I asked this in another forum, but haven't been able to resolve the issue. With other phones, holding down the power button and volume down rocker at the same time will force a reboot. When I do that with the Z2, I get a screenshot, but no reset. Someone suggested just holding the power button, but when I do that, all I get are the choices "Power Off", "Airplane Mode" and "Take a Screenshot". Can someone explain how I do a soft reset with the Z2?
Hold down the power button and volume up button until it vibrates 3 times or take the USB flap off and hold the red button

I had no problem with it, if it hangs just pushing the power button for long time reboot the device.

This is what I do.
Same here, my phone wouldn't wake up, power, vol down for about 5 seconds forced reboot.
The manual says to force a reboot by holding down the Power key and the Volume down key.
Anyone know how /if that's different from holding down just the power key or the Power key and both the Volume down and up keys, two other things I've read mentioned?

holding the power key by its self doesnt always work. It just is a hard power down. The power + vol down is essentially the same as a battery pull.

Holding power and down volume key at the same time is a forced re-boot, and you'll automatically go into a power on situation, with the boot animations starting.
Holding just the power down button should only power off the device, and not re-boot, so you have to re-press the power button to start again.
Sometimes, though, if the phone recognizes the power down by holding the power button, once it turns off, it recognizes the power button a separate time, and you re-boot. This is actually an error, and "shouldn't" occur, but does because of the system resetting.
My power button has a problem. When i press it once it will turn on and off again at the same time. I had to press ot several times for it to stay on..
Another thing is when im holding it for reboot or shutting down. It turns off again and again and again..
Is it hardware or a software problem..
Help me please..

I have the same problem on every rom.
So I guess it's hardware related.
when I want to shutdown or reboot I hold down the power button (don't release it) and select the shutdown option
Anyone experience where their phone refuses to turn on at times. The power button gerlnerates no response until pressed 5-10 times. I don't think its the power button itself because at anytime, holding the power button still results in the capative buttons flashing. Anyone know what may be cause the unresponsiveness and how I can fix it or prevent it from happening?

My phone is stuck on the boot animation and it will not power off. Hold down the power button and the soft buttons flash but nothing happens. I've held it down multiple times for upwards of a minute and it does nothing. USB plugged in and not. What can I do?

Performing a factory reset using hardware buttons
If you can’t turn Droid DNA on or access settings, you can still perform a factory reset by using the hardware buttons on Droid DNA by HTC.
Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then press and hold the POWER button.
Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the POWER and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER button.

That didn't work either, had already tried that. Ended up taking the cover off the back and physically pulling the battery connector off, that worked... lol. Miss a good ol' hard reset button.

This. Just hold volume down while it is booting.
Got to settings> power > unclick fastboot
Then do power and volume down from a completely off state. Or plug into pc with adb set up and run adb reboot

Since you are locked out try holding volume up and power for ten seconds after the bottom keys start blinking. When you see the phone power off (it is actually rebooting) start holding the volume down button.
It may take a time or two but you will get it.
