Hi, I modified Animating Flip Clock Widget Beta, created by Peppernut Studios, htc style for my wildfire in the "... ldpi" folder.
I have not changed the code or the name or the size of objects, only the font (which I renamed), the background and the two white boxes where the numbers are put, playing with transparency in PNG images, and I've signed with Auto-Sign v0.65 (for me that I am not a programmer is a miraculous thing).
I'm not interested in the weather, only the clock and its animation, which works beautifully, and the result seems very good, at least for me.
What interested me know is this: if I find out how to change the name, make the other folders (...hdpi and ...mdpi) I can post?
Maybe someone else also like ...
it'is really cool can you doing an mdpi version?
italiano: bello, potresti fare una versione mdpi?
Hi all, I changed to my delight this free application in the Android Market, Animating Flip Clock Widget Beta, created by Peppernut Studios.
I wanted to put on my Wildfire, with rom CyanogenMod 7.1 256 nightly, an animated clock on the type of stock on some HTC (everyone has one but not all of it is animated), but you can not run on the Cyano.
Not being interested in the weather, I focused on this app.
I changed the images and font, without modifying the code, replacing the png files and font directly into the apk open, in fact keeping the proportions established by the author and the names of files, but playing with the transparency of png files.
It should not be unzipped the app, but you have to put items directly nell'apk open (which indeed is but a particular zip), folder in the right positions.
After I signed the file with Auto-Sign v0.65, because otherwise it would not work, and you're done.
Works well
I always wanted this anim...but wasnt the case on wildfire n stock rom & i just rooted my phone two days back with CM nightly latest build...and found ur post..I ws so glad tht yu made the Flip clock to actually Flip I jus luv it dude..looks awesome..thnx a ton for sharing it man

I'm not interested in the weather, but still I would not be able, I'm not a programmer.
Changing some images is different from changing the code.
Rather, how did you set the single digits for the hours?, I did not succeed.

As the author of Animating Flip Clock Widget I feel flattered that you've taken it upon yourself to modify my app. Though a link to my original thread would be appreciated.
It's been a while since I've updated this app, but I am working on a completely rewritten version of it. This one will look more like how you've changed it, though it also contains animated weather. So if you're interested you can keep an eye out here on XDA, or on my website.

Just to set the record straight, it was me that made the clock actually flip. But I can understand it might be confusing who does what when so many different technologies are involved.

Animating Flip Clock Widget uses one digit for the hour in AM/PM mode, and uses two digits for 24 hour mode. So if you want to change this, go into your phone settings and select the date/time setting and there you'll find a tickbox for that.
Cheers

This clock uses a different technique which would involve replacing not just a few images, but a couple of hundred images. So it might be hard to find someone willing to put an enormous effort in to achieve that.

I apologize, it was not an intentional thing, just a mistake in composing the message in English, which is not my language, I edited my first post (other thread I opened in Italian, and there I have always mentioned) .. .
Rereading the posts, I saw that at least in the second I mentioned.
Anyway, thanks for your excellent work, on wildfire works beautifully and I removed all other watches that I had.
It would be better if you could increase the size of the watch, but it is good enough.
'll Check your site and your thread Xda

No worries, and thank you very much.
My new version will indeed have a slightly larger clock, but I do try to keep it in proportions.
Cheers
Hello, I've come up with something, because you are the creator of the app.
A friend of mine has one of the latest Samsung and app slows it down a lot.
The directory that is used is the folder drawable-hdpi.
great work.....
if you increase the size of the clock it will be my default clock.
in my 3,7 display it's a bit small

Hi just wondering if any1 has any ideas for a better customizeable clock and weather widget, I like the look iv created with "clockQ" widget but this does not incorporate weather or location temp so just wondered if any fellow xda-ers had any ideas?? Preferably a widget that can be highly customized ie. Text colour, transparent or background and rotation of contained text
Cheers in advance

try Beautiful Widgets - from market (need 2 inst addon to)
1st choice-Without a doubt chronotopia is the app for you.but BEWARE this gem has a very high learning curve and includes customization of everything, own weather icons, backgrounds, position, call and txt notification etc etc the list is huge but once mastered its a keeper.
2nd choice- beweather is stunning when set up correctly, not as advanced as chrono but very nice.

This is what I gt and wish to replicate but with the addition of weather/temp in the widget

Just wondering if u can help with an issue I have with chronological.....? Read that knoxcoder is working on other projects so I don't expect a reply from him.
The issue is that chrono force closes whenever I try to import a font, spent ages moving files to root of SD or different folders but as soon as I open that folder to import.....BAM! FC.....
Don't know if thus issue arose for you or any1 else in the related topic?

Yeah, every so often but can't really help much,it happens to me when the files are large in size I.e trying to import an image background or trying to import numerous files. Best bet is to try importing 1 at a time I.e import then press back to leave chronotopia so it saves or place the files inside the theme your making directly.
I just re read your post and I think its because your folder your trying to import files from has too many files... too large for chrono to handle.

Another good clock widget that gives you a lot of customization is Make Your Clock.
The good part about is that it has an inbuilt theme gallery, so if you don't want to "**** around" (Like me), you can just download a theme made by another user
Got ya...
Gt it it recognize some other fonts but just seems to be this specific one "bank Gothic"
I'll try a few other dloads of the same font just to weed out any discrepancy in the font causing the FC

ok im at my pc now so i can see what im writing, i will try to explain a little clearer.
basically i think you have too many files within a folder and chrono is struggling to read them all. importing images/fonts is simply copying them into that themes folder on your sdcard within com.marooned.chronotopia/ "name of theme"/fonts/images so if you place your desired files directly into corresponding folder then you will have no need to import due to them already being there.
Turns out it wadthe specific font file was corrupt lol gt another and its sorted thanks for the help

We're working on a function that lets you start with a fresh blank screen, but for now you'll have manually remove the widgets etc. We apologize for the inconvenience.
the ability to start from blank screen would be very good, but to be honest I haven't seen the video but find it more fun to see how others have worked a theme then edit etc to suit my own needs,by adding or removing items. One feature I would like however is the ability to switch styles without having to go into settings and applying an exported style a bit long winded for me,a quicker solution would be great.
nice one!
+1
add a blank empty theme into the gallery???
are there any templates or do i just pick the resolution i want in PS and overlay the grid according to the themer settings? (9x9 for example?)
already use a blank template but would be good to start from scratch within the launcher
As in a blanl photoshop template? Would it be alright to grab a copy please?

What we meant is an option to select "Apply a blank setup", that will include something along the lines of a single blank white page with now icons or widgets. For now though you can still achieve this, simply remove all the pages on your current theme as well as all the icons and widgets and then export the theme to use it later.
To export/save a theme: Themer Settings > Advanced > Export Theme. This theme will now be saved in the Exported section of the My Themes tab.
Hope this helps!
How does a person create a theme and then use it? I'd like to have very specific things on my theme but other than adding to an existing theme, i can't seem to take away from an existing theme, how do I create a new one from scratch?
I know they say watch the vid but if you are like me you need to see it in writing,it makes more sense to me that way.Anyway the easiest way is to grab a theme and change it around/edit,get a feel for the program then create your own by changing wallpapers, icons, weather etc.A lot of themes now won't let you edit them I have found, however download any of mine and edit away they are all editable,as are a few more posted here but names don't spring to mind, none in my opinion are any better or worse than each other they just have their own little attributes that makes them unique in their own way.So go on and play around m8,it will be fun.

Thanks, I cannot stand those youtube videos that "show" you how to do things. I find them tedious and unusable. I'd rather just get some instructions, an application and let me do it. Yet, so many seem to post "youtube instructions" i write this stuff for a living and have never found a video more useful than written instructions. However, that's my bias.
I'll go check out some of yours.
I agree with your assessment that NONE of the themes I've downloaded have been editable. I don't want to ADD more widgets and icons to a theme. I just want to start with a blank canvas and let me do it.
Yet, if all these themes exist, HOW were they created? I'm really not going to watch a youtube video. There has to be a building application somewhere. Not re-engineer something already there.
One question, when you say "download mine" where do I find yours. None of the ones I've seen through the application say who created them.
mine and others are in the screenshots and themes forum beneath the general discussion.I agree fully with the video and much prefer to read it as I find it more followable, but again I suppose that is my bias too.You can start almost fresh, grab a theme as posted earlier, then delete everything,if the theme uses everything widget this is simple to do,just press screen and choose remove, then change the wallpaper by selecting your own then simply add you own widgets etc via the inbuilt everything widget (although this isn't as stable as it could be) or download widgets from playstore etc then add them, hope this helps apologies if I seem to waffle on.

Hi sanjsrik,
I'm the one who made the YouTube tutorial videos, so I apologize if they weren't that informative. Those were created in the beginning just to give people a basic understanding of what Themer was about.
Alldroid is correct in saying that starting with a fresh blank theme is the best, then just seeing what works and what doesn't. My advice would be learn more about Zooper Widget, as a lot of the newer themes use it, and it's brilliant. That's all Themer is essentially, a wallpaper, some widgets, and maybe some icons if you're feeling brave. We do recommend making the grid size quite large, in order to make the widget resizing easier. you might also notice that the new themes include incredibly detailed icons, these are in fact Zooper fonts, so as mentioned play around with the Zooper widgets found in the new themes.
If you need help/ideas feel free to ask, I'm always here to help!

Marco,
I would definitely go for it... though I am more of a "hands on" student and for learning I need to hear the stuff (that's how I learned all the stuff during college - my wife reading the material and me laying down and just listening - damn, she was so furious when I got the same grades as she did... ;o]]]), the text might help you gain more audience among those "give-me-a-manual-and-shut-up" types.
You have created a superb product for the tinkerers so a step further in the direction of a superb customer/user support would be a definitive nod in the right direction.
I personally would like more short video tutorials on specific features, how they work, what is their purpose and the mechanics (Yeah, you guessed it, I am not that familiar with design and graphics;o]) and maybe a tut on the 'codes' for custom formats of zooper widget.
well and maybe few more videos with theme designers like the one you guys did with GeriArts would also be inspiring... ;o]]]
another definate yes here too thanks, would make it a more better product in my opinion.

I promise I am NOT complaining. I promise I am NOT criticizing. I am just asking the question, WHAT is Themer?
from everything I understand, it's not a true "application", it's a wallpaper that then people can add widgets that "do" things.
if this is the case, HOW are these widgets "locked" where they can't be changed in a lot of the wallpapers I've downloaded.
THAT is my only question.
Oh, and how come there's not a "builder" application for Themer?

No worries we weren't offended by your comments, we're just trying to make everyone's theming experience as easy possible.
Themer is a launcher. Just like TouchWiz, Nova, Apex, ssLauncher, etc. It's a link between the hardware and software, you could think of it as the body/shell of a car. The car can have a different shell, and with Themer, it's shell can be customized in seconds.
Calling it a wallpaper with widgets doesn't really do it justice, as a launcher incorporates your app drawer as well, and maybe some more features arriving soon.
One thing to remember is that Themer, once stripped to its core, it a launcher, just like the rest. By that we mean you're able to edit/add/remove widgets, change wallpapers, change the icons (icon pack support arriving soon), etc. To unlock widgets, hold down on the homescreen - Advanced - Unlock Widgets. Repeat the process to lock them, or alternatively you can go into the main Themer settings - Advanced - Desktop - enable Lock Desktop Widgets.
Whenever the widgets/icons are unlocked, this can be called the "builder" mode, as you can add/remove/edit widgets and icons.
Hope this helps!

Thank you for the constructive email.
I think the biggest confusion anyone has with your "application" is that it doesn't seem like an application. It really does sound like a wallpaper with widgets. For example:
* Is there the ability to add groups for grouping together like kinds of applications?
* Can I add my own icons for applications?
Think GoLauncher or some other such "launcher" application that exists.

1. With Themer, you can add in Smart Category folders. For example the Games Category, when you install a new game, it will show up in this category and then whichever theme has a games folder, this new game will automatically appear. This saves a lot of time, but you can also manually add in your own categories or manually add in your own apps to a category.
2. Icon pack support is still limited. If you have icons on the homescreen, these can be edited manually. Some icon packs are supported, but you can also set them to other images in your gallery.

YES! I watched many of the videos and I'm still very much confused. I have specific ideas for what I want, and although I can figure some things out on my own by trial and error, reinventing the wheel is both time-intensive and tiresome.
Also, I am glad to hear that icon pack support is on the list. Although my plans include heavy use off the app drawer, I'd like to have the icons in there be pleasing to my eye as well as the ones on my home screen.
It's a great product, one that I've already suggested to several friends. I just am more demanding than the "average bear".

most icon packs by default don't work with themer, but there is a way round this although you will need to manually change the icons you want to use.
Download apk extractor from Playstore
download the icon packs you want to your device
using apk extractor extract the apk of the icon pack you downloaded, this file will be stored on your device main storage in the apk extrat folder.
Attach your device to your laptop etc, then drag the extracted apk icon pack to it
rename the icon.apk and change the apk extension to zip
open with your favourite zip program
then simply extract the icon file images
this thread helped a lot
First of all, I absolutely love this app. It's so easy to use yet powerful and the variety is just incredible. I remember a few years ago when I still had a jailbroken iPhone 3GS, it took me a whole afternoon just to make my phone look like one of these themes, now it's just a press of a button.
I just want to voice a little suggestion for the designers out there and if anyone disagrees with me, please send it right back. I think one of the coolest things about Android compared to iOS is the widgets and one widget that many people use often around me is the calendar. Unfortunately, even though there are so many amazing themes made for this app, very few of them actually dedicate enough space to a calendar widget (and often not at all).
Every theme though seems to dedicate a whole page to a music app. From my experience, this isn't really necessary since when a song is playing, i can see it in the notifications shade or when I want to start a new session to listen to music, I probably want to go into the app and choose which song to start with.
So I'm just making a suggestion to include more calendar widgets in future themes because at the moment, there's not enough themes with them but there are too many themes with music widgets. What do you guys think?
or better yet, make a theme yourself and include whatever you want =)

I plan to eventually but I don't have the time right now so I thought I'd make a suggestion for those who do.
A good way to start finding your work-life balance is to challenge yourself to identify one behavior that you can change. What makes you happiest? What stresses you out the most? Determine your answers, then focus on a few areas in which you can improve, whether it's socializing more at work or planning out your day better. Soon you’ll be living happier, too!

Thanks for the self-help tip. It's funny how a suggestion for future themes lead to a lesson on life management! I guess I better keep this in mind the next time I write an app review in the Google Play Store.

well that sorted my life out !!!! seriously how is this helping anyone !!!!!
I understand what you mean that many do try and have more music apps etc and as you mention are not always useful,I am guilty of this myself in some respects, but when I create a style I create them because I want to not because they may or not become popular,as this doesn't concern me.It is all down to personal taste I suppose.
I maybe give this a try in a future theme,to be honest it is a good suggestion in my opinion

Hey Marco,
This is a good suggestion, we'll definitely pass it onto the team. Thanks!

Yeah, right now it is the shades of green the only really good theme, if you want events on the home screen. I also feel that all the themes go in a direction of fun and design, and there are only very few, that at least add basic organizer options.
More work related themes would be welcome
I have to second the request for a calendar widget in more of the themes.
I LOVE themer and it's my default launcher now. I use the agenda view of the calendar all the time which gives me the option to scroll through my appointments and meeting times. Unfortunately, there are only a handful of themes that present this option, such as 'Series', 'Silver lining', 'Coordinate' and 'Violet'.
I usually just end up inserting an agenda widget in one of the unused whitespaces in the screen.
I would make my own themes, but I don't have a creative bone in my body. I couldn't hope to come up with anything half as nice as what you guys do on a regular basis.
Thank you for all your hard work. I will certainly be paying for this launcher when it comes out of beta. :good:

Thanks for your response! We've passed this message onto the team and will look into including more agenda-focused themes
