Download Android File Transfer here: http://www.android.com/filetransfer/ and your mac should detect the phone.

Not work buddy not detect it
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk

Just use a micro sd card with an adapter. Plug it into your macbook, drop the files on there and then put the card back in your phone. Or use air droid found here: http://www.airdroid.com/

also another way of doing it, which is what i like for music atleast
download google play music manager
all your music will sync with your gmail account, from there, you can select what you want to download to your phone as far as music goes

delete

This will make your m8 show up in android file transfer. Download Drivedroid from play store, free is fine, but you should support the developer for this awesome program and by the ad free version. Follow these instructions.. drag and drop from finder with ease Hit thanks if I helped. Btw, you must be rooted to do this.

tools for transfer music and videos

hi,
i want to know how i can transfer music and videos to my TF201?
witch tools i use for that?
thanks for response
a tool needed to transfer stuff to my device was the #1 reason i moved away from iDevices (itune).
for large amount of transfer, you simply connect to your computer thru USB, and use file explorer/manager from your computer to move files.
i use ES File manager (on the tablet) to copy a couple files over WIFI sometimes, slow
I generally use Samba SMB/CIFS or a memory card. USB works great if you have a modern PC but I'm to lazy to get a cable. SSH is also heavily used for my network.

Get isyncer for your device and it will sync your iTunes library.
Anyone know of a good wifi file sharing app to share files between android devices? BT is too slow
Nvidia always!
Windows Media Player
It's odd though.. After ICS I can no longer do a SMB connect to my NAS through either Astro or BS Player. Anyone experienced the same?
Edit: Gah, nevermind When playing around I had entered a wrong password at some time, and gotten myself locked out from my NAS
Use the awesome DropBox... click the referral link in my signature & get DB free & you can put DB on any phone, tablet, computer & instantly transfer files around. I use DB 99% of the time to move songs & vids & photos & wallpapers & notification tones & podcasts & apps to my tablet from my computer.
You can use all above, and tools like Web Remote Desktop, or others see in market), and you have all sync software also, on computer side, through USB and wifi, with samba share. Plenty of possibilities.
"wifi file explorer" works great. When I am too lazy to get the cable, I just use wifi to do the transferring. The only problem is it only transfers one file a time. But you can zip everything into a zip file, upload the zip file, and unzip it all througt wifi file explorer. Very convenient.

If you think that is nice try AirDroid just 1 time.
i recommend ASUS cloud
register here
http://access.asus.com/a/changepwUI.htm
it has multi platform apps pc/mac/android/ios
ofcos if u are transferring HD movies usb is definitely the way. this cloud is very good for small file size esp mp3!
cheers!
My go to apps is AirDroid, TeraDesk, DropBox, or Evernote (it all depends on what I'm doing and from where).
Plus I also have LogMeIn pro for emergencies.

[Q] playing music from windows share on android device

I have a bunch of mp3s on a windows PC shared over wifi LAN.
I want to use a old android device to plug into speakers in another room and access the shared files, search/filter and queue, play songs on the phone.
POssible? Any suggestions on the best way to do this?
I know I could run a shoutcast server and just queue up songs on the pc but I would love to be able to use some sort of app that can scan all the shares and create a database that can be easily filtered/searched on the phone
Thank you =)

Es file explorer. I use it sometimes to play music from my pc and also a dlna hard drive. Its free and easy to use, you will need to enter your windows user name and password the first time you access a windows pc though.

[Q]Do you need Kies for file transfers?

Ok after a few days of trolling through posts and searching I can't find the answer I'm looking for... Do you need Kies to transfer from PC to SGS3 via USB? I understand it used for updates etc but what I'm getting is can I plug the SGS3 into a friends computer and grab some data without it. Thanks
Edit: found the answers I was looking for.
››Connect as a media device
You can connect your device to a computer and access media
files stored on your device.
1 Connect your device to a computer with a USB cable.
2 Tap the indicator icons(top of the screen eg where the time & battery icon is) area and drag it downwards to
open the notifications panel.
3 Select Connected as a media device → Media device
(MTP).
4 Transfer files between your device and the computer.
Not working for me. On a rooted S3.
"USB utilities" doesn't appear on any list.
The S3 supports MTP and PTP. No need for special USB drivers as far as I tell.

It works fine with my PC but not with my MBP...doesn't show up as attached storage.
Hmmm, Thanks for your reply's...Reason I started this thread was because a HTC owner I know said the reason He didn't wait for the SGS3 was because he thought you needed software(I take it he was thinking Kies) installed on a computer to transfer data.
I can't confirm on my SGS3 as I don't pick it up till tomorrow in New Zealand. Those steps I posted were from the Samsung site on how to transfer files for the S2, I just took it for granted it would be the same for the S3.
I just want to make sure I can just access the drive on the phone say if I visit a friend and grab some data off them without having to install software on their computer or log onto their wi-fi for Kies to work
If they have a computer that supports MTP or PTP you will be fine. No software is needed.

Yea confirmed it today when I got my phone, once I get homr from work I'll edit those steps I posted in my first post because thats not how you get the connection to PC to work

1. Attach your Samsung device to your computer (PC or Mac) using the USB cable. If this is the first time you’ve connected your device to your computer, it will install the necessary drivers on your computer.
2. On your Samsung device, touch Applications > Settings > Wireless and network > USB utilities.
3. Remove the USB cable from you Samsung device.
4. On your Samsung device touch “Connect storage to PC.” You will see a warning: “USB utilities / Connect USB cable to use mass storage.” Insert the USB cable into your Samsung device while the message is still on the screen. Do not touch “Cancel.”
5. The screen will change to “USB mass storage” with a picture of a green Android and a message that says “USB connected.” Touch “Connect USB storage” at the bottom.
6. Your Samsung device is now connected to your computer. The device’s internal storage will appear on your computer as an external drive. If you also have a microSD card installed, this will show up as a second external drive.
7. You can now drag and drop files directly from your computer or iTunes to your device. You can create folders on your device as necessary to organize your files. Your device will automatically index these files and make them available in your media player.
8. IMPORTANT NOTE FOR MAC USERS: Before you disconnect your device from your Mac, you must eject the disks on your Mac, just as you would eject any disk or flash drive. After the drives have been ejected, touch “Disconnect storage from PC” on your Samsung device.
9. When you’ve moved all of the files you need to, disconnect the USB cable.

Yea I know i posted those steps in my first post before I got my phone, I copied those steps from the samsung website, I'll update it with the right procedure when I get home from work sorry for any confusion
when you plug in the micro USB and connect it to your PC you have two options in the notification bar : MPT or PTP.
This means that we can't transfer over unsupported files, right?
Like MKV files... I've been dying to try an HD movie on this screen.. whenever I try to transfer an MKV file, windows explorer crashes

I tried with both Kies 2.0 for Mac and Android File Transfer, it doesn't connect. With AFT, it just says "connect your device" and Kies keeps showing status as "Connecting". Any advice? Thanks.

Bro, is there a way to transfer music to the G Watch without All access pass and Play Music. In my country Google's music services are not available hence transfer to android option is not there in the settings. Therefore I am unable to transfer songs from the phone to the watch.
Please help.

You can simply do that via ADB.
Just enable USB Debugging on your watch connect it via USB to your PC and search how to correctly use "adb push" to transfer files
Can't give you a guide now sadly, I'm on my phone.

I have no idea how to do that but I am reading about it to know more. For some reason my LG G Watch is not installing drivers properly. I think I may need to download the entire SDK to use adb. But thanks for responding.

Here you can find a little guide how to do so over your Smartphone via Bluetooth. It's slow tho, only ~50KB/s so this would take a long time for larger files.
If you want to connect your SmartWatch directly via ADB and USB to your PC you need something like an "LG ADB Driver". I found one but only after an hour of searching or so... I don't have it here at work sadly.
At least that's the only one that worked for me.

I didn't play them "on the watch", I connected my Bluetooth Speaker (which you can see in the background) and then connected my PC to those so I can record the audio.
After messing about a bit with Google Play Music and trying to get it work, I gave up on that and just went the ES File Manager route as well. Working great with the built-in media player!
Too bad I can't find a music player that'll work (GMMP and Apollo don't, just FCs).
I got this to work. I had music that I had uploaded to Google cloud using their program on my computer. That's the only music that seems to be able to be downloaded to the watch using Google play music app on the phone. I'm assuming music purchases from Google play will work too. Idk about that tho cuz I've never bought from them.

Hey can you check in which folder the downloaded music goes in watch so if we directly copy our music into that place it may work
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Free mobile app
In case anyone runs into the problem where music is playing, but you don't hear anything, just repeatedly type in "adb shell input keyevent 24" and hit enter a few times. For some reason, occasionally when I factory reset the watch, its volume goes on mute. This just increases the volume.
