[Q] Direct Dial shortcuts and contact photos - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

On my Z1 homescreen I have a couple of direct dial shortcuts and the icons are taken from the contact photo.
I have tried to set these up on my Z2 but I'm just getting default avatar icons.
Anyone know how to get contact photos associated with these shortcuts?
I must have known once but can't seem to work it out now...............ah, .the joys of old age.
(If I add a contact to the homescreen that brings the icon with it but then when you press the desktop icon you get contact details displayed, ie its not a one-touch to dial someone)

Hello,
Did you find the solution? I was hitting the same issue.
Thanks,
Robert

Dialer!!!

is there a dialer modification out there which can look for contacts by typing the numbers on the dialpad?
i had this feature in all my last wm phones. on the streak i always have to go for contacts and search for a contact.
hope you know what i mean..
for example i want to get a phonecall to "DAVID" i will choose the numbers 328 and so on and it gets a filtered list with the contact that match the numbers...
thanks for all replies...
Dialer One will do it
gesture search, free from google will do it.
Thanks... Dialer one solves it. But is there way to set it as standard dialer when i hit the phone button on the lower screen in froyo? Dialer one has only a setting for a shortcut on the status bar.
If your using Steve's froyo and adw you can just add the dialer one shortcut to your homescreen then drag and drop it on the default phone icon next to the tray button

[Q] [KaosFroyo] Contact Shortcuts

My wife's Droid Eris is stock 2.1.
She has specific contact shortcuts for calls and texts; ie Call Mere, Text Mere
I finally created contact shortcuts. When I touch my shortcut, I get another window with different icons for call, contact, gmail, etc.
Is there a way to create specific shortcuts to call someone without opening the second window?
Thanks
Anycut should do it.
Let me state my observation a different way.
My wife's Droid Eris with stock 2.1 has single click call or text function.
My KaosFroyo v35-1 has requires two clicks, 1st click brings up an expanded window with other options, requiring me to click on the small phone icon to place a call.
How can I create a shortcut to call a telephone number?

Click to collapse
bring up the option to add to home screen click shortcuts and scroll down and you have options for direct dial and direct message. And from there its a single click icon to call the selected contact you have choosen for that shortcut
Ok, your reply has added one more thing on my droid do list.
Add each Widget to a screen if only to see what exactly it does.
I selected the Contact Widget not the Direct Dial Widget.
Thanks.

Anyone know of such an app?

Looking to add 4-6 direct dial or direct sms icons to one slot on the notification drop down menu.
The key is that it uses the contacts picture or a graphic of choosing..
It should be able to just dial or open sms from the menu... not open a widget.
Is this an app?
I currently use power controls. Have used dg quickset...
Anyone know?
Sent from my Dell Streak
Maybe this?

I haven't installed it, so don't have person experience. And it looks like you can only put one shortcut in each row, but I could be wrong.
thanks.. I have tried that app, but I am looking for mulitple contacts on one notification line

[REQ] Detailed missed call/SMS widget

I'm looking for a widget that shows either recent missed calls or unread text messages (or both) for use on Widgetlocker. I already tried MissedIt!, SMS Unread Count, Last Call Widget, and ADW Notifier, but they don't provide the functionality I am looking for.
I can't post pictures yet, so I'll try to describe the widget I am looking at. It's either 4x1 or 3x1, and on the left 2 columns it shows the name of the person who called and their phone number. Between the second and third column is a straight vertical line/divider, like one of these... | ... and on the right side of the divider is a green phone icon. I like that it shows the name/number of the missed call - not just the number of missed calls - and appears to have a button for returning the call from the widget.
What would be even better is widget just like MissedIt!, but with small phone, SMS, and email icons to the left of the numbers of missed items, and more details like name of missed caller, preview of SMS, etc.
Anyone have any idea what widget this is, or know of a widget with similar features? A widget that also counts and previews recent SMS would be even better.
Thanks
Try to look at those

[Q] TouchWiz Favorites Contacts as Grid -> How to set default action?

Clicking in a contact will show the contact complete profile. There´s a way to set to call the default number?
hold your finger on the number u want to be default and a menu will appear with "set as default" on it.
I already done that. My favorites haven default numbers set. In list view mode I can directly call then, but this didnt work in grid view mode.
My question is regarding the option to enable this click-and-call feature on grid view mode. Today when I click in the contact photo I´m redirected to contact page.
I was wondering about this also, my last phone did it by default and its driving me crazy that it doesn't. Any help is greatly appreciated.
