No that's an instruction. I was on my phone and didn't feel like typing an extended reply.
Go to the google web site and in the search bar enter 'build.prop Reverend Kyle' (without the quotes). The first result is a 7 minute video where this person, Reverend Kyle, explains how to edit the 'build.prop' file. Build.prop is a file in Android that is read by the system at boot which often causes market compatibility issues. You shouldn't go screwing around in it, but somewhere in there exists an attribute called 'lcd pixel density' or something to that effect. The market (or gPlay, if you'd rather) will only work when certain conditions for this attribute are correct (240, I think, but I get that confused all the time). I'm in the middle of writing a 50 page report about software prototyping and usability testing or I'd go into further detail. But the good Reverend explains everything in (almost excruciating) detail. His videos are some of the best resources that there are for HP TP (that's HP Touchpad) users, who want to learn to modify their TP's. Watch the vid, repeatedly if necessary. Watch his other vids, they're all great. He's also got a forum of his own (again you can find it with Google or any other search engine), which is excellent, and an Android app, but I'm guessing you're still having problems with the Play store.
Good luck.
Let me know if you're still having problems after you try editing build.prop.
EDIT: The Rev's actually one of the more kind and helpful people around here. I'm not. I just don't have the time to walk you through a step by step. I will however point you in a direction where you might find the answer yourself.
Resolved ;-)
Thanks for a detailed answer.
I resolved the problem with gapps, started to install through ROM manager, and automaticaly, Play Store started to work, without finishing instalation of gapps, because I canceled installation and started Play Store, it has worked...

Can't install apps from the Play store (rpc:s-5:aec-0) error

This started happening about 30 minutes ago. I can no longer install any app from the play store. It always pops up the error message: rpc:s-5:aec-0 . I have tried the two methods below to clear it up, but I still can't install anything. Anyone know any other steps I can try?
Method 1:
Open system settings
Go to Applications (or Apps) >> All
From all apps select Google Play Store >> Clear Cache and Uninstall updates
Again, from All>>Download Manager >> Clear Cache and Data
Finally, All >> Google Services Framework >> Clear Cache and Data
Now, rerun Google play store.
Method 2:
Go to system settings>> Accounts>>Google>>remove your Gmail account
Now from settings>>Apps>>All> Force stop, Clear data and cache for Google Play Store, Google Service Framework and Download Manager (like in method 1)
Now again go to settings>> Accounts>>Google>>Add your gmail account
Restart your android and then accept all the Google terms and setup Google settings
Rerun Google Play Store and update or install your app.

I've been having Play problems for about a week now. Tried these solutions, too, to no avail. Also sent in error reports, but haven't heard anything.

I had this same issue right after installing Alliance rom V7 and it was still there after returning to a previous back up. I was however able to fix the issue by reinstalling my apps from a titanium backup that I made previously. After this my apps are once again visible in the market and I am able to download.

If you guys try restoring apps from a tb backup and it fixes the problem, will some post this fix in the Alliance ROM forum.......seems like a lot people are having this issue and I am unable to post it myself because of the 10 post rule.
Thanks

I got the same error. Method 1 made it worse because after applying method 1, when I started Google Play I got "no connection - retry" error. Only after i restored Google Play and google service framework that the 'no connection error' went away, but the original RFC error is still there.
I tried everything I could find on google and nothing worked.
Google itself didn't even know how to fix it. It's listed on their 'problem list' page and it looked nobody is working on it anyway:
"We’ve received reports that some users are getting "RPC:S-5:AEC-0" while trying to download apps.
If you're receiving this error, removing and re-adding your Google Account on your device may help resolve this issue. We’re currently investigating a permanent solution.
We’ll continue to update this page with developments, so check back soon.

little (q) did you freeze any system app >?
you can try these
1. go to Settings -> Application manager -> ALL, find 'Google Play Store' and select it - Clear cache, if that doesn't work Clear data, if that doesn't work Force stop; if that doesn't work Uninstall updates (restart the phone between each intermediate step)
2. go to Settings -> Application manager -> ALL, find 'Google Services Framework' and select it - Clear data, if that doesn't work Force stop
3. go to Settings -> Application manager -> press the Menu button -> select 'Reset app preferences'
4. go to Settings -> Application manager -> ALL; scroll to the very bottom of the list and see if 'Downloads' is disabled - if it is, Enable it; also see if 'Google Account Manager' is disabled and if it is Enable it
5. go to Settings, find the Accounts group, select Google, select your Gmail address then select the 'Remove account' button. Restart the phone then add your Google account back.

[HELP] Play store stuck at authentication, syncing doesn't work too!!

Device: xiaomi redmi 3 pro running MIUI 7.3 (Lollipop)
I can't open play store, I get "Authentication is required. You need to sign into your Google Account" error.
Also syncing gmail doesn't work, I get "Sync is currently experincing problems. It will be back shortly."
I don't care about sync, I just want to be able to use play store! It's a new phone and I could install some apps, but after rebooting phone play store gives authentication error.
I tried: deleting data on google apps, reboot, removing google acc and trying on another account, removing play store updates, installing the newest google play store version
Lastly I tried factory reset - THIS WORKED! I installed my apps again, but after I rebooted my phone, the play store stopped working again.
I don't know what to do anymore, it seems that rebooting my phone breaks play store forever. Please help

[send help] I broke Google Play

Hi, I really need some help.
I somehow broke Google Play on my phone. It won't open at all. Tap on it, and it closes without even loading anything. I've tried literally everything except a factory reset, which I don't want to do, since I've got some things on here that I don't want to lose. I've tried to wipe cache, uninstall, reinstall, reboot, checked time and date, reverted it to an old backup from when it did work, reinstalled play services, everything. It just won't open at all. Might be because of Lucky Patcher being a piece of crap and doing something while loading some menu's, but I don't know. I've tried to reinstall the normal and modded version as user app and as system app with Lucky Patcher, didn't work either, and I'm getting pretty desperate, honestly. Can anyone help me?
I should add, I'm using a Huawei P9 (regular, Eva L09)
Hi , try to :
- uninstall lucky patcher ,
- remove your google and other accounts ,
- install this google play services and reboot your device.
https://apk.cafe/go.php?http://goog...atch/12.6.85 (040306-197041431)/for/huawei-p9
After that , wipe cache and data from:
- Gmail
- YouTube
- Google Play Store
- Play Services
- Google
- Google Plus
And after that reboot your device , open Google Play Store , add your account and try if is working.
Good Luck
Hi. I followed your steps exactly, and after logging back in into my account and opening Google play store again, I still crashes right after I press it, so that didn't help either. Thanks anyway, I think I completely broke it. Do you think flashing Gapps will help?
Sorry for late response , you can try to reflash back to stock firmware . You have on the internet how to do that for your device . Good luck
