Nice that you were able to so successfully do all the things that you did.
Custom ROM's won't work unless the Amaze is first updated from official GB to official ICS.
It provides a radio, among other things.

Glad it worked for you.
The little bit I know comes from the people here before me, and from using the "Search" function here and on google.
Try it out and see if you like it, with a test phrase like, "how to cook a rom."

Hello,
I updated my Evo to the 1.22.651.3 software version and then got it HTC unlocked. Is there a way to get S-off from HTC unlocked? If so, which guide do I use? All the guides I can find seem to suggest that if you updated to 1.22.651.3, then you can't do S-off at this point.
Thanks for your help.
Correct, you can't get s-off.

Ok, thank you. Mean-Rom 3.5 and higher uses a new base and apparently without s-off I can't update past 3.4. I've tried a coupe times and get a black screen. Is there any work around for s-on phones trying to upgrade to a ROM with the new base?ne

Yes you can. You need to know the limitations of your bootloader.
You are trying to boot the ROM with the wrong kernel

Oh, I see. It's h boot 1.15. Thanks for the link. I should be able to figure out how to flash the kernel separate but where do I extract the kernel from the ROM? And will flashing the kernel ahead of the ROM do the trick? even with the new base?
Thanks a ton. Sorry for the noob stuff.

The kernel is in the boot.img. Open up the ROM and copy the boot.img to your adb folder if you are doing the fastboot method.
You can do it before or after the ROM flash, but the ROM wont boot till you have both
Hi,

Did you check here? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786578. Also your problem maybe that you are s-on and most aosp roms require you to be s-off with a downgraded bootloader to work properly. I am suprised because you have posted in the tutorial for rearranged s-off and did not follow the guides to obtain s-off. Well, in any event. Obtaining s-off is your first priority if you want to run aosp roms on your device.

Well thanks for answering :highfive:
Also, Which aosp rom will work ?
P.s i posted in that thread coz i was new to xda then..and wanted thanks by helping people :victory:
As well as the s-on problem the rom you linked to will only boot (for me at least) with the usb cable unplugged.. shrugs, also note first boot takes a fair time, 5 minutes or so.
Still No Luck !!! :crying:
Well, now i installed ubuntuz 0.7.2 jb rom...and it got to android is upgrading ...And it is stuck there tried everything !
Don't panic its going to be ok lol. As I have said before aosp roms do not play nice with s-on devices. I will walk you through this. First thing you will need to do is download an ruu file. Now are you unbranded or branded? If branded you will need to download the ruu for the country and carrier you are on. If not then just use the Europe one. Here's a link with a list of ruu files http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1208485. Scroll through that and find the appropriate one for you. If there aren't any ruu exe's just google it to find the one appropriate for you depending on if your branded or not. Use the European one if unbranded. Here's a link to help you with getting back to stock http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1655832. Okay, if you get to.stock here's a link to gaining s-off. Follow method D. Now I just want to say, a lot of users are apparently having crazy bootloops even with s-off. So my suggestion to you is to flash a sense Rom like cool sense for now until the devs can fix these aosp roms.

I have a rooted mobilicity htc amaze running under the energy rom march 2012 version which is gingerbread. I want to update to the latest version of this rom, or any other ICS rom that is rooted. how would I go about doing this? I followed this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1712858
however the link to the download was taken down, help would be appreciated.
First of all I'm sorry to have to say this.. but this is the 50th thread about how to upgrade to ICS. I don't care which carrier you are on the process is all the same. The file may be different but the actions are all the same. So if you search and read the other "Hold My Hand" threads you should be able to find your answer.
Like I said.. I'm sorry I chose your thread to pick on but some people need to search and read.

thats kinda wrong.. first they need to go back to stock gingerbread and then upgrade the rom to official ice, then root it and flash any ice/jellybean rom they want... but yeah.. it would be easier if you were s-off to flash any stock RUU for any carrier regardless

unlock your bootloader using hasoon aio kit here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1493905
relock your bootloader again.
format you externel sd card.
download a different copy of PH85IMG.
you know the rest..
so i format the sdcard after i relock thebootloader? because it wont let me into recovery once my bootloader is locked the only place it allows me to go is inside the bootloader

No,formatting the sd card is a different issue, its for clear all the possible bad sectors and files....put your PH85IMG file after formatting the sd card...and you do not need recovery while you returning to stock...right

you do not need recovery to flash a stock ROM,because the fastboot automatically detects your PH85IMG from your ext sd card.

relock the bootloader then flash your ruu once it's done flash the jbear hboot (or else you'll have trouble flashing the recovery) plus since you already have an ics firmware why are you messing your phone up :S just flash some rom and enjoy it? you keep flashing stuff more than using your phone as a phone :/
I unlocked and installed cm 10 before I s-off. Could not run s-off successfully without stock.
So... I asked similar questions a month or so back about Telus.
I can't successfully rollback to the gb ruu or the ics ruu. The ics ruu is an ota which appears to need an gb install.
Pure stock tmous ruu check for tmous cid and fails when it finds the Telus cid.
Finally installed arhd 4 and s-off tool ran without error. I could then flash radio and hboot

ARHD4 is short for Android Revolution HD version 4 which has recently been updated to version 5. It's a ROM that's very close to stock T-Mobile OTA from March of 2013, it's deodexed, with minor tweaks and slight debloating, and addons which are done through the Aroma installer. It can be found in the dev section of this board.

I don't believe you can s-off with any non-stock ROM (though I may be mistaken). I think you need to be on the latest factory image from your carrier before you can run the s-off hack or it won't work. Reread through the instructions carefully and I think you'll find what I'm saying is correct.

ARHD won't help you for several reasons. First, it isn't a stock ROM, it's been rooted, deodexed, and some apps removed from stock. Second, it's based on a T-Mobile ruu and you don't have the T-Mobile version of this handset. There are several threads which detail how you can get back to stock, please read them, use the search function, and do some research for yourself rather than spamming the board requesting help.

Reread my post. I didn't say you couldn't flash it, I said you couldn't attain s-off with it, because it isn't a stock ROM for your device. In order to attain s-off the CID of the ROM has to match the CID of your handset. The vast majority of ROMs for the Amaze are made from a T-Mobile base so they are incompatible for your purposes because of this mismatch. What about this fact do you not understand? There have been many threads written about this, and the solutions have been given to you by several folks here in the forum.
Regardless, please discontinue spamming the board, especially when you have been told how to resolve your issue. You were the one who didn't initially follow directions and are now stuck, not any of us. If you're incapable of following basic directions or searching for the answers yourself then you shouldn't be modding your phone in the first place.
