Probably a corrupted sdcard, save important files to the pc and format the card from the phone. Place the files back, see if you are rooted and if not reroot with CF-Root and try again. Do not superwipe this time.Just do data/factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache and format system and data in mounts and storage.
Hello, sorry for reviving this old thread, but it seems that this would be a logical place to ask if it's recommended to do a super wipe before every non stock ROM flash.

I guess your friend's SGS2 is root so, the instructions will always be the same.
Copy the Custom ICS Rom in the internal/external sdcard.
Reboot the phone into recovery mode (volume up+home button+power button).
If your in the recovery mode, go to "install zip from sdcard".
"choose zip from sdcard" or "choose zip from internal card". This depends where he/she puts the custom ICS rom.
Select the file.
Choose "Yes" and wait for it to finish.
Now, you have to "wipe data/factory reset".
and then "wipe cache partition".
and then "reboot system now".
Hope this helps.

I don't know about GB to ICS because back when my SGS2 was SHW-M250K (Korean Galaxy S2) I took a risk by flashing Litening ROM using Odin and hoping that it would be a success and I'm glad to say that it went perfectly. But now, I flash JB ROM and ICS Custom ROMs via Recovery Mode and not by Odin, and Yes, I do full wipe I flash roms in my phone.

did u full wipe from recovery while u had JB and u flash afyer full wope an ICS rom?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
It doesn't matter what from and where to.
This way always should work:
0] BACKUP APPS (U would not loose ur Data from sd card)
1) Choose Firmware/Rom
2) Put it on internal sd card (I it's flashable .zip, otherwise u have to flash via Odin and check 'Re-Partition'!)
3) Go into recovery mode (see above)
4) DO A FULL WIPE!! (U won't loose ur backup on sd card)
-- wipe data/ factory reset
-- wipe cahe partition
-- advanced > wipe dalvik cache
-- mount and storage > format data/system/cache
5) Then flash Rom via recovery
-- install .zip from sd card > choose .zip from sd card
-- Select the downloaded Custom Rom and flash it
6) Reboot and u r done!

go to this post and flash the stock firmware via odin.
for installing custom rom, you will need root and cwm
go to recovery mode
choose install zip from sd card
choose the cwm file
this will install the cwm.
now wipe data and cache
go to advanced menu and wipe dalvik cache
then go to choose zip from sdcaed and select the rom
please make sure that you are using a proper custom rom file meant for your phone.
hit thanks if it helped

i tried this and didnt work, now i realized that i installed siyah kernel by mistake, how can i go back to the original rom..and no i didnt do any back up for the rom!
What doidn´t work exactly?
Entering recovery or doing a factory reset?
If you are able to enter recovery mode, try as "KeTuRr74" described. After that flash your rom again and try to boot without flashing a new kernel.
Original means for you? Samsung and provider stock rom?

Install any ROM after full wipe: system, data, cache, dalvik cache and, if existing, the Android-maps in internal&external storage. There will be no essential rests of the previous ROM!
