To the hardworking developers, with due respect, i have been using PAC ROM since long time on my LG OG, one thing i am missing from the very first day is the customize able rows and columns both in the Home Screen and App Drawer, and Re size able icons, specially in 4.4 build the icons are so big and have an order of 5 columns, so they don't look good, if the respected developers could please consider my demand. thanks to all in advance!
Use Nova launcher
I really recommend using Apex Launcher (would give link, but new member here), as it supports icon and font themes, easy to pick up and customize!

If you want to keep stock launcher (Google Now Launcher), Bexton has made an awesome Xposed Module that adds the features you want.

I use Apex since a few years, too. For me it's the best launcher. The customizability is great. Besides there are a lot of themes at play store.
Apex is the answer, have not needed anything else after first try

Hi all,
n00b questions here. Basically, I'm trying to figure out what exactly Rosie and Launcher Pro are.
I downloaded Launcher Pro (the free version) from the Market last night and see that it basically changes the layout of the home screen and icons and such. Seems fairly customizable, and you can also change transition effects between home screens. It also changes the buttons on the bottoms on the bottom of the home screen, sort of like a "quick launch" as seen in Windows. Is there anything else I'm missing?
I'm mainly confused about what Rosie is. I've installed some Roms that include Rosie, but I have no idea what it does or how to use it. The only thing I've seen is that there was a Rosie button on the bottom right of my home screen, which would open up one app that I assign that button to. And when I go into the Rosie settings from my app drawer, the only thing I can change is what program that one button opens. I think I'm missing something here, but Rosie seems pointless.
Also, is it worth it buying the paid version of Launcher Pro? Or do some custom ROMs include a mod of launcher pro that you don't need to pay for?
Thanks!
Rosie is what the sense launcher you got when you got your phone.
Launcherpro is basically just another home, which will replace rosie if you decide to make it your default home. No Roms will include the paid version of launcherpro and I highly recommend you to buy it to support the dev.

Thanks for the info.
Is Launcher Pro generally considered better than Rosie and what most seasoned Android users would use?

It's all about preference. Launcher Pro is very easily customized while Rosie is pretty much the same on every device (albeit there are differences with each Sense version). Launcher Pro is a lot leaner because it doesn't come with all that Sense baggage and I prefer it to other home replacements when using AOSP roms.

It's all really what you like and don't. LP is very nice and cinfigurable, bit its all in personal preference.
There are also a few other launchers out there worth checking out.
SPB Shell 3D
ADW EX
Regina
Zeam
GO Launcher
QuickDesk
Just need to pick the best one for you & your needs.
I use Go launcher. Has the quick launch bar on the bottom nice features and its free. Be aware you cant use sense widgets with an aftermarket launcher
I also use Go Launcher EX, was using Zeam but needed something more customizable.
But as stated before.... It's your preference
is there a way to modify Rosie to allow changes to the 3 icons on the bottom of the launcher? switch out the personalize icon for handcent?
is there a way to remove pages from the rosie launcher?
I love the profiles feature that senseui brings but I hate the fact that you only get two dock buttons. Are there any launchers that are as robust as sense or GO Launcher that also offer profiles?
LauncherPro paid version is definitively worth it.
I use Go launcher, but adw too good
Two very good ICS launchers & both have their respective fans !!
Apex Vs Nova ..... It's a very interesting topic of debate ... I would really appreciate some facts from the actual users as to why they prefer a particular launcher for their ICS device !! I would also like to include their "Pro" version functionalities in this healthy debate !! :good:
Sorry , just noticed a similar thread which was created some time back , All i need to know is after so many updates which launcher is worth buying as per their present day performance ??
Apex Pro OR Nova Prime ??
I know this is not one of your choices, but I have been using Trebuchet launcher (the launcher that comes standard with cm9) and it is awesome. Very smooth, snappy, and has tones of options. Reminds me of ADW, but in ICS form. I know that probably does not help you at all, but it's just another option to consider if you want
The first launcher that lets you change the grid in the drawer to fit more icons will be my favorite launcher.
Apex ;D because it gets most of the features first then nova gets after

First of all I want to say that this launcher is one of the greatest I've ever seen.
Then I would like to say that it could be a nice feature if the developers implement an option to use icon themes used in Nova or Apex into Themer launcher.
What do you think about that? Could be a nice idea?

Hi All,
I've been using Themer for quite some time, adding the odd widget here and there and changing the configuration of other people's themes, but I now want to design my own homescreen.
The Themer webpage basically says 'use Zooper and/or the Everything widgets' and I can see that they're extremely configurable. However, when I look at the themes on the XDA thread and on mycolorscreen.com, a lot of them seem to have been built using a one of the other major launchers, such as Apex or Nova, and with widgets from other sources (Beautiful Widgets, ADW, UCCW, etc.).
So my question is this: what advantages are there to using Themer if everything works fine using Apex or Nova? I can understand that Themer is great for sharing themes and for using someone else's themes on my phone (and thank you for all of those!), but if I want something that's just for me – would I be better off just designing it in Apex and leaving it at that?
I was planning to have various elements 'slide open' by using the 'jump to screen x' command within Themer, which is a neat trick and looks very slick, but it seems the same sort of thing can be achieved by using PopUp Widget.
Is there perhaps some system advantage to using Themer? Does it take all the elements used and then 'flatten' them in order to streamline processing? If so, I can understand the advantage.
Please don't think this is in any way a complaint or criticism against Themer – I just really want to know!
Thank you for your help,

Hi Miles,
Very good question actually. Themer's main goal is to allow people to apply beautiful-looking themes in a few seconds. I've created over 200 videos on the MyColorScreen YouTube channel, with many of those homescreens (using Apex/Nova/UCCW/etc) taking over 30 minutes to configure, and that's if you know what you're doing. However as you mentioned, some people just want to make their own theme, disregarding any of the themes available. If that's the case, many people will stick to Nova or Apex because they're both good launchers that have many years of experience behind them.
So here's the deal - if you want a launcher that will do everything you need - stick with Apex. However, if you want a launcher that you will allow you to include neat looking wallpapers/widgets/icons without any hassle - go with Themer. Even you don't enjoy the themes, they're great for getting ideas. Themer is still in beta, therefore more features and improvements shall arrive soon!
Good luck
- Marco

LAUNCHER
Just stick with SlimKat's SLIM Launcher or NOVA Launcher, which functions nicely with this custom rom. Keep it simple!
Well, there is no such thing as the *best* launcher (unless someone actually developed a launcher called Best). Everyone has its own preference.
If you want to try something new, you may want to take a look at XDA portal, where sometimes launchers news get to be featured. And Jared reviewed three launchers at the begining of the month on XDA TV.
Happy installs!
One Launcher I always seem to come back too is the Smart Launcher or the Zeam Launcher, even though its outdated.
Apex if you use gestures, Nova if you don't.
Launcher3 (if its coming from a custom rom where you can disable search bar ), Trebuchet, SlimLauncher!
Actually I just tried the SlimLauncher and I really really like it!
OT: I think there should be an open source launcher for ALL devices. With those 3 launchers I mentioned we have amazing open source launchers, only problem is if your device doesnt support cm/slimkat etc then your screwed. If you still want one of those you end up downloading hundreds different modded apks or custom roms for other devices, just to find one working ok...
SlimLauncher on PlayStore (or on offical website!) , for all devices, and I could die in peace.
For me, Apex (Pro) with the ability of folders and gestures.
apex launcher is a good one
I've always found Nova Launcher to be the most suited to needs. Versatile and smooth.
guys you should give a try to smart launcher. It got all the options in present in other launchers plus auto categorization: automatically divides apps by personalization, work, settings, social, comunications, media etc...
What about Google launcher with the android m drawer, just download modified Google app apk and you are good to go
I like slim but I feel it could have more features. I have been using nova for about three years now, very customizable
I love lucid

Ya I tried a bunch of launchers and came back to Slim. Is there a way to backup the layout?
I always prefer open source apps so SlimLauncher is fine.

I dont think there is. You could always try one of the many backup apps that also save user data, feg. the backup tool in es file explorer, but probably it will be less work to just set up the launcher from scratch again
I also like SlimLauncher. It's small and very usefull.
