweet talking the Monster tech support, its actually reduced the need to root now that they sort of fixed the glaring memory issue though I would still prefer to see the whole internal memory unified. It would still be nice to root and dump some of this stuff (does anybody EVER actually use the twitter app that's installed on everything?)

Do u say about front-facing camera? Ok, how do you use it? What the sowtware? Can u upload a screenshot with using front camera?

Working on one non branded phone does not mean it will work on everything, as is true for EVERY root method. Nothing is 100 percent successful on every device.

You should try flashing to the latest firmware, it looks like you have some kind of fault, if its just software maybe the firmware will fix it. If you couldn't get the stuff from somebody that has it already here, emailing monster support, which you can find on the tablets official website and asking for the beta fix for the camera issues should get you everything you need and instructions. It still may not work tho, before I used it my front camera worked fine, rear camera was only running at 3mp though, after flash they are at correct values but I don't know if it will fix one of them not even showing up, worth a shot though if you cant exchange it for a new one.

1/ I used Monster M7 Firmware Updater and have the latest version of firmware now.
2/ I emailed to Monster Support and didn't get any response yet.
3/ I think both cameras should be work properly with any version of firmware!
You wrote: "I used it my front camera worked fine". What do you do for it? What the software? And after update I see same 3 Mp for rear camera... (I use standard "Camera" application.)
OK I recently didn't mention about the front camera OK I will prove it by sending a screen shot

the firmware updater app isn't going to do you any good because the beta version is not available on mass distribution yet, or at least it wasn't a week ago when they gave it to me. Took about a day for them to write me back about it. It really sounds like there is some sort of fault with your tablet tho if its still not working after getting that older update that fixed the freezing issues with the tablet. I can see both cameras with the default camera app, you can hit a button and swap back and forth between the two cameras, if that's not working then you must have some kind of defect on the tablet. The beta update they emailed me fixed the rear camera so its running at 5mp and increased the internal storage from 1gb to 2gb for apps.
Need root for monster m7
Hey guys I am having problems with ma monster m7 tablet and customer service is not took good. I really want to root it but I have tried a almost every rooting app and software available and I have come to a conclusion that monster doesn't want their tablet rooted... Does anyone know a way to root? I mean this is the reason we are on this thread right?
Have you guys tried using the tool from this youtube video? ( I can't post links) It's worked for most of my rockchip tablets running 4.1 so far. Monster should be no exception

Hello guys so my nvidia shield tablet has died. I am now considering options and wandering is it still worth getting the z4?
If you don't need more than Android 7!
Nope, the display breaks easily and it is virtually impossible to find replacement.

Are they still selling this tablet? No Sony software support. Gets shower day by day. I rooted it and installed Lineage OS which saved my day.

Can you still use Remote Play if you installed another OS? I just got one off ebay so I could do that and the wife and I can Google Duo our folks on a larger screen. I don't really need it for much more than that, but I notice it's a bit sluggish, even editing Google Photos.

I just tried installing the Remote Play from Play Store and had no problem. So, you should be fine.
The Tablet Z4 with Sony's OS is definitely slow. That's the reason why I installed the custom ROM.

Thanks. It actually connects and everything?
Also, would you happen to know the max capacity micro sd card this takes? I can't seem to find that info anywhere.

No problem with connection. About SD card - it supports up to 128gb. https://www.sonymobile.com/au/products/tablets/xperia-z4-tablet/specifications/#gref

Thanks, again. I saw some people say 256gb, but nothing official. Nothing on these forums either, besides 128gb.

I wish Sony would update this - more ram, new processor, maybe better battery life if possible. Sounds like they gave up on the tablet market which sucks.
I just want a 10.1" or greater modern tablet that is waterproof, with an unlockable boot loader and some custom rom support. Unless a great announcement comes out soon, I may be going samsung and researching waterproof cases.

I'm using a 256GB card with no problems. Running stock rom with AndroPlus kernel.

Thanks. Do you think the kernel helped with that? I'm interested in "updating" the software somehow, but AndroPlus isn't supported anymore. I'm already out of practice with rooting and all that and don't want to risk ruining a device that was already pretty hard to find.

I don't think so. It'll just work. If not, the 'rooting' process is as simple as these instructions, if you want to go with LineageOS, which is basically an open source Android ROM.
I have a 256GB sdcard as well and I'm fully stock and I have no issues. I haven't maxed out the card, however so I'm assuming that it recognizing the card means it works.
I've had mine for 1.5 years now. It is definitely showing its age on the latest games or a ton of Chrome tabs but otherwise it works fine for me.
I would love to have a new Sony tablet but it's pretty clear that they exited the market. So, probably at the end of the year I'll get a Sammy S4 or S5.

I am using a 400GB micro SD and will upgrade to 512GB in the next days.
I see no reason why the Controller should not support Cards up to 2TB(the theoretical max for Micro SDX) - if they will ever exist.
