Galaxy S3 Modem - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im having a very bad signal with the MK6 modem. I searched the sammobile site that the latest Modem for my country and my carrier is the DXUGNB1. I hope this would fix my problem. Can someone give me a flashable DXUGNB1 modem for s3? Thank you so much !
Edit: For those of you who'll say "find it in the sticky/general ****ty blahblah." I already did. But I can't find that specific modem.

Thanks but they say that you have to flash the latest modem available in your country to maximize the signal reception. I really need the DXUGNB1 modem.

Have you had a look on Google? You should be able to type specifically what you want and it should come up.

Install Perka's file stash from play store open it and select galaxy s3 select modem then modem cwm then download na8 (recommended) or anything you want. Then just flash it via recovery.
I also search a lot of but couldn't find anything then I find this app which is awesome even I unlock my phone by flashing modem from this app. Flash it and let me know.

Telstra Modem
Hi Soregums.
Did you, or are you able to post the Telstra modem?
I am wondering if this will help my problem of not being able to access Foxtel on the mobile, as it doesnt recognise the phone as a compatible 3g phone.
I'd be willing to give this a shot and extract the modem firmware from my stock i9100t.
I've read that just dd'ing out the modem.bin does not actually give you a file usable in odin though. Could someone please clarify this?
My understanding is that in the process of rooting I'll lose the stock kernel though and there's no way to get that back unless Telstra post their firmware on Kies, right? Am I able to extract the CSC too?

Incorrect Modem.bin is flashed via Odin as phone .

Stock Samsung kernel is what everyone else uses .
Am I able to extract the CSC too?
Only from a functioning phone with root access .
Unless you can find a way to strip a rom .

[Q] Galaxy S2 Modem

Hi.
Im having a little problem here.
If I want to flash a modem, do I have to find the same modem version as my firmware version?
As in, if my firmware version is XXKL3, do I have to find a modem which is XXKL3 so that they will be compatible or something.
Help will be greatly appreciated! Cheers!
As far as I'm aware, you can flash any sgs2 modem you like. Mine doesn't match my firmware.
Edit: in fact, there's a list of flashable modems thread around somewhere.

Can modems be flashed on any kind of kernels? CF-Root, CM7 ?
Are modems made for different regions and carriers? For example I'm in Czech Republic on O2 ? What should be best ?
Yes. Modems are independent of kernel or rom.
Some modems do tend to work best with different carriers/networks, there are two ways you can find a modem that works well with your carrier/its network:-
1) Flash a bunch of modems until you find one that works well
2) Do a Google search & append XDA to your search terms; for example, SGS2 XDA modem Czech Republic. Use your imagination with the search terms.
Having said that, if the modem you're currently using gives you good connectivity/data speeds with the rom/kernel you're using at all locations/at all times of day (to rule out any problems that could possibly be caused by congestion on your carrier's network, etc), there's no need to go changing modems.
You only need to do so if you're having those consistent problems I mentioned.
Hi,
Will ask here:
What are currently most up to date and best modems? Ok I know there is no best modem but what are current modems that are giving best results for most users and otherwise behaving good in mean of performance and battery life?
Now I have xxkl1. Any better?

Just extract and flash the modem yourself if you really want it.

sim signal problem showing no service

My czn galaxy s2 is working perfectly has xwlpd 4.03 except he detects sim but shows no service for sim...
plzzz help me...
i will be very thankful to u.........
Hi!
Since you are new here, it might be the best time for you to read the forum rules just to get you informed.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?a=81 check it out!
1. try inserting your sim in another phone, if you find a signal in the other phone, then there might be something wrong with the s2..
if there is still no signal, then it is a network related problem and call your network operator
2. if you find a signal in the other phone and not in your s2, then you must flash a modem..
DEFINITION:
*Modem/Radio/Baseband is all the same thing and can be seen by going to Settings - About Phone - Baseband. It's basically a driver which receives and sends Mobile Network signals as well as handling switching between GPRS, 3G, HSDPA etc....... (but not WiFi connection, that and switchover between Mobile Network and WiFi is handled by the kernel). Reasoning as to why Modem has no influence on WiFi can be found in this post by Entropy - http://http://forum.xda-developer...count=6556
USAGE:
*There is no one "Best" modem for everybody. Unfortunately you actually have to try to find the modem which works perfectly for you on performance, strength and battery drain levels. The good thing is that from my lengthy 8 month experience with Galaxy S2, I'm happy to report that there are a few modems that seem to perform well geographically for most users. These modems are KE7, KH3, KI3, KI4, KL1, LPS, NEKF2, NELP2 & NELP3.
COMPATIBILITY:
*Modems do not need to be matched up with firmware like it's done with ROMs and Kernels. For example, a KI4 modem can be used with a KL1 ROM and the other way round. The only thing you need to pay attention to is what model your SGS2 is. 9100 and 9100 modems are compatible across both models. However, 9100 model and US variants are not cross compatible since the devices are designed to work on different bands.
INSTALLATION:
*I will add a flashing guide to post number 5 soon, hence why it says "Work in progress.....". For the moment I suggest asking Mr. Google to do a search for you. Bottom line is, for CWM packaged modems you need to be rooted and have a working CWM recovery (flash the CWM modem zip within recovery). For .TAR packages, all you need to do is flash it while your device is in Download Mode and connected to ODIN. The .TAR file should be selected in the PHONE field. Don't touch anything else.

S3 GT-I9300T firmwares question.

Hi there guys. I just wanna help my sis to ask about the s3 firmwares question.
Well, she got an S3 GT-I9300T from Bangkok, and I noticed that I9300 already has official android 4.3 firmware while I9300T doesn't have it yet, so can I flash a I9300 android 4.3 firmware on her I9300T through Odin ?
Thank you for replying this thread and help me out. Appreciate it.

Does this help you?, read this and the next few posts. The only diff between the 9300 and 9300T is the T version picks up the 850Mhz networks other than that they are the same. Thats what I came to after alot of research when I first choose to root it. There is a topic here on xda that also says so.
Try a google search and you will find heaps of results of people flashing 9300 firmware onto the 9300t

Thanks for the information, it's really helpful. :good: Anyway, are you using the I9300T too ?
So does 850mhz networks are better than the normal s3 ? Or it is worse ?
I think I will not risk to flash the firmwares, but I'll try t flash some custom ROMs into it.
Thank you.
Yes I have it, If you are indoubt its usually best not to do it until you are sure.
No it depends on what tech your telco has used to built their networks and we have no choice in it
