Recovery mode is usually the place which will allow you to flash roms, kernels, scripts, etc. By default, you have Samsung's stock recovery mode. Clockwork Mode or CWM is a custom recovery mode that offer much more option than the stock recovery mode. Now assuming that you have Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 and not Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830i, here is the link for rooting and installing CWM 5 on Samsung Galaxy Ace,
How To Root and Unroot Samsung Galaxy Ace?
Download Root.zip from that link and place it in your sd card. Now switch off the device and boot in to recovery mode (Home+ Power button). Now select "Apply Update from SD Card" and then choose Root.zip. Done. Now you have successfully rooted the device. Follow the same steps for installing CWM too.

We have several standard method for installing/using custom Recovery console such as flashing "recovery.tar.md5" over Odin 3.07 ( single entry PDA ) >> Obviously you can not access to Download mode , because of your Volume malfunctions . However we can use ADB commands to access stock recovery and Download mode , yet again totally useless , due to critical keys malfunctions >> Android debugging bridge must be enabled inside your developer settings of your device /proper drivers installed inside your PC / USB cable ready at hands / Android SDK tools installed inside your PC or use platform tools as an alternative >> adb reboot Download << >>>adb reboot recovery <<< for accessing both modes without using traditional hardware combo keys.
2. Terminal emulator method >> Rooted phone/busybox from play store installed /correct recovery.img must be present for instance inside root of your sd card /super user or su app must be updated to preferably 3.1.3 ; su binary inside of your super user app must be 3.1.1 ( flashing this file su-bin-3.1.1-arm-signed.zip would solve the outdated binary , yet again you have key malfunctions )
after su you may try >
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
(and press enter)
Now, normally reboot to recovery and enjoy new recovery!
if not wait for #
now type reboot recovery
or
this line after su, depends on the sd card block inside your s5830i, fill xx >>
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p<xx>
Caution : S5830i/C/M/5839i known as cooperVE do require dedicated CWM recovery console . Unless you ported your CWM image from here and you have synced the source, updated it and setup the build environment for creating your "recovery.img" ( which i highly doubt that you are capable of such things ) . Sources for your device : 1 ; 2 ; 3
There are 2 types of CWM involved in this process : 1- Temporary zip file which does not come with buit-in kernel inside , so you have to flash it every time through stock e3
2. Comes with kernel for the permanent access to custom recovery upon executing recovery command .
Be advised older temp- CWM ( 5.0.2.6 AND 5.0.2.8) are best suited for stock firmware and custom Roms based on stock firmwares, because of native support for your RFS partitions .
CWM + 6 ported for cooperVE only supports ext2/3/4 and MTD , so do not flash it on stock or the type of rom I did mention
3, Droid manager method : rooted phone/adb enabled inside your device/Net Framework 4. installed /ADB drivers installed /
This is the GUI version and will perform many things such as fie manager capabilities/manage Nandroid backups from a custom recovery/supports both of the major recoveries ClockworkMod and TWRP/fastboot and many functions.
last word , after getting into your CWM presumably how the heck you want to move without your volume keys being active LOL GET IT FIXED .
Hope I did help you and for God sake don't use your wrong recovery.img through Terminal , You will **** it up royally indeed

Maybe a stupid question, but have you waited long enough?
First boot after installing a new rom can take a while
Sent from my GT-P7100 using XDA Premium HD app
ok, is no so stupid, in fact is a good question, but yes I awaited almost 1 hour... I can´t understand boot is ok to perform a download mode but it can´t get started.... and only worked with odin and stock roms.

Did you do a data wipe/factory reset before you started flashing?
I got the same situation with flashing cm9 because I didn't do a wipe.
you should use the Wipe.zip script to clean up all the trash in your tab to make sure you can actually flash the firmware correctly. I got a similar situation the first time I tried this stuff out.
Recently I had a "funnier" problem because I flashed official cyanogen on top of unnoficial and the results were corrupted video drivers.
easiest way for sure:
-download 3.01 from samfirmware.com
-flash everything from inside the zip (modem, tab and bootloader) with odin 1.83
-check if the tab works (if it's not, it's possibly bricked, see emergency repair down in my post)
-download clockwork recovery and a recent rom (if you want to use a specific rom take that one, if you just want root, take any recent rom)
-go in fastboot mode
-type "fastboot oem unlock"
-put the clockwork file "recovery.img" in your fastboot directory
-now type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
-then type "fastboot boot recovery.img"
-when booted in recovery, flash your desired rom
-If you just want root : extract the rom zip you dld and take superuser.apk from system/app and su from system/xbin, now put both in the same directory as adb (same one as fastboot), now type "adb push superuser.apk /system/app/superuser.apk" and then "adb push su /system/xbin/su", reboot tab and you have root on stock rom
EMERGENCY repair: if the tab does not start after flashing with odin, take a piece of strong tape and tape the power button so it's constantly pressed, leave the tab alone for 12 hrs, then charge it and pray it boots
No thanks needed
thanks
@richard: my file is fine , thanks for the link
@wiisper: how can I perform?? my fastboot mode is wipeless
@sjpedro22: how ca I fllash the wipe.zip, ODIN? musT I "PUSH" with adb?? where is wipe.zip?? (gracias)

No its not see my thread in this forum "how to put your tab back in original state for warranty", ypu can make it default again without sammy noticing, mine is in repair as we speak

Use fastboot to flash and boot a recovery like in the how to root thread. From there on you can do a factory reset.
If the wipe doesn't work you have to flash a stock rom.

Hi Bro,
i have sc7731c (karbonn titanium 3D Plex ) device too. and i have tried many available img but none of them worked this would be because these devices are new and there no suitable recovery available simply because people have not made any till now..
There is many programs that allows u to create a new custom recovery if there is no recovery is available for your device try to goggle it.
On windows, philz magic touch recovery tool, android kitchen recovery image unpacker and so on.
Can i make you custom recovery using your stock image if you're too lazy
as i said above i have been trying to flash online available recoveries and accidentally flashed my stock u could help me out this
can u provide me you stock recovery image file ?
@Maucurezo
Hey dude! Im a pinoy. Im running with my STARMOBILE PLAY CLICK. As same as yours. Im running on the same Spreadtrum SC7731C and I flashed a Custom Recovery but it would only bring me to bootload. I kept finding solutions to get my Stock recovery but failed. We have the same Problem. I need the Custom recovery too. Help us admins
You can try and do it yourself. Porting TWRP and CWM to a new device. You'll need the stock rom for your device or simply make an image "dump" of the system files (boot.img, etc) via adb. Goodluck.
TWRP for sc7731c hope it helps
hi all a have a sc7731c phone on android 6.0 and i was able to install twrp on my device
it all started when i found a stock rom on the web (Google your device for stock - rom or - firmware)
once i had the rom i started searching for a way to extract the stock recovery from the rom
and i found this tool SPD_Upgrade_Tool_R4.0.0001 using this tool i extracted my stock
recovery from the ROM ( recovery.img ) , first stage complete i had a stock recovery
taken from a rom for my phone - brand and model must be right on the stock
firmware/rom or you risk damaging you phone (DO NOT CHEAT PLZ)
ps:wen you unpack the firmware/rom you should get a .pac file
ps:finding my stock rom took me several days of search.
now for STAGE 2 i had a stock recovery a needed to change it
for twrp another few days of search i came across a site
called hovatek here i found a tool to port (change) the
stock recovery to boot the twrp recovery the tool name is
[Hovatek] Spreadtrum (SPD) Auto TWRP Recovery Porter V1.0 by Team Hovatek (x86)
i run my stock recovery with this tool the tool creates a modified recovery on the
output folder( a few kb bigger ) stage 2 done.
STAGE 3
1- a fully working ADB, for this your best option is android-studio
2-turn on USB debuging and OEM unlock in DEV options
3-name the new recovery file recovery.img
4-your device has to be in USB MTP mode
5-if ADB is properly installed and Windows has the correct android device
driver you should be able to use these commands using android-studio's ADB
command-adb devices
-if the device is detected a serial number apears
command-adb reboot bootloader
-the device reboots to a black screen with small white letters saying FASTBOOT mode
command-fastboot devices
-the device displays the serial number again
command-fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
- if all went well it will say successful
command-fastboot reboot
-dont remenber if it booted straight to twrp or if i had to use power + volume up
-by the way on my phone to get in the default recover its 1 second hold power
and then with the power pressed for 1 sec add volume up 3 sec and let go of both
any way it worked i hope it helps ppl with these sc7731c phones
i have twrp 3.0.0 fully working
tips: youtube vídeos on how to use SPD_Upgrade_Tool_R4.0.0001
the hovatek site has a great tutorial on how to use the recovery porter tool
the last part the ADB commands was a ***** as Windows did not install my device
correctly and this is crucial -install phone driver manualy/Google device/Google android device. good luck
ps: all merit goes to the developers of these tool, a great ty to them :highfive:
ps: at the start i did NOT have root, the success flashing the ported twrp recovery
was followed bi the installation of the magisk15.3.zip and voila twrp+root
any one help me i port twrp using adb but after i flash my twrp upside down on sc7731ceb it works fine but the twrp upside down any help me

humm,.. as far as i now adb does not port recovery image´s you mean you found an image for sc7731?? phone and there are at least 4 or 5 variations of the sc7731 board and you
flashed it on your phone, by shear luck you did not soft-brick or brick your phone and it actualy Works, :cyclops:
you need to search Google/xda/hovatek site for your brand and model´s stock recovery or even better your custom recovery
or as an alternative your stock ROM/FIRMWARE and then extract the stock recovery from ROM/FIRM port it and flash it
im prety shure someone out there has a phone like your´s and you can , when you find it download the stock recovery - the custom recovery - or the ROM/FIRMWARE file
the hovatek site has a great auto port tool all you need is your stock recovery follow the vídeo simple steps and flash it now that you have root just use
twrp oficial app to flash it ,se my tutorial above it will be easy once you have the stock recovery or rom/firmware
i have a 50 buck cheap phone wierd brand,it took me several days to find the stock rom/firmware once i did all worked just fine no strange stuff
hovetek site also has a lot of rom´s/firmware files for many brands and model´s , again search Google/xda/hovatek for your model + stock recovery or recovery.img, custom recovery.
good luck

Galaxy a3 a300fu ( a3 2015 ) android 6.0.1 [twrp root] and mods

I should have posted this in development area < Galaxy A3, A5, A7, A8 Android Development > , some admin / modder please move the thread , thanks and sorry for the mistake, i was in a hurry , jogging time !
I've recently managed to root my phone via twrp , i've tried a lot of already built twrp recovery image built for marshmallow after updating, this one above
( TWRP_2.8.7.0_A3_F-H-FU_5.0.2_v2.tar > file attached at the thread bottom ) .. yes i know is for lolipop but works on marshmallow , i didn't managed to find who built it but it works and loads even with the "Set warranty bit : recovery" issue , the thing is that get stitch as welll and you are not needed to flash original recovery after rooting .
As the thread title says this is for A3 a300fu (A3 2015) updated to Marshmallow 6.0.1 ( A300FUXXU1CPH3_A300FUOXX1CPI1_ROM ) .
1) Download supersu zip file and place it within your phone memory or sd card
1 ) a) Flash above twrp recovery image with odin .
2) Enter recovery ( power key > home > volume up after flashing the recovery image )
RECOMMENDED > DO A BACKUP FROM TWRP BEFORE FLASHING ROOT AND XPOSED JUST TO STAY SAFE .
3) From twrp choose > install > select your zip file > swap to flash
( I've flashed latest file : SR4-SuperSU-v2.78-SR4-20161115184928.zip )
4) Go to > restart > system TWRP WILL ASK YOU TO INSTALL ROOT CHOOSE > >>> DO NOT INSTALL <<< <
5) LET IT BOOT > YOU WILL ALSO SEE ANOTHER "Set warranty bit" MESSAGE , just wait for boot do not force reboot or something else
(SAME FOR XPOSED FRAMEWORK IT WILL TAKE SOME MINUTES TO BOOT) .
5) a) Download supersu chainfire from google play store and make an update if required
>>>>>> MODS <<<<<<<
Since i've also wanted to install xposed framework as well , i've tested and successfully managed to install this mod :
> xposed-v86.0-sdk23-arm-custom-build-by-wanam-20160709.zip
For xposed framework before flashing zip file with the already installed twrp , first install right after rooting
> XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk from this thread , then reboot to twrp and go to install and select the above named zip .
Happy rooting !
works! many thanks
Unable to flash TWRP
My phone model is SM-A300FU. I tried flashing TWRP with Odin v3.12.3, but it doesn't do anything. On AP I selected the attached .tar file and I put my A3 into download mode. It took 4 seconds to do it and Odin said that it passed, but it didn't do anything. I tried doing it 3 times and it didn't work. My phone didn't get bricked, but it didn't do anything to the recovery. I still have the stock recovery that comes with the phone. Please help. Thank you.

It is easy and convinient if you're gonna use this method somehow watch out for the bugs because it may cause u to get stuck on recovery booting or download mode (good news is it wont affect with ur memory).
Use flashify, select the downloaded recovery (Extract when needed) and wait for some few minutes to flash the file.

use flashify if you have root
To root without pc,you can use Kingroot

[Root SM-A320F /FL/Y] Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 - The most advanced 4.7 inch Samsung yet

This device is more reasonable to buy as it is small and elegant at a decent price.
It is IP68 water-friendly device and the display is much better - higher FPS than on higher resolution OLEDs - good for action games.
Root using CF-autoroot
Download the file from CF-auto-root repository:

If you have Nougat or after update to Android 7.0:

Wipe data + cache before
Flash CF-autoroot before device initial configuration

Unzip the file
Run Odin from the unzipped folder
Browse by clicking AP button the *.md5 file from the unzipped folder
Connect the A320F in download mode (start the device by holding Power+Home+Volume DOWN)
After starting the device in download mode, press Volume UP one to allow the download
A new COM port should be recognized by Odin after the device is connected via USB
Press Start button in in Odin
Rooting will take place automatically and the device will restart twice.
After the first restart you can disconnect the cable from the PC.
Second restart might take a few minutes.
After that you will find the SuperSU app installed.
Other, more complicated methods:
Rooting using custom recovery:
You will need:
SM-A320F with Exynos CPU (waiting for updates on other model)
Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 on your device
Odin v3.0.4 (download link below)
Team Win Recovery Project - TWRP (download link here) or ClockWork Mod Custom Recovery - CWM (download link below)
(Recommended custom recovery: Team Win Recovery Project :good: - more features, newer, works better)
SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815 (latest ZIP version available today - download link below)
SM-A320F TWRP & CWM recovery installation procedure:
On your device enable developer options and then disable OEM lock (FRP lock) for the device to allow you to flash custom recovery
(Activate OEM unlock from developer options menu)
Boot your device in Odin downlaod mode (hold VolDOWN + Home + Power)
Flash the *.tar file of TWRP or for the CWM using Odin's PDA option
(Uncheck Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time)
Force reboot your device (hold VolDOWN + Power for 10 seconds)
SM-A320F SuperSU ZIP installation procedure:
Copy SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815.zip on a microSD card (trough USB data cable or any other method)
Unplug the USB data cable from the phone and shut down the device
Start your device in Recovery mode (Hold VolUP + Home + Power)
(RECOVERY IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCED - this warning is normal when booting into CWM custom recovery but not with TWRP)
The recovery menu will appear
> Using TWRP Recovery:
Swipe to allow modifications
Tap on Install
Tap on Select Storage at the bottom and select MicroSDCard then tap OK
Browse for the SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815.zip and tap on it to install it
Swipe to install SuperSU (confirm Flash)
> Using CWM Recovery:
Select Install zip update package (use VolDOWN/VolUP to navigate and Power to select)
Select Choose zip from sdcard
Select SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815.zip and press Power to install Super SU
The installation will perform automatically and the device will reboot twice.
First reboot will take longer. Please be patient. After the second reboot you will have SuperSU and root.
Downsides/bugs:
Knox will be tripped the second you flash a custom recovery (Warranty void: 1 - non reversibile)
(That means that you will lose the warranty for your device and that can not be changed)
(Perhaps that's why I personally can't invest more than $300 in a Samsung cellphone ever)
You won't be able to use Knox-related functions including Secure Folder ever again
Because of a SuperSU bug you won't be able to use Smart View (Miracast, project the screen to smart TV) unless you make an edit as follows:

Use a file browser such as Root Browser and go to the root of your device then locate the "System" folder and find build.prop and edit it with any application that can edit it and find the bottom line, right at the edge of the bottom line you need to press enter twice and then paste this:
wlan.wfd.hdcp=disable
And then save it and reboot your device.

Up to this point there is no success in rooting the Galaxy A3 2017 device.

Unfortunately there is no sign of working root method for the device.
Please feel free to update this topic with your attempts on rooting this device, and if success will strike, it will float up here for everyone to see.

Ok good then I will remove my earlier post. I don't have the device so I can't try it.
I tried again this morning with success!
I can have access to recovery but not to sd card (internal or no)... so I can't root the device.
Any idea?

Format the SD card on your PC using FAT32 option (use an USB adapter).
Copy the zip on the card, Insert it into the phone and reboot into recovery to test.
Yes... that's what I did. I found the solution into Google.
Thanks anyway for your help.
Do you think that it will be possible to install TWRP instead of CWM in recovery?

Yes. You can flash twrp in cwm and reboot to recovery. Twrp will be there instead.
wich version to choose?
Sorry. There's no twrp for a320 yet, but in general it's working fine to flash new recovery with existing one.
Hey guys, I will receive my a3 2017 soon and I was wondering if it would be preferable to root it now than waiting for the update to Nougat and re-root it then... Any idea when the update will be available for this phone? I was also wondering if I should use a specific brand or type of micro sd card with this phone?
Thanks
